With all due apologies to Batgirl's beloved husband, who is strongly pressing for Lewwwww based on his, um, critical RBI that upped the lead from 5 to 6, well:

That's some sweet cheeks on that Sweetcheeks. Wasn't he just writhing all over the ground and hobbling on the field yesterday? Hmm, must have dreamt that. Do I hear 30 homers? I know I hear a Boyfriend of the Day.
Readers/The Field 26; Goober/Doctor 25; BatBaby/Torii 14; Sooz/(Cuddy) 12; Batgirl/Chairman 7; Jeb/Lewwww 4.
Ole, Torii. Ole.
Posted by: Neil at September 20, 2006 09:25 PMThat was a damned well timed homer, right there.
Are we going to have *two* 30/100 hitters this year? What shall we do with this embarrassment of riches?
Posted by: CarrieICL at September 20, 2006 09:26 PMWe go to the playoffs, Carrie. That's what we do.
Ole.
Posted by: Neil at September 20, 2006 09:28 PMYep. Just... yep.
Posted by: Katharriet at September 20, 2006 09:29 PMOMG I'M SO HAPPY. I LOVE MY TEAM.
Posted by: L. at September 20, 2006 09:30 PMAtta way Torii, way to make 'em forget Big Papi's 50th! Doesn't being a Twins fan make your day, almost every day?
Posted by: Drew at September 20, 2006 09:32 PMIf we don't get Torii back next year I will be devastated.
Well because we won, the Skanks clinched tonight and I was watching the yes network and I heard Michael Kay (or someone other idiot) discussing who would be a better opponent for the yankees in the division series, and the genious says "Well, the yankees did win the series against minnesota..."
Really? did you really? last time I checked it was a split 3-3. Omg I hate the yankees so much I almosted wanted to lose today to boston to delay their clinch. Almost, but I'll take a torii 3 run homer anyday.
With apologies to James Brown: Give the Boofster some love!
(Not that I'm disagreeing with the BODSHC.)
I have to agree with this assessment right here. Sweetcheecks helped Boof get a win he clearly deserved this fine evening. I LOVE THIS!
Posted by: S.J. Redman at September 20, 2006 09:35 PMso i was watching the game on gameday, because that's all i can do in st. louis, and when cuddy and justin were on the corners and torii came up, i said to my computer, "a three run homer would be wonderful about now."
then it taunted me, telling me that the first pitch was in play, a run-scoring play, but not telling me what happened. could it be a sac fly? could it be grounding into a double play that scored a run anyway since there were no outs?
no no. it was, in fact, a three run homer. i love this team.
Posted by: anna at September 20, 2006 09:35 PMI'll be wearing my Twins hat on the commuter train to Boston tomorrow AM. I'm hoping that some disgruntled Sox fan will offer me tix to that evening's game. Stranger things have happened, not that any come to mind.
GO TWINS!!!
Posted by: Joe B at September 20, 2006 09:36 PMIt's so all good.
Posted by: nailbiter at September 20, 2006 09:37 PMOh how fabulous - we could have 3 guys with 100 rbi and DJ Cuddles has a chance to tie - break the team record for most doubles in a season.
Go Michael!!!
I knew Torii would hit one - I just knew it =)
And best news - my post season tickets arrived in the mail today- I'm set - wohoo - let's take this one all the way boys - let's do this one for Brad=)
Much Love
Wonder Woman
ohhh if the other Sox lose - our magic number is 6!!!!

Posted by: Motown at September 20, 2006 09:42 PMYou know what I love most about Batgirl? Her promptness. No, I love her sass more, but her timely posts are especially fantastic.
Posted by: Erin at September 20, 2006 09:48 PMTorii absolutely crushed that ball. I think it actually went over the Volvo sign on its way out of the park. And Boof has my vote for #2 starter in the playoffs. And thank you, Batgirl, for letting me pinch blog last night. And thank you, Batlings, for the nice comments. Tomorrow, Santana goes for #19, again. Let's get it done for him this time, boys.
Posted by: twayn at September 20, 2006 09:49 PMWe winnnnn! WHAT A GAME! I LOVE this!
Tori goes BOOM and it's his 28th and Boof was Boof-ill-ish-is and Mauer improved his Batting average and he is better then Jeter and we all knew that but *Inhale* now the numbers show it again and we beat Shilling and we had piranha-ish in-field hits and, and... *Some one hand me a paper bag* did I say I love this? Because I meant it.
It may only last a few more minutes, but soon we will overtake them...
MINNESOTA 90-61 -
Detroit 90-61 -
what are the chances we have a playoff spot locked up before the b-sox come to town next week?
Posted by: twins luv at September 20, 2006 09:57 PMThere was a Boston fan behind home plate tonight on FSN- grimacing palm to forehead- just as Torii made contact. Hope a pool photographer caught that.
Posted by: whiteduck at September 20, 2006 09:59 PMI was a scoffer- no way he could do it or even come close, but that was 3 days ago, and now he has 14 in the team's last 47 games. That is like 48 a year pace/wise. He won't drive in 100, but he will hit 30, and that is amazing. In his storied career never a streak like this before has he. As to the 100 part, in a few days I may have second thoughts there too.It reminds me of the long ago time when I loved the guy all the time, or almost.

