B.O.D.

It's about frackin' time. The Chairman was hitting below .370! Disgraceful.

Also, triples are hot.

Nice.

I would've given it to the Jackal for his first quality start in... a long time. But the Chairman is a fine choice.

Oh, and Nomaaaaaah vs. Chairman, round 1: not even close.

"his first quality start in... a long time"

you mean his 3rd in a row.

I think we can chalk up another sweep at this point.

That's what I get for not looking these things up.

Dear Ms. Kris,

It happens to BG all the time.

Sincerely,
BG

I called to gloat to a Dodgers friend, he didn't want to talk, I am going to the game tomorrow, he said that it might have been a good idea to go today. I guess he has not seen the kid pitch. Congratulations to Mower that was some nice hitting.

Posted by: Twin-X at June 26, 2006 10:02 PM

I know it's a confusing, but I'm actually a guy.

Don't worry, this is only the 8,323rd time this has happened.

Posted by: Kris at June 26, 2006 10:06 PM

Oh, and the 'Stros are not doing us any damn favors.

Beat the kitties, stupid NL team!

Posted by: Kris at June 26, 2006 10:09 PM

Hey- Morneau must have figured if he was going to let someone else have the B.O.D it better be the guy who puts a roof over his head right?

Posted by: allie at June 26, 2006 10:09 PM

I imagine most conversations at the Mauer/Morneau household go a little like this:

"Hey, we hit a lot."

"And hard. We hit it hard."

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

"And a lot. We hit it a lot."

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

Oh, come on, you know M&M are discussing special relativity when no one's looking.

BG,

Wish you could have joined us!

Further commentary from the NSA wiretap in the Mauer/Morneau household:

"You gonna hit a homer tonight?"

"I dunno. Maybe tomorrow."

"I think I'll hit a triple, that'll be fun."

"Yeah, that sounds fun. How 'bout some ribbies?"

"Would six be too many?"

"Yeah, don't want to be greedy."

"Right. Hey, pass the milk."

hooray for the Chairman! triples are, indeed, hot, as is going 4-for-5. yahoo!

I sent an email to a friend this afternoon saying that I thought Joe needed to dust off his QuickSwing, 'cause that pathetic .368 batting average was just unacceptable. hee hee. .377 is way cooler.

Hey everyone! I foresee a whole column about a "conversation" in the M&M household. Perhaps this occasion may be deemed "Legovision"-worthy? One can dream....

I know this part is about BOD and, of course, I love your choice...but Todd, yes,you are writing about Torii, yes? Yes please keep Torii. He is a big part of the heart and soul of the Twins. He is sublime in the field and his hitting comes along. But he has the spark, the joy of the game, the intensity, and a number of great years left to be a beloved and highly contributing Twin. He's worth it and it would be bleak, indeed, if we had to watch him leap the wall for another team.

I am in baseball glee land these days--how 'bout them Twins!

Cheers, kal

I don't read a lot of baseball blogs. In fact, if I read a blog other than BG's in a month, it is rare. So, forgive me if this idea is floating around the blogosphere: What happens if Gardie DHs The Chairman twice a week? I read somewhere (don't want to admit where - - don't ask -- ok, it was, [GOD!] in Sid's column) that Mr. Mauer is hitting .630 when he is DH. If he DH-ed twice a week, would he have a shot at .400 overall? Is that an insane idea? NBP seems to be a pretty good human backstop. I don't think we lose a lot when he is on defense and he is a fine hitter. I think this would require us getting a backup catcher, but we've been living dangerously with
Redmond in the line up and Joe DH-ing for way to long already. Any thoughts?

Um...
Soon it will be Lewww's turn to pour it on!

Thanks Kal and yes its about Tori (dont know how to do links)
Have not loved (why not) a Twin this much since our KP

Perhaps the Chairman hit that triple to show off for "his girlfriend," Miss USA. Whatever the reason - it's hot.

Chat in IRC that I came back to. It's not a baseball related IRC room.

[04:12] Jesus Christ. Not only is Joe Mauer currently leading the batting race (as a catcher)...
[04:12] ...he's also dating the 2005 Miss America winner.
[04:16] It's good to be the Mauer.
[04:17] And according to Wikipedia, he turned down a football scholarship at Florida State (quarterback) to play baseball.
[04:18] That's the sort of man you really want to meet, kill, and eat the heart of.
[04:19] Heart is tasty.
[04:19] If a bit tough.
[04:20] Chewy can sometimes suck

A conversation between a Minnesotan and a Canadian, eh?

Posted by: fehler at June 27, 2006 09:39 AM

Way to go, Chairman! It was time you started back to your hitting ways. It's a pretty good day when we complain about a .368 batting average!

Brooklynegg: Lately Joe Mauer has been DHing on some off-days, but I think Gardy is also careful to get him some time off just to rest. Catching is hard on a player.

fun joe mauer story, maybe some of you remember it...

he shows up to his first big league spring training driving a toyota or something, despite being a millionaire, and says that escalades and porsches are big league cars and he's not getting one til he's a proven major leaguer.

a minor league coach is asked about him by a reporter and says (i'm paraphrasing here because i don't remember where to look it up) "he catches like a gold-glover, has the plate discipline of a veteran all star, perfect swing, and hell, i've got a couple of daughters i'd like him to meet."
