Bitch Sox Bitch

From the Daily Southtown:

The White Sox still took a certain amount of comfort in bowing to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

Yes, the American League Central Division title has all but been conceded to Minnesota for a third consecutive season, as a 10-2 Twins victory the Metrodome just about put the final nail in the Sox coffin.

However, several Sox players said it hurts less knowing that while the Twins are going to the postseason for a third straight season, they also expect their rivals to have a short stay once the playoffs begin.

"I think they keep forgetting that we lost our two best players this year," one Sox player said. "We have Magglio (Ordonez) and Frank (Thomas), we're looking at a different story here.

"That's fine, let them do their talking and clapping and antics on the basepaths. Minnesota has two World Series banners, but not one came from this group of players. They forget that. I'll be glad to sit back and watch them go one and done (in the playoffs). Our season ends Oct. 3 or whatever it is. So they'll get an extra week in before they're done."

The whole article is worth reading. It all pretty much speaks for itself, but Batgirl would like to point out that they couldn't put us away when they did have Mags and Darth and we were in the sucking-time, and also we've lost our best hitters for much of the season as well. The difference is, we have depth. Which is part of being a winning team.

When people ask Batgirl why she loathes the Bitch Sox to the very core of her being, this, my dear, is why.

Thanks to mongo for the heads-up.

I loved in the article how Mark Buehrle complains about Torii talking trash to the Sox, and saying "what reason does he have to do that?" and then paragraphs later, the writer mentions that Torii was beaned in the first inning.

Hunter seemed to be saying something to Garcia as he slowly walked to first, but Garcia didn't hear it.

"If you're going to do something, do it," Garcia said. "Don't (deleted) talk about it."

Good point, Freddy. Kinda like the Bitch Sox and winning the AL Central, huh?

Three words for the chickenpoop Sox player who didn't have the guts to be named and the wimpy-booty writer who let him get away with it:

Sit down, bitches.

What the heck kind of BS is this article?

""I think they keep forgetting that we lost our two best players this year," one Sox player said. "We have Magglio (Ordonez) and Frank (Thomas), we're looking at a different story here."

Yeah, you'd be 11.5 games back...but this time you'd have Frank Thomas as your DH.

"That's fine, let them do their talking and clapping and antics on the basepaths. Minnesota has two World Series banners, but not one came from this group of players. They forget that."

So then...what are all those "Twins Hall of Fame" banners that they hang at the dome? Oh, and how many World Series banners do you have Bitch Sox? I mean from THIS group of people. Hell...from the last CENTURY!

This is the same crap that they spew every year. You know, they can talk all the shit they want...but why don't they actually DO something about it. You know, like WIN?

Posted by: Torhu at September 15, 2004 01:25 PM

What a great article! Classic BitchSox bitching - what whiners. Talk about a bunch of senseless comments….

Yes, maybe none of the current players were on the WS rosters but these ARE the players that have kicked your asses for 3 straight seasons.

And what does Buehrle expect from Hunter? Hey Mark, your little band of underachieving trash talkers IS done. Besides, Chico Garcia just beaned poor Torii – I think he has every right to mouth off a little.

Sit DOWN bitches

Dave

It was reported that Santana felt a bit tired during his outing yesterday. Hmmm...I wonder how much better he could have been with a full nights sleep? Bitch Sox couldn't even get to a sleepy Santana.

Posted by: Brundlefly at September 15, 2004 02:10 PM

It's true that the Twins have two World Series banners, both in our lifetimes, but the Bitch Sox forget that their last World Championship was in 1917! That's the second-longest drought in baseball, second in futility to only the Cubs. It's no wonder they call Chicago America's "Second City"!

Posted by: scott at September 15, 2004 02:49 PM

Pure comedy! After 3 years in a row they have this sore losers thing down pat!

Posted by: Soccerfan at September 15, 2004 02:54 PM

Do Bitch Sox arms detach?

