A very sad day for the BatFamily. Goober and Sooz's dear bunny, Snowy, left this mortal coil yesterday. Snowy was an extraordinary rabbit. She had full range of the house and took advantage of it admirably. There's nothing really cuter than sitting in a house and seeing a bunny hop by. Her happiness led to an extraordinarily long life that was still much too short. Snowy's interests included getting her nose rubbed, getting stroked by your foot, and being incredibly cute. She liked to sleep under Goober and Sooz's bed, eat yogurt drops, she conquered wood floors and stairs at the age of six, ate half a bag of triple washed salad every morning, and was brave, strong, and sweet. In her formative years, her name was Snowy the Cute Bunny, but her full name was Snowy Victoria Sullivan. She died peacefully at home yesterday afternoon at nearly ten years old. She will be much missed.

oh, what a cute bunny! I'm so very sorry. she looks so sweet.
but don't worry, she's waiting at Rainbow Bridge. (linky)

Posted by: Moe at August 24, 2006 07:10 AMAwww kafumbly, you shouldn't a done that, it's not good to get all teary eyed at work.
Posted by: Paco3791 at August 24, 2006 07:18 AMI extend my sympathies to Goober and Sooz.
Posted by: JustBeth at August 24, 2006 08:00 AMI'll add my condolences. Having lost a family pet recently (and so many others over the years), I certainly relate to the very real heartbreak. Snowy was as lucky to have found such a wonderful family as the family was to have found her. Each made the others' lives better, I'm sure.

Posted by: JimCrikket at August 24, 2006 08:04 AMI, too, am so sorry for your loss. xo.
Posted by: christy at August 24, 2006 08:07 AMMy most heartfelt condolences. We, too, lost a pet recently, and came very close to losing another one earlier this week. I'm happy that Snowy led a long, full life, and got to die at home with her family; that doesn't lessen the pain for Goober and Sooz, though. My thoughts are with the BatFamily.
Posted by: CarrieICL at August 24, 2006 08:21 AMSo sorry for your loss, Goober and Sooz.

What a lovely bunny. I'm so sorry.
Bunnies have so much personality--I know her presence will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to the BatFamily.
Posted by: JetChick at August 24, 2006 09:02 AMIt is always heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet. Snowy sounds very special. My condolences.
Posted by: Cathy at August 24, 2006 09:17 AMOh, I love rabbits. Snowy looks and sounds like a great companion, and I'm saddened by her departure.
Posted by: Kurtis at August 24, 2006 09:40 AMWhat a sweetheart she was.
My sincerest condolences to Goober & Sooz.
Posted by: HooliganKat at August 24, 2006 09:56 AMI'm sorry to read about Snowy. She lived a long and fulfilled life. I'm sorry she's gone...
Posted by: Newton at August 24, 2006 10:00 AMAw. 10 years is fairly long-lived for a rabbit, though, correct? I hope Snowy got a chance to chew a few last wires before her time.
Posted by: Roscoe at August 24, 2006 10:27 AMOh guys. I'm so very sorry. I'm sorry for the first morning you had to wake up and realize she's gone. I'm sorry for all the times your heart will skip because you think you see her out of the corner of your eye. I'm sorry for every time you choke up because you see her toys, or food dish or noseprint on a window. I'm sorry for every time you'll sit straight up in bed because you think you feel the weight of her on the end of the blankets.
The fuzzy faces always leave way too soon.
Posted by: BAT bandwagoner at August 24, 2006 10:38 AMWow, I just lost my bunny yesterday too. His name was Doughnut, and he also lived free range in the house (at least for the first couple years until we had kids). He was a white lop as well, with some brown mixed in. He loved to run back and forth between the bedrooms for no apparent reason. I will miss him. He was only 6.
Posted by: TX Ken at August 24, 2006 11:09 AMThe priest who offciated at a wedding I once attended for a couple who had a dear pet rabbit offered that "you're nobody until some bunny loves you" - and Snowy must have loved Goober and Suz.
Posted by: john r. tunis at August 24, 2006 11:33 AMThanks, everyone, for your kind words. We will miss this bunny more than we can say.
TX Ken - I'm sorry for your loss as well. Maybe Snowy and Doughnut have become fast friends in bunny heaven.
(john r. tunis, were you at our wedding?)
Posted by: Sooz at August 24, 2006 11:55 AMYou can be a mean spirited SOB in this game - the kind of guy who looks forward to throwing a 95 mph fast ball at a batter's head or slashing an infielder's leg with your sharpened cleats in a slide to third, but even tough guys get kinda sad when a pet passes on - especially a pet bunny who never hurt anybody. Thanks to BG for the memorial essay and to kafumbly for the link to Rainbow Bridge (not to be missed): http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm
Posted by: roy hobbs at August 24, 2006 12:04 PMThanks for the link kaf and very sorry for the loss BG and family. Have had many pets pass over my lifetime and it hurts every time. (nice to know about the Rainbow Bridge)
Posted by: TAR at August 24, 2006 02:18 PMIt's always terrible to lose a pet. So sorry for your loss.
Posted by: L. at August 24, 2006 03:04 PMSorry to hear about your loss. I've known plenty of rabbits who destroyed the entire electrical system of the house when allowed to run free, so Snowy must have been a wonderfully temperamented rabbit.
Posted by: xian at August 24, 2006 04:09 PMThe key is in the bunny-proofing.
Posted by: Goober at August 24, 2006 04:43 PMI would be interested to know the details of the bunny-proofing and housetraining, whether Snowy was allowed to mingle with the BatBaby, and if you might be getting another bunny anytime soon.
I'm sorry to hear the news, Goober.
Posted by: frightwig at August 24, 2006 05:14 PMAw, I'm so sorry to hear that. What a sweet bunny. :(
Posted by: Stacy at August 24, 2006 07:42 PMMy condolences. :(
My grandma had a rabbit when she was a kid. She had
to sell it during the Depression.
Oh sadness- hugs to Sooz and Goober.
Rest in Peace Snowy -
Much Love
Wonder Woman
My condolences to Goober & Sooz, and BatBaby too, for they have all lost their bunny.
Rest in peace Snowy...
Posted by: bubblemint at August 24, 2006 09:31 PMa darling picture. Hard to lose a friend. Sigh.
Posted by: Linda at August 24, 2006 10:31 PMSo sorry for your loss. We love our dear pets. We pet them, kiss them, and care for them. In return they love us dearly. Having lost several much loved pets I know how difficult it is. I have 2 cats who are 14and 15 years old and, well, they are old. And my dog. I can't even bear to think about life without that exceptional bully dog snoring on the sofa. Love, affection, and humor--life with pets.
Take care.
Sincerely,
kal
