Costello: Are you the manager?
Abbott: Yes.
Costello: And you don't know the fellows' names?
Abbott: Well I should.
Costello: Well then who's on first?
Abbott: Neau.
Costello: I mean the fellow's name.
Abbott: Neau.
Costello: The guy on first.
Abbott: Neau.
Costello: You don’t want to tell me?
Abbott: I am telling you. Neau!
Costello: For the last time, what’s the name of the first baseman?
Abbott: Neau. What’s on second.
Costello: I don’t know.
Abbott: Third base!
Costello: I'm asking you who's on first.
Abbott: Neau’s the man's name.
Costello: That's who's name?
Abbott: No, it’s Neau’s name.
Costello: Well go ahead and tell me.
Abbott: That's it.
Costello: That's who?

Posted by Batgirl at August 3, 2006 09:56 PMThe good doctor had a good game, yes, but my hat goes off to Mr. Bradke. 8 innings, only 4 hits...and they weren't sure if he'd even be able to pitch! I know it was against the Royals, but a good sign nonetheless...
Posted by: Pat at August 3, 2006 10:10 PMThe Doctor knows the best medicine for Gardy.
Sucking contest officially noted as one-day, one-time only event!! Be glad you missed it.
Posted by: Shanghai Twins at August 3, 2006 10:10 PMYay for the good Doctor, he hasn't gotten one of these for a while it seems.
Solid win for the boys, nice to see them back on their feet.
Posted by: L.H. girl at August 3, 2006 10:15 PMI'm with you, Pat. Chalk one up for Bradke!
But all the same, y'know, Morneau is, y'know, just so hot right now. . . y'know.
Posted by: Spacey Stacey at August 3, 2006 10:22 PMBG,
By my count, Sooz/Cuddy/Stewart has 6 (last one July 30) and the Batbaby's primary boyfriend is back. And has 9 (including July 31).
Countingly,
-neut
Also... Morneau's going to earn himself some AL-MVP consideration if he keeps playing like this, especially if a Wild Card is in the future. Non-BOD applause for Bradke and the defense, too.
Posted by: neutrino boi at August 3, 2006 10:24 PMAnyone else notice that Mauer only swung at 2 pitches tonight?
Posted by: joe at August 3, 2006 10:26 PMDearest Mr. Boi,
Thank you. BG cut and pasted the wrong line.
Sincerely,
Batgirl
Not to get off subject, but regarding the #5 starter thing. Garza sounds nice, but am I the only one that thinks that Matt Guerrier would be a viable alternative?
Posted by: Scotty_Dawg at August 3, 2006 10:37 PMHOTTT. Goooo 'Neau. Don't forget to vote for him on MLB....
Posted by: flairjordan at August 3, 2006 10:52 PMI was almost sure that Bradke was going to get the BOD honors tonight. But I suppose since the good Doctor did prove himself worthy, he gets it. No homers let through by Bradke. Way to go.
Posted by: Shelley at August 3, 2006 11:35 PMI agree. guerrier would be a great option for 5th starter. he could go at least 5 innings no problem. seems so simple

Twayn, After the third line, I thought this was a post about our 5th starter. Anyway, great exchange. Definitely, a keeper.
Other Bradke thoughts. I think he likes the KC heat to help loosen up. I don't think he intends to retire any earlier than necessary. He may be quiet, but no-one tell me he isn't still one of the real leaders on this team. He always seems to win when it matters most. Twins fans will be lucky to watch him to the end.
Posted by: Shanghai Twins at August 4, 2006 12:26 AMOn an unrelated note, I love you dearly for mentioning the fring festival show "Johan Santana's perfect game". I saw it tonight, and it was great. As soon as he started talking about Liriano being a mix of Santana's strikeout ability and good-Silva's high groundball rate, I knew it was gonna' rock.
Posted by: AdamOnFirst at August 4, 2006 12:52 AMI agree about Guerrier. He hasn't started in a long time, but he's done it before, and if he can bring the same stuff he's had out of the bullpen this year instead of the '04 starter version stuff then he'd be better than any other option we have as the #5 starter right now.
I'm as excited about Garza as anyone but I don't like messing up the 40-man roster or starting the arbitration clock too soon. And after Liriano I've decided not to complain out loud when the Twins bring a pitcher along more slowly than I'd like. You can't argue with the results. Who wants to bet Garza's a September call-up this year, starts next year in the 'pen, and becomes a solid MLB starter before the all-star break?
Posted by: ralf at August 4, 2006 02:21 AMyahoo for the Doc! it was nice to have a fun game to watch again.
regarding Bradke, I think they should turn down the air conditioning in the Dome on days Bradke starts in there. it's too darn cold, anyway. but even MY messed-up shoulder aches when I'm sitting in there; I can only imagine what his feels like.
Posted by: kafumbly at August 4, 2006 06:41 AMHee...for me it was nice to actually...you know... actually see a game for a change. Maybe it's just me but the KC announcers always sound so wistful when they talk about the Twins.
Yay for Bradke! *throws confetti*
Oh, thank you, fellow Batlings - it's soooooo good to see my boy Brad getting the love he so richly deserves. Let's give him one more legitimate shot at a ring, boys, shall we?
Posted by: adidasman at August 4, 2006 08:51 AMNo doubt about who was BOD under the rules of the 'system' and it's just fun watching the Doc play these days.
That said, it was really nice to see Radke have a game like he did, even if it was 'just' the Royals. (The Twins haven't always beaten up on KC, however.)
The guy is just such a class act and has been so for his entire career. It's hard telling whether he'll have more good than bad days down the stretch but when he's good, it just makes you smile.
Posted by: JimCrikket at August 4, 2006 09:09 AMThe strib is reporting that Liriano is starting on Monday and twinsbaseball.com is reporting that he will start on Sunday. Anyone have any insight on this?
Posted by: bc twins fans at August 4, 2006 09:31 AMI've decided that in case Jason Bartlett ever gets sent back down to the minors again, Doctor would be my stand-in boyfriend until Barty got back. Way to go, Dr. Neau!
Posted by: Carrie Hannie at August 4, 2006 10:07 AMI couldn't find the statement about Liriano going on Sunday, but I think that idea was nuked when Radke pitched well yesterday. When Smith was called up the plan was for him to back up Radke if his shoulder game problems and to start Sunday if he didn't have to take over for Radke. I expect Liriano to pitch Monday.
Posted by: hrbekfan at August 4, 2006 11:11 AM(GAVE problems) ;0)
Posted by: hrbekfan at August 4, 2006 11:12 AMIt still says that Liriano is going to pitch on Sunday on the Twins site. Click on my name for the link.
Posted by: bc twins fans at August 4, 2006 02:39 PMSee it now. Still don't believe it! :0) All indications from every source I have seen say he will pitch Monday, and Anderson indicated that too. Not sure what's going on. (It does appear that even the Twins site is "unsure" of when he will pitch.) Let's cross our fingers that Liriano goes against Detroit instead of KC!
Posted by: hrbekfan at August 4, 2006 02:56 PMYou are right about the Detroit/KC thing. Who is pitching on Sunday then? In the back of my mind I was hoping that this would shake up the rotation a little so when I go to Joe Mauer Sideburn night on Thursday I wouldn't have to be subjected to another Silva outing.
Posted by: bc twins fans at August 4, 2006 04:04 PMOur friend Mr Smith is supposed to start Sunday. I'm thinking Silva will be pitching Thursday, but let's see what he does tomorrow before we write him off. He has a great track record and I have considered this year an aberration. His last start was brilliant against a tough offense.
Posted by: hrbekfan at August 4, 2006 04:48 PMReally, really funny.