Posted by: scarlic at September 15, 2004 03:10 PM

HA HA HA HA! All one can do is laugh at that! I was screaming right along with Torii when he got the RBI double! OH, AND...WHO CARES if Torii looks into the Bitch Sox dugout? Poor litte Buehrle couldn't handle that? Sit down, bitch! That made me hate the Bitch Sox even more. Thanks, Batgirl:)

GAME DAY RECAP Tuesday, September 14
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240914109

The White Sox were quiet and deflated in the clubhouse afterward.

"We didn't get the breaks," center field Aaron Rowand said.

Bitch, bitch, bitch...
I hope the Twins saw this article today.
It should fire them up for tonight.

Posted by: bubblemint at September 15, 2004 03:30 PM

The full story left one word in my head:

Ewwwwwwwwww.

The White Sox of yore used to be a team full of arrogant jerks who made little kids cry and cursed a lot. Now it's a team of pathetic whiners. I think I preferred the arrogant jerks.

Posted by: arrScott at September 15, 2004 04:08 PM

For me, the inevitable implosion and self-pity party of the WhiteSox has become a kind of baseball tradition. I look forward to them like I look forward to Christmas, or the State Fair. It's as predictable as a second place finish for the BoSox or a first round exit by the A's: WhiteSox talk tough going into big series. Twins sweep series. WhiteSox sulk. It never stops being fun for me. Whee.

It's interesting to go to a forum like http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com and read their comments. They obsess on the Twins, and Torii in particular. It's like going to a foreign country where they have 50-foot murals celebrating tyrants and the menus all have salted yogurt drinks on the menu, but no beer. I can't bring myself to troll, respecting the cultures of even the most backward peoples, but perhaps these fora will inspire a bat-girl blog entry. They are begging to be parodied.

Posted by: kurtis at September 15, 2004 04:27 PM

Almost as bad are the Oakland A's. I heard a player the other day, someone not with the A's anymore, I can't remember who it was. Anyway, he said something about having that same feeling like in 2002 when "we should have won the whole thing. We were the best team in baseball." I just don't understand the whole thing. Let's see, the Twins really, really, really suck. But .. you can't beat them so ... how bad do YOU suck? If we weren't so beat up already, I'd be rooting for a bench clearing brawl.

Posted by: mmmarkiep at September 15, 2004 04:36 PM

Here's another thought:

They say that had they had Thomas and Ordonez it'd be different. Well, Bitch Sox, there's your problem. We lost Hunter, Stewart, Mauer, Coskie, Rivas, Minty (when he was on the team)

And did we lost any ground? Heck no. Why is that? Because Blanco, Ojeda, Prieto, Punto, Tifee, Cuddyer, Offerman, LeCroy, Ford...all stepped in and helped support us.

So what should the Sox learn? Get a damn Farm System that works. And don't trade your best prospects for two guys that you didn't bother to resign in Free Agency!

If you can't support yourself in a time of injury, that's your own fault. That's what a bench and farm system are for.

We've probably get one of the best benches in the game. Honestly, most teams lose a guy like Hunter or Mauer in their lineup and go belly up until he gets back. We actually stayed the same. And when they got back, our bench was all the more stronger for the experience they had gotten.

Let me sum it up for you. "If had played for then would not have happened and would have found the Bitch Sox in ."

At least Curses and and the like give the team something to fight against. Admitting something as stupid as that whole article claims...that only makes you look defeatist. *Whine* "You're players didn't get injured!" *whine some more*

Posted by: Torhu (yeah, again) at September 15, 2004 04:56 PM

From WSI:

"The Sox always play better when the pressure's off."

Why would that help here? The Sox's are 11.5 back, and are looking at an E# of 8. How is that a no-pressure situation?

Man, those fans really just don't get it.

Posted by: *shakes head* at September 15, 2004 05:03 PM

Hahaha. I wonder if they forgot they're 11.5 games back? Maybe then they wouldn't be saying 'I'd rather our season end early than going to the [freaking] playoffs.'

Posted by: Sam at September 15, 2004 05:27 PM

As I am in the land of the Bitch Sox for school I got to watch the game last night and hear hawk an dj's analysis of the Twins. I give you a somewhat direct quote.

"The Sox have given the Twins a lot of help, and they've taken advantage of it, which they always seem to do."

