Stacy's Mom has got it going on.

How about adding girlfriend t-shirts?

Like...

Michael Restovich's wife's friend is my girlfriend.

Or how about: "Corey Koskie was my boyfriend."

Dearest Batgirl,

Thanks a million. That will make my mom's day, lol. She can put in her order now. I have already put in my order (couldn't decide between Mauer or Morneau for boyfriend shirts, so I just got them both as well as a Don't blame me shirt).

Thanks again so much!

Off topic:
This is in the Star Tribune today in an article about signing players to multi-year contracts:
http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/5308101.html

"A lot of times, neither side doesn't feel like they want to get burned," Twins General Manager Terry Ryan said.

Huh???

You know you've made it when you've got a cartoon caricature of yourself on a pair of thong panties.

Posted by: el diablo at March 23, 2005 12:30 PM

Okay, I know I have probably shared enough today, but I can't keep it in any longer, so here goes:

Different things have meaning to different people. That is the real beauty of art, literature, music, etc. They all mean something (or nothing) to everyone.

I tell you this because the new Santana/Nathan buttons mean something different to me than they probably mean to the rest of you.

I assume you blue-staters read the button and feel as though it is a knock on George Dubya Bush's reelection to four more years of destroying America. I understand that, and it makes me smile. In fact, that is the second thing that pops into my mind when I read those beautiful t-shirts, bumper stickers and pins (oh my!).

The first thing that pops into my mind is that in 2004, for the first time in my lifetime and in almost certainly EVERYONE's lifetime (at least counting those people that are still alive today) something happened that Santana/Nathan could probably have prevented.

Yes folks, the YankeeFan is talking about the Red Sox winning the World Series again. At least I had y'all listening that long, feel free to tune out, but you'll miss the best part.*

So I read the "Don't blame me" slogan and think that it is a statement to the world that it is not my fault the Red Sox won the WS, my vote was with Santana/Nathan. Of course, that was true most of the time (ALDS excluded) but I still feel it is a strong statement for the world to make.

So I implore you: buy more! Wear it out and wear it out! (hopefully someone other than me gets the point of that last sentence). We need to let the nation (and the Nation) know that we had no part in it, and we will attempt to thwart anyone in our paths (ALDS excluded).

YankeeFan
* I lied, there was no best part, deal with it :)

Posted by: YankeeFan at March 23, 2005 01:20 PM

ummmm...I'm not really sure how to react to that YF. I don't think I want to join the Yankees in solidarity against the Red Sox. Actually, I know I don't want to be associated with any cause the Yankees are. So, while I applaud your effort to corrupt the loyal followers of America's team, you won't be able to bring us to the dark side. (Though, I will admit-Boston fans have been insufferable since their teams won the WS and Super Bowl.)

Posted by: TBird41 at March 23, 2005 02:50 PM

TBird,

After re-reading my post, I see where you might have thought I was trying to covert everyone over to the "dark side" (as you so colorfully put it(or is that colorlessly because darkness is simply the absence of light...oh forget it)).

Just to clarify, when I said "we" I meant everyone who does not root for the Red Sox. It is why I felt the need to qualify the "we" statement(s) with "ALDS excluded" -- I just assume the Yanks and Twins will meet in the ALDS again (and I can't wait for it).

Please excuse the apparent trasgression. I meant no harm, nor disrespect to any team, including the Red Sox. I just wanted to implore everyone (fans of every team, and Republicans and Democrats alike, that is) to display the "Don't blame me" gear proudly, as a show of solidarity...that we will not let this happen to us again. Remember the insufferable fans...for if you do not remember, you will be doomed to a life not to forget...

11 days left until sanity breaks through the murky clouds.

If Santana/Nathan had been in position to prevent the Red Sox championship, that would have meant the Twins beating New York in the ALDS. Surely, Yankee Fan could not have been rooting for that outcome all along, could he? (Wait... I see the parenthetical "ALDS excluded" aside, so what kind of con is my slick big city friend trying to pull here?!?)

Of course it was the Yankees who stood in the way of the Red Sox bandwagon, and choked on the moment like GWB with a handful of pretzels, so if we really feel upset about the Sox breaking the Curse--why shouldn't we blame the Yankees and their fans? A-ha!

Posted by: frightwig at March 23, 2005 03:35 PM

"Remember the insufferable fans...for if you do not remember, you will be doomed to a life not to forget..."

I probably should have mentioned that I find most Yankees fans to be as bad, if not worse than Sox Fans. (YF, you are not included in that blanket statement). That, and while the Sox fans became insufferable after their win, I didn't mind them winning it (that way they'd stop whining). Though I agree with you that people everywhere should embrace America's team, especially since $200 million (or the Sox' $120 million) can't buy a team that can hit Johan.

Thank you very much bat girl for the shirt! Any color will do!

If you want to post my expose on the bad mug shots that are sweeping through baseball you can.

Posted by: Bojangles Crain at March 23, 2005 04:04 PM

Could it be just a regular shirt not in junior sizes....I'm a full figured girl. Thank you very much

Posted by: Bojangles Crain at March 23, 2005 04:07 PM

I give up. I never asked anyone to embrace the Yankees, just asked people to "remember the alamo" by buying buttons and bumper stickers and shirts. You'd think I got a piece of the action...that would be a good con. Honestly, I was rooting for the Twins up to and until they collided with the Yanks, I thought they were going to beat the Yanks, and I would have rooted for them had they beaten the Yanks (first time I would ever root for a team that ousted mine out of the playoffs). There. It is in writing (if it already wasn't back before the ALDS).

As for "America's Team" it is funny you should mention that, as I am completing an analysis of why the Twins are America's Team. Although it is devoid of any talent or creativity, when it is done I will likely post it here.

