Jackal, Cheeseburger.

Now that the introductions are out of the way, let's get this started!

let's get this party started!
hey, an opinion poll. should i go see a series with the royals or the tigers?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:14 PM

Bad News: Cleveland...again

Good News: We're at the Dome, not the Jake. Therefore, Stacy's poor, sensitive ears will not be exposed to those damn drums that make her pull out all of her hair in annoyance.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 06:14 PM

or baltimore?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:15 PM

I know we brought up the idea a few weeks ago to get a large group to join HooliganKat in Sect 214 on June 18 against the Padres. Any interest?

I can get there when the gates open to help hold seats...

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 06:17 PM

oooh, Baltimore, kierra. I'm sure Carrie will agree. :)

and Stacy, I'm with ya on the freakin' drums. I must never go to that stadium, or I'll grab the drum stick out of the guy's hand and whack him over the head with it. but he's not as bad as the guy in Tampa...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 06:18 PM

Definately Baltimore

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 06:25 PM

the reason i'm asking is because i have free crappy-seat tickets left over from last season.
you know, the game that had to be stopped to let the gophers play.
i'm from iowa, and that left me seriously p.o.
but i got free tickets out of it all, so i'm coming back.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:31 PM

oh, crap. i can't go to baltimore. man, this sucks. ok, the royals or the tigers?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:32 PM

By the way, Brian, Kafumbly and I had some extra time this past weekend, and stopped by NYC, but you weren't home.

What up, dawg?

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 06:33 PM

the seats in the upper ga aren't that bad if you sit in 212-214.

I was mad about that game, too, because I had plans with my mom the next day and couldn't come back to see the end.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 06:33 PM

herald - I'm definitely interested in the June 18th game. It would be a blast.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 06:33 PM

Balitmore, especially if it is in Baltimore. I love going to Yankees games in Baltimore

Posted by: mike at May 31, 2005 06:33 PM

I was quite perturbed about that game, and I wasn't even in attendance. Seriously, how low-class is having to cut a game short so an overrated college football team can play?

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 06:35 PM

Heraldguy - I was SO home.
Well, I was at work.
I moved this weekend. Maybe you went to the wrong house.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 06:36 PM

That must be it...

Maybe next time.

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 06:36 PM

I guess I'd say see the Tigers over the Royals. I mean, its good to see a win, but its nice to see a challenge, too... :)

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 06:36 PM

You should come out when the play the Wankeys. Laurie and I are planning to get as many batlings together as we can to go cheer (and honestly, the more of us there are, the less likely we are to get the piss beat out of us...)

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 06:38 PM

you have a point, brian, but it seems i jinx the twins. i'm fine if i watch the game at a different stadium, but if i go to the dome, the twins always seem to lose. maybe if i go see the royals...

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:40 PM

the wankeys?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:40 PM

aw, New Yorkers don't scare me. I eat New Yorkers for breakfast. and sometimes for a mid-afternoon snack. but usually I have Detroitlings for a snack, because New Yorkers are too filling.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 06:41 PM

Kafumbly, since when did you become Captain Cheeseburger/Nate Robertson/Bob Wickman? :)

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 06:44 PM

Mmmmmmmm...... Detroitlings.............

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 06:44 PM

since Tumbleweed ate them, Nick. :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 06:45 PM

alas, i have no money to fly across country... i'm just a poor white girl from iowa.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 06:47 PM

Hm. Is there any reason that the Doctor isn't in the lineup?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 06:47 PM

huh. is CC a lefty?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 06:48 PM

Baltimore! Go see Baltimore! Definitely go see Baltimore!

*wiggly with love for my teams*

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 06:48 PM

mike--

*raises eyebrow*

You're one of *those* fans, aren't you? One of the ravaging hoardes that invade our stadium and eat all the delicious Boog's and then root for evil, aren't you?

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 06:51 PM

Mr. Cheeseburger is indeed a lefty. And a 6-7, 290 lefty, apparently. Think he's only 290?

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 06:51 PM

Oh. I forgot that Cheeseburger and the Doctor's wrist had already been acquainted. My bad...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 06:51 PM

And I drink all of the Yuengling Lagers too , but I never root for the evil O's

But I will say that Camden Yards is one of the 5 best parks in MLB.

Posted by: mike at May 31, 2005 06:55 PM

mike,

What if the O's were cheery? Would you root for them then?

...

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 06:58 PM

You drink all the Yuengling, too?!? You are indeed strong with the Dark Side.

Though apparently you're a Twins fan. Which means there is still some good in you.

*terribly suspicious and still big into Star Wars metaphors*

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 06:59 PM

my brother is a fanatic about baltimore, too. he hasn't had much to cheer about the past couple of years, though, so he turned his attention to the twins, with whom he isn't disappointed as much.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:01 PM

Is the chairman playing?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:05 PM

Yep, batting right behind Stewie.

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:05 PM

Nevermind, Dazzle just told me....

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:06 PM

I am a Yankees Fan (not the YankeesFan)and a Bat-Girl fan. We will crush the the Twins this weekend :) Let the smack talk begin.

All in the name of fun of course.

Posted by: mike at May 31, 2005 07:07 PM

I just learned something at work. Did you know that a pitcher can get a save with a 5 run lead if he comes in with the bases loaded?

Also, a pitcher automatically qualifies for a save if he pitches 3 innings no matter the score.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:07 PM

*cough*KevinBrown*cough*

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:08 PM

lineup:

Stewie LF
Chairman C
Luke Fordwalker DH
Crawdaddy 1B
Spiderman CF
JJ RF
DJ Cuddles 3B
Li'l Nicky 2B
GTX SS

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:09 PM

Actually, it's all right, Yankees fans. I have an honest question -- who are you rooting for in this Boston-Baltimore series?

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:09 PM

aw, no Aaron F'ing Boone tonight. darn.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:09 PM

No, AFB's batting 8th, isn't he? At least according to Yahoo...

