*Ahem*
*Is this thing on?*
Hello, um, I'm the BODSHC. I'm not really clear how this thing works, but, well, we won today, and I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to do something about it. I'm so dazed by the actual, you know, winning that it's hard to focus on anything else, but with all due shoutouts to the pitching staff and NBP, I'm giving this one to the good doctor for getting the one out single that made you think that maybe it was all going to be okay again. That's what we needed--some reason to hope again--not to mention scoring the winning run, and that gives you, Doctor Morneau, the Boyfriend of the Day.
Goober/ Justin 4, Sooz/Cuddy 2, Readers/Field 2, BabyDash/Bart 1, Batgirl/ Chairman 1, BatCub/Torii 1, Jeb/LNP 1.
Posted by Batgirl at April 26, 2007 04:31 PMWait... are you telling me the Twins won a game? Are they allowed to do that?
Posted by: kurtis at April 26, 2007 04:55 PMYESSSSSS! POR FIN!
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at April 26, 2007 05:10 PMHitting my boyfriend in the mouth with a pitch... why I oughta...
Win. Win. When was the last time I heard that?
Posted by: Shelley at April 26, 2007 05:10 PMFinally, I can say the Twins won in Funoka, Jr.'s lifetime -- b. April 24th, 2007 -- aka Tony, as in Tony-O!
Posted by: funoka at April 26, 2007 05:17 PMThat was the longest. game. ever. The scoreboard was full of Ks and backward Ks but it didn't feel like 13 of them (or whatever number it was) because there was ALWAYS a Royal on Base because we kept walking them there. And the Twins kept going down 1-2-3 and we were so sad.
But then... Justin had a hit and Tyner had a hit and we said - RedDog just CAN'T hit into a Double Play, he just CAN'T! and he didn't! and we won and there is a shining ray of hope again.
RedDog/NBP should get honorable mention for BOD for taking a ball in an unmentionable place that you couldn't see because there was no TV.
PS - Congratulations Funoka on the arrival of Tony!
Posted by: Jaguar at April 26, 2007 05:23 PMWait, Hold up...The Twins ACTUALLY won? No, no, no, no! I must be dreaming! Someone pinch me! finally! It's about time. Oh, NBP should get a congrats too. We actually had some-what of a DH today!
Posted by: Bailey at April 26, 2007 06:15 PMNow this one's a little borderline. Red Dawg gets smacked in the shoulder by a bat, AND delivers the winning RBI after that, without any love?!
At least send him a complimentary bag of ice.
Posted by: Dr. Trivicon at April 26, 2007 06:23 PMI'm kinda PO'd that Torii and Bartleby got hit by pitches, but I'm really happy we won.
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at April 26, 2007 06:24 PMthis is ridiculous! Redmond was robbed! Morneau was 0 for 4 until the last inning and left two men on base!
Posted by: Billy at April 26, 2007 06:27 PMOur long national nightmare is over.
(Please let this mean we can now relax, and stop sucking in two-out RISP situations.)
Posted by: tgd at April 26, 2007 07:01 PMActually, Jaguar, it was on TV - MLB.TV.
You know, if I had a life, I wouldn't have both "Extra Innings" and MLB.TV ....
Posted by: BD at April 26, 2007 07:20 PMWE WWWUIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!
Painful but a W none the less.
Only the twins. (also one of the reasons I like the twins so much)
From twinsbaseball.com:
//Gardenhire appears to be intent on finding numerous ways of getting Casilla in the lineup. He even came up with a unique idea of how to get the talented infielder in the lineup more often.
"With the situation we have with our DH right now, I might just DH him," Gardenhire said with a chuckle, knowing how strange that sounded. "It might get a little speed in there."//
And condolences to Hunter for getting hit in the chops. Will that "clip" (sorry) his hitting streak?
Hey and speaking of streaks Boof "John" Bonser didn't give up a HR for the 1st time in how long?
Posted by: twin-X at April 26, 2007 07:23 PMThe Boof definitely was not on fire, but he "battled" and got his pitches close enough to the strike zone to allow the Royals to flail at them in the right situations. The Twins might as well DH Casilla. He has as many HRs as our other DH possibilities, other than (God forbid) L-Rod.
Posted by: SoCalTwinsfan at April 26, 2007 08:00 PMFirst win in five games and I'm stuck in meetings all afternoon. Nods to the Doctor, Boof, Red Dog, and Bartleby for the F6-6-2 DP.
Posted by: twayn at April 26, 2007 08:01 PMBD, you're trumped.
Extra Innings.
XMRadio (OK, half of that is for music. But only half.)
And MLB.tv.
Yes, we recognize that this is fundamentally sick, and a sign of an over-indulged American populace. And your point?
Posted by: tgd at April 26, 2007 08:12 PMHow dare they pelt Sweetcheeks in the sweetcheek. REVOLUTION!
Posted by: TD at April 26, 2007 08:52 PMCongrats Funoka!
I never realized how much I missed the BOD. That was way to long.... lets never fight again, k?
Love,
the readers
tgd:
Oh, I forgot to mention having the Gameday radio package too .......
Jeez, we're sickos!
Posted by: BD at April 26, 2007 09:26 PMOh Batgirl you know I love ya - but I think I'd have to give NBP the BOD - nothing against the good Doc but =)
Longest game ever not for me - I've sat thru a 18 extra inning game - against Oakland a couple of years back - I stayed for all 18 innings- we lost.
Then there was another super long game against Seattle many many moons ago - I'm just saying 11 inninga that ain't nothing =P
Much Love
WW
Bartleby on getting hit by pitch:
"I would prefer not to."
Posted by: sacky at April 26, 2007 11:15 PMYay for Good Doctors! Mad props again for beat-up back-up catchers.
Dear twin-x: Great question about the hitting streak. Here's what I think (and trust me, I don't much about such things): since he didn't have an official at-bat in the game, his streak is in tact. I hope I'm right.
k-bro
Posted by: k-bro at April 27, 2007 09:08 AMHow 'bout some J-Bart for BOD love. HBP, a single, and nine assists and the key grab on the flare in the 7th, then spinning and firing a laser to end the threat. I think I need some air.
Posted by: SC at April 27, 2007 10:25 AMI agree that NBP was robbed from BOD, especially after playing battered and bruised. But the Good Doctor is as the Good Doctor does, and in this case we must trust the BODSHC to make the right decision - and who can ever argue when the Good Doctor is chosen? Eh?
Posted by: Beth at April 27, 2007 10:29 AMk-bro, thanks, I hope you are right. It seems like it would be a crule way to have it end.
Posted by: twin-X at April 27, 2007 12:32 PMFirst the Reds, Now the Gentry...
Dear rest of the MLB,
Drilling the poop out of Sweetcheeks, Pear King, or ANY other BOD is *NOT* how you select one! :P
Piranhta "How soon may we annex the rest of the Midwest for Twins Territory, again?" Chew.
