Posted by Batgirl at January 30, 2005 12:12 AMOh man. That thing was kind of scary!
Posted by: Sam at January 30, 2005 12:36 AM(The TC mosh pit, that is)
Posted by: Sam at January 30, 2005 12:36 AMIt kept jiggling!
Posted by: Goober at January 30, 2005 12:37 AMMan, I wish I could go to Twins Fest. Oh well, at least I get first dibs on spring training.
Posted by: Fatt SlobCroy at January 30, 2005 12:14 PMWill Batgirl make the trip to spring training with She-Ra? I'll be awaiting her arrival.
Posted by: insider at January 30, 2005 12:27 PMinsider - the way her battiness is looking at me, I'd say the chances are slim. ;-)
At the pic itself, I'll add "EEK!"
And also - I'm officially ga-ga over Grant Balfour. He spoke tons of Australian. He smelled manly and delightful. Wonder Woman and I swooned. Picture forthcoming.
Twinsfest ROCKS!
Posted by: She-Ra, P.O.P. at January 30, 2005 01:17 PMShe-Ra, it looks like you just won the Scripps-Howard TwinsFest Spelling Bee. Perhaps Batgirl is scowling because she got tripped up by the word "coccyx" in the final round. (Sentence? "Corey Koskie has suffered nearly every sports injury known to the Twins medical staff, but they can't recall him ever hurting his coccyx.") Keep studying, Batgirl. Better luck next year!
Posted by: frightwig at January 30, 2005 03:52 PMShe-ra and Donnalove -
I DID it!! I didn't chicken out - got my picture taken with my beloved Boo - goodness he made my knees weak - that all I could say was Hi Juan - how are you - and he said in a dreamy - sexy cool voice - that he was doing well - and I told him he had lovely teeth he got his braces removed- talk about Geekiness on my part - see I told you he made me all weak;-)
Bat-girl sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you - I don't do photographs - I tend to break the lenses.
Yup - Grant Balfour is quite the handsome fellow -and he smells wonderful - and I fit snuggly under his arm pit - he's extremely friendly - and funny - and yup a guy with an accent is delicious.
Thanks She-ra for flaggin' him down - I'm glad we could get him to 'talk' Australian - for awhile
Nick - is well he is a hottie so hot that She-ra and I chickened out on asking him for a picture -
And Michael Ryan is just the sweetest thing in the world - came even tho he was under the weather - plus he's a cutie too -
SHE- RE please don't send my picture - please!!
Cover me up and send Grant!!
Ohhh - Kyle was feeling a bit sad when some youngsters skipped him and went right to Cuddy - for autographs - poor Kyle ;-(
Ok - blabbed enough - sorry about that Batgirl!
Much Love -
Wonder Woman
Sorry - PS -
Thank you to all the Twins that wished me a Happy Birthday - it was fabulous ;-)
She-ra I think the tiara was a dead give away ;-)
Oh Love Grant even more for being kind and guessing I was only 21 ;-)
Much Love
Wonder Woman
B.G., please allow no ingesting of Mr. punto during the 2005 season. Canabalism is a real problem in our society, and we do not need our leaders encouraging it. Eating people is just plain wrong dammit.Give Donner a pass. Love, Al
Posted by: al at January 30, 2005 06:37 PMYay for Twinsfest! AJ and I got to meet Tony Oliva (YAY!!!!!!!) Harmon Killebrew (a true gentleman) and Joe Nathan. Joe didn't have too much to say to us, even though I was WEARING MY SANTANA/NATHAN '04 TSHIRT!!!!!!! But he is SO HOT. Oh my god. SO HOT!
We did see She-Ra, Wonder Woman, Insider, and Mr. Insider. But we did not see Bat-Girl, Jeb, Sooz, or Goober. As we were rookies for TwinsFest, we were unaware of many things. Next year, we'll be prepared. We've already started mapping out a strategy.
AND I'm happy to report that the UMD Bulldogs were VICTORIOUS last night at Mariucci Arena. I guess there was a little voice in the back of their heads screaming at them to "SHOOT THE PUCK!" among other things. That little voice was, of course, me screaming my lungs out from the top of the stands. If anything, at least Doug Woog heard me. And the police, too, because they were standing behind me for a good half the game.
I love hockey, but I can't WAIT for BASEBALL either!
Posted by: Donnalove at January 30, 2005 07:21 PMI forgot to add that those who don't know of the hotness that is J.D. Durbin, should really check it out. His picture on the twins website isn't so good...but I chased him across the field on Friday and got a picture with him--so ladies if you'd like to see it--let me know. He is the nicest guy--and told me he'd be looking for me in a Durbin jersey in the spring. Followed by a wink. Enough said.
I'm not afraid to say he should DEFINITELY be in ANY name that butt contest!!!
I also auditioned to sing the National Anthem...if I make it--what shall I wear? My Santana/Nathan 04 shirt? My Torii jersey? or my new Durbin jersey?
Seeing as I plan on running to the outfield right after I sing and jumping on Torii, maybe i should go with the #48....
Meghan, I for one would love to see a picture of the hotness that is JD Durbin! And you got a wink? I'm jealous. :)
I didn't get a chance to meet any of the players yesterday, but I love reading all of the stories. I've met LeCroy a few times during Spring Training, and one of my fondest memories (besides meeting the hometown hotness that is Joe Mauer and smelling him ...) came last year when I asked him to sign something for me. I was wearing a WWJD bracelet and he asked me if I would ever ask Jesus to sign my program. I can't even remember what I said, because I was so surprised. I think I stuttered.
And I was at the T-Wolves game today, and I swear I saw a Kyle look-alike. He walked in right before tip-off and my mom and I stared at him as he was walking trying to figure out if it might have been him. Either way, very easy on the eyes ...
Posted by: Christy at January 30, 2005 09:38 PMMeghan,
I too would love to see the photo of young Mr. Durbin.
From your description, it sounds like he just may be the "real deal" after all...or at least he thinks he is!!
I would love to see any and all Twinsfest photos from any and all Batlings. Please feel free to e-mail them to me. I wasn't able to attend, so my hope is that a picture is worth not only a thousand words, but truly will be the next best thing to being there.