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:10 PM

late change.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:10 PM

um...does anybody else think it's just wrong that carl pohlard is gonna be in the twins hall of fame? i mean, i know he was owner when the twins won the world series twice, but still...
i really don't think he should get credit for that.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:10 PM

yes, kierra, I was thinking the same thing. it makes me sick.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:11 PM

Fordwalker's favorite website:

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:12 PM

why is juan castro called GTX? am i missing something here?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:13 PM

Ouch. Gonzalez comes up lame in his first AB.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:15 PM

like the motor oil, sorta... Castro(l) GTX

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:15 PM

Well, aside from Hafner being pesky, that was delightfully Jackal-ish.

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:16 PM

Nick,

Would that be the crappy at-bat, or did he actually get hurt, ala Darth Thomas?

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:16 PM

You never like to see an opponent get hurt, but in re: Juan Gonzalez: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You get what you pay for, Cleveland.

AFLAC!

Posted by: RonDavis at May 31, 2005 07:16 PM

I'm not sure I have the patience to wait for the Grocery Store Wars to load. dial-up is infuriating. I may have to wait until I'm at work tomorrow to see it.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:17 PM

MK: He was hurt. He hit a chopper to DJ, and came up lame on his way to first (he never made it).

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:17 PM

Thanks, RD, for answering my question.

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:17 PM

couldnt have happened to a better guy

Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 31, 2005 07:18 PM

he re-injured his hamstring halfway to first.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:18 PM

Stewie looked safe to me... Damn you all, umps!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:18 PM

(And you too Nick, though RD got to it first--it's almost as if he was commenting seperately or something!)

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:19 PM

I was so looking forward to Juan Gone in RF, just for pure entertainment value. I feel cheated.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:19 PM

ahh...it's all so clear now.
thanx, kafumbly

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:19 PM

Looks like Aaron F'ing was a last-minute scratch, though Dick and Bert didn't know why.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:19 PM

Gonzalez=Thomas?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:20 PM

LEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

first hit of the game for the Twins.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:21 PM

LLEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!
i like the way gardy has the new lineup.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:21 PM

You know, I'm developing a genuine dislike for the Captain.

Until he allowed that. LEEEWWW!

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:21 PM

And we didn't even have to jinx Cheeseburger into submission this time...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:21 PM

Did you see that the Chairman is 5th in allstar voting? Hunter and JJ are on the list, too.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:22 PM

Every time I see CC and his stupid cap, I just want to strangle him. That pisses me off way more than his comments about hating the Twins, or anything else.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:22 PM

A distant fifth among AL catchers? I think that's a little ridiculous.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:24 PM

I'm surprised no team makes CC adjust his cap. If they can make Arthur Rhodes take out his earrings (which they did a couple years ago when he was with Seattle), I don't see why they can't make Cheeseburger wear his cap straight. I would do it just to tick him off, if nothing else.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:25 PM

I'm not liking this... c'mon, Jackal.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:27 PM

C'mon, Jackal. You're better than this.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:27 PM

oh, this sucks.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:27 PM

Well, the Chairman is awfully young and not well known outside of the Central Division. And Varitek and Pudge are awfully well-established veterans. I think it's a pretty impressive accomplishment to make it onto the list.

Dammit, Jackal, you stop this right now.

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:27 PM

"I don't see why they can't make Cheeseburger wear his cap straight."

Ah, but whoever makes that suggestion is in grave danger of being eaten. Not the way I'd want to go out.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 07:28 PM

c'mon, jackal. let's get through this with the minimal damage.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:30 PM

LOCATION!!! please...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:31 PM

hooray! nice DP.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:33 PM

There we go, Jackal.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:33 PM

i voted twenty-five times for the all-star team. all twins, of course.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:34 PM

And on the 2-4 pitch, the Jackal induces the DP.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:34 PM

and did you write in Little Nicky, kierra?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:34 PM

*heaves a sigh of relief*

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:35 PM

All Twins? Did you vote for Rivas?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:35 PM

and then my sister gave me permission to vote with her name too, so i did that twenty-five times too.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:35 PM

i voted for rivas, and i wrote in LNP for shortstop. and i wrote in stewie, of course.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:36 PM

Yay! 50 votes for Rivas! (Including mine.)

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 07:37 PM

There's my BF, gettin' on base.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 07:37 PM

Why do you need to write in Stewart?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:37 PM

nice hit, JJ!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:38 PM

I think the All-Star voting is more of a farce than ever, whatwith opening the balloting two or three weeks into the season. I would throw out any ballots cast before June 1 and start over. Give Kierra 50 new votes.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:38 PM

So, am I the only one lame enough to read the entire gamethread if I'm not able to be online during the game?

I have way too much time at work...

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:38 PM

he was on the list?
i didn't see him. oops.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:39 PM

Franorama,

Amen to that. I've been waiting to submit my 25 ballots. Of course, the AL side will be all Twins, but I want to see who deserves the honor over on the NL side.

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:40 PM

Vote Resto in the NL

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:40 PM

no, NY-Brian, I try to read it all, too. :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:40 PM

Franorama, NOOOOO!! i was so sick of it by the time i was finished. my computer was slow, and it took FOREVER! please don't make me do it over! (although i bet i convince my little brother to let me vote for him...)

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:41 PM

Walka, walka, walka!

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 07:41 PM

and DJ coaxes a walk. good eye, Cuddles.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:41 PM

Nice AB by DJ. Let's get him, boys!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:42 PM

Brian,

You're not the only one, even though I have Gameday running--just none of the fun a/v stuff that would also go with it.

But I'll be flying up to Minnesota for a four-day weekend, so I'll be able to watch the boys just like everyone else (and I'll be at the game on Sunday). A brief repreive...

