B.O.D.

Why is this BatBaby smiling?

Recovered267.jpg

Because her boyfriend broke up a scoreless game, that's why. And because BatBabies dig the long ball. And because that losing streak was getting way old. And it's about time Sweetcheeks made something happen, and she wants to encourage him to do it again. And all that makes you, Sweetcheeks, the Boyfriend of the Day.

Is that LNP sliding into first???

Posted by: brianS at July 9, 2006 12:18 AM

Yay for Sweetcheeks. It WAS about time. I almost lost faith. Almost.

Posted by: Shelley at July 9, 2006 12:23 AM

NO LOSING FAITH. PERIOD.

FACE!! CUTE!!

Aw, Liriano goes unrecognised? He deserved that one.

Posted by: Leon at July 9, 2006 12:49 AM

So cute! Keep bringing her smiles, Torii!

Posted by: Bob at July 9, 2006 01:01 AM

Aww, she looks like Sooz! (Whew!)

Leon, you tread on dangerous ground, my friend.

Not many survive a challenge to the wisdom of the BODSHC.

Posted by: Eric at July 9, 2006 03:37 AM

It actually fits...Liriano should go unrecognized for everything ever, now, it seems. When he's 20-1 and got a 0.90 ERA and fails to win the Cy Young or the Rookie of Year, it will be totally on par. (somewhat in jest)

I think it was a great game. Cisco did his stuff, of course with no problem, I think Nathan almost gave up a run, so he could get another save and I think Torii was sick of everyone saying that he isn't pulling his weight. And the best thing about last night was that Justin kept his streak alive!!

Posted by: Stacy Parks at July 9, 2006 07:41 AM

Mr. Dog Trainer ("Ranger - SIT!") *was* brilliant. My knee-jerk was to start arguing with the BODSHC. But without getting too geeky, they're right:

Record when scoring first: 29 - 11
Record when not: 18 - 27

::: Going to take more thorazine to control the latent stat-geek tendencies :::

Great game last night, just caught the last few innings (of course, when all the scoring is over!!)

Congrats to Torii for making batbaby smile- what a cute smile it is!

Just something I noticed- it seems kind of cheap that Mauer is (except last night) doing so awesome but has less B.O.D.s than Torii. But in NO WAY am I questioning the BODSHC- that would be suicidal.

Everyone knows Liriano is the real BOD and the real all-star

Posted by: Kevin at July 9, 2006 11:51 AM

Please reread the rules of the BOD contest on the side and you will see that, in fact, the BOD should almost always go to a Team Batgirl Boyfriend. The fact that Mr. Liriano already has three only shows how exceptional he has been. As for Mr. Mauer, noted Blogger Will Young actually found throuogh a mathematical study that as of some time in June he'd only been the MVP of the game once all season long. Mr. Mauer's hits tend to be more regular and less in game-winning situations. And if you recall back to April and May, Mr. Hunter tended to win a lot of games, and that's when he really racked up the totals.

Um...you guys and gals know that the BOD is not a player of the game award, right?

Posted by: Jeb at July 9, 2006 01:09 PM

Dear Batgirl,

Would it be possible to get a Mauerist Benevolence t-shirt in the style of the women's cap sleeve tee?

Wonderingly,
Annun

well what the hell does liriano have to do to become a team batgirl boyfriend?? he's 10-1 1.83 for god's sake!

Posted by: Kevin at July 9, 2006 01:21 PM

Deep breaths now. Boyfriends are not added or changed arbitrarily mid-season.

Dear Mr. Kevin:

I'm good with the choice. : )

If people complain too much, there may be no more.

Posted by: Megan at July 9, 2006 02:08 PM

Megan brings up a good point. The Twins might read the site and say, "Oh, there's a lot of arguing about BOD. If we lose, they can't argue about it."

So, recall that Batgirl is the BODSHC, and I accept her choice. Besides, Torii totally did happily surprise me today, and that's worth a gold star from JustBeth!