Whoa, Meghan! Now I'm really jealous. ;) That's a great picture, and he definitely looks like the Real Deal to me. Thanks for sharing!
Posted by: Christy at January 30, 2005 10:06 PMMeghan, cool picture, and you're oh so hot yourself!
Posted by: insider at January 30, 2005 11:03 PMMeghan! That pic is AWESOME!!
Posted by: Stacy at January 30, 2005 11:07 PMAWESOME pic Meghan!! Very lucky! :)
Posted by: Sam at January 30, 2005 11:56 PMDear Insider:
You are too kind.
But if what you say is true, and J.D. is 'oh so hot', then through the use of deductive reasoning (I think), I can come to the conclusion that we would be one 'oh so hot' couple!! :) I hope Torii doesn't get jealous!
Sincerely,
Meghan
p.s. I'm glad you all like the picture!!
Posted by: Meghan at January 31, 2005 12:21 AMI was there Saturday as well--to the Batling who started her question on the WCCO interview of Lew Ford with, "First of all, I love you..." Thanks for making Lew blush--I didn't think it was possible to make him even cuter, but you did it!
Beth
Who is all happy because she has Michael Cuddyer's autograph!
Well, TwinsFest just wasn't the same without Koskie. Although I think I saw more of it than usual, since I wasn't following Corey around all the time!
But, as though the Baseball Gods deemed me worthy of consolation, I had a very special, albeit brief, Boo moment. Got up to him at the autograph station about 45 minutes into the session, and he's got that hi-you're-the-thousandth-person-I've-had-to-deal-with-today-and-I-think-my-hand-is-falling-off smile (which all the guys seem to have by Sunday) permanently etched on his face.
Ah, but then his eyes drop to the #39 on the front of my (most beloved and treasured, game-used) Boo jersey. That's when the REAL smile came out, just for me! You'd think he'd never seen someone wearing one of his jerseys before. And yes, he really does look nice without the braces.
Oh, yeah, and I made Nick Punto laugh. That was kind of cool. All and all, a good Twinsfest, despite the lack of Koskieness.
Posted by: infield at January 31, 2005 09:25 AMSomeone admired my campaign shirt so I turned around to show him the web address. He read the slogan out loud and sounded a little surprised. Of course, he read it as "Less stats, more ASS." lol