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:42 PM

of course, i am willing to endure anything for my twins, so i guess if i had to do it over, i would.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:43 PM

Hmmm. Do I vote for Cuddy or Koskie?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:43 PM

Coaching visit to the mound? What's up? Cheeseburger eat too much?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:43 PM

Yay, Castro!!!!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:44 PM

and GTX comes up in the clutch again! YAHOO!

2-run hit... and he ends up on third! nice on DJ for knocking the ball from the catcher!

that was nice. wish I could be there to see it in person.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:44 PM

We got a lead....and Cheeseburger don't got one.....

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

HEY. None of that, Captain Cheeseburger.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

Have to say, I'm becoming a GTX believer - he's been impressive in all phases since taking over as the starter.

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

Wheeee!

I may be going to Arizona next week to watch Our Fair Lads play the D'backs at BOB.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

YEEEESSSS!!!!

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

And here I was about to mention that TWO-HITTERS are pretty rare things, especially shutouts.

Go Go Not-Fidel!

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

hey, my buddy Mike is going to AZ and CA for those series.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:45 PM

OK, we count kierra's ballots...but toss the rest of them.

I would admit to reading missed game threads at work, but I wouldn't want to suggest that anyone here does stuff that isn't classified as work at work.

And to you folks who were in Toronto...what do the woman/women behind home plate do there? Are they just serving water/beer/etc. to the people in the expensive seats? I have often wondered that when watching the Jays on Extra Innings.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:46 PM

Neat!

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:46 PM

shwa, Fran?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:47 PM

vote for Cuddles, brian. Koskos will probably have broken something else by the time the all-star game rolls around.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 07:47 PM

kierra,

Koskos has already broken his thumb, as a reminder to never get on CarrieIC's bad side.

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:48 PM

"hey, my buddy Mike is going to AZ and CA for those series."

Cool! There might be just as many, if not more, Twins fans there than D'backs fans. And I've also been told many times that it's a beautiful ballpark (cough).

If I am able to go, I will certainly file a report upon my return.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 07:49 PM

Whenever the Jays are on TV, there are always at least one, sometimes more, women right behind home plate. They move around a lot, appear to be waitresses or vendors or some such for the people in box seats. At least that's what it seems like to me, but I was just wondering if anyone can confirm that or just what the heck they do? They have a good view of the game, for sure.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 07:49 PM

yes, Fran, you must file a report! :)

I didn't see any women behind home plate. sorry! I can't help with that one.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:51 PM

The Jackal needs to get his pitches down.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:52 PM

oh, whoops... QJW with the report. heh

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:52 PM

OMG. A walk?!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:52 PM

Well, he shouldn't'a stole El Presidente's mojo!

*squelches guilt*

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:53 PM

Fran,

No idea, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Jays hire 'ballpark babes' for the benefit of their corporate customers; they probably just serve refreshments and stuff a-la Hooters (any idea how they're dressed?), but again, I don't really know.

At the risk of seeming like a b***-smoocher, the only 'ballpark babes' we need around here are Batlings.

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 07:53 PM

Was that deliberate? The Jackal didn't just walk someone, did he?

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 07:53 PM

Carlos... how 'bout some control? yeah, that would be fun.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:54 PM

He did. :( The world just turned on its side...

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 07:54 PM

CarrieIC,

I realize you didn't mean to hurt Koskos.

MK

Also, is the Jackal a little off tonight or is he getting squeezed by the umpire?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 07:54 PM

thank you, Jackal.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:54 PM

MK - he's a little off so far.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:55 PM

and sometimes way off.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:55 PM

Kafumbly, I was trying to give some deference to our best starter so far this season. :)

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 07:56 PM

okay, why are we watching a nose-wiping of children? ew.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:56 PM

oh, Lew almost had that one beat! argh.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 07:59 PM

Oh, bloody hell. That was not a good pitch. Sigh.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:02 PM

ASS CRAP!

Broussard with a HR. bitch.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:02 PM

Oops. Gordo barely got his mouth to the microphone before that one was gone.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:02 PM

URGGGGHHH!! no, jackal, that is NOT cool.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:02 PM

Argh.

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 08:03 PM

speaking of gordo, i'm glad he's announcing again. herb corneil (i don't think that's how you spell it, but i don't feel like getting my program) has the dryest voice ever.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:04 PM

>it wouldn't surprise me if the Jays hire 'ballpark babes' for the benefit of their corporate customers; they probably just serve refreshments and stuff a-la Hooters (any idea how they're dressed?)

That's probably what they do--they seem to be 'babes' but dressed more business-like than Hooters' waitresses.

I'm just surprised that no one else has noticed them. They stand right behind the home plate wall and get lots of camera time during TV games. Kind of hard to miss, like Bob Casey was when he was in that cubbyhole in past seasons at the dome.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:05 PM

Herb's close to being Methuselan, so his voice doesn't have the strength it once did. If you can work around the dryness, listen carefully to him and you will truly be able to picture the game in your mind's eye. He's magnificent.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:07 PM

hooray Torii with a single! way to go!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:08 PM

all right, torii! that's how a good bf is supposed to act! now, lil' sweetcheeks, see what torii did? do that, ok?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:08 PM

I like this inning:)

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:09 PM

so he was good when he was young? ALL RIGHT, JJ!

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:09 PM

Boyfriend's 2 for 2 tonight.

He misses me when they're on the road.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:09 PM

Way to send the psychic messages, kierra ;)

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 08:10 PM

oh, DJ.

DP bad.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:10 PM

Argh. It happened again. I'm yelling "BUNT!" at my TV, we don't, and it's a GIDP. How utterly predictable...

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:10 PM

DAMN! Spoke too soon!

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:11 PM

no, no, DJ. that's NOT what we do (well, we do, but we're not SUPPOSED to).

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:11 PM

*moans* Oh, DJ...

Posted by: CarrieIC at May 31, 2005 08:11 PM

I used to like this inning...

