We should be rewarding offensive excellence here, because Gwynn knows we need to encourage all of that we can get, but, um, hello. Johan es en fuego. 8 innings, 12 strikeouts, 2 hits, no runs, one big Cy Young case, and one more
Boyfriend of the Day. Thank you, Mr. President.

Posted by Batgirl at September 5, 2006 08:50 PMWhoa Johan...HOT doesn't even begin to describe you.
Posted by: Newton at September 5, 2006 08:51 PMen mucho fuego!
Posted by: billhedrick at September 5, 2006 08:52 PMEl Presidente WAS en fuego! It was awesome! I was ticked when DJ Cuddles got robbed of a homerun by that stupid fan who just HAD to reach out and grab at the ball. Whatever. AT LEAST WE WON! Could this be the end of the crap-battery?
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at September 5, 2006 08:54 PMHere's one that can't be blamed on anthony john! unless you're tampa bay.
YAY JOHAN!!!!!!!!!!!! MLB's 1st 17 game winner!
What! No love for DJ cuddles after he gets the team going by doing his best imitation of a linebacker between 2nd and 3rd! Plus some excelent hitting. Much love to the Pres. but I have come to expect great things from that branch of Twins government.
Posted by: Paco3791 at September 5, 2006 08:56 PMEl Presidente es el hombre.
Posted by: Spacey Stacey at September 5, 2006 08:56 PMholy moly, I forgot... Also **triple crown**
El Presidente!
Hot Hot Hot
Seattle just went ahead of Detroit 4-3. Looking good.
Posted by: sld at September 5, 2006 08:59 PMyahoo Johan!
Posted by: kafumbly at September 5, 2006 09:03 PMNick Punto had some salty words for the home plate ump. I'm not sure why-looked like a good pitch to me. I don't endorse striking out, but I wouldn't have fought that. Then it looked like he was filing his nails in the dugout. I like that kid. He's my Boyfriend.
Posted by: Erin at September 5, 2006 09:16 PMwow. thats about all i can say. that was awesome, johan!
Posted by: Hannah! at September 5, 2006 09:16 PMTomorrow, Johan will be the AL leader in wins, strikeouts, and ERA.
Posted by: Donnalove at September 5, 2006 09:18 PMI'm pretty sure Johan is going to best the NL as well. I hope he can finish there. Right now the Cy Young discussion begins and ends with El Presidente.
Posted by: Bob at September 5, 2006 09:25 PMWhat a dominant performance. And how about the 544 fans that showed up--most of them wearing Twins jerseys? How awful it must be to be a Tampa Bay fan--if "Tampa Bay fan" is not an oxymoron. What do you cheer for? And how 'bout them Red Sox? Woo-hoo!
Posted by: opposite field at September 5, 2006 09:27 PMI'm convinced that the state of Florida does not like baseball... I mean it's not just tampa bay. Look at the Marlins and how many people are in the stands during their games. I could probably host a BBQ with a higher attendence. What do those teams have to do to draw fans? they already have 2 world championships.
Posted by: gina at September 5, 2006 09:29 PMTropicana Field: The world's largest Home Depot.
Gee, you think the Prez is in a groove? Oh my! More, please.
Perhaps it was something in the water back in Chicago. BSox have a serious case of Ass Bats, too. A real shame. (hee hee)
Posted by: E-6 at September 5, 2006 09:36 PMSeriously, just when you thought a domed stadium couldn't have a more preposterous set of guy wires and dangling accoutrement than our beloved hump dome, they build Tropicana Field.
Posted by: lever at September 5, 2006 09:48 PM
SO en fuego.
And so sweet, too. That pre-game bit about how he's donating a firetruck to his hometown in Venezuela was just further evidence.
He's so hot, we need a new word for hot.
