Once again, I'd like to wish good luck to our Mellizos de Minnesota as they take on los Angeles del Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles del Rio de Porciúncula (of Anaheim).
Posted by: Adam at April 29, 2005 06:37 PMYou mean the LAdPdNSlRdlAdRdP(oA)?
Posted by: Jeb at April 29, 2005 06:46 PMHow about some Moral High Ground from the git-go tonight? My Twins fanhood is all about no balls hitting the ground in the outfield and no extra at-bats or bases (including walks) for the opposition. Throw in a few two-out RBIs by the good guys and I'm in heaven. And hey, I'm starting to like the looks of Young Dr. Feelgood.
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 07:01 PMBalfour update: some type of Tommy John surgery. Most likely out for the year. Thats according to Gardy
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:01 PMwhat about Lyle?
Time for the Jackal to spank the Monkey
...Rally, that is
Rats, since I live in SoCal, I get the Angels announcers, who are 2/3 as annoying as the Bichsox crew
Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 07:04 PMShoulder strain for Lohse. Day to Day
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:08 PMAre they still doing that tired Rally Monkey thing out there in Los Angeles/Anaheim? That's SOOOOO three years ago.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 07:09 PMThanks
Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 07:09 PMI think the Twins need some kind of rally rodent to counteract the Angels thing. Perhaps the Rally Marmot? I'd get behind that.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 07:11 PM*gasp* Andre,
you suggest a rally animal and it's not a BAT?!?!?! (or even a kitty!??)
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 07:12 PMThe GetItDone Gopher
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 07:13 PMI thought LNP was our Rally Kitty
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:13 PMWell, crap. But yay defense!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 07:16 PMS
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:16 PMThe Jackal needs to get the ball down a bit more.
There. That last pitch was a good one.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:16 PMOk. The first inning run is out of the way. All Twins from here on out.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 07:17 PMDazzle Man's back and obviously well-rested. He's already hyperventilated a little.
At least we're at home again so we get Herb.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 07:20 PMix-nay on the ass-bat-ays!!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:26 PMoyyyy. jackel
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:29 PMThe sinker isn't sinking so far. I just saw that he hasn't started for a week. Is this a case of him overthrowing as a result?
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:30 PMThe Good Doc is still hot. nice single
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:34 PMDoctor Feelgood!
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 07:34 PMBoot! Boot! Boot!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:35 PMCome on, JJ. Ducks on the pond, buddy.

Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:39 PMLeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:39 PMSome how I don't think we're going to reach 600 posts tonight... everyone's at the game.
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:40 PMOk, good thing about working the night shift then switching to days is that you wake up early enough to watch the twins for the first few nights. What did i miss so far?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:40 PMLew is just simply The Man. I've resisted choosing a "boyfriend" or "NSMC" so far, but I might have to cave on that.
And Cuddyer lives up to expectations.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 07:41 PMAt least Cuddy hit the ball hard that time. (I'm looking for reasons to be optimistic...)
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:41 PMSilva's looking a bit rusty (but he'll shake it off) and Lew got a RBI. Cuddy GIDP to end the 2nd.
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:42 PMLew Ford: Lord of the RBIngs
Posted by: infield at April 29, 2005 07:42 PMGeez Cuddyer, don't want to stay at the Mendoza line?
Posted by: Shaun at April 29, 2005 07:42 PMTorii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:43 PMAttaboy TORII!!!!!!! nice grab
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:43 PMWhew; great play Torii!!!
I think they need to get Carlos throwing in the bullpen between innings or something so he gets a little tired.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:44 PMimagine that, cuddaver GIDP... sheesh, never woulda expected THAT from him...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:45 PMOh what the crap!!! Dick and Bert are calling the game and the bleepin blargin sound on my computer isn't working!
anger...
come on boys... DP time
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:45 PMWow, the Jackal is not looking good here...
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:46 PMOh ass-crap. what was THAT all about?!
Come on settle down, Jackal...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:46 PMCarlos is stressing me out!
Posted by: Donnalove at April 29, 2005 07:47 PMWow. How do you say "The Jackal is sucking ass tonight" in Spanish?
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 07:47 PMWhat did Torii do?
Posted by: Eric at April 29, 2005 07:47 PMI have no reason to like Vlad, no matter how good he might be, due to the fact that i'm playing against him in fantasy ball this week.... son of a monkeys balls... they're hittin the skin off the ball..
i hope our boys are paying attention as to how to do that.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:47 PMTorii had a great catch to start the inning
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 07:48 PMTorii ran one down in center field and made a nice catch. earlier.
WHAT THE HELL STEWIE!!! MORAL HIGH GROUND!!!
you cant just drop a ball like that after trying so hard to get there to make the play.. Lucky JB picked you up on the next play.
(J.B. is my boyfriend)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:49 PMperhaps the bats would be a good thing to bring to the plate this time around. I'm pretty near sick of Lew being our only source of offense lately... I love lew... but damn. Baseball's a team game! this isn't golf! MORE HITS ARE BETTER FELLAS!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:51 PMWell holy crap. we hit the ball hard at the pitchers nuts and he STILL makes the play! Aint that some shit...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:52 PMOkay, boys, we absolutely cannot have ass-arm and ass-bats in the same game. Let's get *something* going here!
Posted by: infield at April 29, 2005 07:52 PMDamn, Stewie just got robbed.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 07:52 PMWHAT IN THE HOLY HELL!??!!? WHERE DID HTEY GET DEFENSE!?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:52 PMOK, listening on the radio only so don't see the plays, but was tonight declared Line Drive Night and I missed it?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 07:52 PMCome on, Bartlett, be a good boyfriend...