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 08:11 PM

okay, they MUST bunt on CC tonight. they've got to make that tubby bastard get off the mound.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:11 PM

Good point, kafumbly. I wasn't even thinking about that when I yelled for them to bunt. Ugh.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:12 PM

OJW, so herb was good when he was young?

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:13 PM

Oh my goodness, kierra, yes he was.

JMO, of course, and some of it might be purely sentimental on my part. Herb's voice on the radio is one of the few things that's never changed.

With Herb, I never have to wonder which inning we're in, what the score is, who's in the batter's box, who's pitching, who's on base, and what the count is, and I never have to know where he went for dinner the night before.

With Gordo and Dazzle, I have to wonder about all the baseball matters far too often for my tastes.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:13 PM

QJW, i'm so sorry. i meant to type QJW...

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:13 PM

bunts piss him off, and then he starts to do really stupid things, and we'll blow him away.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:14 PM

Herb is 82 and a Hall-of-Fame broadcaster. He was good when he was young and is still better than most.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:14 PM

"QJW, i'm so sorry. i meant to type QJW..."

Zat's OK!

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:15 PM

aw, Crawdaddy. crap.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:15 PM

it's okay, we'll just induce a DP here...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:16 PM

QJW: i never knew... but you have to admit, compared to other radio announcers, gordo has one of the most expressive voices in baseball.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:16 PM

Its not just you. Herb IS baseball. I love listening to him call the game. Of course, I like that they switch it up, too.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 08:16 PM

"Big (Craw)Daddy?"

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:16 PM

I'm still too pissed about the non-bunt/GIDP that I'm not even very perturbed with LeRoy.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:16 PM

NICE! woohoo, way to go, boys!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:17 PM

But that beauty of a DP makes me feel a bit better.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:17 PM

that was a very pretty DP. I really liked that.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:17 PM

alright! nice DP, guys! see, you're supposed to TURN them, not hit into them!

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:17 PM

Castro + Punto = WONDERFUL DP!!!!!!!

I prefer Doc at 1B.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:18 PM

Stacy,

I'm sure Gardy does too. And if it weren't for the Pitcher-Gardy-Must-Not-Name, he'd be in there...

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 08:19 PM

QJW: i never knew... but you have to admit, compared to other radio announcers, gordo has one of the most expressive voices in baseball.

kierra, I agree. It's a great radio voice, rich and almost musical. Not to be unsympathetic to his situation, but it's that it seems he has the attention span of a gnat that bothers me.

And the Jackal induces another GIDP.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:20 PM

we all do, Stacy; we all do.

Gardy doesn't like to put the Doc in when Captain Cheeseburger is pitching.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:20 PM

Nice throw, Captain!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:22 PM

Oh, that's SO cute! Cleveland still thinks they can contend. Awwww...

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:22 PM

YAHOO! way to go, Joe! nice to get CC off the mound and panicking! hahahahahaha!!!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:22 PM

You see, that's what happens when you make Cheesey move!

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 08:23 PM

THAT is why we should bunt against this guy, too.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:23 PM

He musta had gravy on his hand and the ball slipped.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:23 PM

joe is so cute when he gets on base...

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:23 PM

HA!

Mauer: THAT WAS FOR YOU, DOCTOR!!

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:23 PM

QJW, i guess that's never really bugged me, probably because i don't have that long of an attention span myself.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:24 PM

aw, crap.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:25 PM

Crap?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 08:26 PM

Damn damn damn.

Posted by: Shaun at May 31, 2005 08:26 PM

everytime, cap. cheeseburger pulls down his shirt, yanks up his pants, and manages to squeeze out of the inning.
c'mon guys! he's only as tough as you think he is!

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:27 PM

yes. crap. Lew broke his bat and was out at first.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:27 PM

Somebody needs to call into Gardy's radio show and ask why we don't bunt more against this guy.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:27 PM

Gardy talks about it, but then they never DO IT. infuriating.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:28 PM

Juan Castro rules. Wow.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:29 PM

GTX kicks so much ass! damn, I love that guy.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:29 PM

Castro is a walking webgem

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:29 PM

very nice play, GTX.

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:29 PM

so Broussard is 2-for-2 tonight, huh?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:30 PM

I understand that it's very difficult to collect hits in three consecutive at-bats.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:30 PM

heh heh heh... yes, it is.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:31 PM

SHIT!!!!

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:32 PM

oh ... &^%$^%#%^^&*&*%&*%^&%

and *^&%^*%&$ and *&^%$^%$^&!!!!

AND ASS CRAP!!!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:32 PM

Why, Jackal? Why do you keep leaving pitches in such sweet positions (for them)?

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:32 PM

Victor has bad hair.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:33 PM

isn't it supposed to be DIFFICULT for lefties to hit off a right-handed pitcher?!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:33 PM

I can't understand why the Twins have such a hard time with Cleveland...they aren't that great.

Posted by: Shaun at May 31, 2005 08:34 PM

Horseshit. Kick some ass, Gardy. Give him all the hell you possibly can.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:34 PM

i have to depart, my fellow batlings. please jinx everybody who needs to be jinxed for me, and please kick the twins' butts into high gear and tell them they absolutely MUST win.
love ya,
kierra

Posted by: kierra at May 31, 2005 08:34 PM

Home Plate Umpie is having a bad hair day.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:34 PM

Take care, kierra!

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 08:35 PM

Gardy should've stayed out there longer, and maybe kicked some dirt on the ump.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:35 PM

OK, radio only: who just got tossed? Gardy or CC?

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:35 PM

home plate umpie is a bitch ass from hell.

why do the Twins get the short end of the stick in these situations? it's just stupid.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:36 PM

Oh, come on! Intentional, my ass! Jackal's not trying to bean anybody, HR or no HR.

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 08:36 PM

If he was trying to hit him, why wait until the third pitch of the at-bat?

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:36 PM

Nah, kicking dirt on the ump just gets you suspended.

