More goodies from Goober's basement. The '57 Spring Training Brooklyn Dodgers ball, he's selling to the highest bidder, but these are staying under his pillow.

Great memories these three...now THESE were Twins.
Posted by: oh at November 9, 2005 05:17 AMThe Twins used to have a farm team here in my hometown(Lynchburg, VA) from '70-'74. Several future Twins passed through here, like Steve Braun, Craig Kusick, Rob Wilfong, and Mike Cubbage.
Posted by: cardsrul at November 9, 2005 06:58 AMI love Dan Ford's chops.
Posted by: Roscoe at November 9, 2005 09:54 AMThose are fabulous - disco Dan Ford -lol - do you think he could really do the hustle???
RIP peace to both Larry and Lymon
Now if Goober can find a Bombo Rivera card - that would be something or one with Kenny Landreaux's big hair =) Tho I doubt his hair ever got as big as Oscar Gamble's hair =)
Much Love
WW
Awesome to see those cards again!
Any other Batlings remember the old RC Cola promotional pop cans from the mid-late seventies that featured the photos of each Twin right on the can? I had a whole set of those, and was the envy of all the elementary school boys ( they couldn't believe a * girl * would be interested in sports .... )
Posted by: Garage Logician at November 9, 2005 10:32 AMDear WW
I am the proud owner of a Bombo Rivera card, but it is with the Expos, if anyone remembers a team called the Expos. As a kid I really like to collect cards with funny names.
The Twins cards I like the most was some guy named Carew.

Posted by: mike at November 9, 2005 11:37 AMps not that his name was funny.
Posted by: mike at November 9, 2005 11:38 AMHey, Garage. I remember those! I never got the Twins cans, though. I do remember having a can with Ken Griffey (Sr.) on it. That was pretty cool.
Posted by: hrunting at November 9, 2005 01:06 PMMike - that doesn't really count ;-)
Gotta have Bombo in a poweder blue Twins uniform
much love
Wonder Woman
Goober - how do I bid on the ball?
Posted by: insider at November 9, 2005 05:58 PMDoes anyone remember the "Bombo Rivera" song Garrison Keillor sang back in the day?
Bombo, Bombo
Bombo Rivera
What other guys get one of
Bombo, he gets a pair-a
It takes two to tango and two to mambo
But you can do it all with just one Bombo
Bombo Rivera will carry us to victory.
are these listed in ebay?
Posted by: noel at November 10, 2005 02:42 AMI have a Lyman Bostock signature on a *gasp* White Sox program (he signed it at Comiskey -- the real one). Unfortunately, it faded along with the program cover itself but is still recognizable by the inprint on the paper. Wish it were still legible though.
Posted by: Eric at November 10, 2005 12:38 PMDear Mr. Noel,
gobber's not selling! The ball he'll get authenticated, though, and then might auction it.
Sincerely,
BG
Is that the original Soul Patrol?
Click my name for the tragic story of Lyman Bostock's murder. He sounded like he was a genuinely stand-up guy.
