A pennant race? One back of the Tigers? 4 RBIs, a dinger, and a double on the night, and a
Boyfriend of the Day. Damn straight, Sweetcheeks lives for this.
Readers/The Field 25; Goober/Doctor 24; Sooz/(Cuddy) 12; Batbaby/Torii 12; Batgirl/Chairman 7; Jeb/Lewwww 4.
Posted by Batgirl at September 14, 2006 09:49 PMAnd so do I. Here Torii, have your 12 mil.
Posted by: Shelley at September 14, 2006 09:53 PMOnce again, reports of the Twins' death have been greatly exaggerated.
Posted by: neutrino boi at September 14, 2006 09:56 PMWOOT!!! Clutch hitting Torri! This team sure doesn't look lifeless to me! One back and counting...
Posted by: Newton at September 14, 2006 09:58 PMJeter had passed Joe up before that last at-bat...Thanks Joe for that hit!!!
Posted by: allie at September 14, 2006 09:59 PMI love how the boys always excel when people underestimate them. Keep calling us a no chance ESPN, I love you so.
Posted by: L. at September 14, 2006 10:01 PMIt looks like Mr. Sweetcheeks is giving us the finger lol. Haha I love seeing that commercial.
Have you guys ever heard the mlb radio interviews they used to do with hunter? He is so funny. There is one he did with CC sabathia that had me rolling on the floor.
Looks like we have no worries on the morale front. The team doesn't believe the "experts" any more than the fans do, it seems. I'm almost daring to get excited!
(Tough for me to say. Having been a fan of those *other* Minnesota sports teams for my short twenty-something years has made me hesitant to get wrapped up in something that seems this good!)
Posted by: messy girl at September 14, 2006 10:04 PMTake a look at MLB.com's game wrap...apparently the Twins have some pitcher named Bosner (the spelling shows up no less than three times). Good thing this isn't a playoff team, like Boston or Atlanta.
Posted by: angrynorwegian at September 14, 2006 10:13 PMAnybody notice who hit the CENTURY mark tonight? That's right. Michael Cuddyer. He is the underappreciated meat and potatoes of that lineup.
Posted by: Just Hank at September 14, 2006 10:13 PMDear Mr. Hank,
Damned straight.
Appreciatively,
Batgirl
Beat me to it Hank
His previous best was for a entire season was 45.
NOW the century mark. So many hereos on this team. Love em all
The TV sports pundits as a whole (moreso than print) have always relied on myths and outdated, old truths. I recall just about everyone on TV involved with the NFL kissing Dallas' butt for a good four years past their prime in the 90's. More than anything it was just embarrassing.
Posted by: Mark at September 14, 2006 10:20 PMWay to go, Dimples!
Posted by: JetChick at September 14, 2006 10:21 PMBatbaby is overtaking her own mother in the BOD contest.
Posted by: Donnalove at September 14, 2006 10:21 PMEvery Sports Network my ass.
I hate ESPN. Unless your team is in a major market they get downplayed at every turn. Sure they have a few good writers now and then but mostly they need a non ass bat beat down.
Sorry Ranting
I liked harry reynolds
Yay Cuddy!!!! Oh how I love you so!
Posted by: M at September 14, 2006 10:34 PMCan't stand Steve Thomsen at WCCO. Glad we won't have to listen to his amateur dribble after this season/.
Posted by: Chris at September 14, 2006 10:36 PMwhat about Jim Caple? i know he mostly does fluff, but he did call Pohlad "original Montgomery Burns" - Excellent!
Posted by: dfb at September 14, 2006 10:39 PMVery clever..Thomsen's bio is "My life long dream is to work at "CCO".They probably got him cheap. Good Evening to all
Posted by: Chris at September 14, 2006 10:42 PMCongratulations Hunter and Cuddy. Any-one else notice that and, it's a long shot, but... Tori *could* reash 100 rbi and/or 30 Hr. Hope I am not beeing *too* hopefull.
