Now THAT is More Like It

The word is the Chairman has moved into third place in voting for the All-Star Game, behind Varitek and Pudge. Go Chairman!

BG! You beat me to the punch! I just read that too. I am so glad that my dead goldfish and my late Grandma voted for him. We need to put the big push on for Thursday and vote again and again. It must be because Triples are HOT! Who knows what the fans will do if he hits a home run tonight. GO JOE!

Posted by: Stacy Parks at June 27, 2006 03:51 PM

If we keep it up, he can get higher. He has gained something like 400,000 votes in teh last week. There are a few das left. if he can do it again...

Posted by: AdamOnFirst at June 27, 2006 03:57 PM

Yay for Charirman!

Posted by: Twinsboy at June 27, 2006 04:12 PM

That is totally awesome. Hopefully he can at least get into second, thus almost forcing Ozzie to put him in.

GO JOE!

Time to dig up some more dead relatives and get them email addresses. I'm sure my maternal grandparents would have wanted the Chairman playing in the All-Star game. Vote Joe, and vote Mauer often... time is running out.

Posted by: twayn at June 27, 2006 04:32 PM

I knew you'd be all over it, BG. Happily logging in my 25 votes...with lots of made-up email addresses.

I need a ruling. And this is, I believe, an area that the Batlings are singularly well equipped to arbitrate.

The current batch of young Twins is composed of a fine array of talented and attractive young men. But, my wife, poor dear, is having a difficult time telling them apart.

No, not in the traditional "Who's that playing shortstop?" or "What's number 27's name?" kind of thing. My wife is most excellent at that kind of object recognition.

Rather, as I have attempted to spell out for her, some of the young Twins are hotties, some are cuties and some are just dreamy. Cases in point:

Joe Mauer - hottie
Nick Punto, Michael Cuddyer, Juan Rincon - cuties
Johan Santana - hottie
Jason Bartlett - dreamy

Alas, however, we have reached an impasse...

Which is Justin Morneau? Is it his cute smile that dominates? Is it his dreamy eyes and languid demeanor? Is it his hot, hot, hot power-hitter skillz? We can't decide.

It's up to you...

Justin Morneau: hottie, cutie or just dreamy?

Note: to all the boyz with emotional ages under 15 who are dismayed by this discussion - yes, I'm a male; yes, happily married; yes, I prefer the opposite gender; no, the foregoing analysis doesn't conflict with that; and I have no problem with it. Flame away if you must, but it says more about you than it does about me...

Posted by: ThatsRich at June 27, 2006 04:41 PM

Cutie doesn't really work, he's Canadian.

Hottie is good, but doesn't get the full effect and quite frankly I dislike the term "hottie".

My vote is dreamy.

I voted early and often.

I had a blast at last night's game. It felt real good to beat the Dodgers, and not just because they're from LA. I hope we can keep up the beating.

I always think of last year's June series against the Dodgers as the one that broke our spirit, even more so than losing Torii the next month. We were 35-23 going in, 4.5 games behind the BSs and 3 up in the wildcard. Then we lost 2 tough games out of 3 to the Dodgers – Hee Seop Choi killed us, including hitting a walk off homer in the first game of the series. And then we lost 2 of 3 in the next four series, sending us to 40-33, 9.5 behind Chicago and out of the lead in the wildcard race.

Payback is a bitch monkey.

It's AMAZING he moved into 3rd, but it's CRAZY that Varitek is still ahead of him.

Posted by: Stacy at June 27, 2006 05:14 PM

"Hot bat, cute glove"?

Posted by: Word Smith at June 27, 2006 05:14 PM

Rich, none of those categories fits the Dr. He's just a stud, period.

Posted by: JimCrikket at June 27, 2006 05:50 PM

Justin Morneau is 'Yummy'. There is no more to say.

Posted by: Jaguar at June 27, 2006 06:18 PM

1. BG, your use of the term 'bitch monkey' on successive days was the highlight of my today today.

2. rich, i'm uncertain. somewhere between stud and dreamy, i'd say. yummy, while lovely, brings to my mind johan more than the good Dr. oh, and word to your disclaimer.

Posted by: AT at June 27, 2006 06:25 PM

Rich-
To answer your question I think I am well qualified. I must say the word I would use for the good old Dr would be dreamy if I had to pick of those 3. I myself find him to be intriging(sp?). He is a shy power hitter....a feat I once thought impossible.

Posted by: allie at June 27, 2006 06:57 PM

OK, I finally got around to voting my 25 times.

Rich: He's pretty alright, eh?

Posted by: timprov at June 27, 2006 07:03 PM

I would say Morneau's a cutie, but specifically of the boy-next-door variety. Like, you've played little league with him all these years, and then you go off to college and he shows up at your door after graduation, and you're all, "Hel-LO!"

Like that.

I fear AT's turned me on to the joy of gazing at Terry Tiffee. But I'll always be faithful to my boy Mauer. *dreamy sigh* Gotta love those Highland Park boys...

Posted by: shyestviolet at June 27, 2006 08:48 PM

My vote is for DREAMY.

Posted by: ForMorneau at June 27, 2006 08:53 PM

Question:
Has there been any progress made on the new Mauer shirt yet?

Posted by: TwinsinBoston at June 27, 2006 09:03 PM

you only need two email addy's to vote... i've voted a billion times with just two different emails...

Posted by: Grace at June 27, 2006 09:18 PM

and don't forget to vote Torii too!

Posted by: Grace at June 27, 2006 09:31 PM

Not sure if this is appropriate to post in this particular spot, but The Chairman is FIVE FOR FIVE tonight. Is that right?? Holy buckets.

Posted by: LeftCenter at June 27, 2006 09:42 PM

Five for five and a batting average of (now) .389. The boy can hit.

Posted by: Kurtis at June 27, 2006 09:47 PM

Dear Mr. Boston,

We'll do the poll Thursday, the next off-day.

Sincerely,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at June 27, 2006 09:54 PM

LeftCenter -

That is ALWAYS appropriate to post.

Neil

The way that BoSox like Varitek are getting absurd voting numbers like the Yankees, I officially give up on people.

...except those that helped Joe pull into third.

And please, PLEASE use a write-in vote for Liriano, even though we can't vote for The Cisco Kid. Just do it anyway.

Posted by: Mike at June 27, 2006 10:32 PM

Vote for him at First base.

Hey, if it works for Ortiz...

Posted by: Torhu at June 27, 2006 11:15 PM

ThatsRich-
All 3 maybe? Even adding a few more adjectives?

Posted by: Teece at June 28, 2006 10:31 AM

Oh and GO JOE!
