The Twins are going through outfielders like they used to go through utility infielders, but the thing is, when we call these guys up, they're just awesome. Keep breakin' em, Batgirl says, because apparently there's just another one waiting in the wings to show the other guys how it's done. Like tonight. It didn't seem like anyone could convert with RISP--except for a fresh-faced call-up that just rolled off the bus. Jason Tyner bookended the scoring with clutch two-out singles in the second and the tenth, resulting in 2/3rds of the Twins runs for the day and giving you, Jason Tyner, your very first Boyfriend of the Day.

Posted by Batgirl at July 14, 2006 10:38 PMgotta love the triple jason thing going on. sooooo much better than batista, castro, and rondell. now let's hope we can get santana back on track tomorrow
Posted by: Dave at July 14, 2006 10:47 PMTyner proved worthy, Torii is hitting well again tonight. Kubel with bad knees had a couple of hits. Everyone is still scared to let Joe hit when it counts, Justin looks strong. But people, can we ask where has CUDDY gone?
Posted by: Stacy Parks at July 14, 2006 10:49 PMYay, Jason^3!
Gardy just said something weird about "hot tub, with your wife" during the postgame interview... strange.
Posted by: Kris at July 14, 2006 10:51 PMNick was safe!
Posted by: Kurtis at July 14, 2006 10:51 PMYes, i WAS!!!
Posted by: Nicky Punto at July 14, 2006 10:59 PMNSMC. That's all I'm going to say. I really wish I had gone to this game as originally planned.
Posted by: Torhu at July 14, 2006 11:01 PMGood call bat-girl. And we gain a game in the wild card, YES!
Posted by: Twin-X at July 14, 2006 11:09 PMI [heart] Jason Tyner!
best part of the game? bases loaded with Jasons. too bad Castillo couldn't get that triple in that at-bat, 'cause that woulda been fun. well, on top of the scoring, that is... bringing in all the Jasons with one hit.
I may make a giant "Timmons Sucks!" sign... 'cause he does. he sucks a thousand donkeys.
Posted by: kafumbly at July 14, 2006 11:36 PMRookie Boyfriend! Yeah! I'm so glad they called Tyner up, even though the reason why doesn't exactly make my day. Still, I have my Rookie BF back - whoosh!
Punto was definitely safe. What a crap call. However, it is really fun to watch him when he's all riled up. I heart you, Little Nicky Punto.
Posted by: FordHoiberg at July 15, 2006 12:01 AMAll those Jasons on Friday the 14th. Almost spooky.
Posted by: Mr. Baseball No. 1 at July 15, 2006 12:01 AMCopy + paste the following or click on my name to check out an awesome pic of Gardy's tirade. The expression on his face while he's kicking the dirt is similar to the expression I'd imagine was on Da Vinci's face anytime he painted something.

Posted by: Will at July 15, 2006 12:36 AMSo, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, as I appreciated Mr. Jason Tyner's clutch performance as much as anyone. However, I feel it needs to be pointed out that he somewhat resembles a possum. A good possum, but a possum nonetheless. May that possum hit many dingers!
Posted by: TwinsforPresidentsofEveryCountry at July 15, 2006 02:31 AMTwin x. How did we gain a game in the wild card? Yankees are fighting for one of those spots too. That series is not really going to help us no matter who wins or loses.
Posted by: Nora at July 15, 2006 02:32 AMDear Nora
We will win our division so you might have to worry about the two pairs of socks.
Going to the Stadium today for some birthday baseball.
Let's Go Yankees
p.e.m.
Posted by: public enemy mike at July 15, 2006 07:10 AMYou will win your division? Not seeing the Yankees take over the Red Sox, based on the way the season is going we will still be worrying about the Yankees.
Posted by: Nora at July 15, 2006 07:27 AMI saw Tyner in Binghamton, NY in '99, and he had the GW hit in the game I saw too! Im excited to have him as part of our Twinkies!
Posted by: Texas Kenny at July 15, 2006 08:47 AMHow I heart Little Nicky Punto!
He's giving Boo a run for his money to be my boyfriend =)
YAY a win!!
Much Love
Wonder Woman
Hooray for cortisone shots!
Amen to Word Smith, especially when someone else is having the shot!
p.e.m.: funny, I don't remember seeing you at the hospital! Have fun celebrating our birthday.
personally, I'd rather be at the Hump watching Johan sit those Indigenous Bitches down.
Posted by: brianS at July 15, 2006 10:17 AMSorry, p.e.m., but any team that willingly picks up Sir Sidney Ponson doesn't have a shot in hell at making the playoffs.
Posted by: CarrieICL at July 15, 2006 10:52 AMDon't want to contradict you Carrie, but we just picked up Erubiel Durazo.
Posted by: Twinsboy at July 15, 2006 12:00 PMDear Mr. Boy,
Ms. ICL is referring to the Yankees pick-up of Mr. Ponson.
Helpfully,
Batgirl
If one more pitcher hits young Jason Bartlett, there will be hell to pay. Leave that kid alone already.
Posted by: Erin at July 15, 2006 12:05 PMToo bad Tyner didn't pick up more RBIs - he seemed to be drawing the at bats with runners on most of the night.
I heard the Cardinals were at the game - let's hope they decide to take Lohse off of our hands soon.
Posted by: dlarso01 at July 15, 2006 03:44 PMSorry, Batgirl. I didn't make myself clear. Didn't anyone else see that the Twins picked up Durazo in the PiPi this morning?

Posted by: Twinsboy at July 15, 2006 04:15 PMSure, but what does that have to do with the Yankees signing Ponson?
I was saying that the Twins aren't looking much better than the Yanks by signing Durazo. Granted, we still could pull off a wildcard spot.
Posted by: Twinsboy at July 15, 2006 05:20 PMBack on thread (slightly): Watched Tyner a lot a few years ago, both in AAA Norfolk and with the Mets. He's a gamer. Makes Greg Gagne look like an accomplished breaking-ball pitcher (shuddering at the memory of all those 0-2 sliders that were closer to the hot-dog stand than home plate), but he reminds me of Bartlett and LNP - he'll do anything, up to and including sticking his ear flap in front of a pitch, to move runners along. Think of him as a slightly less-entertaining, less-spacey version of Leeeeeeeeeew! Overmatched as a starter, but a nice 4th or 5th outfielder off the bench who will fall on live hand grenades when given a chance.
Posted by: tgd at July 15, 2006 08:31 PM14-3 Yankees Win !!!!!
Posted by: public enemy mike at July 15, 2006 08:32 PM6-2 Twins win!!!!!
Also Boston won too. So the Yanks did not gain any ground.