MLB just needs to get a clue. Warn both teams, it's not that difficult.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:37 PM

That was pure BS. That's all I have to say on this matter.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:37 PM

Gardy. Silva was on the mound, a pitch got away from him and sailed toward Gerut's head, and the ump only warned the Twins... NOT the Indians. if CC were to do that, it would be BOTH benches warned. but not if it's a Twin. NO. makes no sense.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:37 PM

Why is it that they throw at our guys, both get warned...we "throw" at a guy and only we get warned?

I swear...MLB just wants to build a feud here. Gardy most likely now will get fined and suspended or nothing.

The umps are stupid, and each time i see this I keep seeing Darth Selig sitting in his Death Star going "Good...good."

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 08:38 PM

kafumbly,

Sounds like Gardy was in the right there. If the umps are supposed to be warning both benches about head-hunting, then they need to be warning *both* benches. Maybe the ump was gunning for Gardy?

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 08:39 PM

Let's hope this fires up the boys. Win it for Gardy!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:40 PM

That's no way to support your Manager or Pitcher after the BS they've just been put through.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 08:40 PM

I hate to be a consiracy theorist, but it sure as hell seems that way sometimes. Twins always get shafted with warnings to the benches.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:41 PM

Of course they are MK. They always pick on Gardy. If you look at the Twins stats, I think we've BEEN hit twice as many times as we've hit somebody.

They LOVE to pick on Gardy. It's the same reason he never gets Manager of the Year. Heck, it's already Ozzie Guienn's...no matter how many times he makes a stupid move like the one yesterday against LAAAAAAA.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 08:42 PM

Welllllll, considering that when Stew got drilled by Jason Davis a couple of games ago, both benches were warned, I see no reason why the Indians weren't warned. And the Twins were so worried about a cheeseburger upside the head this inning that they weren't concentrating and went 1-2-2....Stupid Umps

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:42 PM

shit. back-to-back singles.

and there's Banjo warming up.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:44 PM

Just out of curiosity, but has anyone ever seen a pitchout that worked? I don't think I ever have.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:44 PM

Thanks, kafumbly. I meant "Gardy or Silva."

Agree about the conspiracy thing. It seems we always get it when it's the Toons.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 08:44 PM

Hey, coming in late. On the radio it sounded like Eric Wedge was arguing with the ump after Gardy got kicked out. What was that?

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:44 PM

I love you, LNP.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:45 PM

Katharriet--I didn't Wedge leave his seat during that fiasco.

Oh, and GTX and LNP make a nice three letter DP combo.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:46 PM

dunno, kath. I was too busy fuming about the warning thing.

WOOO! nice play, Little Nicky!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:46 PM

I really, really, really love you, LNP. REALLY!

Posted by: Katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:46 PM

WOW!!! DU DU DU...DU DU DU. Can you say LNP Web gem?

(oh and that's supposed to be the Sportscenter theme)

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:47 PM

I totally got that, TBird! nicely done. ;-)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:48 PM

Now maybe the bats can wake up and send this thing to extra innings like every other freaking game against the Toons...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 08:48 PM

KICK ASS, DJ! woooo! double for DJ!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:49 PM

kath, Wedge was probably bitching to the ump that the Twins should be forced to forfeit. And knowing this ump, he probably was considering it ;)

That...or was reminding him that he's not warned, so Cleveland will throw a few head hunters our way.

And WOW...we may not be winning right now, but at least our middle infield is making efforts to have an exciting game.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 08:49 PM

Attaway, Cuddy!!

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 08:49 PM

WAHOO, CUDDY!

TBird-- weird. I wonder what Gordo and Dazzle were on. Or what I was....

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:49 PM

or maybe the bats can wake up so we can just win this in 9 innings.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:50 PM

The official scorer is in a generous mood. My third baseman has to make that play.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:51 PM

I'm sorry, kafumbly, baseball games still take only nine innings? Somehow, given the games lately, I thought they'd changed that rule...;)

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:51 PM

And yeah, LNP had better at least get ONE Web Gem. Heck, right now Castro and LNP are building their own reel.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 08:51 PM

good job, GTX! got the run. just one more to tie. we can do that.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:51 PM

People in Chicago, take note. *This* is what all the cool kids call "smallball".

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 08:52 PM

How bout a nice little bomb by Stewie right here?

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:53 PM

c'mon, Stewie... victory is yours, remember?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:53 PM

*blink* Noticed how LAAAAAAAAA seem to be matching our score? 4-2 earlier, now 4-3, BitchSox leading.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:53 PM

I guess he doesn't.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:53 PM

katharriet, I heard the same thing. Dazzle thought Wedge was agreeing with Gardy. Not sure why they made that assumption, though.

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 08:54 PM

Twink-- Glad it wasn't just me! Who knows, maybe Wedge wants his pitchers free to hit batters? Maybe I'm being cynical.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 08:55 PM

is Hafner 2-for-2 tonight?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:56 PM

Add up the production of Morneau, and LeCroy the past dozen games: compare the results to what Castro {a well known career non hitter} has done in the same period of time. The Twins have no all stars who don't pitch. Al

Posted by: al at May 31, 2005 08:57 PM

oh, LeCroy. he's gotta be pissed.

dear, please don't do that again.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 08:57 PM

Here comes Terry the Toon Killer!

And wow, LeCroy is absolutely horrible in the field.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:57 PM

Well, it just doesn't make sense for Wedge to come out and argue the call out of the goodness of his heart. When do managers ever come out to argue with the ump against their own teams? "Gee, sir, I think you should have warned us too!"

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 08:58 PM

I think Gardy got what he wanted...if CC or any other Toon is dumb enough to throw at a Twin the rest of the night and he doesn't get tossed immediately, then half the Minnesota dugout will get ejected and the umps will have a mess and a half on their hands.