Were I to start humping (because that is the word of the day!) Torii's leg, what would happen?
A.) I would be arrested
B.) The police would be understanding and let me go, because they, too, wanted to hump Torii's leg.
C.) The Twins win the WS with Torii as MVP?
D.) Torii and I become an item.
Or some combination of the choices?
I love, love, love what he's doing for us right now. And what he's done all along.

I like this article.
Motown,
A bit shocked to see it you (looks like a Detroit man) calling out the Twins in 1st place tie. Even more fun, is to see the Tiggers, now also available on the Wild Card standings. Those MLB guys are pretty sharp.
Let's see.
April - Fears
May - Tears
June - Cheers (what a nice streak)
July - Louder cheers! In the chase for the Wild Card
August - Even Louder Cheers!! In the chase for the Division
September - Deafening Cheers !!! In the chase for AL Best Record (It still could happen)
October - Still in Shanghai, watching on MLB.TV (But happy...)
Maybe time to start looking for a good deal with NWA. Shouldn't be too hard to get tickets right...
God I love baseball. Boxscores, used to be my drug; Now it's Batgirl, and the Batlings. ...and Torii
Posted by: Shanghai Twins at September 20, 2006 10:10 PM*SIGHS HAPPILY*
ah... it's just a good feeling right now.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at September 20, 2006 10:15 PMThey're not booing, They're yelling "Bonser for Sheriff!" (Boof has that awesome Deadwood facial-hair thing going on. Or is that Jersey?)
A thrill a minute with these guys. Go Minny!
Posted by: E-6 at September 20, 2006 10:22 PMgina, Good read, thanks.
Posted by: Twin-X at September 20, 2006 10:23 PMLike I said in one of my blog entries... his late season playing makes us all forget his shortcomings earlier on and how he liked to ground into double plays. I love forgetting. When Torii is your BF, you forgive and forget. I want to remember Torii getting 30 homeruns this season.
You can't be mad at Sweetcheeks for long. He crashes into walls for us.
Way to go Tor.
Posted by: Shelley at September 20, 2006 10:51 PMI suppose we have to start referring to him/her as the Bat Babii now???
Posted by: brianS at September 20, 2006 11:55 PMi do my best not to jinx but it's getting close boys and girls, the asti is chilling and i'm looking forward to that scenic trip from rapid city to the dome to catch a playoff game!! can't wait . win twins. thanks b.g.
Posted by: hook10 at September 20, 2006 11:59 PM
Sweet! CHEEKS!
Just the thought of some asti chlling in Rapid City is going to have me chuckling all day - thanks, hook10.
As for Herr Cheeks, what can I say? Just when I'm ready to see the Twins jettison the guy, just when I've seen the last hit-into-DP I care to witness from Mr. Hunter's bat, just when I've subjected the fine BG readers to a number of tirades on the subject, he goes on a tear like this. Come on, Torii - can't you just hit like this all the time? It would make my life much simpler. However, despite my chagrin, I'll try to find a way to deal with the frustration.
Posted by: adidasman at September 21, 2006 08:49 AMNice to see the return of Gwynnerbell!
Posted by: Saajak at September 21, 2006 09:00 AMTorii is definitely BOD, no argument there. But me thinks Mr. Neshak needs a BOI (boyfriend of the inning), or some other little "hooray!" for that strikeout of Lowell when the Bosox had two on and two out with the tying run at the plate. Did you see the look on that poor guy's face after he swung at that last pitch? He had no prayer; priceless.
Posted by: Dee at September 21, 2006 09:02 AMYes, that look. A combo of daze, shock, dissapointment and "what the hell?!"
