Batgirl and Jeb are very pleased to announce the upcoming arrival of a new member of their farm system.

This BatBaby shall come into the world just as pitchers and catchers report next year. Prospective name thus far is Francisca Johanna Justine Josephine Michelle Luisa Nikola Juanita Dennys Sampler, or the masculine version thereof. Suggestions are always welcome. And, as the time draws nigh, Batgirl and Jeb would like your opinions--what position should we train him/her to play?
p.s. this entry was posted by Batgirl, accidentally logged in as Twayn, for whom she just created an account.
Posted by twayn at September 18, 2006 10:10 PMIf he/she's a lefty, definitely a pitcher, with El Presidente-esque skills.
And congrats!!!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at September 18, 2006 10:19 PMWOHO!!! Congrats! but the really important question is who will the little tiks Boy freind be?
Posted by: paco3791 at September 18, 2006 10:19 PMcongratulations! just remember to teach him/her to bat left handed. and its never too early to buy a QuickSwing.
Posted by: kirbyg6 at September 18, 2006 10:20 PMCongrats, Bat Girl! This is SO you next October (yeah, that's right, you heard it here first)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90eUhKD6Fm8
Posted by: JMK at September 18, 2006 10:21 PMWith apologies to Phil Rizzuto, holy cow!
CONGRATS! HURRAH! My suggestion? Left handed heat is always hott, remember that.
Posted by: L. at September 18, 2006 10:25 PMI'd have to agree with HG: a pitcher would be great. Liriano will likely be considering retirement by the time the BatBaby is old enough to break into the bigs.
Congrats!!
Posted by: "Nick" at September 18, 2006 10:26 PMCongratulations!
Posted by: M at September 18, 2006 10:26 PMCongratulations! And catcher. TOTALLY catcher.
Posted by: Katharriet at September 18, 2006 10:29 PMCongrats, Batgirl! Since this child will come along the time Ps and Cs report, those are the obvious choices.
Now, how does one go about knitting Twins booties? Hmmmm....
Posted by: TwinsKiz at September 18, 2006 10:30 PMWow! Congratulations!
Pitchers get all the glory, but I have always thought that catchers are the smartest guys on the field. Seems appropriate for a literary-academic family.
Secure the child's right arm to his/her torso until motor skills have been established. "The Show" is always looking for a lefty.
(I kid! I kid!)
Seriously, congrats and best wishes!
Posted by: E-6 at September 18, 2006 10:33 PMIt seems Tony Gwynn has had something to do with Batgirl and Jeb as much as he has had with the Twins this past couple months...
*cue wah guitar*
(I'm just joshing you Batgirl... and couldn't be happier for you!!)
Posted by: Neil at September 18, 2006 10:35 PM... it just occurred to me, why is "Boof" not on the name list...?
Posted by: Katharriet at September 18, 2006 10:36 PMCongrats BG! Maybe for a name you can create one using the letters of one or two of your favorite players.
Posted by: Shelley at September 18, 2006 10:43 PMCongrats! I always recommend giving a baby an honoriffic as part of their name, such as "Sir" or "Gunnery Sergeant."
Posted by: Roscoe at September 18, 2006 10:47 PMKirby.
Posted by: Eric at September 18, 2006 10:48 PMCongrats from a loyal reader! I just wanted to get into the first HUNDRED of the comments you'll get on this post!
Posted by: Drew at September 18, 2006 10:49 PMCongratulations to Batgirl, Jeb, and the rest of the Batfamily.
I think Jeter or Melky would be great names for the new batbaby. So what will we call Sooz and Goober's baby now that there is a new batbaby ?
p.e.m.
Posted by: public enemy mike at September 18, 2006 10:49 PMAh, wonderful! Congratulations!
(Have you told the BatKitties?)
Congrats and best of luck Batgirl and Jeb!
Posted by: Chuckles at September 18, 2006 10:53 PMMost prolific news, Batgirl! Congratulations on signing the next hot prospect... or whatever you crazy kids call it these days. Considering the nature of irony, what are the chances it could be twins?
Posted by: twayn at September 18, 2006 10:59 PMCongrats, BG and Jeb! :)
Posted by: Piranhtachew at September 18, 2006 11:05 PMAwwwwww - congratulations to all! And let the Batbaby figure out it's position for itself. The first one will be on it's back drooling!