And..

"The Twins are definitely the better team when the heat is on."

Almost rational, non-whining thoughts. We'll see what they come up with tonight

Posted by: Serial Thrilla at September 15, 2004 05:28 PM

Let's see...

Since the All-Star break, the White Sox offense ranks 4th in the league with 5.07 rpg (the Twins are 10th with 4.95 rpg). Meanwhile, Chicago pitching since the break is 13th in the league with a 5.39 ERA (the Twins pitching tops the league in the 2nd half with a 3.61 ERA).

So what's the problem? FRANK AND MAGGLIO HAVE BEEN HURT!!!! Oh, of course. That makes perfect sense.

Posted by: frightwig at September 15, 2004 05:32 PM

OK, I'm done lurking. I'd like to be a batling.

Part of building a good team is having a team that either doesn't get injured (Hello, Frank Thomas has been one of the most consistently injured players for the past 4 years! And you're counting on him to be there in September???) or that has the depth the Twins do (kudos Torhu, you're right about the depth and the farm system). Plus, is a half season of Thomas + Magglio worth 11.5 games? I doubt it.

Bitchy. Bitchy. Bitchy. Sit down. Your team sucks.

Posted by: domofo at September 15, 2004 06:18 PM

I almost thought Guillen was talkin' sense because his first quote is about the Twins taking advantage of mistakes, and the Santanimal making bitches sit down. Of course, then he got in line with Bitch Sox philosophy and said Freddie Garcia pitched well (5 earned runs in 5.1 innings).

Posted by: lubberhopper at September 15, 2004 09:14 PM

Actually, Garcia did pitch very well, before it all fell apart. (And he was not helped by his defense.) He wasn't bad in a Kyle Lohse way (pitching on the brink of disaster for 5 innings before it finally catches up with you), but bad in a Radke-on-a-bad-day way (unhittable for 5 innings and then suddenly uh-oh).

Posted by: Word Smith at September 15, 2004 10:15 PM

I don't understand, do the Bitch Sox not understand simple numbers? 3 straight division titles is greater than 0. 12.5 game lead is larger equal to, but opposite of a 12.5 game deficit. And I think this is the first time I have ever heard of a professional sports team being happy they won't be going to the post-season. Isn't that why you play? They must like losing down there in Chicago...

Posted by: HotFuss at September 15, 2004 10:53 PM

I admit, I do read the White Sox boards, White Sox Interactive and Sox Talk just to see the fans implode. It's like watching a train wreck.

Posted by: Mimiru at September 15, 2004 11:41 PM

That was one of the most morbidly fascinating articles I've ever read. What planet are these people on? I have a couple of friends who have the misfortune to be Bitch Sox fans, and I'm not sure I can even get them to explain it. Wacky, wacky folk down there in Chi-town. Maybe the wind affects their ability to count, or to field the damn ball.

Posted by: Anita at September 16, 2004 08:38 AM

I have posted comments here on a few occassions. I am a Sox fan but enjoy reading this site because it is quite witty and amusing and seeing implosions my whole life it is much like self-depricating humor. I have to say that the southtown article was very dissapointing to read. It is a shame that my team often falls on the crutch of injuries or bad luck. The injuries didnt help but our pitching killed us in the second half. The team has no depth, on the bench or in the minors. It is a sad situation in Chicago. I am quite afraid of when this team will be competitive again and hoping the offseason will be a complete overhaul and change of attitude. I am sick of hearing everyone say the Sox are the better team on paper. The Twins are a better team period. I hate saying it but it is true. Cant say I wish you guys luck in the postseason but I highly doubt it will be a sweep. Your pitching is at least good enough to win a couple games I think. My only criticism is that if you really look at whitesoxinteractive.com I think you will find that at least half of the posters almost seem to enjoy the Sox doing poorly and criticize the team harsher then anyone else. Anyway, I am almost hoping for embarrasment agains the Twins for the rest of the year to force an overhaul of our crappy team.

Check out this great response to those children in the Bitch Sox dugout:

http://www.hardballtimes.com/daily/article/trash-talking-from-second-place-again/

Posted by: Mark Schoen at September 16, 2004 12:40 PM

You know, I the people that really suffer for all this are Sox fans like Gogo59fox. I mean, some Sox fans jump on the Even-though-you're-kicking-our-ass-we're-a-better-team-than-you bandwagon. The rest would probably just be happy to see their team shut up and play some real baseball. Here's hoping the Sox get a team of quiet, competent ball players to make the division exciting again.

Hmm. Maybe it's a big city mentality. No sense making your own, you can buy whatever you need.

Posted by: mmmarkiep at September 16, 2004 02:15 PM

Actually, if you REALLY REALLY read WSI carefully, you'll see that in fact most of the time, all Sox fans do is obsess over that OTHER team from up North that we play only 6 meaningless times a year.

Posted by: Ilk at September 16, 2004 03:02 PM

Ilk is correct. I read WSI a lot, and lurked there for the better part of two seasons before registering. There's quite a mix of fans there. It's true, there is a pretty strong anti-Cub sentiment going there (and I have to admit, I've been tainted by their arguments in that regard, good work WSI). Anti-Cub solidarity aside there's a pretty big mix of fans. Some make wildly childish accusations, but there's usually another one that seems to step in and point out what an ass they've made of themself.

What I hate seeing over there, though, is Twins fans rubbing Sox fans noses in the mediocrity of their team. I came across a thread earlier today where some Twins trolls had created some havoc (righteously getting themselves banned in the process). I posted a quick apology for whatever they'd said (their posts were deleted and re-edited by a mod to humorous anti-Twin effect by the time I got there). That stuff makes us look like classless boobs. They don't need that ammunition, a lot of them think we're big enough jerks the way it is.

I don't think it was anybody from here, I just wanted to vent is all and saw the perfect opportunity. Carry on.

Posted by: Skorch at September 16, 2004 04:27 PM

Hee – from the article linked above:

“Oh, and one other thing: The Twins won more playoff games last season (one) than the White Sox have won in the last decade (zero).”

Good point.

Posted by: Cathy at September 16, 2004 04:35 PM

It's also ironic that Buehrle should be predicting "one and done" for the Twins, with any air of superiority, considering that is just what the ChiSox did in Buehrle's only playoff experience back in 2000, when the Mariners swept them. (Of course, they whined about the glare in Safeco Field for Game 3, and that Carlos Guillen's series-winning suicide squeeze bunt should have been called an out. His foot was out of the box, yo! Heh, heh, heh.)

I'd also like to point out that the Twins are about to win as many division titles in the last three seasons as the Chicago White Sox have won since the advent of division play. (I am not counting 1994.) Each time the South Siders have won their division ('83, '93, 2000): one and done, baby.

Posted by: frightwig at September 16, 2004 05:33 PM

I've never actually posted to WSI, Skorch. I find it mildly interesting to read, but I'm not the sort to pour salt in someone's wounds.

I do know think I know the guys you are talking about, though I didn't see the fracas. I think it's rather childish to ban posters and change their posts just because they're trolling. The Twins forum I frequent gets regular trolls, and we usually have fun with them.

Posted by: Kurtis at September 16, 2004 09:42 PM

Yes, I do have to admit we do an awful lot of obsessing over the Cubs in Chicago. It is kind of a rule, love one, hate the other. I think the past decade has been the worst witht he Cubs acheiving prominence at first for no reason, and now because they hav had a legitamately decent/good team for the past two year. We get slapped around or ignored but the local media, realtively ignored byt he national media when good. Although I have to admit that the Twins basically get zilch coverage nationally when a team in any other division would be heralded for the Twins accomplishment. So in that respect I feel bad for you guys. Santana has been incredible this year and the fact he gets no play at all is a shame. Anyway, sucks for us now, it is obvious my team has no intention of winning another game this year, so congrats and your third consecutive Division Title.

Posted by: gogo59fox at September 17, 2004 05:51 AM

One of the "trolling" posts was as follows:

> When's the last time the Twins won a playoff series?

2002. How about the Sox?

It takes a mighty thin skin to consider that trolling.
