Sometimes all it takes is a little motivation. After an 0-fer on opening day, Jason Bartlett was feeling a little glum. It didn't help when he booted a ball early in tonight's game for the first error of the year for the Twins. In fact, it looked like it was going to be a downer of a year for Bartlett, until just before the seventh inning, Steve Liddle put his arm around him and congratulated him.
"For what?"
"You're Baby Dash's boyfriend!"
"I am?"
"Yeah! You must be so flattered. That is one adorable baby!"
Well, that was enough for J. Bart, and when he came up in the seventh with a tie game and Jason Tyner in scoring position, he knew what he had to do. "For BabyDash!" he cried as he doinked the ball to left. The ball dropped, BabyDash cheered, and Jason Bartlett got the Boyfriend of the Day.
Goober/ Justin 1, BabyDash/Bart 1, Batgirl/ Chairman 0, BatCub/Torii 0, Jeb/LNP 0, Sooz/Cuddy 0, Readers/Field 0.
Hooray for Bartlett and Dash! :)
Posted by: Piranhtachew at April 3, 2007 10:17 PMDash is one inspirational kid. yay!
Posted by: Lynnie at April 3, 2007 10:17 PMDang nabbit Steve Liddle beat me to the punch - congrats to Dash and Bart.
Jason Tyner wins the award for most creative 'slide' into second base
Much love
Wonder Woman
What? No BOD for the other Jason? Didn't Tyner's beaut of a slide (to get into scoring position for J-Bart to move him over) earn him any points??
Congrats to Dash nonetheless. Show Uncle Goober that the new kid's got some chops.
Posted by: fiesta at April 3, 2007 10:29 PMno love for castillo?
I was only able to "watch" the game on gameday, but it looks like he had it in for the pitcher.
Yay for JBart and Dash! See little buddy, our extra cheering was the boost he needed. Pirahanas won the game for us tonight!
Posted by: Newton at April 3, 2007 10:41 PMAnd so it begins again. I sat in the park tonight and thought to myself, geez, do our guys have a lot of ways to win a ballgame. Five stolen bases on a rookie catcher, and two of them scored. Some kudos for Boof, also--he came back strong in the fifth and sixth, and I was glad that his mates found a way to take him off the hook. Lovely ballgame!
Posted by: opposite field at April 3, 2007 10:56 PMhmm... with the bat clan growing, we got 2/3 the starting line-up now! I love the BOD competition, though I find it hard to decide who to root for.
By the way, is Jeb to LNP temporary or DL induced?
Posted by: Bob at April 3, 2007 11:32 PMCongratulations Dash! 1st BOD, here's to many more.
And congrats' to Pat the bunny for his 1st win of the year, here's to many more.
This is a good thing. BG may not be able to keep up with the posts (handled well by the Batling cast of many); yet it will always be a pleasure to have the short input on BOD (when still awake).
Did anyone at the Dome stay around to watch the 'sliding' practice that undoubtably took place after the game. It's different up here in the bigs where the whole of the basepaths are not of dirt (as down at Hammond). Time for an adjustment.
Posted by: Shanghai Twins at April 4, 2007 01:07 AMOh so happy the BODs are back. Didn't get to watch the game sadly... But I did keep track on my phone and did let out a cheer for the good Doctor and Sweetcheeks wacking the crap out of the ball. Tell Dash he made a wise choice choosing an up-and-coming ss who should have many years with the Twins.
Posted by: Shelley at April 4, 2007 01:36 AMI don't think there's any need for sliding practice.
I fervently believe that Mr. Tyner was attempting to win Dash's love and affection by demonstrating how to crawl.
(Just think, BG: by the playoffs, Young Dash could be mobile. Then you're really in trouble.)
Posted by: tgd at April 4, 2007 05:43 AMYes! Way to go, Bartleby! Getting some BOD points early in the season, I see. Just know that Dash, I, and many others love you to death.