If the ump has a clue, the warning without a warning is in effect.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 08:58 PM

Dear Doctor,

I really miss you.

Love,
Stacy

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 08:58 PM

Hey everyone! In honor of his slick fielding and 2-run double, I give you an interesting bit of knowledge about our current SS. Click my name below to see :)

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 08:59 PM

Oh, Al, you make me laugh, all glass-half-empty and stuff. I got halfway through your post thinking, "Gosh, what a weirdly unexpected find Castro's turned out to be, then!"

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 09:00 PM

...and Pat Borders is Seattle's everyday catcher. wow.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 09:00 PM

Well, to be honest Fran, I kind of want that to happen. Not one of those stupid mill around brawls, but a knock down brawl that'll settle this stupid bean ball war. Kinda like the one between the Bitch Sox and the Twins that Darth Selig and his minions didn't let us see (thank God for Batgirl's intrepid reporting)

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:00 PM

OH. MY. GOD. that was brilliant.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

What? What?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

OK, can we officially call it Nicky and Juan's Flying Circus?

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

and i mean the DP. :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

I love you, GTX. I love you, LNP.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

GTX to LNP for the DP. And they've all been tough plays that the 3 lettered ones made look easy. Wow.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:01 PM

Nicky & Juan's Flying Circus?

I like the sound of that...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:02 PM

GTX to LNP for DP on a pitch thrown by OMM.

Posted by: QJW at May 31, 2005 09:03 PM

Broussard looks like he has to pee. "hurry up and pitch it, I gotta take a leak!"

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:03 PM

DMW-- That sounds entirely appropriate.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:03 PM

p.s. kafumbly, did you get that GTX from me, or did we have convergent nicknaming brilliance?

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:03 PM

Not me, T-Bird. That just leads to suspensions and injuries that a contending team doesn't need. It only helps the inferior team and it won't settle the war, it is more likely to make it worse.

All that needs to happen is for the umpires to do their job.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:03 PM

Let's see, that four DPs tonight for the Flying Circus. Nice...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:04 PM

no, sacky, you are the genius. :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:05 PM

kafumbly:

stop it, my head will splode

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:05 PM

also, I would like to predict an extra-inning game

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:06 PM

the Doc has a bat in his hands! and his gloves are on!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:06 PM

Stacy--

And Borders hit his first home run since 1999 over the weekend.

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 09:07 PM

Just got home and took a while to read the thread, so now I'm all caught up.

C'mon Leeeeewwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:07 PM

WHY DID HE SWING AT THAT?!

Lew.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:07 PM

*narrowing eyes* That is NOT how my boyfriends are supposed to behave, Lew.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:07 PM

Oh, c'mon, LeRoy. You've GOT to be able to get something out of this.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:08 PM

As large as CC is, doesn't his uniform look overly baggy?

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:08 PM

and a walk to Crawdaddy... just one more run, Twins... just one...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:09 PM

that's not CC's uniform, it's one of the clubhouse laundry bags.

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:10 PM

Torii's due... overdue...

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:10 PM

Well. A runner. And Torii.

Well. Well, well, well. What are you going to do about this, Torii? H'mmmmm?

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:10 PM

goes with the hat... at least the pants aren't hanging off his ass.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:11 PM

I'm in an unusually greedy mood, I want two runs and then three outs in the 9th.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:11 PM

genius sacky...

Now we just need a home run. Or two doubles...Oh wait, they put in Rivas to run for 'Ol Leroy. That means we only need one double or two singles to get that run.

Course a bomb and an appearance by the VP would be cool too.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:11 PM

Oh, thank god. I hate it when I have to run. Torii, do me a favor and hit a 2-run homer now, kay?

Posted by: Big LeRoy at May 31, 2005 09:12 PM

Remember when Torii threw the ball back at the pitcher after he was drilled? That was cool.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:12 PM

At this point, I'm hoping for anything good. A walk, a single, a dropped ball, a homer, a double-- it does not matter. Just something GOOD.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:12 PM

Franorama,

That's not greedy. Not greedy at all...

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:13 PM

I'm too afraid to ask for too much all at once.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:13 PM

Aw, hell and death.

Bass-carp.

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:15 PM

not the pop-up... the throwing the ball back at the pitcher.

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:15 PM

>I'm in an unusually greedy mood, I want two runs and then three outs in the 9th.

Let me reverse that.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:15 PM

oh, this is interesting with the lineup...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:16 PM

argh. a walk.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:17 PM

Again, I ask: is there something wrong with the Doctor?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:17 PM

saving him for a pinch hit.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:18 PM

Hey, don't try to steal GTX from me!!! That sucker was mine!! Check the archives!!

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:19 PM

Missed it...

Who's on first?

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:19 PM

Is there something different the Indians do that leads to them having so many fat pitchers? You know, the Twins focus on not walking hitters, the Indians focus on fried food. The Twins teach their pitchers change ups, the Indians teach them how to compete in speed eating contests. Hmmmm....

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:19 PM

no, Who's on second.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:19 PM

No, What's on second.

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

heraldguy,

DJ Cuddles is on first. The Flying Circus has shifted left and Li'l Rod is manning second now.

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

I thought Who was on first, and What was on second.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

Let me think about that for a moment...yeah, that's strike three.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

And why burn Rivas by bringing in Rodriguez to play second? Sure, the kid's good, but now you make it hard to pinch-hit Morneau in the ninth unless you're sure you can win.

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

Victor Martinez is on first. Who's on-- oh, see kafumbly's answer.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:20 PM

And here I was, playing it straight, no matter the temptation to go full-on Abbott and Costello...

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:21 PM

Boo-ya! Tumbleweed sends her love, dear. kick some butt, eh?

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:21 PM

Oy gevalt...

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:21 PM

DMW--what's the order in the 9th for the Twins?

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:22 PM

BOO BERRY!

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 09:22 PM

ooh, Laurie, it's an intellectual property war! Lemme check.

