Choi Hoon is back with his Korean Baseball cartoons, including an end of the year Twins round-up. Dear readers, what do you think the panels say?
Note: BG has expurgated and relaid out the cartoon for space reasons. Here is the original.

Oh, and the poor Doctor. Way harsh.
Posted by Batgirl at November 11, 2005 04:36 PMHis Ozzie Guillen strip (click my name for link) is priceless.
Posted by: expatriate at November 11, 2005 06:06 PMCool. Wish I coud read them.
Posted by: John at November 11, 2005 06:24 PMHey Expatriate,
What exactly is going on in the Ozzie Guillen strip?
My coworker and I were trying to figure it out (he reads Korean) and didn't succeed.
Anyways, it doesn't seem like John or anyone else is missing anything with the translation (according to my coworker). The drawings are the real attraction and seem to tell the whole story.
Poor Doc :(

Near as I can tell, the bullpen finally took offense to Ozzie's hand gestures (like the 'fat boy' thing for Jenks) and beat the hell out of him. Grin.

Incidentally, I *don't* read Korean. I have no idea what any of that actually says.
Posted by: expatriate at November 12, 2005 01:17 AMThe Mauer panel is awesome. No need to guess what that's saying :)
Posted by: Torhu at November 12, 2005 11:32 AMI *think* the Andy Pettite one has something to do with his deceptive pickoff move but I cannot for the life of me figure out what's buggering George Brett (click my name).
I'm also curious to know what Braden Looper was doing with the big woman in one of those playoff strips.
Posted by: let's go mets at November 12, 2005 12:43 PMUm yeah, WAY harsh! Poor Doc! :(
Too bad I have no clue what any of that says.
I found the 2004 Twins roundup... I dunno if you guys have seen it already (BG *did* say "more" korean cartoons, so it's possible)... just in case you haven't, click my name.
Posted by: let's go mets at November 12, 2005 01:46 PMWow, Mauer's OPS was only .783?
Posted by: Andre at November 13, 2005 11:31 AMPLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone find translations for these. It can be done. Click my name for last year's Mariners cartoon, with translations, courtesy of USSMariner.com.
actually, the translations are by a Mets blogger. sorry
Posted by: Ovie at November 13, 2005 12:02 PMa few translations for these, quickly done:
santana is a tour guide. he is saying that he is trying to lead these tours, but nobody seems to want to follow him.
nathan is asking rincon what the drugs were supposed to do, anyways; rincon replies that the cyber-doctor fooled him.
silva is wondering why on earth he had to lose to detroit.
in the jacque jones box: it says that it is a common trend among batters---that they cannot find the hitters box.
the joe mauer box speaks for itself. mauer, basically: `uh, coach...?'
the good doctor is saying `i had a great first month and a great last month, but everything in between wasn't good'. to which the reply: `if by `last month' you mean those two games in october...'
those were quick, sorry!
Posted by: randall at November 13, 2005 12:22 PMthanks, randall!
Posted by: kafumbly at November 13, 2005 12:25 PMyoure the man randall
Posted by: Ovie at November 13, 2005 01:11 PMI assumed that Silva was just upset about giving up a walk, but I guess not. The man set a record for lowest walk rate in modern baseball history, after all. I also thought the Santana panel was an illustration of Johan taking the AL Central to school. No?
I love the picture of Mauer taking a bat to Gardy the Gasbag. I'm glad to see that malcontent bloggers in the Twins Cities aren't the only ones who imagined that kind of tension and rage building up within the Chairman, after all the crap he took from his coaches and the load he had to carry in the lineup this season.
Posted by: frightwig at November 13, 2005 05:34 PMI was hoping the Santana panel was about sitting the bitches down.
Posted by: Skorch at November 13, 2005 05:56 PMI read the Mauer panel as Gardy throwing himself between a pitch (the white thing in Gady's tummy) and Mauer, to protect the knee, I assume.
Posted by: amr at November 14, 2005 08:56 AMIs that Lew Ford trying to cheer up Silva?
Posted by: Roscoe at November 14, 2005 09:43 AMDear Roscoe:
I thought it was Bradke. It kinda looks like the Bradke representation from last year.
Just my humble opinion, though.

Posted by: k-bro at November 14, 2005 12:46 PMYou're probably correct, amr. *sigh*
Posted by: frightwig at November 14, 2005 03:54 PMHi!
I have seen this site by chance, with looking up the nytimes report about choi hoon.
I am korean in Seoul who like Mr. Choi's mlb cartoon.
However, Because I can't write English well, it takes much time to write this short story.
Anyway, if I have a time to translate the cartoon about Minnesota, I hope that I'll try to do it.
Posted by: michel at November 15, 2005 11:50 PMIt amuses me that it is Torii that is giving the doc a hard time.
They've been reading our news, apparantly.