Posted by: Twin-X at September 14, 2006 10:43 PMBack-to-back homers. . . hot.
Punto's defense. . . smokin'.
Mauer getting a hit to stay ahead of Jeter. . . glorious.
Boof having yet another good start. . . bliss.
The whole team pulling together for a win and closing the gap even further on the AL Central the day after losing Liriano for the season. . . PRICELESS!
Posted by: Spacey Stacey at September 14, 2006 10:47 PMWow you can tell I typed that one fast Tori(i):-)
PS that W for Crain is so un-fair, and yes I understand why he got it but come on.
Congrats to Torii, his offense is always welcome. Also, not only did my man Cuddy get RBI 100 tonight, he also leads the team in runs scored with 90. He's sort of a piranha/shark hybrid, I guess. And you have to give a nod to LNP, who flashed some genius leather out there. He was Tiny Superheroic at the hot corner. He has skills, you know. Getting on base skills, fielding hot grounder skills, computer hacking skills... And we can't forget that this was Boof Night, and a fine one it was. A day after the kick in the gut we got yesterday, Boof was right there to pick us up. I'm liking him on the hill more and more these days. He looks like he belongs there, like he wants the ball in his hand every five days for the next 15 years. There's fire in that young man's belly, along with the frappuccino he was drinking between innings. And thank you, Chairman, for that last AB. It would have been depressing to see Mr. Pinstripe's smirking face on the MLB.com leaders page tomorrow. I've had a touch of flu this week, and my stomach's not quite strong enough to stand that just yet.
Posted by: twayn at September 14, 2006 10:50 PMDid anyone notice that Cuddy, Super Joe, and Phil, the new kid, went 1for 10 or 11 off some of the worst pitchers ever{10 of them}? Did anyone notice the three run h.r. to the 9th place hitter in support of another great Boof outing by Mr. Crain? Are you people paying attention? Seriously, folks, it was a great win, and we have now made up 11+1/2 on the bengals since the low point, and are 21-14 since the kid first went down. I think --wait--there is a pulse.Al
Posted by: al at September 14, 2006 11:03 PMWe are a team of destiny.
Posted by: Wolfpackman at September 14, 2006 11:51 PMbfLNP: You are a sexy, barehanding, going-all-horizontal beast.
...do it again.
Posted by: BAT bandwagoner at September 15, 2006 12:28 AM
Twayn...how about calling Mr. Cuddyer a barracuda?
Posted by: Andrew at September 15, 2006 12:30 AMi get knocked down but i get up again....jessie crain you made me sware at my t.v...... i love back to backs, chubawumba 2 nites in a row... :) bboooooooff.. win twins!?? thinks to self?? who pitches tomorrow???? doesn't matter win twins!
Posted by: hook10 at September 15, 2006 12:32 AMAndrew,
That's because people will go "Huh? What?" What we want to see is a celebration on our hands in the month of October. So let's call a shark a shark. Cool?

Posted by: mk at September 15, 2006 01:25 AMHey,give the drummer some. Stand up Rondell...
Posted by: skaboy at September 15, 2006 02:53 AMI think Torii was chapped that he didn't bring that dinger off Crain back into the field of play... He hasn't had one in a while and it *looked* reachable, but he wasn't even close to getting there.
I was also chapped, but for a different reason... watching Torii foul-pop out with runners on (loaded or 1st and 3rd...can't remember). I got to tell you I was not happy to see him come up for a clutch again, but... :)
Is he warming up for a September/October run???? I sure hope so!! I do miss Torii!!
Posted by: rotrhed at September 15, 2006 10:50 AMWith the Tribe sending a rookie reliever named Fausto Carmona to the mound it would be a tragedy if BG couldn't write tonight. Santana will certainly bedevil the Tribe and Tony willing the equipment guy will put out the right bats tonight.
Posted by: TwinsFoghorn at September 15, 2006 02:38 PMSorry for the double post, meant to post under the Gwynn Twins thread.