Posted by: infield at April 29, 2005 07:53 PMQJW, tonight was actually declared "twins get robbed" night".. or at least this inning..
Damn JB. Boyfriends gotta do better than that.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:54 PMVlad Guerrero is the best baseball player I have seen live at a game. Second in Ichiro.
Anyway.. we still have time to get some runs.
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 07:54 PMWELL CRIPES!
The baseball gods aren't smiling down upon the Jackal this evening. Things aren't looking good as of right now, and... no, sir. I don't like it.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:56 PMJackal, please make with the GIDP thing.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 07:56 PMWell, somehow, this one is still getting blamed on Corky. I dont know how. It just is...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:58 PMThis is B.S. i need a computer with sound... when i come back, the twins had better be batting.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 07:59 PMHere I was trying to find a way to blame it on Kyle. Habit, I guess.
Oooh, Bartlett! You just made your harem happy.
Gordo just mentioned that Mulholland is warming up in the bullpen. Hmmm.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:00 PMJASON BARTLETT IS MY BOYFRIEND!! THAT WAS SEXY!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:01 PMC'mon, Little Joe...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:03 PMMauer is awesome.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:04 PMLittle late... sometimes the "ET" confuses me, in that I'm on "CT"
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:04 PMLittle Joe, followed by Hoss.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:05 PMJustin's been awesome since he got back, but i'd like to see more of his power stroke everyone's talking about... like the shot he hit in Detroit. That would sure be nice right now...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:06 PMDoctor, doctor, give me the news!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:06 PMNice work Dr! Now, if we can just keep Torii from GIDP...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:07 PMThere will be NO GIDP! Do you hear me, young man?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:07 PMWhat amazes me most about Doc is that outside Minnesota, virtually nobody has heard of him.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:07 PMDammit, shoulda hit that 3rd baseman with the bat...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:08 PMMan... it really is Line-Out Night at the Dome.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:08 PMAll right, Boyfriend. I will accept your RBI sac fly.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:09 PMSac flies are good...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:09 PMOk, good time for some Lew heroics here. lets tie this up so the Jackal can start over again
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:10 PMBe grateful. Adam Kennedy is on the DL.
Posted by: Rob McMillin at April 29, 2005 08:10 PMNow Lew, it would be a good idea to bring in the Doc before Cuddy comes to the plate. We all know why...
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:10 PMAnd Lew chases Kirby Puckett's favorite strikeout pitch.
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:10 PMEw, that was ugly.
I feel like Byrd's really laying the pitches right in there on the first pitch. I normally hate it when we consistently swing at the first pitch, but perhaps tonight it wouldn't be a bad idea.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:10 PMSo, Jackal or OMM?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:11 PMLew, that wasn't heroics. Unless you're an angels fan. And i'm Not.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:11 PMThis double game is getting real old
QJW, I'm not sure what OMM means, but I think it's that. There is simply no sinker to be had tonight.
And... Cuddy does a bad job charging the ball. Sigh.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:14 PMshit that was a nice bunt. why cant we be the team that is kicking ass tonight?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:14 PMDamn, and Vlad is up.. this can't be good.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:14 PMOMM = Old Man Mulholland.
Apologies for making you ask what I meant!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:15 PMAh, fair enough! I'll take the OMM. :-)
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:16 PMwith all the balls Vlad is popping up behind the plate and out of play, i'm glad the sinker isnt working jsut a little bit better than it is...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:16 PMsomeone want to wake me up when he quits popping fouls out of play?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:18 PMChone... what a stupid spelling. The Figginses should be ashamed.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:18 PMWhew...
Thank you J.B.! (he's my boyfriend, in case anyone was wondering)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:19 PMThat's interesting. I thought they might walk Vlad, and that turned out to be a fortuitous move. Let's hope this pays off.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:19 PMTime to turn two!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:19 PMAnother frickin' line drive?!?
At least Bartlett's certainly earning his keep tonight.
Oh please, oh please, do not let this bases-loaded thingy not blow up in our faces.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:19 PMWOOHOO!!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:20 PMYesssss!!! They're taking lessons from us!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:20 PMFigginseseses name is Chone?
did his parents realize when they named him that he'd be getting his ass kicked every day in high school?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:21 PMThere are so many ways I could edit the last sentence of my last post to make it correct. Alas, technology does not permit.
All right, Mr. Cuddyer. At least get on base. We don't care how.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:22 PMIt's pronounced "Shawn" or "Sean" if youre Irish. But no. They had to go crazy and make in look like a Mexican side dish.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:22 PMThat was pretty. Way to start that DP, boyfriend o' mine!
Anytime you can hold the angels runless in that situation, you gotta be pretty happy with yourself.. i'm feeling a turning of the tides here.... after cuddyer gets his out out of the way, anyhow...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:23 PMMichael Cuddyer ladies and gentlemen...
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMOk, now that we got that outta the way, lets get it goin, LNP!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMOh, Lord. LNP just did a head-first slide and scared me to death. But it's a hit!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMGreat hustle, Punto!!!
Posted by: infield at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMLNP!!! Bunt single!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMLNP is bunting his way on the 1st squad, regular 9
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 08:24 PMLNP! Making things happen!
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 08:25 PMI heart LNP.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:25 PMLook at little nicky all tryin to be Torii hunter. He sure loves that headfirst dive! and i love him. so we're all good now!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:26 PMWhere's Tumbleweed?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:26 PMIt's unbelievable that we're only down by one run, the way this has gone. Now, how about some more of that "offense" I've been hearing about?
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 08:27 PMShannon should really get a hit here, or at least a walk. just not an out.
Ok, sacrifice will work.
COME ON J.B.!!
(Jason Bartlett is my boyfriend)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:27 PMDick just said that LNP is "the essence of little ball"
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:28 PMGood job by LNP. Everyone else needs to lay off those breaking balls that are way out of the zone.
I hope the Jackal's done for the night. I'm a big fan, but this has not been pretty.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:28 PM"Dick just said that LNP is 'the essence of little ball.'" He did, though I think that in this case it's properly called "Little ball."
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:29 PMTORII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YET AGAIN!!!
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:31 PMDear J.B., my wonderful boyfriend,
Lately, you've been slacking. When our relationship started, you were so exciting, always keeping me on my toes. There was a flame there that burned so brightly. Lately, the flame has been burning low, and, although your defense has been wonderful, i think its time we rekindle that flame with your offense. Don't make me do something irrational. Please make me prould. There's nothing i want more than to keep you as my boyfriend, but don't take it for granted.
Best of Luck, Boyfriend. Our relationship is on your shoulders now.
Sincerely,
Tinger
Torii, now that boy can play some center field.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:32 PMWas he safe or out?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:33 PMHe was OUT!!!
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 08:33 PMWow, that was a FABULOUS PLAY by LNP! Too bad the ump blew the call. :-(
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:33 PMBULLSHIT!!! LNP HAD HIM!!!!! WOW!!! THAT WAS PRETTY!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:33 PMRobbed yet again...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:33 PMSHENANIGANS!!! SHENANIGANS HAS BEEN DECLARED UPON THE FIRST BASE UMPIRE!!!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:34 PMWhy do we keep RIvas on this team? Nice play LNP!
Posted by: Shaun at April 29, 2005 08:35 PMChonenanigans?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:35 PMIf that comes back to bite us in the ass, i dont' know what i'm gonna do, but its not going to be pretty.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:35 PMSS
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:35 PMWoot! I've got a good feeling about this one, folks.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:36 PMLNP told the rest of the team, "Time to jump on my diminuitive back!"
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:37 PMThe Jackal is finding his game. The offense will prevail this half of the inning. I'm feeling a big rally. LNP is getting us going.
(See, J.B. thats the all-around flame he's got going. Look into it!)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:37 PMLook at The chairman trying to keep the boys honest out there... now drive one Chairman!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:39 PMnice poke... the good Dr. will pick you up.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:39 PMAbsolutely Loverly! Just what the Dr. ordered. (sorry, couldn't resist) Awesome. Come on Torii!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:40 PMTake that, Line Drive Gods! Good job, Hoss.
Torii, there's no shame in clawing to a lead, one ugly run at a time. Just sayin'.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:41 PMThey're walking JJ to get to... LEW!!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:42 PMD*mn you, LAAAAAAA! Let my Boyfriend hit!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:42 PMStupid Vlad.... WHOA that was a good baserunning decision by Morneau.
note to self... Vlad has a cannon. So noted.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:42 PMHow about some Lewroics here. Not so much a strike-out, or any out, for that matter, as a hit.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:44 PMMe discussing the Twins with a White Sox fan.
"To be fair, we were without our best hitter," said of the Twins, White Sox series.
"Who is that, Torii Hunter?" He replied.
Two things about that, A)bitch Sox fans bitch because they dont know how good the Twins are. They bitch out of ignorance. and B)Isnt it nice that the person they think is the best hitter on the team is probably something like the 5th or 6th? It's little talks like that that warm my soul.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:44 PMLEEEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 08:47 PMWHOA! WHO SAW THAT COMING!!!! AWESOME!!! THANK YOU MIKE CUDDYER! you just earned yourself 2 points in my book with that little poke!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:47 PMWe're living in baseball heaven, folks. Small ball & Killer D.
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 08:48 PMCuddy! Driving in runs! That makes me so happy...
on the last post I made a typo. Change all "Whites" to "Bitches"
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:48 PMDid everyone see the smiles on his face on second base? thats the look of a happy man who's caught some hell from the teammates.
Come on LNP!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:48 PMGood inning, guys! Now let's see some D
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:50 PMMichael Cuddyer. I can't think of a player in the league I want to succeed more. He's just so damn charming.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:50 PMOk we got the lead. Come on Jackal, you know what to do with it!
I am not a cuddy haterm I think him at second might not be a bad idea. But yes its good to see him smile, maybe if he loosens up, good things happen.
Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 08:52 PMAs much as i agree with you, ryan, i think theres maybe one person i'd rather see succeed more. Terry Tiffee. Its too bad they won't move Cuddyer over to second... but the what would LNP do?! man.. it sucks having so much talent on a team....
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:53 PMMe to hubby: "Romero's warming up."
Hubby: "Damn, and we had a lead, too."
now if we can just keep them from starting off the inning with extra base hits..
Oh good, i'm glad to see J.C. in the bullpen instead of OMM
Nice shot J.B.! (thats my boyfriend)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:54 PMInfield, ask him who he'd rather see, J.C. or OMM? i'll take my chances with J.C.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:55 PMSSSS
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 08:55 PMCome on Jackal, get him now.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:55 PMDid anybody happen to catch the run-scoring double by Michael Cuddyer? For the lead? Our first lead of the game? Just saying.
Nice strikeout, Jackal!
