A message from Batling Laurel:
Team Batgirl and Batlings,
Richard and Janice Krahn
Invite you to join the celebration
and root, root, root for the home team
as their daughter
Laurel Ann Krahn marries
Kevin Glen Austin
son of Robert and Gloria Austin
on Saturday, September seventeenth
Two thousand and five
At ten o'clock in the morning
Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
34 Kirby Puckett Place
Minneapolis, Minnesota
If you're there on Saturday for the game (at 11am!), please stop by section 228, rows 7-10, to say hi to the blushing bride.
Posted by Batgirl at September 14, 2005 08:23 PMThat is the single most awesome thing I have ever heard in my life, I may actually skip out on a previous engagement to say hi (and go see my Minnesota Twins :))
Posted by: Hannah (the second) at September 14, 2005 08:31 PMThanks!
The actual wedding is at 10:15am or so, with 82 other couples on the field as part of WCCO Radio's "multiple matrimony" promotion.
Boy do I have to get up early. You can't imagine how happy I am that the rotation got changed a little and Johan is starting the game.
There'll be 60 or so friends and family in section 228 (most of the other wedding parties are gonna be down in 115).
Batlings that are at the game should definitely stop by our section and say hello.

Yes, you should all come! I thought this was so amazingly cool that I'm flying in from Seattle for it. Laurel and Kevin are awesome cool people, and I'm sure all of the other couples are too. Plus, how often do you get a wedding invitation that reads "root root root for the home team"?
I've never been to the Metrodome before, but I am sure it'll be the coolest wedding hall I've ever been to :)
Posted by: Deanna at September 14, 2005 09:27 PMCongrats to the both of you. Best wishes on your big day!
Posted by: closetJaysfan at September 14, 2005 09:32 PMThat is very much cool! How fun is that, getting married at the Dome? (Okay, I know a lot of you would argue that, but hey, I'm one of the Dome's supporters, not naysayers - today's rainout is proof enough as to why.)
Many warm wishes for the both of you, and have fun cheering on El Presidente!
Posted by: FordHoiberg at September 15, 2005 01:20 AMThanks for the congrats!
When I wrote in to WCCO back in July (or was it June even?), I told them about how I've followed the Twins my whole life.
And how my parents have had partial season tickets since 1985 and I've been to many, many games (even during some rather dark times). My fiance started going to games with us regularly a couple years ago when we were dating; he's followed the Twins off and on for a long time too. We both read this site, of course. And have watched or listened to most games this season.
I was at the Dome the night the roof tore and the game was delayed, I was at the Dome the time there was a delay 'cuz of a power outtage, I was there for that weird "to be continued" game where the game was tied and they said "come back tomorrow" (man, that better not happen on Saturday). I was there for the 1985 All-Star game. I was there for game 7 of the '91 series, one of the high points of my life. It seems like I've spent half my life at the Dome. While I very much want a new ballpark, I've grown fond of the Dome over the years.
I never dreamed of any sort of traditional wedding, so when Kevin and I heard about this promotion (we'd been dithering on where to have our ceremony), it just seemed perfect. (I get some strange looks from people when they hear about it, but we think it's cool).
Sorry for babbling, I'm just excited (and running on adrenalin at this point).
Congratulations! What fun!
And it so happens we'll be at the game! (we have partial season tickets we share w/my bro) And our seats are in section 222 so I'll pop over and say "hi", maybe toss some rice. I'll be wearing my newish pink Jacque is my BF T-shirt. How fortunate for us the rotation has shifted to bring us El Presidente. I hope this series will make those of who've pledged for homers a little poorer.
Congratulations and best wishes to both of you!
Posted by: anothertwinsfan at September 15, 2005 08:46 AMDear Laurel and Kevin,
Hearty congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together. I can't think of a better way to start your new adventure.
Please be sure to post pictures; I'd love to see them.
k-bro
Posted by: k-bro at September 15, 2005 10:53 AMI'll be there. Best wishes!
Posted by: Torhu at September 15, 2005 11:38 AMI will also be there. With my fiancee (we're also tying the knot at the Dome). I'll be in the Morneau jersey with the Rincon BF t-shirt underneath. She'll be in the blank jersey.
Mitcho
Posted by: Mitcho at September 15, 2005 01:41 PMThanks for the congrats and there will be pictures I'm sure.
Cool, Mitcho! I'll be wearing a poofy white skirt and baseball Keds, I still haven't quite decided on which jersey (probably a Torii jersey of some sort). Kevin will be wearing a suit with a black Twins jersey on under the suitcoat. Say "hi" if you spot us, I'll watch for the Rincon BF shirt.
We're sitting up in 228 afterward.
The Twins press release for the event now lists Tony Oliva as one of the "celebrity witnesses" who'll be signing the marriage licenses.
Posted by: Laurel at September 15, 2005 04:40 PMDear Laurel and Kevin,
That is Totally Trucking Awesome!
Signing a career long contract with a no trade clause for a team you love. It's what ever player, deep down, truly wants.
It's not about the money. It's about the love of the game and the people you get to play with.
My best wishes to you. May your pitches always be
on target, and may you score every night!
Mark, from Oly. wa.
Nice blessing, Mark. ;)
I was there today - were you and Kevin on the leftmost side of the pulpit (rightmost side if you were facing it)? If so, I think I saw you :) Congrats again, and I'm glad that the Twins could pull off such a fabulous win to help you celebrate!