Here are my stories and pictures:) Once I have the other pictures, I'll try to get those up:)
This was my very first time at TwinsFest and it was...completely freakin' awesome!!!
P.S. BatGirl, did you get those pictures I sent to you via e-mail?
Posted by: Candace at January 31, 2005 10:04 AM"Mauer Death Strip" is, indeed, hilarious.
Posted by: Jeb at January 31, 2005 11:25 AMI went on Sunday. I saw TwinsGoddess, but I was in line for home opener tickets. I managed to yell out her name but .. who could hear in there? I was with a 4 year old with the remnants of a cold so there was no autograph line waiting for me. But, it's fun to go with a kid. There was face painting, and mosh pit jumping, and (her favorite) getting her picture taken with TC. She loved it so much she did it twice. Someday, though, I'm going to take a folding chair and spend whatever time I have to spend to get Mr. Killebrew to autograph a photo I have of the two of us. Someday.
I did get some photos of Lew answering questions. I can't help but smile when I see him. He's just one of those guys that you know is an all around good guy. But then, we can probably say that about a lot of the Twins and I, for one, am super grateful for that.
Most of my photos from TwinsFest (ok, all of them except for Lew's photos) are of the aforementioned gorgeous 4 year old, so I have nothing to post.
I'm sure I'm going to come down with whatever she was hacking and coughing into the Dome air, but it was worth it. There's something about helping a kid become a baseball fan at that age that is just so very, very satisfying. I'm hoping that it gets me out of a few years of purgatory for some of the other things I've done in my life.
Posted by: mmmarkiep at January 31, 2005 12:06 PMHoly hotties, Batman! Oh, yeah and that JD guy with you is kinda good looking, too.
Posted by: mmmarkiep at January 31, 2005 12:10 PMDearest Mr. mmmmmmmarkiep,
Your whole post warms Batgirl's heart.
Love,
BG
My darling Batgirl,
I'm only too glad to return the favor.
Always,
mmmarkiep
Posted by: mmmarkiep at January 31, 2005 12:49 PMHmm... I look rather... crazed in that picture. I must have still been under the effect of the bloodlust resulting from having my blood type tested (A-Positive for the curious). Batgirl or Jeb, could you e-mail it to me? Thanks.
I've actually got it, Skorch. I'll send it to you tonight.
Posted by: Goober at January 31, 2005 01:03 PMIf JD Durbin weren't a pro baseball player, honestly, I think Meghan would be out of his league.
Looking at the background of the photo, I also can't help but wonder, what is a Bob Feller Museum doing at TwinsFest?
Posted by: frightwig at January 31, 2005 02:35 PM
Mmmarkiep, I'm so sorry I missed you!
DemiGoddess #2, who was at a birthday party on Friday night and therefore missed her opportunity to converse with Johan, was QUITE put out that DemiGoddess #1 did, in fact, appear on the front page of Saturday's STrib sports section. But she nevertheless had a great time on Sunday. Both Demis killed 'em in the Fox broadcast audition booth--I think Demi #2 in particular may just have a career in sports journalism ahead of her--and then she won at Dodge ball, so all was well.
And as if having her photo taken with Johan and appearing in the paper wasn't enough, Demi #1 went and won a Corie Koskie bobblehead at Twingo. Not that I was jealous or anything.
I did get an eyeful of Torii and Jacque as they were signing autographs, but did not feel up to waiting two hours in line in order to acquire said autographs my own self. Just being near them was reward enough for me.
And mmmmm... Dome Dogs...
Posted by: TwinsGoddess at January 31, 2005 02:47 PMMaybe Nick Punto actually volunteers to be swallowed whole to save the rest of the team? Judging by this article, that would seem like something he would do:

but I did REALLY like your pictures.
Posted by: Haplo at January 31, 2005 06:36 PMStacy: Thank you:) It's been my mission to meet Lew Ford for like the last year, so I finally got to do it. And to see my six year old brother's face when he came face to face with Lew was the greatest thing ever. I don't even know how I'm going to react when Lew comes on television now. He's so nice and sweet and adorable...and I think I'll stop gushing now:)
Haplo: Thank you! :) My friends have been teasing me about the picture of me and Lew and the fact that I met him. But, all the money that was spent, all the hours that were spent standing in line....everything....it was all worth it. Completely worth it. And I honestly would do it all over again.
When I get my other pictures, I'm going to try really hard to find a way to put them up on here. Those include Joe Mauer pictures and some more Lew Ford pictures:) And I believe there is a side shot of Kedar's head:) I can't wait to get them! :)
excuse me, but could someone show Meghan's picture? My curiousity is aroused. Longingly, Al

Posted by: Candace at February 2, 2005 05:55 PMI can only imagine that JD Durbin was extremely attractive and i bet Lew was cool...But i had an ultra awesome experience at Twinsfest. Especially with the one and only Jesse Crain... To see my story.... go to my site

Posted by: Bojangles Crain at February 2, 2005 07:17 PMGreat pictures, Candace. Your lil' bro looks like he's having the time of his life and that's awesome. Joe Nathan looks like he's saying "And then, Superman did this up up and away thing like this..." Or else he's throwin' his hands up in the air like he just don't care.
Ms. Bo Crain, you crack me up. Screw you Bud, indeed. Awesome story about that chance meeting with JAC's groomsman. Too bad about Balfour. I'm sure he's heard that a million times but he could have just smiled and nodded a thank you.
Posted by: mmmarkiep at February 2, 2005 11:01 PMThank you:)
Oh, he was having so much fun, he started dictating what we were going to do! :D "After we meet Moo, we have to find TC and then we are going to find Moo and have the pictures taken." Yeah, he calls Lew "Moo"...hehe....But do you think he could have said that to Lew? Nope...he was literally star struck and it was cute:)
