As you know, today Congress opened its hearings on steroid use in baseball. In case you weren't able to catch the broadcast on ESPN News, Team Batgirl is happy to provide a reenactment using our exclusive Legovision technology. We hope you find it edifying.

The scene.

The hearing room is totally packed.

This hearing is called to order!

From left to right, Jose Canseco, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmero, Curt Schilling line up to testify.

Mr. Palmero, have you ever used performance-enhancing drugs?

I am totally against the use of performance enhancing drugs of all kinds. Except, of course, for my pee pee which doesn't work so good sometimes.

In a tense moment, Curt Schilling gets up in Jose Canseco's grill.

Bud Selig arrives to testify.

Mr. Selig, what did baseball know and when did they know it?

Selig consults his lawyer.

Mr. Selig? Answer the question!

Have you no decency, Sir?
I just remembered how much I missed the Lego!

Ahhh, BG. You enrich the world. Thanks!

Posted by: Craig in MN at March 17, 2005 07:01 PMYou forgot all about Big Mac's wackiness.
"I'm retired."
"I'm not here to talk about the past."
I love LegoVision! It always makes me laugh by saying what was REALLY said and showing the action as it should've happened. I missed the hearings, but now I am totally up-to-date with what happened--I'm ready for the water-cooler talk tomorrow!

Posted by: Just Beth at March 17, 2005 08:44 PMMan, how I missed Legovision. Glad
to see someone finally realizing
it's full potential.
LOL - taking a break from college hoops -so much better then the NBA (no I did not pick Illinois to win the whole thing took Wake Forest Deamon Decons) - anyway........
All I can say is.....
It's fun to stay at the YMCA ;-)
Thanks Bat-girl
Poor Raffy - he is a nice man - I will say
Much Love
Wonder Woman
I watched a bit of it on TV, but was confused. The legos cleared things up for me, as they always do. Thanks, BG!!
Posted by: Stacy at March 17, 2005 09:36 PMwhat horrible weather today in ft myers, but atleast theyll be playing two tomorrow. oh yeah and i cant forget about the fireworks after tomorrow nights game...im so excited...
Posted by: Twinsfn343 at March 17, 2005 10:12 PMIs it just me, or does Bud Selig look suspiciously similar to Darth Thomas?
Posted by: bubblemint at March 17, 2005 10:33 PMBubblemint - I was thinking that myself. It also looks like Torii Hunter and Joe Nathan made their way to DC to watch the festivities.
Posted by: Skorch at March 17, 2005 10:53 PMLOL Bubblemint and Scorch. I knew they looked familiar;)
Well, what's anything without Sweetcheeks and the veep? hehe
Posted by: Stacy at March 17, 2005 11:03 PMBeautiful application of the Legovision technology! Again, BG, you so totally rule! Only thing missing was the blubbering "Big Mac".
Win Twins!
Posted by: talldrinkowater at March 18, 2005 02:58 AMHey, C-SPAN....you suck!
Posted by: Mission1929 at March 18, 2005 06:38 AMMcGwire would have been great working for Nixon . . .
"I did not sit in judgement of other players . . . their sexual preferences . . . marital problems . . ?"
What is he freaking talking about?
He's a cheater . . . but on the bright side his face has cleared up.
funoka,
You are right, McGwire's face has cleared up, but did anyone take note of his cranium size? The distance between his eyebrows and the top of his head is staggering. It's what we (when we think we're being really funny, and somewhat cruel) call a five-head!
As for today's legovision entry, I can't stress enough what a genius you are, BG. Thanks again for maintaining this blog and letting people (like me) enjoy your work.
Appreciatively,
YankeeFan
P.S. I am so happy to see that the heckling season is also in spring training. I am behind on my workouts, but at least Mission1929 is in mid-season form. Heckling C-SPAN, that's a new one for me...but I like it! :)
Posted by: YankeeFan at March 18, 2005 07:47 AMBG,
Thanks for the great laughs. I am envious and awestruck, in equal parts, by your creativity and wit. Keep up the great work...