My friend, Lee, a died-in-the-wool Yankees fan who reads this blog for the simple reason that it's so damn cool also sends along his best.
Does this mean you're cheering for two this post-season? How many Dome dogs with double onions can you handle? Morning sickness a factor?
Congrats!!!! You should name him #3, as in the number of W.S. titles the Twins will have won when he is born.
Posted by: Packman at September 18, 2006 11:10 PMOh my gosh! That's so awesome! Congratulations, Batgirl and Jeb!!!!!
No real suggestions at the moment. I may have some later. *nods*
Posted by: Candace at September 18, 2006 11:13 PMThis thought just in: Are we going to get the reenactment in Legovision?
Posted by: Beth at September 18, 2006 11:14 PMCONGRATS, BG AND JEB!!
I have always loved catchers. Always.
Congrats, Beeg and Jeb!
If it's a boy, train him to be a shortstop. Those guys are dreamy.
If it's a girl, I suppose the best course of action is to train her to be a blogger. You'll need someone to take over your empire someday.
Again, congrats, guys.
Posted by: Will at September 18, 2006 11:24 PMI am speechless. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Posted by: LaurieNY at September 18, 2006 11:30 PMCouldn't be happier for you both. A BatBaby! Just think! How wonderful. Really, congratulations.
Terry Ryan will need a replacement at some point. I think a BG-offspring might do quite well in the role.
Posted by: sacky at September 18, 2006 11:31 PMCongrats BG!
Baby Boof?
and then maybe he can legally change his name to john paul.
Posted by: gina at September 18, 2006 11:45 PMWhat fantastic news! Congratulations!
Posted by: pollyannah at September 18, 2006 11:50 PMCongratulations BG! I have no suggestions on the name, but I do wonder... will the baby be bornin Red Sox country? Does that mean it will become a Sox fan first and Twins fan second?
Nature or nurture, epic!
Posted by: MNPundit at September 19, 2006 12:09 AMI'd have to agree with the pitcher/catcher suggestions, depending on handedness. Of course... the latter depends on how strong the BatFamily's knees are.
But please don't name him Boof. Or name her Boofina. :shivers:
Posted by: neutrino boi at September 19, 2006 12:23 AMOh, and Beeg, in that picture it looks like you might have something wrong with your hip. Surprised you didn't see that, with the arrow pointing to it and all. You'll probably want to get that checked out.
Posted by: Will at September 19, 2006 12:24 AMCongrats to you Bat-people! I will second Pundit's concerns, though. I have to wonder what the proximity to Red Sox Nation would do to your child's perceptions; the rampant paranoia that I tend to see from them could do serious damage to your child's enjoyment of the true wonders of sport--nay, of life--like the Twins. In other words, it sounds like you have your work cut out for you.
Posted by: mk at September 19, 2006 12:30 AMJust whatever you do, make sure the little one bats lefty.
Mazel tov!
Posted by: RK & WV at September 19, 2006 12:33 AMCongratulations batgirl! As for what position, you'll first have to see when the batbaby chooses to report for Spring training :).
Posted by: Bob at September 19, 2006 12:34 AMCongrats to the whole batfamily!!! My suggestion would be 3rd...the Twins could use a really awesome 3rd baseman..one for the history books!
Posted by: allie at September 19, 2006 12:58 AMCongarts bat-girl and Jeb I'd say A left handed third baseman would be pretty sweet!
Posted by: Paul at September 19, 2006 01:01 AMAlmost forgot Name Sugestion "Harman" if it's a Boy of Course Johanna would be a cool girls name.
Posted by: Paul at September 19, 2006 01:06 AMGlares at Will ... Hey! Girls can be catchers & shortstops too ya know! Fastpitch. Trust me. You'll learn to love it.
Congrats to the Bats et.al.
Posted by: jamar1700 at September 19, 2006 02:00 AMCongratulations!
I vote utility player. You know, less stats, more sass.
Posted by: TwinsFoghorn at September 19, 2006 02:27 AMHow about Santana as a middle name? Multi-purpose as well
It occurs to me that you will have been conceiving just as the Twins were getting it together this year; a coincidence? I think not
Congratulations guys!!!!!!!
Posted by: dan in london at September 19, 2006 03:44 AMCongratulations! Paul stole my name idea, but I'll repeat it anyway. Johanna is a great name, and not just because that's my kid's name.
Get ready for a great ride, BG and Jeb.
Anita in Switzerland
Posted by: Anita at September 19, 2006 04:27 AMSpeaking as a soon to be father myself, congratulations, BG and Jeb. My suggestion would be Kirby. Either that or Genghis.
Posted by: Mike at September 19, 2006 06:39 AMCongratulations!

Posted by: kafumbly at September 19, 2006 06:49 AMCongratulations!!!
Posted by: Rach at September 19, 2006 07:12 AMMethinks I see a Batbaby clothed perennially in Twins and Batgirl togs. How adorable!
Congrats to the Batfamily!
Posted by: JetChick at September 19, 2006 07:15 AMGina, isn't "Baby Boof" the stuff we'll be cleaning up all over the place?
Posted by: Jeb at September 19, 2006 07:21 AMCongrats!!
As far a names, it would HAVE to start with a "J", whatever you choose.
A little early to start thinking about starting position, but you may want to begin immediately by strapping his/her right arm to his/her side and having him/her get used to using the left arm for everything...
Posted by: dlarso01 at September 19, 2006 07:28 AMCongrats on the pending new addition to the BatClan!
(Oh, and, um, like....way to be Twins and stuff)
Posted by: Ilk at September 19, 2006 07:29 AMMany, many, many heartfelt congrats, Batgirl and Jeb! How exciting.
Eeeeew, baby boof.
Also, BG got a small snippet in the Strib today as a Web Review. The sprained phalange/steely-eyed rocket man Radke entry was marked as a "must-read." What I don't get is that it warns people to visit, not dwell, as it will warp our senses. What, imagining LNP on a magic fucking unicorn is warped? Since when?
Posted by: FH at September 19, 2006 07:49 AMCONGRATS BG and Jeb!!! That is so awesome. You'll be an awesome bat-mommy and bat-daddy, respectively.
Posted by: LeftCenter at September 19, 2006 07:51 AM
I couldn't be happier for you both.
Bring on the baby sass!
Posted by: TwinsGoddess at September 19, 2006 07:54 AMMany congratulations. Just count your blessings that the whole bat-family is on one page. I came home after work last week to see my adorable little girl wearing assorted (St. Louis) Cardinals paraphernalia.
Posted by: Zebano at September 19, 2006 07:56 AMYou know, for some reason, I was thinking the BatFamily would be expanding soon. Something about the adoring coos over Goober's BatBaby ;)
And Boof is an excellent name. Start the training for DH early.
Posted by: CarrieICL at September 19, 2006 07:58 AM;-)
Congratulations - I wish you, Jeb and the baby to be named later - much love and joy=)
It may be plain and simple but - I like Michael for a boy and well your choice for a little girl is most excellent- but she would definately need a nickname =)
Much Love
Wonder Woman
Congratulations! That is great news!
Posted by: Soccerfan at September 19, 2006 08:18 AM
What fabulous news! A teacher at Young RD's school just had a baby named Nathan Joe Lastnamehere.
In that spirit, RD thinks Bartlett Jason (BJ) Batbaby would be a fine name, speaking to both athletic and intellectural prowess. It would be even better than Davis Ron (Doc) Batbaby.
Best, RD
Posted by: RonDavis at September 19, 2006 08:18 AMCongratulations!!!
Posted by: Fox Mulder at September 19, 2006 08:24 AMCongratulations!
I assume that you'll be teaching BatBaby blogging skills, because the world needs more Sassy Bloggers!
Posted by: JustBeth at September 19, 2006 08:30 AMWoo hoo! That is exceptionally good news, BG. Congrats to you both. If you need help with the whole raising-a-Twins-fan-a-long-way-from-Minnesota thing, just ask me; I have an 18-month-old whose vocabulary includes "Twins", "TC Bear", "Dome Dog", "Boof", and "Joe", and he's been born and raised here in DC. So it can be done, though being in lunatic territory up there in Boston may make it tough. In any case, savor every moment - and choose Kirby as a name, regardless of the child's gender. I think that'd be a beauty.
Posted by: adidasman at September 19, 2006 08:32 AMWow! That's just--wow! Congratulations! I really like the Johanna suggestion for a girl, Kirby for a boy.
