Hey, gang. Here's a tip. From Batgirl, to you:
Don't walk Justin Morneau to get to Torii Hunter. You'll just make Torii angry. (And, also, the Boyfriend of the Day....)
Goober/ Justin 3, Sooz/Cuddy 2, BabyDash/Bart 1, Batgirl/ Chairman 1, BatCub/Torii 1, Jeb/LNP 0, Readers/Field 0.
Light blogging this week on account of the 10pm start time and how incredibly sleepy Batgirl is...
Posted by Batgirl at April 17, 2007 11:32 PMBats + pitching = Good stuff.
3 runners on + a home run + Huge smile and a little jump/dance.
That should be = huge smile and a little jump/dance.
Sorry, about that. I. must. sleep. now.
yayy!!!! i hope his shoulder is okay though!
Posted by: Renae at April 17, 2007 11:59 PMBabyDash-related duties + Posting Legovision anyway + Twins win in a laugher = Light or otherwise, the blogging's grand!
Posted by: cubsalot at April 18, 2007 12:09 AMWhen Jeff Weaver struck out Michael Cuddyer for the second time, he pumped his fist and looked like the smuggest sonofabitch in the history of the world. I just wanted to swat him in the face and remind him that he is Jeff Weaver. Thankfully, Torii did it for me, and the look of desperation on his face after giving up the grand slam filled me with more joy than anything ever could.
Posted by: C-Pipe at April 18, 2007 01:16 AMI realize I may be a little late to the party on this one, but I just realized that Ramon Ortiz's middle name is Diogenes.
Truly, Ramon, like his Sinopean namesake, is a citizen of the world. Ramon? As long as you keep dominating fools, I'll happily put up with your ascetic ways, your contempt for human achievements and institutions, and your advocation of animalism and cynicism. Happily.
BG -
We all appreciate however much you can contribute and I certainly hope you feel no guilt when you post less than in pre-Dash days. The way your pinch-hitters continue to come through in the clutch is BOD worthy.
I have a request for some technosavvy member of the BG community. Can someone come up with the little bookmark logo for the website? I would love to see a mini version of the BG logo or mini magic unicorn or a life size photo of LNP next to the link.
That would be as nearly as cool as legovision. Ok OK I exaggerate - nothing is as cool as legovision but you get my drift.
Felix Hernandez vs. Carlos Silva. Think of a Movie Title for this matchup - I go with Clash of the Titans with Carlos Silva as Harry Hamlin and LNP as the mechanical Golden Owl.
Posted by: Moe at April 18, 2007 03:29 AMI don't know that walking Justin to get to Torii makes Torii angry. I'd say it makes him hungry.
Posted by: Brooklynegg at April 18, 2007 06:10 AMYou know what? not only was he hungry, he could smell 'em!

Or is that too 2006?
Awesome game!! While I enjoyed all the offense (and Torii's GS in particular), I have to say I was even more encouraged by the third straight terrific start from Ortiz. Afterall, with his starts lately we don't need much offense. All of the "experts" keep suggesting he will fall hard, and with each passing successful start I wonder if perhaps he was just meant to be a Twin!
Great game guys. I'm looking for more of the same tonight. Let's show the world that the King is vulnerable.
Posted by: Hrbekfan at April 18, 2007 09:26 AMI'm sure all it took was for someone to remind Torii that a grand slam = automatic BOD.
"When Jeff Weaver struck out Michael Cuddyer for the second time, he pumped his fist and looked like the smuggest sonofabitch in the history of the world"
well, you have to remember he is the desperatest sonofabitch in the history of the world. any out is an accomplishment for Our Jeff.
Posted by: msb at April 18, 2007 09:44 AMDear Mr. Moe,
Batgirl has always wanted to do that, but she has no idea how.
Regretfully,
BG
And let us not forget the great fielding plays turned in last night by L-Rod at 3rd. Did LNP look at all worried over there in the dugout?
Posted by: Nancy at April 18, 2007 09:46 AMI have to say that the Mariner's television announcers are not what we like to call "good" *uses quote fingers*
Posted by: Bring Back Reboulet at April 18, 2007 10:00 AMC-Pipe: awesome comment! Who *wouldn't* want to slap Jeff Weaver and remind him that he's Jeff Weaver?
Batgirl:
If you just want to know how to add an icon to your URL (is that what you guys are talking about?), then you can find instructions here:

It's very easy.
Posted by: Slider Away at April 18, 2007 10:04 AMMaaaaan... Tyner almost made it again. Twice. He will get a dinger this year, I feel it.
Torii! Way to make your anger felt, dude! That was beyond awesome.
Posted by: FH at April 18, 2007 10:34 AMSeconding the thought that no one could blame BG for being so very tired. That baby sounds like a handful!
Posted by: Roscoe at April 18, 2007 10:54 AMThere's nothing like a good thumping to rev up the fans. Hit after hit after hot after hit. I could watch doubles and grand slams all day long. But best of all; Ortiz is 3-0! Can we now call him the greatest free agent pick-up by Terry Ryan? I really can't come up with a better FA pick-up. Ron-DL White? Maybe some day, but not today. Hammerin' Henry Blanco? He had a couple of nice games as a backup catcher, but still no. Bret Boone or maybe T-Fat? Hahahaha, just kidding.
Posted by: JaerBesan at April 18, 2007 11:37 AMAnd should anyone have good ideas for what that bookmark logo might *be*, we can find people with the Photoshop skillz to crunch something to the appropriate size...

who is not afraid to abuse his interns in the name of the cause
My husband and I were watching the game yesterday, when Torii came up with the bases loaded. 0-2 count, my husband says "He's gonna hit a salami". I was not so sure.
POW, he hits the grand slam, and I have to tell my husband that he was right. But it was worth it.
Posted by: talldrinkowater at April 18, 2007 12:57 PMMoe, the 300? (But with a happy ending :-)
I think we are almost getting to the nicknaming point with Ortiz, yes, no?
Ramon "the bees knees" Ortiz?
i agree Twin-X. certainly, with another successive quality start we will have to.
i've liked the fact that his middle name is Diogenes. someone here after Silva's last start referred to him as "dogged", as an opposition to the proposal of Silva being re-named "el gato".
i see some blogs have taken to calling him "Razor", but i'm not sure if that really says anything about him as a person, player, or teammate.
Posted by: dfb at April 18, 2007 02:35 PMI think that either of these (shrunk, obviously) would work for a BG icon..

or

Posted by: Lynnie at April 18, 2007 03:23 PMI was so scared watching gameday, but I should know that Torii doesn't disappoint! Some great defense too
Posted by: melissa at April 18, 2007 03:44 PMI'm not too HTML savvy but I goggled "bookmark icons" and found some tutorials:
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/web_graphics/article.php/3479911
Something that seems easier: http://www.webworksite.com/articles/article2.php
And of course Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
See what you can do with those. And I like the second icon that Lynnie posted. It's simple.

Posted by: The Mouth at April 18, 2007 05:27 PMLove the new favicon.
Now if only it was Santana's turn in the rotation tonight; what could be more poetic than the President facing the King?
It was very silly of the Mariners to load the bases on purpose with Torii coming to bat. Not that I'm complaining. He'd been having a good night so far. He hit over 30 homeruns last year. And the announcers said Jeff Weaver threw a hanging breaking ball, and Torii's gone on record saying that a hanging breaking ball is a gift from God. I believe Kirby taught him that. Anyway, seeing him hit that grand slam was so cool! I'm glad I didn't go to bed early last night.
Posted by: Tricia at April 18, 2007 07:15 PMcubsalot, the only thing more appropriate than a President falling a Tyrant would be if it came with the assistance of his VP and the Chairman. ;)
Posted by: Torhu at April 18, 2007 07:33 PMThanks, Lynnie. I like both logos - but the cariacature of BG and BKitty just blobs out when shrunk to the massive palate of 16 pixels ;-).
I'll take a whack at turning the letters into a favicon. Pretty straightforward (and I can always find help. To bastardize a W.C. Fields quote: It's so simple a college kid could do it. Quick! Get me a college kid!)
Posted by: tgd at April 18, 2007 08:33 PMHey .. there's a pic of Batgirl up in the address thingy .... :)
Posted by: BD at April 18, 2007 10:07 PMBG
LOVE the new url logo!
I would now like to ask the BG community to work on world hunger, peace in the middle east and making sure that the infield for the new stadium is the same black dirt used at the old Met...
Nice outing by the Jackal and way to work out of the 7th inning jam. Let's hang up an insurance run or two...
