Posted by: heraldguy at November 16, 2006 01:43 PMViva El Presidente!!!
Posted by: adidasman at November 16, 2006 01:47 PMJohan Santana is the sexiest man alive. I don't care what People Magazine says about George Clooney.
Posted by: Rach at November 16, 2006 01:49 PM
Neither will I, BG. Neither will I...
Congratulations Johan! We love you!
Also, I love my boyfriend even though he only 4th place. We love you Joe Nathan.

Posted by: Me at November 16, 2006 02:12 PMJohan is well on his way to becoming the greatest pitcher in Minnesota Twins history. Nobody else has won to Cys, and his have been pretty convincing. I think we just need to keep that TC on his cap and that left arm attached and he should be set to go. Maybe someday he'll be right behind Walter Johnson as the greatest pitchers in organization history. I feel so spoiled to get to cheer for and see Johan pitch... When do pitchers and cachers report?
Posted by: Bob at November 16, 2006 02:17 PMMe alegra saber que Johan Santana haya ganado el Cy Young, lo felicito....

Posted by: ramon marcos at November 16, 2006 02:46 PMYay! Once again, Johan makes my day.
And HG, thanks for the heads up. Mmmmmmjustin
Posted by: Mrsmorneau at November 16, 2006 02:47 PMCongrats to Johan on winning his 2nd (should be 3rd) AL Cy Young. Never doubt it would be unanimous since he was the MLB Pitching Triple Crown Winner.
Now Mr. Ryan, I would call up Johan's agent and offer him a 5 year extension for $75 million TODAY.
Posted by: Shaun at November 16, 2006 03:12 PMWooooHoooo! I love me some Johan Santana, he is sooo studly! Can you imagine if they hadn't voted him the Cy Young winner, there would be such an uprise that Minnesota has never seen! Yay for hot Venezualens!
Posted by: L.H. girl at November 16, 2006 03:30 PMA Personal Message to Johan (I know he reads BG every day)
Congrats to you Johan!I hope you are resting El Presidente.
I am glad you did not go to Japan to strike out Japanese bitches and that you are saving yourself for the bitches on this side of the Pacific.
As you know, the Bitch Sox and Ligers and even the Clevelands are plotting against you. They want to sign big $$$ bitches in a Central Division coup! Rest El Presidente, rest . . . and return to glory in 2007!
Posted by: funoka at November 16, 2006 03:41 PM Justin Morneau Perry Ellis I wonder how those 2 got hooked up. maybe his roomate?
I love that Johan's reaction was pretty much the same as Bat-Girl's. "This was not such a big surprise as in 2004."
Well, duh, indeed.
Posted by: Webster at November 16, 2006 04:36 PMI just heard the news! It couldn't have happened to a hotter pitcher.
Posted by: Robbster at November 16, 2006 06:28 PMOh...Johan...*fans self*...as you can tell, like Batgirl, I will NEVER get tired of that pic *fans self again*
Para Magallanero: hola :) escríbeme si quieres hablar conmigo :)
To L.H. girl: what other hot Venezuelans do you like? I like Francisco Rodríguez :)
Posted by: Becky at November 16, 2006 06:46 PMYay! I'm so happy for El Presidente. Yes, there would have been vast public dissent had he NOT won AL Cy Young. Glad SOME Twins are getting the recognition they deserve. Anyway, I might actually get to go meet JustIncredible on Saturday! I'm so excited! ;) My first meeting with an actual Twin.
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at November 16, 2006 06:56 PMAnd check out that footage of El Presidente! :D
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at November 16, 2006 06:58 PMOh, Johan. So well deserved.
Posted by: Stacy at November 16, 2006 07:10 PMEarlier this season, I wrote a little ditty. There is no specific tune, but the lyrics are as follows:
If Johan Santana doesn't win the Cy Young, I'm going to steal it from whoever does and give it to him.
Today my best friend was like, "Do you remember that song you wrote? I have a very clear picture of you climbing the gate of a professional baseball player's house and sneaking in to his trophy room."
I totally would have done it.
Posted by: Erin at November 16, 2006 07:53 PMWhoo-hoo! El Presidente has been issued a mandate and Prop. #57 has been passed!
(Prop. #57, of course, is the granting of all Gwynn
-given powers to cause all bitches to sit down.)
Thank New Twins Stadium for Little Rod's tireless efforts for this bill. A small tribute for the Piranhta Party, in a way. ;)
Viva El Presidente!!!
And VP
Congratulations!
He deserves every award he wins. Even though he doesn't pitch for my team (yet) he is the kind of player that makes you happy you are a baseball fan.
p.e.m.
Posted by: public enemy mike at November 16, 2006 11:33 PMErin,
That would actually make a great movie, madcap road trip-caper movie as 2 baseball fans head off to steel someone's Cy Young award. Plenty of oppourtunities for celebrity cameos, and in the end they would learn that awards are by the by, greatness is it's own reward