Between Beth's Legovision idea and Dan In London's calculations, I'm getting a really interesting visual here...ERASE ERASE ERASE!
Posted by: smaki at September 19, 2006 08:35 AMCongratu-both-lations. He/she should definitely train to be an umpire. We need more good umpires.
Posted by: nailbiter at September 19, 2006 08:36 AMCongratulations. RE: names, I'm old school, because I'm old. Don't forget something like "Harmon" or "Tony O". Maybe "Zoilo". Or "Herb". Or even "Halsey".
Best wishes.
Posted by: Jeff A at September 19, 2006 08:40 AMCongrats BG & Jeb. Hopefully a Massachussets birth won't have the effect of imposing citizenship into Red Sox Nation.
Two other notes: First of all, shortstop is the sharpest position out there. However, you maybe don't want a young 'un able to move that quickly in the early years. Secondly, does Goober & Sooz's baby become the BatCousin, to minimize BatBaby confusion?
OK, one other note: Positive energy to Wayne "Big Fella" Hattaway in his cancer recovery. When he is fully recovered, maybe he could offer off-season child care to the little BatFella?
Posted by: fiesta at September 19, 2006 08:43 AMThat's wonderful! Seriously, if it's a boy you've got to tie the right arm to the body so it can do nothing. Nuture that left arm!
Posted by: Tim at September 19, 2006 08:44 AMCongratulations! What great news!
I've always like Toni Olivia -- !
Posted by: funoka at September 19, 2006 08:45 AMI think Nicky/Nikki would be a great name. Have him/her be a switch hitting 3rd baseman.
Posted by: bc twins fan at September 19, 2006 08:48 AMCongrats!!!
Oh and let the baby pick his/her own position. I sure he/she will choose well.
Posted by: Army of Dad at September 19, 2006 08:52 AMBut won't Sooz and Goober's child be promoted to BatToddler by then?
Problem solved.
Posted by: heraldguy at September 19, 2006 08:53 AMOh my goodness! What great news! Here I was expecting another round of Hottest Chick and instead I get news of a Batbaby!! May I suggest that Batbaby take Jason Bartlett as their boyfriend for next year? Also a wonderful name, boy or girl, is Jack Morris.
Congratulations!
-HooliganKat
I offer my congratulations. I am confused by the references to the Boston area. I know you went to college in Rhode Island, but did not know you were planning on being in this area. Why? Could I meet you at some point?I'll wipe the drool off{not the baby's-mine} first.Al
Posted by: al at September 19, 2006 08:55 AMJust want to add my congratulations... and here I didn't check the site last night before heading to bed because I was SURE nothing new or important would be added that late on an off-day. That'll teach me.
As for names, you know very well that no matter what you name him/her, you're just going to end up calling her/him "Boof" as a nickname... and then he/she will some day legally change the name to Boof... so you might as well just make it official "right out of the box" (so to speak).
Again, my congrats to you both!
JC
Posted by: JimCrikket at September 19, 2006 08:59 AMOh congrats batgirl!! I think a great nickname for the baby will be sweetcheeks. I know, I know thats Hunters name but it will have a whole different meaning for the baby.
Congrats!!!
Posted by: californiamaki at September 19, 2006 09:08 AMCongrats, you guys!! I bet you've got some very excited BatGrandparents-to-be.
Posted by: WC at September 19, 2006 09:08 AMOh, and I think the baby should be a catcher since its the thinking mans/womans position.
Posted by: californiamaki at September 19, 2006 09:09 AMCongratulations! I say Jason is an apt name. The more Jasons, the better the Twins. I'd train the BatChild to play shortstop; they tend to be the best overall atheletes in the first-year player draft and best suited to move to another position to help an organization, if need be.
Posted by: JaerBesan at September 19, 2006 09:14 AMWhat wonderful news - congrats to the Bat-family. I humbly suggest my all time favorite name:Zoltan Fabian.
Posted by: mn.minx at September 19, 2006 09:27 AMCongratulations, Batgirl! I second (or possibly seventeenth) the motion for a shortstop. But if the Batbaby has as good a grasp of the fundamentals as his/her parents, he/she will probably be put in that position on her/his first Little League team anyway.
Posted by: Redbird at September 19, 2006 09:28 AM(don't hit me)
Put it on the boooooarrrrd, yes!

