Alas, Poor F-Bomb

As Aaron says, this isn't exactly a surprise. It seems to Batgirl that the Kid should just get this thing taken care of, once and for all, because wishing ain't going to make it go away. (Though wouldn't it be cool if it did?)

Elbowgate 2006!

At least we're doing this now and not in March.

I'm an Astros fan but ever since I found your website about mid-season I've also been rooting for the Twins. I love the legovision and just overall enjoy reading the articles and comments. I'm sad to see that Liriano may need the dreaded TJ surgery. One of our pitchers, Brandon Backe, had to have it at the end of this season and I sure will miss him next year. He had the elbow problem from the second week of the season on and rest and rehab didn't help. He's so full of energy and being that he grew up just outside of Houston as a huge Astros fan he is so fun to watch b/c of his excitement to be playing for his favorite team. He looks so sad sitting on the bench during the dugout not being able to play sometimes. He's our best cheerleader though and I hope he can get through this year okay. Whatever happens with Liriano I hope he'll make a full recovery and here's to an Astros\Twins world series in 2007!!!

That sound you just heard was Carlos Silva's wallet getting fatter as Terry Ryan signs his option for next season.

Sigh.

Dear Misters V/k,

How does that sound go? Is that like a splurch?

Wonderingly,
Batgirl

I just read this story a few minutes ago before seeing it here. Props to BG for being on top of her game, as always.

But, geez, what a way to ruin an afternoon.

You know, some things are just too good to be true. The concept of two Johan's is just too much for the Gods to allow in one universe.

That sound you just heard was all the opposing batters in the American League letting out a collective sigh of releif.

I hate that sound.

Posted by: Flip at October 25, 2006 11:48 AM

BG - I suspect that our boy Carlos has a nice leather wallet, one that would emit a pleasing groan (much like the sound one hears when getting up from a leather sofa) as it expands. Some lesser men might have a Velcro fastener on their billfold, which would, of course, result in that cheap tearing sound we all know and loathe.

Speaking of tearing, 'Cisco - do what you must to get right. If it's surgery, so be it. But, if it is, let's get rolling. And, while you're at it, maybe call Bradke up and beg him to give us one more season...

Posted by: adidasman at October 25, 2006 01:26 PM

I was going to say the same type of thing as adidas.. What needs to be done, needs to be done, and do it sooner rather than later. Hopefully Bradke can get some more glue for a few months this 2007 season until "Phenom" (our nickname for Cisco around where I live) can get 100% and potentially help us out by August or September, if its not TJ surgery.

I'm not too concerned about our rotation without Liriano. If the lineup can get back to where it was the last half of the season, we won't need his arm as baddly as we did when he first arrived.

Looking at the playoffs...the absence of Liriano WASN'T what cost us the series. If this makes sure he comes back at full health, then I'm all for it. Our offense is good enough to hold up the pitching staff until he gets back.

You hate to have surgery at that age, but Chris Carpenter had an operation done a couple years back and he seems fine. Something is obviously wrong so if he feels he needs it, I guess we go kid-less the first half or all of 07 to get it fixed. It's his future, so I guess it's really his decision. Get well soon cisco...

Oh, balls.

I second what everyone else has said. Whatever we do, let's get going. The only way out is through, so the sooner the better.

Patience, F-Bomb. Some things cannot be sped, and to do so is folly. Where's Johan? Mentor alert!

Posted by: Carmen at October 25, 2006 06:07 PM

The offseason really does suck...

Posted by: TCFan at October 25, 2006 06:54 PM

As a doc I'd point out that if surgery was clearly needed I'm sure it would have been done by now. Difficulty is that it's hard to know and once surgery is done, even the exploratory type, you're committed to dealing with the consequences. I doubt they'll wait/rehab forever and it sounds like a re-evaluation is in process which is always appropriate. But if a bit more time and patience (which I'm sure a young active type like Francisco finds VERY hard!) will take care of it, why rush the potential complications of surgery? If it's needed it can always be done in the future. Here's to a nonsurgical solution.....if it exists!

Maybe Silva needs to put some pine tar on that fat leather wallet and keep in his backpockets during the game. Then he can get a little help to make the damn sinker actually sink!

Posted by: Shaun at October 25, 2006 08:01 PM

Oh ----(F-Bomb)
Here, here Dr. Jane,
So here is to a full recovery with or with-out the knife.
PS how long are they going to delay this darn game before they call it?

Posted by: Twin-X at October 25, 2006 09:38 PM

Get it sorted, bring him back slowly, think long term

Otherwise you're just the Cubs, and no-one wants that

Is there extra fish glue, just in case?
