First of all, a huge B.O.D. shout out to Cuddles McDimply for a streak-busting, 3 RBI performance. Cuddles certainly is the player of the game and in some other family's competition, the boyfriend of the day. But Team Batgirl's boyfriends do take precedence and they can hardly be said not to have had a good game. Lew Ford played remarkably well for someone who bunted a ball off his face just the day before, Stewie and Joe both had key hits, but Dr. Morneau, well, he just has flames coming off his bat. But not, like, in a scary way. He was 3 for 4 today with 2 runs, playing a role in three of the five run-scoring innings, making him seven of his last nine and, of course, the Boyfriend of the Day
Jeb/Lewwww 5, Field/ Readers 4, Sooz/ Stewie 2, Goober/Dr. Morneau 2, Batgirl/Joe 1.
Ahhh very deserving BOD today. Morneau had it coming.
Although after the 4th inning or so, there were sure alot of good candidates! I love games like that.
Posted by: Tinger at April 30, 2005 12:05 AMCongrats Doctor and Goober!!
I posted this in the game thread, but here it is again. It's what I did in class today instead of listening to the lecture. For the enjoyment of the Batlings:

Posted by: Stacy at April 30, 2005 12:07 AMStacy, I love your picture!
and the good Doctor totally deserves BOD honors. what a difficult choice today, though. I love it!
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 12:18 AMI think I would have given it to LNP, but good choice anyhow!
Posted by: Mimiru at April 30, 2005 12:19 AMWOW, WD Twins.
AMAZINGLY, the Darlings of ESPN, the BitchSox are now only 1.5 games ahead. I bet HOCK Harrelson is chocking up a bit now
Stacy, I love that picture! Especially the LeCroy caption!
Good for Curly J.
Posted by: Sam at April 30, 2005 12:32 AMThe Good Doctor has been on fire lately. He totally deserves this B.O.D.
Posted by: ysolla at April 30, 2005 01:01 AMAhhh, what a lovely game (after the 4th, anyway), with many BOD candidates. I loved how the intentional walking of Jacque Jones resulted in his scoring. Did that happen twice? Have to admit there was A Big Distraction in section 127 tonight (see my website). Yikes.
Posted by: Suzi at April 30, 2005 01:25 AMSuzi, thats horrifying. I'm so glad i wasn't there to see it. However, i did see, yesterday, a guy tanning in the nude on top of his trailer over here, and he happened to have his feet toward me, with his legs spread eagle, and i nearly fell off my trailer laughing due to the fact that he's on top of a friggin trailer at 2 pm, middle of the day, with helicopters flying over. sorry, didn't mean to blow up...
Posted by: Tinger at April 30, 2005 03:39 AMy'know, the saddest thing about Doctor Morneau's performance lately is that nobody else in the entire country is seeing it. did you realize that his avg is .432 after last night? my eyes boggled when I saw .444 on the board before his last at-bat.
and nary a mention on Sports Center. surprising? *sigh* hardly. well, good. he's our little secret, then.
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 07:21 AMDare I say the Luis Rivas era is over? Long live LNP.
Posted by: Me at April 30, 2005 08:13 AMI'll take Punto over Rivas ... but I still want Tiffee 3rd, Cuddyer 2nd, Punto utility.
You're right that Morneau is rockin' right now. People said at the beginning of the year that the Twinks would be in good shape if we could get production out of the 3 and 4 spots. Mauer's healthy, Morneau is pounding the ball. Things are looking good.
With Santana on the mound Sunday, would it be presumptuous to say that we're playing for the sweep tonight? Get Brad some runs!!!!
Posted by: gopher38 at April 30, 2005 08:41 AMPoor Michael missed boyfriend of the day simply because no one picked him. Tough break, Kid.
Michael's comment after his doule was that he felt like 100 pounds had been lifted off of his shoulders. As his girlfriend, I very much feel the same way. I was nervous for HIM every time he came to bat. (The papers said that the fans booed him after his first two at-bats. For the record, I feel you shouldn't boo your own players unless they're diong something wrong out of laziness or on purpose. Otherwise you're just adding another pound of weight to their shoulders, and they certainly don't need that when going through a bad spell!)
Stacy--great picture!
Just Beth
Posted by: Just Beth at April 30, 2005 10:04 AMYou know, if Little Nicky keeps playing like this, we might have to invent an honorary almost-boyfriend award for him. Something like the "You're Such a Great Guy, But I Don't Like You Like That, Let's Just Be Friends" award?
Posted by: Roscoe at April 30, 2005 10:21 AMJust_Beth, I completely agree about booing your own players. I was very upset when Juan Rincon got booed during that awful game in the ALCS.
Just back from looking at the stats, Morneau is batting 432, Jones is at a whopping 482, and Mauer is at 392. If we could just stop all the GIDPs and leaving-the-bases-loaded-without-scorring-a-single-run, then we'd being doing awfully well.
Anybody else get some amusement out of the WCCO guys difficulty to master the name of the Twins' opponent? The Anaheim Angels... The Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles... The Los Angeles Angles of Who-Knows-Where?
Posted by: Belle at April 30, 2005 10:27 AMReusse got in the standard shot at the Angels' new name in the first line of his column today, when he referred to the "Minnesota Twins of Minneapolis." I bet every sportswriter in every city uses that line the first time the Angels come to town this year.
The monkey-worshipping fans in Los Angeles/Anaheim must be embarassed. Has a dumber ploy than this name change ever been tried?
Go Twins.
Posted by: Andre at April 30, 2005 10:54 AMJones is batting .359
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 11:16 AMoh, and Mauer is .288
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 11:17 AMI think Belle was looking at Jones' and Mauer's OBPs. As for Morneau, his BA is .394 and his OBP is .400. (He hasn't walked yet this year ... that's odd.)
Posted by: Andre at April 30, 2005 01:09 PMSome day soon, I am sure that my Boyfriend -- the delectable Mr. Jones -- will be deemed worthy of B.O.D. honors, perhaps from the perspective of cumulative contribution. I do not quibble (indeed, would neither presume nor dare), and the Doctor and his curls are certainly deserving.
Dazzle Man anointed DJ Cuddles #1 Star of the Game last night, so the love IS getting spread around a bit.
Boys on free TV tonight! I was deprived of my weekly dose last week because of the snow-out. Heh, could you say I'm Jones-ing?
Posted by: QJW at April 30, 2005 01:54 PMHave folks seen this article on LNP?

It sounds to me like LNP is this guy's boyfriend.
Posted by: AT at April 30, 2005 02:05 PMhe left out the part where I helped LNP tag out DeJesus at second base the other day.

Posted by: Mic at April 30, 2005 04:02 PMLNP will be so pleased to know that he has a little helper!
Posted by: Pepper at April 30, 2005 04:18 PMI think Stacy should be b.f.o.t.d, because she looks better to me than any of the others. Al