That is just so cool!!! I'm so very excited for you both and it will be lovely to have the two cousins so close together in age!! MORE BATBABIES!!!
(I kind of like kids so... let me know when you guys need a babysitter, k? I might be able to work out some flights...)

Congrats on the roster addition!
Name: Kirby
Position: catcher (because I second californiamaki)
Congrats to you both. May you learn to love sleeping pills. Anyway, as for a position let me say this: Stay away from catcher. I caught for eight years and now I have the knees of a seventy year old. Every time I stand up it sounds like someone is crinkling foil.
Posted by: Adam at September 19, 2006 10:02 AMCongratulations!
Regarding a position for BatBaby: Might I recommend AVOIDING the "breech" position? (Sorry.)
Posted by: Salt-Man Z at September 19, 2006 10:06 AMMazel tov to the whole bat family!!!
As to names, I like Boof--will never have to worry about another Boof in school. Kirby as suggested by others would be cool too.
You could go with Dick N. Bert
DAM
Posted by: DAM-DC Twins Fan at September 19, 2006 10:06 AMCongratulations! Being a parent is great - especially when your children get to be adults and love baseball too. As for a name, I'm surprised Torii isn't on your list.
Posted by: Attyfan at September 19, 2006 10:12 AMCongratulations, BG and Jeb!
I personally like Johanna Francisca for a girl or Joseph Francisco for a boy.

Clearly it has to be named Jason.
Posted by: andy in wrigleyville at September 19, 2006 10:34 AMCongratulations!
Left-handed pitcher, definitely. If they're a natural righty, tie that right hand behind their back :-)
(I keep threatening to do that to my nieces and upcoming nephew, but I don't think my brothers are taking me seriously)
Posted by: jenninseattle at September 19, 2006 10:50 AMCongratulations on your exciting news. Making a memorable twins season even better. What about Bradke - he'd haver the heart of lion for sure.

Well, Lewwwwww (or Loouuuuuuu) would work! As would Boof (or... Boof-ina? Boof-ella? Boof-erella!)
Posted by: messy girl at September 19, 2006 11:12 AMCongratulations! Parenthood will bring you more joy than you can imagine! Can't go wrong with the name Kirby!
Posted by: bayareatwinsfan at September 19, 2006 11:47 AMCongrats. My baby girl is named Larkin which everyone assumes is after Gene Larkin since I am such a Twins fan. My co-workers call her Geno. Maybe you can work on getting infant sized Twins Jerseys - I really want one for her but instead I had to settle for the pink cheerleader outfit...
Posted by: Amber at September 19, 2006 12:07 PMCongratulations -

Postion - CF
Oh, wow! Congrats to the two of you! That's very exciting news.
Why not Bert? Or Bertha? Okay, no, maybe not Bertha.

How come no-one has suggested 'Bombo' yet? After all, getting elected write-in president of the U of M student body has to count for something! (assuming the feminine would be 'Bomba'?)
Position - agree that Third Base would be great.
Posted by: Twinsaholic at September 19, 2006 01:20 PMAre we yet certain that the BatFetus is not... BATTWINS!?!? Because that would soooo totally rock.
For those of us who don't have to change those diapers, that is.
Nothing to add but all best wishes.

Posted by: brent at September 19, 2006 01:31 PMIt might be wise to sit the BatKitties down right now and have a little chat in order to prepare them for new Designated Hitter. Just a thought...
Posted by: JetChick at September 19, 2006 01:43 PMI suppose naming the kid "Sit Down, Bitches" wouldn't be the best idea? Even if it does predestine him or her to be a Cy Young winner?
Congratulations on the baby. Perhaps, if it is a girl, you could name her after the belle of amherst? Belle.
Err...I mean, Emily.
Posted by: Paul at September 19, 2006 01:45 PMI'm sort of leaning toward Boof now.
(BatFetus?!)
Posted by: LaurieNY at September 19, 2006 01:48 PMAs someone whose oldest child attended his first baseball game at 18 months ... and a World Series game at age 3 (several friends have still not forgiven me, tho I reject the charge that the ticket was 'wasted.') ... many congrats. Parenthood is a blast. Except for coaching t-ball, which can lead to insanity.
