B.O.D.

A hard one. BG just doesn't know what to do when the Doctor doesn't get this thing, it's been so long. And really any number of Twins contributed to the win, from His Boofness to the Revenge of the Red Wings trio (Tiffles and Kubel and Bart, oh my!) getting us all of our runs to Rincon and Dennys Sampler tying things up so nicely. And BG didn't know what she was going to do until the very end of the game when the Nathannator struck out Phil Nevin for his 100th career save. 100th save? He's been a closer for two and a half years? Crap. That's awesome. And that makes you, the Veep/Automatic/the Nathanest of Joes/ Twitchy McXanax, the Boyfriend of the Day.

Yay Joe! My little sister's been going around doing his little cheek-puffy exhalation of nervousness all day, I'll tell her it earned him a BOD.

Now, if it weren't for that darned Kyle Lohse this'd be, what, 12 wins in a row?

Posted by: twinkiething at June 24, 2006 08:51 PM

Yay. Doctor didn't get it. Tomorrow let's start a five-game streak, Lew!

Posted by: Jeb at June 24, 2006 09:06 PM

Batgirl, I'm glad my Cubs can bring you joy. My only rejoinder is this: are you at all embarassed having a pitcher named "Boof"?

Posted by: Lisa at June 24, 2006 09:35 PM

Lisa - Let me ask you this: Are you at all embarassed to lose to a pitcher named "Boof"? Yeah, thought so...

Posted by: dlarso01 at June 24, 2006 09:43 PM

We love the name Boof! It's so much fun. So was watching him pitch tonight!

Posted by: Nick at June 24, 2006 09:47 PM

'Twas a thrill to watch from Section 220, Row 1 as Boof and the Veep pitched their butts off and the guys got those timely hits off Prior. But even better was the song that RD and TwinsGoddess got to sing on the way to the car after the game!!!!

WE'VE EATEN OUR DOME DOGS
GAME AFTER GAME
WE'VE MOCKED THE DAMN WAVE
WHICH WILL ALWAYS BE LAME

AND BAD DOME FOODS
WE'VE EATEN A FEW
WE'VE HAD OUR SHARE OF BAD BREAKS IN THE RACE
BUT NOW WE'VE COME THROUGHHHHH.....

WE WERE THE WIENER WINNERS, MY FRIENDS
WE KEPT ON EATING, TIL THE END
WE WERE THE WIENER WINNERS
WE WERE THE WIENER WINNERS
NO TIME FOR ICE CREAM
'CAUSE WE WERE THE WIENER WINNERSSSSSS
OF THE DOME!!!!!

Now, if we can only get a Legovision reenactment... But that might be asking too much.

Posted by: RonDavis at June 24, 2006 09:48 PM

Oh yeah. Hormel Row of Fame, baby.

All you weiner losers WISH you could be a weiner winner... like ME. (And RD.)

Posted by: TwinsGoddess at June 24, 2006 09:51 PM

I have been a wiener winner!!! welcome to the club!

and Yo Joe!!! damn straight, he's the boyfriend of the day! woohooo!

Posted by: kafumbly at June 24, 2006 10:03 PM

You were in the Hormel Row of Fame? It's been my lifelong dream to be in that row. You two are so cool.

I did, however, sing along happily with the song, as I always do.

Posted by: Nick at June 24, 2006 10:03 PM

I am beyond jealous.

Posted by: Donnalove at June 24, 2006 10:05 PM

Yeah, Twitchy! I wore your shirt today and you won! Whoosh!

As did I, Nick. Even though I didn't have anyone to sing with tonight (my first solo game, and it was kinda weird. However, it was also fantastic for obvious reasons)...

I mean, it's, like, a REQUIREMENT to sing along with the Hormel Row of Fame song. Congrats on the weiners, RD & TG.

Posted by: FordHoiberg at June 24, 2006 10:31 PM

It was a very fun game to attend. Yay for Twitchy! 100 saves _and_ a BOD! Woohoo!

And congrats to RD and TG on being Wiener Winners. My dislike of hot dogs has always prevented me from having any desire to be in the row of fame, but it has never prevented me from singing along to the song.

Posted by: Rach at June 24, 2006 10:38 PM

Dearest Mr Davis and Ms. Goddess,

That is the coolest thing EVER.

Awefully,
BG

My best friend was once in the row right behind the Hormel Row of Fame. He said he could see himself on the big screen as they passed the dogs out to the people in front of him. I'm amazed that being so tantalizingly close to a free dome dog didn't irrevocably crush his soul.