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:22 PM

Rivas has back issues right now.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:22 PM

And Idunno's on third?

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 09:23 PM

Halos have tied up the Bitch Sox...ground rule double by Ersty, single by GA.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

K!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

K

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

That's the good Boo!

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

They train them to run faster by holding out McDonald's food at each base. It was Sabathia's idea.

How do you think he got the nickname ;)

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

Shouldn't it be a "B" instead of a K?

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

Jones, Cuddyer, and Punto, with Castro batting if anybody gets on.

If Rod is still on the bench, you can pinch hit for any of the last three. I guess you can still pinch-hit for any of them now.

Oh, right, forgot - I think we still have Tiffee on the bench too. Never mind...

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:24 PM

Boo K's two! Or are those B's?

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 09:25 PM

That was a reply to TBird. Took longer than I thought to get posted...

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:25 PM

Another wide load warming up...

Too bad David Letterman already gave the moniker "Fat Tub of Goo" to Terry Forster...

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:25 PM

okay, let's win this for Boo, boys!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:26 PM

Good appearance, Boo!!!

That's what you get for shaking my hand

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:26 PM

Okay-- if LAAAAAAAAA can do it in their game, we can do it in ours. C'mon, guys!

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:26 PM

If we gave Boo "B"s instead of "K"s, wouldn't people be confused if he had an even number of Bs?

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:26 PM

Thanks DMW. My bet is the Dr. hits for LNP, and if the Twins get that run across, he'd go to first in the 9th, w/ Cuddyer @ 3B, GTX at SS and the Rook at 2B

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:26 PM

Herald,

I thought Charlie Kerfeld was the fat tub of goo?

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:27 PM

Boooooooooooooooooooo! Or, I mean, Yaaaaaaaaay, Boo!

Posted by: twink at May 31, 2005 09:27 PM

Laurie: I found my first mention of GTX here:

http://www.bat-girl.com/archives/000763.php#comments

I assure you I didn't mean to take credit if you mentioned it earlier! But either way, it's an awesome nickname. Great minds think alike.

--sacky

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:28 PM

Did he do it twice?

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:28 PM

Makes sense, TBird.

Of course, ideally we won't have to go to extra innings - somebody, probably Young Hickory, will end it happily in the 9th.

(And I'm not using Dr. because I don't want Morneau's nickname to become ironically appropriate, like Darth Thomas's more usual nickname.)

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:28 PM

*dons underwear hat*

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:28 PM

Ew, Wickman is gross.

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 09:29 PM

whoops, then... Laurie, you're the genius! :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:29 PM

Dearest Sacky... Jame Thread, May 21st, 9:49 pm. Read it and weep.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:29 PM

Nah, Terry Forster was the bucket of goo before Kerfeld was even a large blip on the radar.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:29 PM

You know, that Wickman guy, he sure has a lot of saves. Another save would sure be an accomplishment, don't you think?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:30 PM

Ugh. What a sad swing that was.

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 09:30 PM

*sigh*

And Wickman is a LARGE man. I wonder if we can get a post game Sumo match between the Cleveland opener and closer. ;)

After our victory of course.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:30 PM

Laurie thought of it first. I was there. I remember saying something like it at the same time. :)

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:30 PM

Arg. Arg, arg, and arg.

COME ON, LNP! It's BOD TIME!

Please?

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

these boys are making me sad.

LNP, please make me happy.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

From http://www.kfan.com/otherside/tuesdaytally/21704.html

TERRY FORSTER
The gluttonous closer made national headlines in 1985 when, as a member of the Atlanta Braves, he was called a “fat tub of goo” by David Letterman. Forster was out of baseball a year later.

COME ON, LNP!!!!!!

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

Herald,

My bad - I misremembered it. Forster is the original and best FToG.

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

He really does have a lot of saves. I'm impressed. Have you noticed all those saves he has? I have.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

Darn, Sacky. And me and Brian thought it was the silliest nickname ever the night we collaborated on it. I liked that about it, the stupidity of it.

I needed some cheering up tonight. I haven't been able to move since Saturday. :-(

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

I SEE THE DOC!

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

Sorry guys, check out the game thread on April 12. Me, GTX, we were both there.

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:31 PM

hmmm...LNP is coming up. I'd have thought they'd use the Dr. here. I guess they're saving him for the Game Winning 2 run shot.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:32 PM

wow... lotta saves, all right.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:32 PM

Brian don't lie!!!

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:32 PM

I don't care who came up with it first - we both came up with it independently, like I said, great minds think alike.

Now, GO TWINS!!!! PLEASE!

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:32 PM

I LOVE YOU, LITTLE NICKY!

And COME ON, GOOD DOCTOR!!!!!

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:33 PM

Little Nicky, I love you!

Posted by: Tumbleweed at May 31, 2005 09:33 PM

LNPTSH!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Doctor is in the house!!!!!!

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:33 PM

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:33 PM

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:33 PM

Don't do that Morneau! We don't need a long ball for now...just get Punto in with a solid hit.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:34 PM

Way to go, LNP of Nicky & Juan's Flying Circus!

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:34 PM

LNP keeps it alive.

Doc, time to finally hit another HR!!!

Posted by: Shaun at May 31, 2005 09:34 PM

Wickman has a LOT of saves. LOTS.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:34 PM

When did I lie?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:34 PM

*biting nails*

Nice hustle, LNP.

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:35 PM

wow, that was close...

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:35 PM

Thank god for the Toronto series...looks like we're up for three more days of Drama.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:35 PM

Ok, that's just ridiculous. That nickname was doubly invented! It's like separate time lines converging! Lew Fordwalker would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO into this....

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:36 PM

THESE PRETZELS ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY!

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:36 PM

You know, I've noticed that, too. All of Wickman's saves, I mean. MAN, that's impressive, isn't it? My my, that is a LOT of saves....