As for positions, let me add one slight nuance to the 'catcher' suggestion made by many: left-HITTING catcher. Scouts will drool.
But drool is another subject you'll be learning more about. ;-)
Posted by: tgd at September 19, 2006 02:03 PMI hate to break it to you Bat-girl,,,, but the BOOF'S have it.. congrats
Posted by: hook10 at September 19, 2006 02:28 PMThe kid should be named Terry, after Terry Mulholland. Reasons:
1. Name can be used for a boy or a girl...
2. Name will symbolize age and wisdom beyond the baby's years...
Congratulations! He/She should pick their own position but, 2nd base is always good.
Posted by: Twin-X at September 19, 2006 02:32 PMParker.

Posted by: T.C. Rafters at September 19, 2006 03:50 PMSave the naming for later. But call the in-vitro batbaby "Littler Nicky" to insure that he/she slide out hands first rather than feet first.
Congrats! Maybe the bat-baby will bring good luck to the twins this year (and next year, too...).
As for names, I vote for Micheal/a in honor of cuddyer or redmond (or Micheal ryan or restovich, too...). Almost as many mikes as jasons!
Posted by: Hannah! at September 19, 2006 04:21 PMhmmm...what about Chacarron for a name?

and I think Torii is a lovely name. or Francisco/a. :)
and position.. utility player.. left handed utility player.
Posted by: Lynnie at September 19, 2006 05:01 PMDonna is always a good name. Not very common, and you know she'll have a great role model!
As far as a position... not a pitcher. Because pitchers are usually my boyfriends, and having the BatBaby as a boyfriend?? So wrong.
Posted by: Donnalove at September 19, 2006 05:27 PMCongrats BG & Jeb!
Dear BatBabytoBe - Please be a good baby and sleep thru the night by the time the season starts. It will be very hard on BatGirl to post late night blogs if you are up assisting her.
Been there & lived - Jaguar
Congrats!
(By the way, duct tape a glove onto the Baby-to-be-named-later's right hand. That's what my dad did to me....)
Posted by: Twinsboy at September 19, 2006 05:30 PMVery big CONGRATS Batgirl!
Posted by: cal at September 19, 2006 05:39 PMUm, I already read your site everyday; and your latest book is next in my que to read, and I'm sure I'll have read the rest by the time the naming comes; and I've already bought from the BatStore... But, I will find some other way to support you in all your activities if the little one actually gets a Twins name. If s/he can't be named after a particular Twin, at least make it something that would sound read good if the whole Dome was roaring it, like Booooof or Lewwwww. That would be sweeeet.
Posted by: ludekes at September 19, 2006 05:50 PMcongrats!
Posted by: goesboom at September 19, 2006 06:05 PMWow. It's amazing what happens when the Twins have an off day.
Congrats!
Posted by: Brian at September 19, 2006 06:15 PMCongratulations, Team BG! I say there's no reason to rush this whole 'naming' thing; i mean, the playoffs haven't even started, and i think a WS MVP award could clarify things somewhat, don't you?
Posted by: AT at September 19, 2006 06:18 PMHow wonderful! Congratulations to the Batfamily!!
Pado
Posted by: Pado at September 19, 2006 06:22 PMWrigleyville beat me to it, so I'll go one step further: How about Jason Jason Jason as a name?
And if there is anything that both Terry Mulholland and Jesse Orosco prove, you want your kids to be left-handed relief pitchers. The BatBaby will be employed to age 59. And Orosco threw as a left but "hit" as a righty.
Posted by: The Commish at September 19, 2006 06:31 PMCongratulations!
And I see this as a very auspicious sign, as I was pregnant only twice - in 87 and 91. Batbaby will doubtlessly bring good luck! I have a great photo of the two of them in their world series sweatshirts (one of them arrived in time for most of the season - the good part!)
As for the name...the winner of the BOD honor's...?
Um, PJ? Maybe it's YOU who needs to get preggers again! :^)
Posted by: Donnalove at September 19, 2006 06:47 PMAwww, (s)he'll be so cute! And Sassy! Are you guys attenting any of the games this week? Awww, BatFetus' first Twins game!
I just said "awwww" twice. Now thrice. It's because BatBabies are so preeeecious!!