Anyway, yay Nathan! He's awesome.

Posted by: Will at June 24, 2006 11:24 PM

there's no way Boof should be denied this award. joe did what he always does, nothing special.

Posted by: at June 25, 2006 01:06 AM

Psst.

"Does the BODSHC accept whining and/or talkbalk? Under no circumstances. The BODSHC's rule is absolute."

Posted by: Will at June 25, 2006 01:25 AM

Boof will have many more opportunities. Nathan will only get one 100th Career save.

And it's especially impressive, since he had like 1 coming into the month.

My very own boyfriend as B.O.D.? And he beat the streak held by the Doctor too??
I'm so proud!!

Dear R.D.,
You will be happy to know that the wave was acknowledged during the broadcast by our own DicknBert, and Bert said they had to do it when it came around to the press box.
Dick refused, and the cameraman showed them at that moment.

Bert stood up, Dick did not. He said "I just won't do it" a number of times, and even when Bert accused him of being a party pooper, he stuck to his guns.

I have never loved Mr. Bremer as much as I loved him at that moment.
In my opinion, that in and of itself made him an honorary boyfriend.

Oh, and congrats on being a wiener winner.
Winning at Twingo is nice too, but it's not quite the same, since you do it in anonymity...as you now know, there is nothing quite like being in the H.R.O.F.

Love,
bubblemint

Dear Lisa,

I have a special affection for young Boof.
Not only is it a great baseball name, but it is also the sound my beloved childhood dog Zeke used to make when he wasn't quite sure whether he really wanted to bark or not.

Boof, boof, boof...

Oh, and the next time you see Mark Prior, please let him know how grateful we Twins fans are that he made it clear that if we drafted him, he would refuse to sign with us.
Whatever his reasons were, they are now moot, and we have Joe Mauer.

We love Joe Mauer.

We especially loved him last night when Bynum stole second base, and foolishly decided to jump right out there and try to steal third too.

Silly Freddie...I hope he has learned his lesson.
You can do that to other catchers and get away with it, but you can't do it to the Chairman.
He will not stand for it.

And I think he made that perfectly clear.

Best wishes,

bubblemint

I was a season ticket holder for 9 years before I finally made it into the hot dog row of fame. This was during the lean years, and it was pretty funny watching people fly into the empty seats in our row to get that free dog. I confess I too sing along every game...

Posted by: Ellen at June 25, 2006 08:15 AM

Dear Ms. Lisa,

In fact, Boof, I think is a great deal of his charm.

Sincerely,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at June 25, 2006 08:33 AM

JustBeth and I like to sing along, too, but we must always pause at "you'll win a Hor-" and pick up at the next line in honor of that afternoon game last season when the "record" got stuck, and it repeated "you'll win a Hor-" about five times in a row before they finally cut off the song. hahahahaha good times.

Posted by: kafumbly at June 25, 2006 08:37 AM

I was just going to ask when you were going to have Joe Nathan as you BOD. I think tha the deserves a littel more credit but doesnt get it because he is so hot. bye

Hooray for Joe! And for getting into the Row of Fame!

I must admit I got cranky while watching Baseball Tonight (so what else is new?) where all they talked about was Mark Prior. Okay, the acknowledged Joe's save too. But not a single shot of Boof! C'mon! Boof! (Who else is amused when Bert goes "BOOF!"? He's kinda goofy, you know.)

Posted by: Laurel Krahn at June 25, 2006 09:34 AM

"there's no way Boof should be denied this award. joe did what he always does, nothing special."

psst.. dear anonymous.

My Nathanest is ALWAYS special and once in awhile the other guys on the team let him show as the hot sexy "sit-downer" that he is.

Have to say I'm pretty excited about the BOD thing - although Kristie will witness that I just giggled through the entire inning from our seats as we watched. Even our non-baseball friend who was with us, knew what a CLOSER was.

Way to go TG and RD.

I WILL be a wiener winner!

"Bert stood up, Dick did not. He said "I just won't do it" a number of times, and even when Bert accused him of being a party pooper, he stuck to his guns."

Dick! You're my hero!

I hate the wave.

In light of the Yankee fan-toned responses to my little post above, I guess I did not clearly convey the wry tone with which I poked fun at your Boof. It was my intention in the post to make fun of myself and other Cubs fans, that all we have left is to make fun of a silly-named pitcher for the Twins. Surely that is known as "rock bottom."