Ah, good times with Legovision. Batgirl have you trademarked "Legovision"?
Posted by: HooliganKat at March 18, 2005 08:47 AMAnother baseball blog recap:
http://www.soxaholix.com/
Posted by: BAT bandwagoner at March 18, 2005 09:08 AMFYI funoka, I believe McGwire was trying to get in a dig at Canseco and the things said in his book. He discussed wife swapping by the players but I don't recall anything about sexual preferences being mentioned. Hmmmm....maybe he thinks Dave Pallone's book was about him too...
Posted by: BAT bandwagoner at March 18, 2005 09:13 AMIt's nice to see Legovision get a spring training tune-up. Even Batgirl, I'm sure, has to get her rhythm back.
Legovision brings back the memories of the early days. Back before there were 2 zillion hits/day on this site. Memories of suicide squeezes without TV coverage, brought to us in living color only by our Batgirl. Good times...
Posted by: Florida at March 18, 2005 09:17 AM
Hey Florida,
Are you related to that woman named "Miami" on the ESPN show "Tilt"?
Posted by: TheMatador at March 18, 2005 09:25 AMIs it just me or does the Congressional panel look like they're about to hit bondage-a-go-go at Ground Zero or maybe a leather night at one of the DC area bars?
Posted by: mmmarkiep at March 18, 2005 09:31 AMThey should get rid of the crappy tire races between innings at Twins games and run LegoVision replays.
(I lost $60 bucks last year betting on those nags.)
Posted by: Me at March 18, 2005 09:56 AMWell done, Florida, for remembering that Legovision was born of the Victory One fiasco!
Posted by: Jeb at March 18, 2005 10:01 AMVery Nice. An appropriate commentary on how serious ly this should be taken.
Posted by: Jimote at March 18, 2005 10:24 AMThank You for bringing back legos!
Loved the sketch on the Baseball Hearings, if only the real hearings were that funny....
That was brilliant. Too bad you don't have a Lego with a pig-like nose- he could've played Henry Waxman.
Posted by: Steve at March 18, 2005 11:19 AMAs always, another wonderful legovision entry Batgirl. I was in Washington DC yesterday, but unfortunately my meeting schedule and flight times procluded me from trying to get to the hearings, which made me a very upset baseball fan. I did, however, run into Dennis Kucinich on Wednesday, who I believe was on the committee who took part in the hearings. I was quite suprised that all the players showed up to testify. As I noted earlier in the week, I was able to meet with a member of MLB's government relations office, and they seemed to be unsure of if the players were going to testify. I think they were still trying to work out a deal to avoid it all the way to the last hours. In any case, thanks for giving me a recap!
Posted by: sadgoatboy at March 18, 2005 11:49 AMThere's something about yesterday's testimony that has bothered me all day. The media keep rehashing the quote by Mr. Hooten, his son was one of two that committed suicide after taking steroids. Admittedly, I don't know the full text of his testimony. What bothers me, though, is that it seems to me as if he's blaming the players, to an extent. I'm kind of wondering where he was when his son was shooting up steroids. I guess my question is where was the parenting? I wonder how he reacted to his son's bulking up. I wonder where and how his son got the steroids or the money for them, even. I can't imagine they're cheap. I also wonder what kind of team parent he was. Was he a proud parent or one that pushed his son hard to excel? I don't know. I just think that there's plenty of blame to go around.
Posted by: mmmarkiep at March 18, 2005 12:03 PMKat - Actually, I think the better route to go would be for Batgirl to get a patent on the technology that allows her to convert the images of these events directly to their Lego equivalent. NASA and 3M could work together for ten years, I think, and still not come up with anything nearly as effective. I fear the best they could come up with would be Duplovision.
Posted by: Skorch at March 18, 2005 12:42 PMSkorch,
Wouldn't Duplovision be like Legovision on steroids?
Win Twins!
Posted by: talldrinkowater at March 18, 2005 01:02 PMHa, Duplovision...which of course leads to playmobilevision.
So apparently Lyle showed up to pitch today. 4 innings-5 runs-1 strikeout. Also can I just say that the Baltmore radio guys suck bad. I *heart* Gordo and The Dazzleman.
Posted by: HooliganKat at March 18, 2005 01:35 PMI love Legovision. So. Much.
Posted by: Haplo at March 18, 2005 02:12 PMLoved Darth Vadar as Selig - of course I've had it in for him since he tried to do away with the Twins.
Not that I approve of steroid use, but aren't there a lot of other issues Congress should be considering instead of this?
Posted by: Nancy at March 18, 2005 08:00 PMHow about Legovision version of congressional invasion of states rights re: Teri Schiavo? Tom Delay as he really is.