Posted by: Haplo at April 29, 2005 08:55 PMA quick aside as figgns bats: I our house we joke about awful names (Shiquanda) but the discussion always end whe we jok that the name was spelled Qxtry, but pronounced Shawn
Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 08:56 PMSIT DOWN, MONKEYBOY!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:56 PMMaybe Cuddy will gain more confidence if he starts hanging out with the cool kids on the team, like Torii and Jacque and Joe. They could pull a few pranks and hijinks. Hide LeRoy's donuts, give Lew a wedgie, stuff like that. It would help him loosen up, give him some confidence and then he'll be set.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 08:56 PMAh, this is the Jackal I know and love!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 08:57 PMNice work Mr. Jackal. I'm glad you've finally figured out the Monkey and are now putting it to him.
Nothing wrong with getting knocked around the first few rounds as long as you can come back and lay down the can of Whoop-ass in the end.
Die. Monkey. Die.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 08:57 PMBaseball heaven, I tell you.
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 08:58 PMWooo! A line drive hit! You just don't see them these days.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 08:59 PMTinger,
The hubby would much rather see OMM. I, myself, couldn't possibly choose. OMM is likely to give up a run or two, but JC will either shut 'em down or melt down completely and give up a handful.
I finally showed up, and I feel good about this. The Jackal in form (at least these last few innings, anyway), Cuddy with a hit, the DR and Jacque striking fear into pitchers, and monkey-suffering.
Keep up the good work, boys.
I'm with you edge... nothing better - Friday night, baseball, homemade massive burger on my plate, a little adult beverage in my hand and watching my boys play GREAT baseball in my pajamas...
If not Heaven, this is at least a damn fine mini vacation...
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:00 PM20 hits already. Impressive pitching.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:00 PMIts kinda like the Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer story. Gardy (Santa) finally asked Rudolf (Cuddyer) to lead his team, and now all the other reindeer are gonna let him play their little reindeer games. This is great.
COME ON J.B.!!!! see the boyfriend, BE THE BOYFRIEND!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:00 PMThat was simply unnecessary.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:01 PMBabs, you talk of burgers and adult beverages... making my mouth water.
Dammit J.B. Not sexy. Not sexy at all.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:02 PMAT good to see you. Hope the homework hasnt kicked your ass to bad.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:03 PMSince I know you are deprived while over there, just put it down for our local get together when you get here - I owe you a beer. The GF would let me buy you a beer right?!?!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:04 PMI think Cuddy is sort of Rudolph-looking, with dimples replacing the red nose. Maybe?
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:04 PMI'm thrilled when we get to, say, the Royals' bullpen. With these guys, less so.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:04 PMOh good, bring in the rooke. Lets welcome him to the dome, Joe.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:04 PMBabs- She damn well better!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:05 PMJoe Nathan looked really bored
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:05 PMok.. Does Dick have to sound so freaking excited about THEIR good fielding?? Yes, I know he is a fan of the game first but still..
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:07 PMwell who the hell does this Cabrera think he is out there?
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:07 PMI agree. At least PRETEND to be pissed off a little bit when the twins get robbed. You know Bert would do it.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:08 PMHoly crap that dude does look like Bert. Scary.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:09 PMSo we've got Boo out there now? I really want him to sit some monkeys down and get back to utterly dominating folks.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:09 PMWhew... an almost-homerun/single.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:10 PMNot Boo, J.Ro
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:10 PMBert was my Boyfriend during his FIRST stint with the team.
Yes, I am old.
Speaking of old, it's JC instead of OMM. Please tell me I don't need to be nervous.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:11 PMDear J.C.
That is enough hits for this game. Glad you got that taken care of right away. Now shut'em down.
-Tinger
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:11 PMSorry. Crappy CBS pulled a fast one on me there. Didn't mean to blow up.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:11 PMhmm... Tinger, I think I have to have a second burger - in your honor of course. But with Romero on the mound, I need something to keep my fingers and mouth busy so as not to frighten my poor kitties.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:12 PMQJW,
no such thing as "old" around here. Just fans. thats all.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:12 PMNice JC. Good JC. Make him GIDP. That's a love.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:13 PMBabs, you're forgiven, Just don't bite into a finger while you're being nervous. I've heard that its a bad deal.
COME ON DP!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMJC's success depends on if he trusts the Chairman, and just throw what Mr Mauer tells him to
Posted by: Scotty Dawg at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMQJW - my first Twins boyfriend was Earl Battey. Although I was 5 years old at the time...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMWow, the Chairman is way taller than J.Ro. I'd never noticed that before.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMQJW - my first Twins boyfriend was Earl Battey. Although I was 5 years old at the time...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMJ.C. is looking good out there so far. (knock on wood)
get him here!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMQJW - Earl Battey was my first Twins Boyfriend. Although I was 5 years old at the time...
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMHas anyone ever noticed the mini-wedgie J.Ro always has? It's not attractive.
Posted by: Jen at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMJ.C. is looking good out there so far. (knock on wood)
get him here!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMBabs, you're forgiven, Just don't bite into a finger while you're being nervous. I've heard that its a bad deal.
COME ON DP!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:18 PMI've always been a Steve Lombardozzi fan.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:19 PMOff topic:
I have to say, now that we're not playing KC, I really want them to win. I feel bad for them losing the close ones to us (not too bad, of course), and I want them to beat up on the other Central teams.
On topic: Whoa, I almost just said something to jinx JC. *muzzles self*
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:19 PMyeah... Mauer, Morneau and Nathan are all 6'4"... hmmm... tall is good.
It does seem interesting that Romero and Mauer haven't quite clicked - the might explain a few things about JC's performance so far. Romero pitched a lot to Blanco last year if I recall.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:20 PMGlitch over. Lombardozi was awesome. But he was no LNP!
