gotta say the Doc was pretty damn good tonight.

Posted by: Lynnie at April 28, 2007 03:15 PM

Well thanks be to the baseball gods for today! Lovely to see everyone getting hits!

Posted by: Spacey Stacey at April 28, 2007 03:17 PM

This sure don't look like the first trip to Detroit last year, do it?

Posted by: BD at April 28, 2007 03:18 PM

That was fun to watch. M&M boys with dingers... more interesting baserunning with Cuddles... Torii robbing (cut your damn hair) Ordoņez of a hit... good day.

Five wins in a row and eight of the last 10 versus Detroit dating back to last season.Keep taming those Tiggers.

Here, kitty-kitty -- got some Johan for you tomorrow.

Posted by: Franorama at April 28, 2007 03:22 PM

Well deserved for the good Doctor today... Too bad he wasn't able to leg out a triple to complete the cycle :-)

Posted by: Suds at April 28, 2007 03:23 PM

He totally would have hit a triple if he hadn't of walked in his last AB, so he *practically* hit for the cycle.

Posted by: Kurtis at April 28, 2007 03:24 PM

Wow. I mean, wow.

Everyone (but Casilla, who only had one meaningless at bat, so he doesn't count) had a hit.

Two dingers.

No errors.

Lotsa Pirahnish small-ball smell'em RBI's.

Carlos still hasn't imploded (or exploded - more of a gentle, slow expansion of the mid regions).

The bullpen was everything you could ask them to be.

Cuddy and Rodrigues throwing out Sheffield at the plate.

Here in Grand Forks, it's eighty degrees.

And, best of all, we whooped Detroit - the opposite of last april.

I'll think I'll savor this game like a good beer - shotgun it, whoop it up, dance a fat Irishman-no-rythym-jig, and rub it in to any unfortunate Tigers fans I find.

What a great day.

How did I forget Torii's and Kubel's great catches?

Posted by: angryscott at April 28, 2007 03:30 PM

One word: HOOAH!

Posted by: Dobs at April 28, 2007 03:43 PM

Some good, eh?

Posted by: Piranhtachew at April 28, 2007 04:07 PM

Haha. Niiice....

Posted by: TwinsPrincess at April 28, 2007 04:30 PM

Yes, yes, yes!!! I love it.

Posted by: twin-X at April 28, 2007 05:25 PM

O Canada!
Justin's home and native land!
True BOD love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The home run ball set to the skies!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on deck for thee.

God keep our offense in the mind of thee!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Huzzah for Canada!

This Detroit thing has really been good for the M&M boys. Mauer was BOD yesterday and Morneau today...Two homers in two games...Maybe Detroit was worse than we thought. Wait, no, the Twins are just FREAKIN AWESOME!

Posted by: bailey at April 28, 2007 06:03 PM

tgd's stat freak, Nice.

Click me.

That would be Hunter, move the "T."
Need to sleep, good night.

Posted by: twin-X at April 29, 2007 12:01 AM

I think it was mentioned last year: Keeping pace with Goober is not an easy thing to do. The Doctor always seems to be in the right place at the right time, perhaps because it's *always* the right time to hit the baseball many, many moose antlers away.

Posted by: cubsalot at April 29, 2007 12:43 AM

RIP Hancock
No team should have to go through that (twice in five years in fact) and no person should die so young.

Posted by: Megan at April 29, 2007 11:22 AM

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Jesse Crain is garbage. Great arm, but he's got Kyle Lohse's head on his shoulders. It causes me physical pain to watch him come out onto the field. Ouch. Very ouch.

Posted by: Chris at April 29, 2007 02:59 PM

Chris, you and I are definitely in agreement on Crain. When he came out for a second inning, particularly in a "sudden death" situation, I knew we were screwed...

When will Gardy and Andy figure this out? How many times can we let Crain blow a game before we realize that we're lucky if he gets out of ONE inning without giving up a run, much less TWO innings. I mean, if you make a million dollars on a roll of the dice, is it really smart to go double or nothing on another toss?

Posted by: David at April 29, 2007 03:31 PM

So true, Megan. What a sad story. Condolences for the Cards and their fans.

Posted by: FordHoiberg at April 29, 2007 03:51 PM

Does anyone know when the good Doctor shaved his head?????
Although I'm his biggest fan I must say the bald look?? - not attractive!!

Posted by: Krissy at April 29, 2007 04:17 PM

I'm sorry Krissy, but I don't think I could ever say that Justin is not attractive.

Posted by: melissa at April 29, 2007 08:52 PM

I, too, wish the Cardinal family and the family of young, Mr. Hancock all the best. Death is a hard thing to go through.

Posted by: Bring Back Reboulet at April 29, 2007 09:48 PM

RIP Hancock. Best wishes to all.

In agreement with you all too. I loved Crain a while back (was my baseball boy-friend as a matter of fact) but not any more. It was apparently “conditional” love ;-) Sure I will be happy if he does well one night, and the to be really happy if he stops stinking. But he seems to have a talent for being very good when it doesn't matter and very bad when it does. Lets trade him and bring up Venifro (SP?).