Posted by: JanineInDC at September 19, 2006 06:51 PMMore congrats! And a question:
Is "Johanna" pronounced "Joe-Hannah" or "Yohann-uh" ?
Posted by: Roadguy at September 19, 2006 07:37 PMMy heartiest congratulations.
I suppose Paul, Ozzie or AJ are out of the question,,,
:)
Posted by: LeftWingCracker at September 19, 2006 08:19 PMCongrats guys! May I assume the BatBaby will be wearing tall socks from infancy?
Posted by: Say Rah! at September 19, 2006 08:29 PMTall socks on a Bat-Baby? I like it...
Oh! You also need to make sure Bat-baby knows the difference between real bats, and bat-kittie tails.
Posted by: Twinsboy at September 19, 2006 09:22 PMGirl: Johanna
Boy: Zoilo Boof
Infinite congratulations, BG and Jeb.
Posted by: Erin at September 19, 2006 09:22 PMYAY! Congrats and best of luck!
I'm old school too. "Harmon" sounds good to me, and if it's a girl, "Harmony" sounds good or better.
Posted by: Peter at September 19, 2006 09:37 PMCongrats BAT MOMMA!!! And still, with something kicking at your innards, a very funny post. I have to hope it's a she, just for the name's sake.
Posted by: jordache at September 19, 2006 09:46 PMPeter waited long enough, but came up with the perfect solution-superb;no matter the gender.
Posted by: al at September 19, 2006 09:47 PMCongrats to the bat-clan, and huzzah!
Posted by: Mac at September 19, 2006 09:55 PMHappy news! Everything witty, funny and heartfelt been said already. I think this is a GOOD omen.
Posted by: Linda at September 19, 2006 09:57 PMGee, I get busy ONE day and don't check in until evening and I miss the big news!!! Congratulatins doesn't seem strong enough. I am so happy for the perspective parent's/agents.
Righty/Lefty,Infielder/outfielder, pitcher/catcher--it doesn't really matter. This baby will be great--it's all in the genes.
Just remember during one's birth it is the only time where it is a good idea to slide headfirst.
Posted by: Sandee at September 19, 2006 10:04 PMLooks like I'm late to the party, but Jeb still better put my name down for cigars when the big day arrives. Whatever you do, don't name him Ryan. That's my name.
Posted by: Ryan at September 19, 2006 10:52 PMhow about Boofetta?
Posted by: Elle at September 19, 2006 10:59 PMCongratulations, Batgirl! May the Batbean bring you joy and the Twins success!
As to the position, the coolest baseball players I've known are all catchers. I'm sure all the other positions are nice too, but the C is for Cool.
Posted by: Mark at September 19, 2006 11:14 PMI've decided I'm neutral on the first name, but the middle name should definitely be the last name spelled backwards.
Posted by: Roadguy at September 20, 2006 02:05 AMCongratulations! I think Joseph Nathan LastName would be fantastic. What a great season to begin a new chapter in your life!
I also hope you're having Twins!
Posted by: Brooklynegg at September 20, 2006 05:52 AMCongratulations!
Hopefully the Bitch Sox won't make the playoffs, this will give you less temptation to hit the sauce.
What a lucky baby to have such smart and creative parents. I'm sure (s)he'll get to hear many wonderful bedtime stories! About magic unicorns, perhaps?
Posted by: neckrolls at September 20, 2006 12:11 PMWow... awesome news. You'll love parenthood. Kids are definately the coolest!!
I ceratinly hope the MVP candidate gets consideration. Justin is a nice name... first, middle or otherwise. (Justina is deifnately...not)
Posted by: rotrhed at September 20, 2006 12:43 PMToriii. With three Is.
Posted by: SC at September 20, 2006 01:30 PMMy mom (who I read your posts to) sends her congrats and says you should name the BatBaby Jason if it's a boy and Johanna if it's a girl. (Just keep in mind that said name advice is coming from a woman who named her daughter Lynnette.. *shudders*)
Posted by: Lynnie at September 20, 2006 01:58 PMCongratulations. How about Harmon (Harmony?)for the name.
Posted by: cdwilson68 at September 20, 2006 03:47 PMCongratulations to Batgirl and Jeb! I actually quite like the names Josephine and Luisa, and I would say that even if they weren't my boyfriends.
Yeay! Yeay you two! You're going to be awesome parents. Just awesome.