KEEP ROLLIN J.C.!!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:20 PMWay to go JC!! Nice job out there, though it took forever. :-)
As much as I love the VP, I'd love to score a few runs here so we don't even need him tonight.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:20 PMWell, that worked out well. Now maybe some insurace runs.
AT- i feel the same way. I always liked cheering for the underdog. Thats the same reason i cheer for the vikings come playoff time.
By the way, AT, you missed out on some GREAT LNP ball earlier.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:22 PMheraldguy, you have exquisite taste. Mr. Battey was probably my first NSMC. One Jim Kaat was my first (baseball) Boyfriend.
Lombo? That's rather touching, Ryan. You have a huge heart.
All, right, Boys. How 'bout a coupla them IN-shurrance runs?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:22 PMMy god, Esteban Yan is still around?
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:23 PMHow does Estaban Yan still have a major-league job? He's slightly better than Albie Lopez.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 09:23 PMI'll post this again sometime this weekend since it will probably get buried in this thread, but here's my Twins field drawing from when I should have been paying attention in art class today:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/stacyidol03/TwinsfieldIwasboredinart.jpg
Posted by: Stacy at April 29, 2005 09:24 PMI'd like to see the VP myself, i'm losing in the Saves category in fantasy ball, the only category i'm losing in this week out of 16, and, well, my other closer just tore his hamstring. But i want to see him come in with a 3 run lead. So he can get the save.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:24 PMI was always proud of myself for pronouncing his name correctly. I didn't know anything about the guy or his talent. (I was still a wee sprout)
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:24 PMTorii Hunter just makes me happy all over.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:26 PMTinger, I read some about it, but yeah I missed it. Oh, and YOU missed tonight's play by play from your mother. Highlights include Stinger, a 27-yr old model, some Rusty Nails, and your guy Coleman. Get that story.
I guess the good Dr can't get a hit EVERY at bat; it wouldn't be fair. oh well.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:26 PMAttaboy Torii. YES! NICE RUNNING! welcome to the game, Esteban!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:26 PMStacy: your picture rocks.
"I was always proud of myself for pronouncing his name correctly."
As well you should have been!
No!!! Not another intentional walk for my Boyfriend! let him hit, d*mn you!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:27 PMStacy, that is absolutely awesome. I'm printing it and putting it on my wall. If i may.
COME ON LEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:27 PMThis is early, but this game is what I've been talking about: decent pitching, good defense, the Dr., and timely hitting {even by Cuddyer}against a good team. I admit a little glee here.Al
Posted by: al at April 29, 2005 09:27 PMGlad to see Esteban Yan hasn't changed.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:28 PMGeez, won't anybody pitch to JJ anymore? Has he really become that great a hitter? It's like he's Barry Bonds, without the HRs or the performance enhancers or the attitude.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:28 PMleewwwww
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 09:28 PMLOL, thanks:)
And Tinger, go right ahead. I would be honored having my work of boredom on a wall somewhere, lol.
Posted by: Stacy at April 29, 2005 09:28 PMGreat opportunity for Cuddyer not to suck.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:28 PMUh oh... i wonder if Cuddyer will be able to do this thing twice in the same game... kinda makes a guy nervous...
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMStacy,
that's hilarious!!
Ok... Cuddy hon... the bases are loaded sweety. You seem to be doing alright.. remember how it felt to smile? I want a great hit and yahoo out of you this time.. you can do it!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMCue theme music to JAWS and lets get a hit!!!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMI loved that Cuddyer hit that double earlier, but, in all honesty, I don't really want him batting with 3 on and 1 out right now.
Posted by: Haplo at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMYES! CUDDDDYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMCUDDY!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMDouble doubles for DJ Cuddles?
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:29 PMMichael's not a bad guy. He's just misunderstood.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMAgain with the Cuddy!!!!!
This is way cool!!!
Do I hear a little Peter Gabriel?
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMA guy almost wants to see Mr. Donut pinch hit here... just because its been taht kind of season...
COME ON CUDDYER!! ITS ESTEBAN! TAKE!!! TAKE!!!
ok, good take. now HIT!!! HIT!!!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMDJ Cuddles: Set up for his first BOD?
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMYES!! Ok... you are starting to feel some of that baseball joy again Cuddy!!
Don't you just LOVE IT?!?!?!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMDouble doubles for DJ Cuddles!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:30 PMThis is like, the best night of my life. I'm done with college classes forever and Cuddyer has TWO doubles. I'm so giddy.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:31 PMDouble doubles for DJ Cuddles!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:31 PMWish I could go back in time 3 hours and take bets on Cuddy being a BOTD
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:31 PMWOOT!!!!!!
holy crap two doubles for CUDDY!!! oh my god, i'm all aquiver over here. giddy like a little school girl. this is awesome.
COME ON LNP!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:31 PMDouble doubles for DJ Cuddles!
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:32 PMHaplo, i totally feel what you were feeling. That was nerve-racking. i'm glad it turned out like it did, though.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:32 PMI don't think anyone in the army working the night shift is allowed to feel like a giddy school girl Tinger. But we share the quiver over here.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:32 PMAnd a double post about the double doubles.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:33 PMWell, Tinger, you got your wish. :-)
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:34 PMBabs, I'd normally bet you're right on the Army thing, but you should see what some of those guys wear to play poker!
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:34 PMBabs, there's girls in the army. I'm sure they're allowed to feel like little school girls. I was just overcome with excitement. didn't mean to blow up.
oh, wait, i'm not working overnights anymore. So i'm good to go! little school girl it is!!!
