Lewny for Lew

Someone slipped this Strib clip under Batgirl's door at her "spiritual retreat" and she had to post it, merely to thank Lew Ford for being who he is and keeping this whole blog alive singlehandedly.

Q&A with Lew Ford:

Now excuse BG, she has a "meeting."

Lew: "I could only bring like one change of clothes because I brought my computer."
Comment: Yup, that's why he's my boyfriend.

Lew: "You should have seen his face when he asked how I knew the guys and they said, "We met on the Internet." He just stood there and stared."
Comment: I think many of us Batlings have seen this reaction on the faces of our loved ones, friends, or co-workers at one point or another.

They were probably a little confused as to why the very married Lew was using an online dating service... and why he was dating several guys. heh

Oops, HE was confused. Not THEY were confused.

Aw, screw it.

Lew: "You have to remember: I don't take the big one on every trip."

Oh, Lordy. Maybe he's talking about his bat?

I'm going to the church of baseball tonight---watching the TWINS bust the YANKEES streak, now *that's* what I call GOOD FRIDAY.

I watched "Major League" last night (for about the 900th time) and I couldn't help but think that the current Twins clubhouse has enough characters in it for a similar movie. In fact, from reading Lew's Q&A yesterday, I think he's already working on a script... whether on purpose or not. Professional screenplay writers just aren't that good.

"I don't take the big one on every trip."

But.. I guess that means he does take 'the big one' on _some_ of the trips? Like, maybe when they are just going to Milwaukee or Kansas City, he slips his desk top into the luggage hold of the bus?

Also, note that he called his desktop computer a "mainframe". I always thought that mainframes were those honkin' big Sun Solaris or IBM Big Blues. Maybe Lew has a special computer that he plays chess against.

He is just the greatest -- I had the good fortune to give him a high five in one of the inner hallways while I was on the clubhouse tour at TwinsFest.

Dude. I think I might have shared a house with Lew Ford in college. Oh, no, wait, it was another EverCrack geek.

One who wasn't nearly as adorkable, and couldn't play baseball so well, either, Carrie.

I love him.

That's why he's my boyfriend.

I should start playing online games so he'll hang out with me when they play the Angels.

Lewwwwww.... he's one we'll be talking about for ages. He may never make it into the Twins hall of fame or anything, but he is definitely a player to remember, both for his on-field play and off-field goofiness!

It's stuff like this that make me adore this guy. If, for some reason, his days with the Twins ever come to an end, I would definitely like seeing him in blue and orange. Hell, if we wait long enough, he may wind up wearing a Mets uniform in the Twins dugout as it is.

Way to go vs. the Yanks, btw... keep up the strong work. I'm already working on the sign I'm gonna bring to Mets games this season... every time Mr. Wright comes up or comports himself in a defensively stellar fashion, I will hold up my placard bearing the words "Derek Who-ter?"