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:36 PM

What a lot of saves that fat man has!

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:36 PM

Well, finished the fingernails...on to the TOES.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:37 PM

You realize if Morneau walks, Stewart comes up?

That's not bad. Not bad at all.

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:37 PM

jeez, i'm gonna puke

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:37 PM

BLAST!!!!!

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

argh. and now the bastard has one more.

DAMN IT! ASSCRAP DAMNIT CRAP!

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

One more bowl of that General Mills cereal.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

Oh, red hell and death. GODDAMNIT. GODDAMNIT ALL.

Oh, hey... still time to run to Dairy Queen....

Posted by: katharriet at May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

Crap

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

Bass-carp.

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:39 PM

Laurie, is your back still immobilizing you?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:39 PM

He hit it 390....Problem was that fence is 408. Dammit

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:39 PM

sigh. back to work.

goodnight all!

Posted by: sacky at May 31, 2005 09:39 PM

And tragically now...the lead is RIGHT back to 5.

FREAKIN' ANGELS..oh, and Twins...darn you and your assbats in the clutch.

Posted by: Torhu at May 31, 2005 09:39 PM

Well, that sucked.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:40 PM

Nice try Doc, but damnit I hate losing to the Indians.

Posted by: Shaun at May 31, 2005 09:40 PM

Well, only a trip across the street to my favorite bar could cheer me up. Let's see...no work tomorrow....no classes....I think I'll go. I love summer.

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 09:40 PM

At least Gardy gave me a little amusement tonight.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:41 PM

later, sacky.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:41 PM

Laurie,

Yep, Gardy was fun tonight. As was the Flying Circus.

MK

Posted by: mk at May 31, 2005 09:42 PM

What a crap night, baseball-wise. A Twins loss and a Mets loss. Sorry, did I say Mets loss? I meant Mets HUMILIATION.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:43 PM

I love the Flying Circus, of both the Monty and the LNP/GTX varieties.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:43 PM

(Still wondering when I was lying...?)

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:43 PM

The lead is not back to 5, or at least not yet...the Angels and Bitch Sox are 4-4, headed to the bottom of the 9th at US Bitchular.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:44 PM

Nice try Doc, but damnit I hate losing to the Indians.

Posted by: Shaun at May 31, 2005 09:45 PM

Kansas City is up 5-3 over the Yankees in the bottom of the 7th. :)

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:46 PM

I'm quite the bitter kitten tonight. Don't mind me. I have spent FOUR DAYS cooped up and in pain. And those nasty Met fans are really giving it to our Dougie. Idiots. The poor thing, he's thin as a rail these days.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:46 PM

Damn Bitch Sox

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:47 PM

Hell, now the lead is 5. Jermaine "Why Don't You Bitch Sox Just" Dye with the leadoff, walkoff, other off I am too polite to say.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:47 PM

aw, hell. Bitch Sox hit a walk-off.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:47 PM

Even after the homer this weekend? I thought that would buy him some leeway...

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:47 PM

No leeway. They just suck. They compensate for their own miserable lives by abusing the players. Some fans. Believe me, I know them. They delight in abusing these guys. Dougie looks like a wreck.

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:50 PM

Take care, folks - I've got to roll.

Anybody going out to the Dome for dollar dog night tomorrow?

Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 31, 2005 09:50 PM

>Kansas City is up 5-3 over the Yankees in the bottom of the 7th.

Not going to watch that. I have seen the Royals bullpen a few times too many already this season.

Posted by: Franorama at May 31, 2005 09:51 PM

Dougie has always taken his slumps hard, poor guy.

Can we send him a care package?

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:51 PM

Tuesday night -

Time for nine ball and a pint of Guinness

Hasta manana, peeps

Posted by: heraldguy at May 31, 2005 09:51 PM

ooh, I should, DMW. I also still have my student ID that doesn't have an expiration date, and I still look like my picture...

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:51 PM

I can't sit up anymore. This is miserable. I have to go too. :-(

Posted by: LaurieNY at May 31, 2005 09:52 PM

Take care, Laurie.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:52 PM

aw, Laurie, I hope you feel better soon.

Posted by: kafumbly at May 31, 2005 09:54 PM

Aw asscrap. I feel like poo now.

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 09:58 PM

Awwww...Dougie needs his MN fans now :(

Posted by: Stacy at May 31, 2005 10:03 PM

Posted by: NY-Brian at May 31, 2005 10:07 PM

Posted by: tribe fan at May 31, 2005 10:09 PM

I don't suppose there's an email address at which we can reach Dougie. I'd certainly like to offer my support. :(

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 10:09 PM

Nick, I'm sure if you send it via the Mets' website, in the "contact us" thinger, they'll give it to him if it's nice.

and Kansas City beat the Yankees 5-3! HA!

(sorry, YankeeFan and mike... but I can't like them just 'cause of you guys.)

"Just out of curiosity, but has anyone ever seen a pitchout that worked? I don't think I ever have."

Posted by: TBird41 at May 31, 2005 08:44 PM

I realize everybody else is long gone, but I was just catching up on the game thread and saw this. TBird! It's something I've wondered for a long time! I've been watching baseball for longer than Terry Mulholland's been alive, and I can't remember EVER seeing someone get thrown out on a pitchout. It must be the single most futile move in baseball. Why do they do that?

Smitty

Posted by: Word Smith at May 31, 2005 10:49 PM

WS, I just stopped in for a second before bed. I have actually seen a pitchout work on a few occasions. Wasn't Cuddy caught stealing on a pitchout just the other day?

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 10:57 PM

Oh, and I just noticed this in the Strib article. Like I said before, BUNT!! (Then it was, Why the hell aren't we bunting??)

"But Sabathia did peer into the Twins dugout at times and appeared to say something to Punto in the fourth after he squared around to bunt."

Posted by: Nick at May 31, 2005 11:03 PM