Good inning boys. Woot!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:35 PMQuestion: How many 3-hit games in a row will/can the Dr have before he wins a BOD?
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:35 PMyou know AT, I'm just loving having two brothers both on the thread - just the right touch. I only wish that even ONE of my 10 brothers watched baseball. *SIGH*
I still have hope for some of the youngest...
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:36 PMSome day, now that i'll be in supply again, and on the computer with all of my pictures, i'll update our website and show y'all some of those pictures. Until then, i'll just keep loving Joe nathan and getting this save.
(J.B. is still my boyfriend)
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:37 PMBabs, if you need me to give them a talking-to, I'm available and highly persuasive. Geez, 0-for-10? That's like Corky (Corky)- level there. Yikes.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:38 PMLNP looks like he's been working in a slaughterhouse.
Posted by: heraldguy at April 29, 2005 09:39 PMCome on Nathanest!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:39 PMVP! VP!
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:39 PMuno mas
Posted by: Jen at April 29, 2005 09:40 PMBabs, tell them to watch or i'll have to come over there... and they dont' want that. I may be small, but i'm WIREY!!!
LNP deserves this BOD just because of that one trip around the bases... Morneau is hot lately, but AT, if you saw LNP, your heart would have just melted!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:40 PMToo true too true, AT. Frightening close to CC Miller stats there - but my folks did start with me so..
They are all a bit too hyperactive for baseball I think - they each pick a different sport and I'm the only baseball nut.
man, I love watching Nathan throw that ball.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:40 PMAh.... Joe Nathan.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:40 PMShock! - watch the monkey get hurt, monkey
Shock the monkey
Shock the monkey
OH man, i hope they get this one quick, i have 19 minutes to shower, change, eat breakfast, and be in supply! COME ON JOE!!!!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:41 PMAnd the Twins beat a non-Royals team! I could get used to this.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 09:41 PMI have two two word phrases i like to hear in the 9th inning of a Twins game. A)"Joe Nathan" and B)"Twins win!"
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:41 PMEverything's going Tinger's way tonight!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 09:42 PMThis is the kind of game i love seeing from the twins.
and thats the ballgame. i'm out peeps! Gotta jet. laters!
J.B. is my boyfriend.
i'm out.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 09:42 PMahhh... my boyfriend.. *SMILE*
I know we have a game tomorrow (which Torii gets his gold glove at I think) but my heart is skipping ahead to Sunday where I get to be at the dome to see Santana!!!!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:42 PMNick, the funny thing is, everything goes Tinger's way lots of nights. He's lucky like that.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:43 PMRock & Roll Bullpen. It's baseball heaven, folks.
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 09:43 PMThe FSN guys thought Cuddy deserved player of the game honors. Will BG follow suit and help boost poor DJ's fractured psyche? I predict that she will ... she has a soft spot for the downtrodden man who redeems himself with much glory.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 09:44 PMLNP on the radio again! 2 times in 3 days
Posted by: James at April 29, 2005 09:44 PMLNP is being interviewed by The Dazzle Man right now on 8-3-0.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 09:44 PMOoo, and it's Detroit 2, Bitches 1 after 7. Baseball heaven, I tell you.
Posted by: edge at April 29, 2005 09:45 PMCan I agree with edge's baseball heaven sentiment AND Al's earlier modicum of glee, or are they mutually exclusive? I want to endorse both.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 09:45 PMSure AT... it's baseball heaven - in April!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:47 PMahhh... Cuddyer interviewed on the post-game. That man is the happiest man on earth right now.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:48 PMBbs, you and I should send Cuddy a card and some cookies or something.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:49 PMCuddy got the last 3 RBI's -- that's totally boyfriend stuf.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 09:49 PMAwwww...DJ Cuddles is so cute when he's so happy!
Posted by: Stacy at April 29, 2005 09:50 PMOf course, if he is reading the thread at all Ryan, he knows we were sending him our best wishes each time he was at the plate!!
but coookies.. hmmm I bet he would like cooooookies.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:52 PMHe seems like the ginger snap type, doesn't he? We'll figure this out somehow.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 09:55 PMno... I hate to say this but he kind of seems like a peanut butter cookie guy. I'm not huge on them myself but they kind of have that cuddly little boy kind of feel to them.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:57 PMAttendance please, if anyone knows.Al
Posted by: al at April 29, 2005 09:57 PMMan, I wish the Cubs had a clone of Joe Nathan. Or just Joe Borowski back. They went into the bottom of the 9th with a 3-2 lead... brought in LaTroy Hawkins... and still had it at the end of the inning. And I was absolutely astonished. Seriously. I'm flabbergasted.
Also a note: According to the Cubs' announcers, since 1995, closers have gotten the save in the ninth LESS than 50% of the time in one-run games. I'm not sure I believe this stat, although it does include the 1998-2001 seasons, and it does include the Devil Rays et. al.
Posted by: PsyMar at April 29, 2005 09:57 PMDo they ever give the attendance number? Does anyone know what it was?Al
Posted by: al at April 29, 2005 09:58 PMAl, I believe they said 31,000+
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:58 PMDo they ever give the attendance number? Does anyone know what it was?Al
Posted by: al at April 29, 2005 09:59 PMOh, and in response to the early conversation:
I'd suggest a Rally Ferret. Like a kitty, but more likely to actually care.
Al, I correct myself - according to the Twins site it was 29,866.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 09:59 PMI think, Babs, we can agree that it isnt choclate chip or oatmeal raisin. Anything with chunks just seems like it would throw him off. We can't afford that.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 10:00 PMI'm totally with you there Ryan... a simple cookie, smooth and uncomplicated - with maybe a little bit of cuteness.
ooooooo... stroke of genius. ANIMAL CRACKERS!!!
