B.O.D.

I know what you're going to say, I do. And I hear your concerns. But before we proceed, it seems some review of the BOD rules is in order, in particular two clauses. #1: This is not a player of the day, but rather a competition between Team Batgirl's boyfriends and if and only if no TBB is deserving of the award, or a non-TBB gives a truly exceptional performance (in Johan Santana's case, a "start") then the coveted award goes to someone in the field. #2: The BOD Supreme High Commandress's rule is absolute and there is no whining and/or talkbalk. But BODSHC, you say, we know the rules, but surely you're going to give this to Cuddy/Boof/Boo/Castro, and the BODSHC smiles sadly and says, no, no my friends, for they may have been the players of the game but the Boyfriend of the Day accounted for the first run of the game with a sac fly and starting our comeback with a ground rule double, plus he's on fire, plus the BatBaby is a little cranky tonight, and that's why you, Torii Hunter, are the Boyfriend of the Day.

Readers/The Field: 6; Batbaby/Torii: 6; Goober/ Dr. Morneau 4; Batgirl/JoeJoe 3; Sooz/Stewie 2; Jeb/Lewwww 1.

Non-BOD golf clap to Mauer as well. 2 hits off Moyer, again showing that his ability to hit LHP is developing faster than almost anyone had even hoped.

Has Michael Cuddyer begun sending scented candles, etc., that sort of thing, in hopes of there being a BatBaby #2 next season who might adopt him as a BF?

good show, Torii!

and that triple play was frickin' sweet! three outs on one pitch! and I mean that the guy swung at the first pitch, so Boo had ONE pitch total for the inning and got three outs. way cool. although, I'm very sad at how that situation came about...

Many of our boys played well tonight. Sweetcheeks was at least as deserving as any other. Kudos to Castillo/Morneau/Batista for the lovely lovely lovely Triple Play! That was the first (and quite likely only) one I've ever seen live and it was ever so beautiful! A perfect evening topped off with a chocolate & strawberry helmet sundae. Thanks boys!

Oh allright...if it makes BatBaby happy.

But I agree with neutrino boi.
The next BatBaby in the family really should consider adopting Cuddy as his/her boyfriend.

He could use the BatLove.

Amen to the Cuddles nod. Congrats to GTX for his first dinger of the season and his RBI, too. And Boof for his first win. Whoosh!

I'm still abuzz over that triple play.

What does Cuddy have to do?
But way to go Hunter.

I was fishing with my daughter and didn't get to see the game. Sounds like I missed a good one. Congratulations, Torii. We caught you a delicious bass.

Batgirl is making sure Cuddy keeps trying his hardest to win BOD! Hopefully he keeps at it. He has to win it one of these days.

As always I'm partial to Sweetcheeks' defensive ability. He makes great catches because he is usually positioned in a good spot from the get-go to go after any ball hit his way. He's like a cat... getting to where he needs to be to get under a ball. Yeah he makes spectacular grabs because that's Torii, but it's his consistantly great fielding that saves our a**es in a sticky situation.

Congrats Sweetcheeks on BOD numero seis.

I'm so glad BatBaby picked my Boyfriend, makes it easy to keep score instead of being lumped in "the field."

I was following on Sportsline, and just saw the highlight (complete with Dick!) on the local news, and I can't say that I've ever seen a triple play where a run scored. That's astounding.

"just saw the highlight (complete with Dick!) on the local news"

Geez, news programs are really going to incredible lengths to try and get viewers it seems.

Poor DJ Cuddles - I'm going to start praying the Rosary - each night
Nice triple play huh - extra love to Boo for throwing the one pitch to start that - =)

Much Love

Good job by so many and yes the triple play was sweet. Torii certainly was deserving of BOD honors (given the 'rules').

However, while Boof wasn't nearly as sharp as we might hope he would be, you have to admit that loading the bases to start the game and then striking out the 4-5-6 hitters is impressive.

Posted by: JimCrikket at May 28, 2006 12:43 AM

Word Smith, it's easy to keep score for me, letting a utility infielder pick me makes that easy.

Poor, poor michael.

11 game hitting streak? Yeah thats BOD-worthy.

Posted by: TwinsFoghorn at May 28, 2006 06:41 AM

Did you see that triple play? Yay for triple plays!

Have you noticed that Rincon looks so very much like Napoleon?

>Have you noticed that Rincon looks so very much like Napoleon?

Heh. Glad I'm not the only one. That's been my thought as long as he's been with the team. :D

"Have you noticed that Rincon looks so very much like Napoleon?"

Never noticed till this post--but you are right--the resemblance is uncanny...

Someday Cuddles will get a BOD...someday...

I have been watching baseball for more years than I want to admit--this was the first triple play I have seen live (not on replay)

AWESOME!!!!

Dear Readers,

Mr. Cuddles has already gotten a BOD this season, and last year as well.

Helpfully,
BG

After last night's game, even an NYC transplant can get flushed. I haven't heard anyone mention the male harem concept. After all the hard work they did together it would be hard not to "to "touch 'em all". Only an our till show time. Buckle up!
