In case you didn't see Little Nicky Punto evading catcher Dan Wilson last night as he made his little way (wee wee wee all the way) home on a sac fly, Batling Whelliston provided this exclusive photo in the comments to yesterday's entry. Batgirl thought all should see it.

As Double-A says, note the determination in his eyes!
Posted by Batgirl at April 7, 2005 11:57 AMWow. Perfect. It was exactly like that.
Posted by: Morris at April 7, 2005 12:04 PMAwwww...if Nicky was that cute in real life, I might consider giving him co-boyfriend status.
Posted by: bubblemint at April 7, 2005 12:15 PMSomebody get the groundscrew out to weed the field at Safeco.
Posted by: Me at April 7, 2005 12:19 PMDouble-A, that was a perfect picture for the situation. It was a beautiful play!
Posted by: Just Beth at April 7, 2005 12:48 PMAs cute as this little kitten is - it is no way cuter then Little Nicky Punto - IMO =)

Well done - as was the inside scoop on Starters 1 and 2.
I am pleased Little Nicky was able to elude the former rodent catcher without getting eaten. Quite frankly, I was ready to eat Little Nicky - or go like Ozzie and bite off his little head - when he killed the rally in the 5th by going 4-6-3 DP. I hope Little Nicky will forgive me for having such violent thoughts.
I just spent 2.3 seconds of my life trying to make "ground screw" work in that sentence.
Posted by: TDing to figure out at April 7, 2005 01:28 PMLaughed out loud, B-G. Too funny.
Posted by: joe oh at April 7, 2005 01:56 PMGentle readers,
Batgirl can claim no credit for this brilliance. The intrepid person who captured this exciting moment in Little Nicky Punto's life is a Batling named "Whelliston" who posted this in the comments to yesterday's entry. Batgirl can only pass it on to others.
Sincerely,
BG
I'd know that kitten anywhere. It's the kitten from the "Everytime you masturbate, God kills a kitten" gag.

It's good that the kitten's getting so much work - it's a very cute kitten.
Posted by: Haplo at April 7, 2005 02:48 PMBusted!
Posted by: whelliston at April 7, 2005 02:50 PMSo does that mean that every time we masturbate we kill a middle infielder???
Posted by: Me at April 7, 2005 03:03 PMDear Mr. Me,
Fortunately, we have plenty.
Sincerely,
BG
Dearest k-bro
Great minds - great minds......... =)
Much Love -

You guys may all know this already, but Jayson Stark has a nice piece picking the Twins to go all the way this year on the ESPN front page... of course, I'm the one who's supposed to be making dire predictions, not happy ones, so I won't comment.

Posted by: Cassandra at April 7, 2005 03:26 PM"Derek Jeter left the New York Yankees' game against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday after he was hit in the helmet by a pitch and was taken to a hospital for a precautionary CT scan.
Jeter was also hit on the left hand by Matt Clement's pitch Tuesday"
Looks like Jeter is trying to be our Young Master Morneau.
Haplo/Whelliston - I've seen this picture also with a similar tagline but with ninjas as the avengers. They're also photoshopped in the background as if they're chasing the kitten and are wielding swords to guard against onanism. I wish I knew where I'd seen it, because I laugh just thinking about it.
Posted by: Skorch at April 7, 2005 04:20 PMKurtis wonders if anyone else is excited for the Masters, which should be one of the greatest weekend of televised golf in the history of the game. Kurtis also knows that there are unsophisticated sorts, the kind that make Martinis with vodka and triple-sec, who will laugh at that sentence. The Masters, plus the Frozen Four, plus the home opener, will make for a sportsific weekend. Go Mikkelson. Go Sioux. Go Twins.
Posted by: Kurtis at April 7, 2005 04:25 PMGood job, Whelliston!
I was so happy to even see this game as my cable co is giving us a few days of MLB Extra Innings for free. Little Nicky did do some awesome base running there.
Posted by: Cathy at April 7, 2005 04:35 PMDid anyone hear the story that LeCroy called his HR before he went to the plate?
Posted by: Eric at April 7, 2005 04:38 PMOh, and this from the Strib today-
"Former Twin Eddie Guardado sneaked into the Twins' coaches office and put shoe polish inside bench coach Steve Liddle's shoes and cut up his underwear. Revenge is being planned."
Posted by: Eric at April 7, 2005 04:41 PMKurtis,
I'm jacked about the Masters as well...although I'll miss most of it since I'll be on my way to or from Minneapolis to catch my Sox in action against your beloved. I'd love to see the lanky Lefty repeat.
As for the Frozen Four, with my Big Red out of it, all interest is gone.
Worried about our bullpen but still swelling with Bitch Sox Pride,
Ilk
Posted by: Ilk at April 7, 2005 04:49 PMI wish I could take credit for the image. But my Photoshopping skills are not as ninja-assassin fine as Whelliston's.
I merely commented on the gritty determination in the eyes of "Litty Nicky Punto"
And I *thought* that kitty looked familiar.
Posted by: double-a at April 7, 2005 05:42 PMpssshh. Jeter WISHES he were as awesome as Young Master Dr. Kenny Morneau.
Posted by: aussie at April 7, 2005 06:18 PMLittle Nicky also got props last night from Harold Reynolds on Baseball Tonight for his skills at push-bunting. Apparently that's how you're supposed to hit lefthanders -- not wth you head, as the Good Doctor showed us.

You can find that image on realultimatepower.net. A long-time favorite of mine that I haven't looked at in, well, a long time. Thanks for jogging my memory.
Every time you masterbate, you kill a golfer; a good one;every time you masturbate, you kill a catcher, which explains the 4 catchers deal. Al
Posted by: al at April 7, 2005 07:14 PMFound a great picture of Punto motoring towards home:
