Posted by Goober at April 14, 2006 10:25 PMHas there been any word yet on what caused Scott Baker's (apparently) hilarious trip to the clubhouse in the middle of the second inning? DicknBert were speculating that his athletic supporter broke; I'm thinking that he completely forgot to put his cup in!
Posted by: Roscoe at April 14, 2006 10:59 PMI was wondering about that trip to the clubhouse myself. We were actually at the game, and when he disapparated my tummy did flipflops.
Posted by: talldrinkowater at April 14, 2006 11:38 PMBaker's (ah) cup broke off and fell to his knee. He calls Mauer out who calls umpire/Gardy out and Baker is allowed to go in and "adjust" himself. The bench was in stitches!!
Posted by: Dr Jane at April 14, 2006 11:45 PMAccording to the AP, his strap broke, and his cup was falling down his leg. He took it out, and then put in a new one between innings. That's just fantastic... just like the game! (Click my name for the link.)
Posted by: Nick at April 14, 2006 11:45 PMIt's not just you annun - the pic isn't working for me either. I wish I knew what I was missing.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at April 15, 2006 12:24 AMNick-There's nothing about the cup in that article as far as i could read.
Fantastic game either way. 1/3 of the way to our second sweep in a row and tomorrow's El Presidente vs Jared Wright. Methinks there's going to be some fun with bats tomorrow.
Posted by: TwinsinBoston at April 15, 2006 01:18 AMI could totally see "Broken Cup" Baker pitching with the old-timers in "Field of Dreams" -- sounds like a great throwback nickname to me!
Posted by: dlarso01 at April 15, 2006 08:06 AMI Tivo'd the game and replayed Mr. Baker's "trip to the dugout". If one looks carefully enough, one would see that as our beloved pitcher is walking, the cup resides just north of his left kneecap.
I'm willing to bet good money that he will not hear the end of this for the remainder of the season.

Love, love, love the pictures, Goober! I had to stop laughing before I could type. *snort* ...oh, there. Now I'm done. *giggle* *sniggle* *ha* Uh...there. Better. *snigger*...