Go Yanks!*

I would hope that if the November elections had swung the other way, "The Don't Blame Me" merch would be just as available. All the batlings must accept that our preferred candidate didn't win, and that while perhaps the second choice of the majority of Batlings (Schilling/Ankle '04) won, the second choice ticket of a significant minority (Pujols/Edmonds, or [shudder] Matsui/Rivera) lost.

I understand what YF is talking about. See '02. If I was going to root for any team other than the hometown 9, It was going to be Anaheim. Unfortunately, they had to play through us.

Posted by: amr at March 23, 2005 05:26 PM

YF,

That is a stretch! Really. And other than you, I find most Yankee fans to be boorish and overbearing. I rooted for the BoSox in the ALCS and the WS.

Sorry YF. :D

Posted by: talldrinkowater at March 23, 2005 05:38 PM

I got my shirt and hoodie in the mail today:-D

BatGirl, you rock for making this stuff! :-D

Posted by: Candace at March 23, 2005 06:12 PM

YF seems to be ok, when he's not complaining about the "big market" meanie Redsox.

The rest of the MFY kingdom is boorish and a little uckstupish. I guess that happens when you don't have to worry about money. Or a farm system. :)

The rule should be, if you've won a WS in the last 10 years, you don't get to complain.

Posted by: drake33 at March 23, 2005 06:32 PM

I dunno. I'm finding the Red Sox Nation to be as unlikable as any other fans. Ok, maybe it's just the Red Sox themselves. I'm starting to grow really weary of seeing everywhere.

And in this crowd, Yankee Fan, it's pretty much a sure thing that SOMEone other than the author is going to get just about anything written here. Obscure references and clever word play, hell, even usage discussions are all fair game here. So, yeah, I got it.

Posted by: mmmarkiep at March 23, 2005 06:41 PM

Uh oh, I think drake needs to point me to some of my complaints about the "'big market' meanie Redsox." (unless that was tongue-in-cheek, in which case, nevermind).

Funny how you associate different things with different 'names' on here. You all associate me with boorish fans, and I associate Pepper with a catchy jungle, Candance with Full House, amr with American Airlines, etc.

Unfortunately, this is probably the worst time to let you know my association with drake33, since you just called me out. Now keeping in mind I didn't make it up...

...does anyone remember the Seinfeld episode... "I hate the Drake" "hate the Drake."

Oh well,
YankeeFan

P.S. BatGirl reminds me of everyone except Yvonne Craig.

Posted by: YankeeFan at March 23, 2005 08:04 PM

I think this is a case of misunderstanding...See, YF, we don't hate you, (in fact, I like you, based on your contributions to this site) but we (or at least I) hate your team and have for a looong time. So while the Red Sox and their fans have become pretty annoying, it's a new way of being annoying (and one that can't be answered with a quick 1918 or "you know what was cool? Watching the Twins win the WS").

But trying to rally Twins fans against the Red Sox won't work. We don't care that they won, b/c that part was out of our teams control, b/c once again we were beaten (albet barely) by the Yankees.

So yeah, I will wear my "don't blame me" paraphenalia with pride, and I understand what you meant by "solidarity" but the problem is, your vote wasn't with Santana/Nathan--it was with Matsui/Rivera, or even worse, Jeter/Slap-Rod (remember, you only get one vote). And in the end, I was just messing with you.

That, and Batgirl....I mean Annie Ursu, wrote a very compelling piece of ESPN.com explaining why the Twins were America's team. Then again, I would still love to read your thoughts on why the Twins are as well.

Posted by: TBird41 at March 23, 2005 08:31 PM

Dearest Everyone,

Now, now. YF was NOT trying to rally us against the Red Sox and I believe Drake's tongue was firmly in cheek. Now can we get back to what's really important--discussing the fine quality and wonder of Batgirl's merchandise?

Love,
BG

Batgirl - Is that *real* hand-stitching I see on those fine Batgirl-branded t-shirts?

Posted by: Skorch at March 23, 2005 09:33 PM

As someone constantly surrounded by Red Sox fans, I can assure you all that they were insufferable before the World Series. Now they are even worse.

On another note, YF, you do realize that the Yankees are now cursed, right? Let's see, last World Series win was 2000. What drastic thing happened between 2000 and the 2001 World Series? That's right - the Curse of God Bless America. God is spiting Steinbrenner for trying to convert patriotism into Yankee fandom. Frankly, I think that His decision is just since Steinbrenner's motives were so unpure.

If the Yankees would stop forcing ten-minute versions of GBA down everyone's throat, watch the World Series championships return to the Bronx.

Batgirl is correct. My tounge IS firmly in cheek...

Posted by: Drake33 at March 24, 2005 12:18 AM

If Will is correct, could the Twins be hampered in the postseason by our use of Greenwood's "Proud 2B N American"?

(What, Prince didn't write it?)

Before we move completely on to other and more important things, I feel the need to acknowledge a lovely piece of writing:

Very nice YankeeFan. That was good for a guffaw.

Posted by: Pepper at March 24, 2005 07:36 AM

Damn, that didn't work. I was referring to YankeeFan's legal disclaimer to his statement, "Go Yanks."

Posted by: Pepper at March 24, 2005 07:40 AM

Thank you BG, with all my heart. I looooooooove my shirt, and I don't even have it yet.

Posted by: Sasha at March 25, 2005 11:18 PM

I came back to work today after some much needed time off to find my amazingly awesome "Justin Morneau is my boyfriend shirt" in my mailbox. I can't wait to wear it and I can't wait to order my Kent Hrbek one.

Thanks BG!!