Posted by: dan in london at November 17, 2006 03:43 AMTo the citizens of Canazuela:
Congrats! While this should be his 3rd straight award, 2 in 3 years aint half bad. He continues to throw heat and that nauseating off-speed stuff. Indeed a pleasure to see (in the Central, mind you, only 6 times a year plus playoffs).
Can't wait until February...the offseason is already too long...
Posted by: YankeeFan at November 17, 2006 07:20 AMDear p.e.m.
Thanks for the kind sentiments. Still, I think I'd cry if Santana ever wore a Yankees uniform.
Tricia
Posted by: Tricia at November 17, 2006 10:36 AMHello again YF,
Yes, but mine would not be tears of joy.
Best always,
Tricia
Oh, Presidente, I lack the words to adequately express my admiration. What a season, what a pitcher.
Please, TR, lock him up for another eight years. *Please.* Thank you.
Posted by: FH at November 17, 2006 11:42 AMI'm so frustrated with reading articles all over the place saying he has won two unanimous Cys, and should have won a third.
GUESS WHAT SPORTSWRITERS... IF YOU THINK HE SHOULD HAVE WON IT, MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR HIM.
/rant over
Posted by: Eric at November 17, 2006 12:13 PMI just love how humble he is. He says he keeps trying to get better. But it's that very attitude that makes him such a great pitcher.
Plus, he's a beautiful, beautiful man.
k-bro
Posted by: k-bro at November 17, 2006 12:37 PMThanks to El Presidente for letting us bask in his awsomeness, and for winning the thing and keeping Erin out of the pokey.
And Eric -- Amen, brother. Is anyone willing to admit that he (or she) was in the crowd that didn't vote for Santana last year?
Posted by: hrunting at November 17, 2006 02:29 PMOh, how I love having Cy Young-winning POTUSOBG on our team. And he's such a quality human being, in addition to a damn incredible pitcher.
Eric & hrunting--I swear those people, like the sports media everywhere, have the attention span of a gnat and only a few of them think beyond what's happened in the last week, and the latest flash-in-the-pan. Right now they're all looking at how they voted last year and saying, "Hey...Johan Santana was awesome last year too? Wow! Where the heck were we on that?" Ninnies.
Posted by: Carmen at November 17, 2006 05:12 PMI, too, would weep large tears of sorrow if Santana were ever to wear a Yankees uniform. See, now I'm going to have nightmares about it.
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at November 17, 2006 06:24 PM:wub:
Posted by: jamar1700 at November 17, 2006 07:43 PMI think his attitude is what makes him so great. He has a kind of confidence that is unshakeable, in fact so much so that he doesn't have to throw it in anyone's face by being arrogant. He is so incredibly sure of himself. When he pitches a less than perfect game, he acknowledges that it wasn't his best and says he will do better. When he pitches brilliantly, he says he felt strong and in control of his stuff, and that the team made some great plays behind him that helped him feel comfortable at the plate. He never gets down on himself or blames anyone else after a loss, yet he never fails to give credit to the team after a win. I think he's the Dalai Lama of baseball. Today in the Strib he said, "There's not a better feeling in the world than to make people happy." See what I mean? And remember the flowers and balloons under his hat bill? "Because that's what life is all about, happiness and flowers." Sigh...I love him.
Posted by: slw at November 17, 2006 07:44 PMShoot, I meant "on the mound," not "at the plate."
Posted by: slw at November 17, 2006 07:46 PMHuzzah!
Posted by: Spacey Stacey at November 17, 2006 08:14 PMI went to a firefighters chili cookoff today BG...I thought of you...and CALIENTE!Johan.
Posted by: BAT bandwagoner at November 17, 2006 10:09 PMHey! Did any other batlings go to see Justin at Southdale today??
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at November 18, 2006 06:01 PMMy best friend's cat had kittens-I named one of the girls Yasmile, after my favorite pitcher's wife. Yea! She's pretty much my new best friend.
Posted by: Erin at November 18, 2006 08:28 PMMorneau upsets field in AL MVP race. That's the Cytana award, and MVP for the Twins, one less for the bitch-sox.
