Ladies and Gentleman...

Your Baseball America Player of the Year.

Aaron Gleeman once said the MVP is the first guy you pick when you're starting a baseball team. Is there anyone you'd pick over this guy?

*whistles* That a way El Presidente!

Posted by: Newton at October 20, 2006 01:12 PM

I, for one, am VERY pleased to hear this. El Presidente es STILL en fuego! (Even in the offseason)

Off topic but the "Fire Joe Morgan" website pointed out the none of the 19 baseball "experts" at espn.com picked either of the two WS teams to win it. These picks were made just before the playoffs started.

And Gardy has signed a two-year extension.

Oh yeah! He's such a stud. Great article, too.

But seriously, who wrote that headline? Liza Doolittle?

He should be awarded that always.

Posted by: L. at October 20, 2006 05:12 PM

bc - and only ONE of those "experts" picked one of the WS contenders to even make it to their respective division series!

Posted by: antonymous at October 20, 2006 05:45 PM

To be fair, it's not really the "expert's" fault. Baseball is so unpredictable.
Damm Mets.

I know this made Batgirl happy: "He takes multiple visits to the whirlpool each week. He'll jump in hot whirlpools for a few minutes then switch to cold whirlpools, the process of working out muscle soreness."

I think this is my favorite part of the story
===
Santana does all of it usually with a smile on his face, cracking jokes in the clubhouse and often wishing everyone, "Happy Birthday," when he arrives at the park.

Why? He views every day alive as a day worth celebrating.

When reporters noticed a smiley face and balloons drawn under the bill of Santana's cap this year, he replied: "That's what it's all about, happiness and balloons."

LOL
Man I love these players.
Happiness and balloons to you all!

Congratulations "happiness and balloons" in-deed.

Props to La Velle Neal on a fantastic article illuminating one of the true great ones of the game. I use the term "great one" with EXTREME prejudice. But, that is what we have, ladies and gentlemen. Amongst our beloved team, we have a true great one.

Balloons and smiley faces. Is there anything more frustrating for a batter than facing down a pitcher who makes you seriously question your self-worth, only to find out he has SMILEY FACES and BALLOONS under his cap?
Brilliant.
