Now that's what I call waking up to some good news. If nothing else he's an off-the-bench option. If he starts putting up real good numbers he could offset the M&M boys lefty domination in the front-middle of the order.
Posted by: Tux at December 12, 2006 12:40 PMI can live with that.
Posted by: Kurtis at December 12, 2006 12:49 PMGood signing, but don't get too excited about putting up "big numbers."
This is more of a Mike Redmond signing than a Rondell White signing.
In the latter, we are/were hoping for a productive, contributing, regular player.
In the former, we seek a viable bench player who can be inserted in a variety of roles. Not the least of which is - God forbid - if our regular players are lost to injury, we don't have to resign ourselves to well-below-average production at the position - or worse yet, be forced into a pricey deadline deal to compensate.
Again, it's a good signing. Just moderate your expectations a bit and you're likely to be delighted.
By all accounts, a good "character" guy as well. Should fit in nicely to the happy stew that is the Twins clubhouse.

Posted by: ThatsRich at December 12, 2006 01:02 PMWell said, TR. Gleeman, also, did a good job embracing the signing for what it was - a move that doesn't make headlines and yet significantly improves a ballclub.
Posted by: JohnWayne at December 12, 2006 01:32 PMI woke up to the news this morning here in Milwaukee about Mr. Cirillo going over to the Twins. I have mixed feelings about him leaving the Brewers--I always looking forward to seeing him at the many Brewers games I attended last season. If he had to leave Milwaukee, I am overjoyed to know he is joining the Minnesota Twins--the team I hold closest to my heart!
I'll miss you at Miller Park, Jeff. Welcome to the Twins!
Posted by: Jetchick at December 12, 2006 03:12 PMI hope you get Good Jeff, and not Grinder Jeff, the one we got in Seattle:
"I never felt comfortable there, from Day One. I didn't even want to play catch with my kids in the front yard. People would drive by at all hours, go slow and look over. After the first month, I started getting ulcers; I couldn't sleep. I felt the pressure. I've always been hard on myself. And when you have other people who are even harder on you, it doesn't help."
Posted by: msb at December 12, 2006 03:34 PMNot bad!

I'm pretty satisfied with that deal. It's good to have another infielder on the team, just in case. Seems like a decent addition. Welcome, Jeff!
Posted by: TwinsPrincess at December 12, 2006 08:06 PMI agree that this deal can provide reserve infield off the bench but not much--Cirillo is 37 years old--I would rather have kept Lil Rod who is younger and better defensively. The Twins nontendered (polite way of saying cut) Lil Rod--so a net loss on the day.

Posted by: DAM-DC Twins Fan at December 13, 2006 10:43 AMAs a Minnesotoan now in my 10th year in the brew city, I have seen Jeff Cirrilo play many times and he has always been a solid player for the Brewers. He was never the type to carry a team even in his prime. He is a good player who can get a key hit to get a rally going or keep one going. He pulls his weight and is fan favorite. He is definately a Mike Redmond type of player, although there are no stories of him taking Naked Batting Practice.
Posted by: TwinsFanInMilw at December 13, 2006 01:05 PMLooks like Lil Rod is back.