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 10:01 PMPsyMar:
We are on the same page, for I use the terms "marmot" and "ferret" interchangably.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 10:02 PMThanks, C.Babs.Al
Posted by: al at April 29, 2005 10:03 PMOf COURSE!. Perhaps we could ensure that the animals are all Tigers and Rally Monkeys.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 10:03 PMI don't know where this ferret talk came from, but one of those things bit a friend of mine a couple of months ago, and I haven't trusted them since. I can't think of ferrets as anything buy vindictive ankle-biters, though I have no idea how such things would affect any rally.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 10:05 PMPsyMar, Dearest Hawk (a former Boyfriend) does his very best work as a setup guy. I understand.
Twins win, Cubs win, Yankees lose, O's (for CarrieIC) win, ECBS lose, Bitches are losing at the moment. Nice.
Posted by: QJW at April 29, 2005 10:06 PMhehehe... umm.. I think an unopened package of cookies is more likely to keep us out of the stalker column but that is just my opinion.. *laugh*
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 10:06 PMWhoa, so marmots and ferrets are the same? Really? 'Cuz I'm scared of marmots too. sheesh. The only rodents I want to deal with are Gophers, preferably the ones wearing breezers and mouthguards.
Posted by: AT at April 29, 2005 10:08 PMUrbina just got out of the eighth for Detroit, stranding A.J. on first.
Detroit 2, Bitch Sox 1 after eight full.
Posted by: Rieux at April 29, 2005 10:11 PMI don't think they're exactly the same, but they're in the same family of pole-cats, I think. Cute, wiggly little rodents. And yes, they bite ... but so do our Twins, if you cross them. THEY BITE!
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 10:11 PMWe'll just say we're with Batgirl. It shouldn't be a problem.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 10:12 PMFerrets aren't rodents, they're mustelidae, aka weasels.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:14 PMWe'll just say we're with Batgirl. It shouldn't be a problem.
Posted by: Ryan at April 29, 2005 10:16 PMI use the word "rodent" loosely.
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 10:16 PMMarmots ARE rodents.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:16 PMAnyway, I think we should celebrate Minnesota life by having a Rally Walleye.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:22 PMI just got home--I'm very pleased about the game! But what's wrong with you guys? Only 328 comments? C'mon, didn't anybody have anything to say? Pretty sad when you can't even crack 400.
Posted by: Pepper at April 29, 2005 10:33 PMKurtis, should I ask why you know so much about small mammals?
Posted by: Andre at April 29, 2005 10:34 PMRally Walleye, i like that.
P.S. i was only 27 minutes late for work! WHOOOHOOOO! GO TWINS! hehe
luckily i'm the only one here today. if i'd have known that, i'd have taken my sweet ass time!
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 10:35 PMI like little furry things, Andre, and have several living in my home.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:36 PMPepper, we were trying to take it easy on BG's poor server.. Kind of.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 29, 2005 10:36 PMPepper, its tough to get the posts going when half our normal crowd is at the game cheering.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 10:36 PMClearly, Pepper, everyone was at the game. And we were taking in probably the best Twins win all year. :P
Ugh. Percival blows the save, and they go to the tenth at The Bitch.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 10:37 PMWhat happened to Troy Percivel? The guy's about as reliable as Esteban Yan.
Closers who close the damned thing seem to be in short supply. I am going to say a prayer in gratitude for Joe Nathan.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:37 PMPercival blew the save for Detroit (infield hit, walk, hit batter, sac fly), but then he got two guys out with the winning run on third. So it's extra innings in Chicago, 2-2.
Posted by: Rieux at April 29, 2005 10:39 PMI just want to say, however, i'm a huge fan of monkeys, they're my favorite animal ever, but just not RALLY monkeys. They're little bitches. But just regular monkeys that eat bananas, swing in the trees, scream alot, and throw poop, now THOSE are cool animals.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 10:43 PMHi all. I love the fact that this is now a Bitch Sox vs. D-town thread.
Posted by: sacky at April 29, 2005 10:43 PMIn other news, CBS Sportsline reports that Troy Percival is currently the recipient of a coaching visit to the mound. Despite the fact that the Tigers are up.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 10:44 PMAt a glance, I thought my own window how had the WhiteSox manager on first base for the Tigers. But on closer inspection it's a different Guillen.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 29, 2005 10:46 PMThat's some coaching visit!
Posted by: sacky at April 29, 2005 10:46 PMThe Bitch Sox are pinch-hitting for Everett. That's weird.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 10:55 PMI love the bases loaded dps. They make the games fun and exciting. That's one of the reasons why I was so frightened when I thought he was out for 80 games instead of 10. We could find decent replacement pitching. We could not find anyone as exciting.
I think I have to come to grips: Carlos "The Jackal" Silva is my NSMC.
Posted by: amr at April 29, 2005 10:55 PMNick, they pinch-ran for Everett in the ninth when he represented the potential winning run. So the pinch-hitter in the tenth was actually for Ozuna, the pinch-runner.
End of 10, still tied 2-2.
Posted by: Rieux at April 29, 2005 10:58 PMWe understand, amr. We understand.
Posted by: sacky at April 29, 2005 10:59 PMThanks Rieux. That makes a lot more sense.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 10:59 PMLet's go Tigres.
Posted by: sacky at April 29, 2005 10:59 PMI think Ozuna pinch ran for Everett in the 9th. I could swear I saw that on MLB.com gameday, which is frozen with Carlos Guillen on first. Wierder things could happen. He could be playing 3B. But! He's their backup catcher. If AJ gets hurt, they'll have to give up the DH (probably) or have their emergency catcher (who is...?) catch.
Not like us Twins. Twins have 3 catchers plus a LeCroy.
Posted by: amr at April 29, 2005 11:00 PMYeah, I'm using the CBS Sportsline GameCenter. According to that, Ozuna is still an available bench player, which is clearly wrong. Wouldn't it be great to be the guy who updates those? That would be a wonderful job.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 11:02 PMAlright los Tigres! Way to take advantage of a horrible pitcher. Now hold that lead with your horrible bullpen!
Posted by: sacky at April 29, 2005 11:03 PMNOOK!!!!
Posted by: amr at April 29, 2005 11:04 PMWay to go, Nook "Nook" Logan!
Good one, Adam. Attaboy, Nook!
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 11:06 PMPlease don't score in the 11th, bitches.
Posted by: Stacy at April 29, 2005 11:09 PMStrike out looking. Why doesn't Pudge do that when he's playing *my* teams?
If the BitchSox lose, tonight will be the night of incredible baseball awesomeness (see QJW's post above).
Posted by: CarrieIC at April 29, 2005 11:11 PMBitchSox lose!!
Posted by: Adam at April 29, 2005 11:16 PMSehr gut gemacht, Franklin. Du bist bestimmt "Herr Mann."
3-2 Detroit. Ausgezeichnet!
Posted by: Rieux at April 29, 2005 11:16 PMWoot. Fabulousness reigns tonight.
Posted by: Nick at April 29, 2005 11:17 PMSo, to sum things up:
The Twins win.
The Orioles win.
The Yankees lose (and additionally, Randy Johnson gets the loss).
The Bitch Sox lose.
The East Coast Bitch Sox lose.
Today is an incredibly good day.
*tingles*
Posted by: CarrieIC at April 29, 2005 11:17 PMi love the bitchsox losing.
Posted by: Tinger at April 29, 2005 11:17 PMOne more for the list: The Mariners are ahead.
my mom is back from the game, and she turned on the computer for me...
MY BOYFRIEND RULES!!! LNP is the bestest boyfriend, ever!
amazing defense, lovely bunt, great baserunning... and he's just so cute! I could eat him up! er, I mean... I could just purr at him all day long. yeah.
Posted by: Tumbleweed at April 29, 2005 11:55 PMso I have some observations about the game tonight...
Twins are down 4-1, and my friend Mike is doubting.
I said, "relax. they'll come back. give 'em a couple minutes. they just need a few innings to find the good bats."
he shook his head and looked down at his score card.
4th inning, it's 4-2. 5th inning, LNP scores to make it 4-3. Mike is getting optimistic. 6th inning, Lew scores the Doctor to tie it up, and DJ Cuddles is at the plate. Mike gets worried again.
I said, "don't worry. DJ can do this. he's gonna get a double." I stared him down from my perch in 227, sending him good bat vibes. I told him he could do it. I told Byrdie to flap his arms again and send Cuddy Bear a pitch he could hit.
AND DIMPLES HIT A DOUBLE. I'm a friggin' genius.
and to think, I almost removed my hat and replaced it with the free DQ one I'd received upon entrance to the game.
and when DJ Cuddles was at the plate again, I told him there was no reason he couldn't get another hit. I said, "he's gonna do it again, Mikey, just watch."
AND HE DID IT AGAIN.
Cuddly Bear, I love you! you can be supplemental boyfriend #3.
and then joy of joys, Yo Joe! made his way to the mound, picked at his glove between pitches, and made my heart go pitter pat as he sent the bitches crying back to their dugout. Joe Nathan is my boyfriend.
I can't wait to rewind the tape in my VCR and watch it all again tomorrow morning. it's gonna be better than Saturday morning cartoons!
p.s. I can't forget to give my love to my second boyfriend, Lewford Rex, who was, once again, a studly DH who makes my heart go all a-flutter.
and the Yanks and Bitch Sox lost... I'm just so very happy.
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 12:09 AMOH! and humorous moment of the game:
the guy sitting next to me suddenly noticed the video commercial board...
"Don't Be Blah Pork the Other White Meat"
hahahahahaha... somehow, I don't think that's the message they want to convey...
Posted by: kafumbly at April 30, 2005 12:13 AMYou and me both kafumbly...Joe Nathan is our boyfriend, and we are friggin' geniuses. ;-)
As I watched from my own perch in 224, I said to the guy I was with, "If Cuddyer could just get a hit tonight, just one...then I could justify calling him "Cuddles", just for tonight."
He promptly retorted, "If Cuddyer gets a hit, I'LL call him "Cuddles" ", at which point the woman sitting in front of us turned to him, and shook her head, saying "Now that's scary..."
I then asked my friend to call Cuddyer by a nickname that I have hated since he started using it. "The Can't miss Kid". He obliged my request, and Cuddles hit his first double. He did it again the next time he came to the plate.
I also would like to give credit to the magical popcorn that I always purchase from Candyland in St. Paul before I head to a game.
There's just something special about a mixture of classic buttered popcorn, with a little bit of cheese popcorn mixed in.
Works every time.
ha! from the recap on mlb.com:
"But as negative at-bats mounted throughout this month, rookie Terry Tiffee played well in a brief callup. The natives were getting restless, with some fans wondering if Cuddyer was the right man for the everyday job. Others wanted Cuddyer moved to second base to clear the way for Tiffee."
this guy totally reads Batgirl.
