Looks to me like a fast forward to JC Romero in 2006.

Jabba the Hut had a promising season as goalie for the Red Deer Rebels [WHA] before tragically blowing out one of his chins, but who knew Wookie had game? And a south-paw, to boot.

There will be no escape for the Red Sox THIS time.

Posted by: Pander at September 29, 2005 12:24 PM

I think we found our 5th starter for next year.

Posted by: NY-Brian at September 29, 2005 12:57 PM

The 2006 Schedule is up on the Twins site -
we play the NL Central for interlegue -except for the CARDS!! I'm not happy!! they're making us play the Dodgers instead - damn NL West and their lack of teams!

Home opner against the A's!

I'm waiting for Episode V: The Umpire Strikes Back.

btw, Pander-

excellent reference to that OTHER NY team being the Evil Empire.

Chewbacca for Wookiee of the Year!

Wow.

I mean, I didn't think I had seen it all, but...

Wow.

Posted by: Eric at September 29, 2005 01:34 PM

Hmm.. another 6'10 lefty...

Posted by: TD at September 29, 2005 01:36 PM

(I must add that the person dressed as Leia looks more like Nathan Lane, but I digress..)

Posted by: TD at September 29, 2005 01:37 PM

With the vast popularity of episodes 1-3 why wasn't Jar Jar there to throw out the first pitch?

Posted by: soccerfan at September 29, 2005 01:49 PM

*blinks* Wow.

Posted by: Candace at September 29, 2005 02:06 PM

Oh.

My.

Posted by: Salt-Man Z at September 29, 2005 02:11 PM

soccerfan- Jar Jar didn't let the wookiee win. You know how wookiees rip folks' arms off when they lose? Talk about a torn rotator cuff- the incident prompted a response from Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Sandy Alderaan.

You might have heard of one of Jar Jar's descendents, Cubs great Ernie Binks.

I've seen some of Ernie Binks highlights... the force was strong with that one. He could hit a ball 12 parsecs over the outer rim fielders' heads. Harry Caray-Fisher would yell "Holy Bantha! He really tattooined that one!" while Binks was kessel running the bases. During the 7th-inning stretch, Harry would sing "Take me out to the pod race" (I know, I know, but do you know how drunk you can get by the 7th-inning stretch? take it from me, the answer is *VERY* ;-)).

If I keep going, only Lewww and I would find it entertaining, and even that's doubtful.

last one, I swear... let's see Roger Clemens try that bat-throwing crap with Chewbacca ;-)

Posted by: let's go mets at September 29, 2005 02:41 PM

That. Is. Awesome.

Wonder Woman,

Boo! I have fond memories of Twins-Cardinals, as I actually went to two of the games in their first (regular season) series. I was looking forward to the Batgirl recaps and everything.

But I believe it's less the NL West's fault than Selig's, for moving the Brewers into the NL Central and making it a six team league. And also because it's ALWAYS Selig's fault.

Love,
Redbird

Redbird -
Really how very cool!

yes you are correct - it is his fault!! Stupid Truckin' Selig! Dammit-I was so excited when I first heard we were playing the Cubs - I thought for sure - Albert had to be on the schedule - what a draw he would have been!

Oh the recaps would have been fabulous - the Santana wiggle versus -the Puljos wink - man -plus they're both hot!!

We can only hope maybe 2007 =)

THAT IS HILARIOUS!! I want a Star wars character to throw out a pitch at a Twins game!! That would be sweet and Lew would be sooooo happy! And I am all for happy baseball players!

Posted by: twinsfreak_27 at September 29, 2005 04:12 PM

Of course the year AFTER I live in Texas we get a June Astros matchup. All I got was an August Rangers matchup. Holy poo it was hot.

Posted by: Neil at September 29, 2005 04:21 PM

LMAO! That *does* look like Johnny Damon!

Posted by: Stacy at September 29, 2005 05:58 PM

That is so sad... yet so funny.

Posted by: Renae at September 29, 2005 06:50 PM

I love that the wookie has a glove on, and the clapping Leia really tops it off for me. In addition to Mascot Softball next year, somebody in the Twins offices needs to put together full teams to play in Star Wars costumes: Classic Star Wars vs. the Crap Star Wars, and everybody can hit with Lew's light sabre-bat.

Posted by: frightwig at September 29, 2005 07:59 PM

With all that hair on his hand/paw? I bet he's a knuckleballer.

Posted by: neutrino boi at September 29, 2005 08:59 PM

given the whole evil empire thing they should have saved this for when the Yankees were in town

who knew Chewie was a lefty?

And you thought the big unit was tall

but is he in danger of suffering the dreaded Bent Wookie and spending all of next season on the DL?
