Ooooooh, Batgirl is giddy. Did you see Johan? Really? Wasn't it hott? Oh, and you remember all the scoring? All of it? Really? Because there was so much it's hard to remember. I mean the doctor went yard and all Cuddy does is hit doubles and Castillo is Cast-sweet-o. And of course there was the Chairman, quietly excelling. That's what the Chairman does, and that's why he doesn't have one of these things yet—he's just been steadily good all season, setting the table for others' heroics, being awesome, and tonight he caught El Presidente's gem and turned the score into a laugher with his two run dinger and late inning single, and that just makes BG so very, very happy, you can't imagine how happy it makes her, and it's about time he won one of these things, and the Old Skool catcher's hat rocks the freakin' house and milk does a BOD-y good, and that's why you, Joe Mauer, are the Boyfriend of the Day.

Posted by Batgirl at May 12, 2006 09:36 PMI agree, that retro catcher's helmet is fabulous. Let's make that a regular feature, Joe-Joe!
Who was Dick commentating with tonight? I never caught who it was but for some reason I think it was Moli (Paul Moliter). Anyway Bert's replacement was talking about Joe's swing and how he needs to change it a little if he wants to get some power in his his. The next pitch was The Chairman's homer. Nice.
Posted by: Shelley at May 12, 2006 09:59 PMThat was a fun game to attend! DQ hats aplenty to go with all those Twins hits! Great choice on the BOD. I was hoping he'd earn that for his HR, etc tonight. Do you think drinking that Strawberry Grip n Go helped?
Posted by: Jaguar at May 12, 2006 10:07 PMCouldn't see the game but I just finished watching the highlights on a Chicago cable channel... and with apologies to all of you who still consider AJ near and dear to your hearts (and I do like the guy too), I had to chuckle when they showed Johan blowing hi smoke by him for one K and then shwoed him watching another strike three go by without moving his bat.
10-1 over the Bitches. Can't really get any better than that.
Posted by: JimCrikket at May 12, 2006 10:18 PM"and the Old Skool catcher's hat rocks the freakin' house"
Yeah, it does! I love that thing.
Shelley, it was Molitor in the booth with Dick. Does anyone know where Bert is? For some reason, I haven't heard anything about it.
Johan was smokin,' as per usual, but congrats to the Chairman for the BOD spot.
(MTRR that LNP's out at the end of the game made my night. So acrobatic, so... superheroish.)
Posted by: FordHoiberg at May 12, 2006 10:31 PM"milk does a BOD-y good"
BG, you are a genius!! And congrats to you and the Chairman on your 1st BOD.
And to agree with FH, yes...LNP's play=FANTASTIC!!
Posted by: Stacy at May 12, 2006 10:33 PM Yes I enjoy watching him get Ked too.
Now my friends that was a B,E,A,U,tiful game!
Gotta love the games where a half dozen guys have legitimate claims to be the BOD. Awesome.
Posted by: Will at May 12, 2006 10:35 PMyahoo Johan!!! what a great game!
I was hoping the Chairman would get the BOD. good work, Joe!
Posted by: kafumbly at May 12, 2006 10:49 PM..and a ninth inning El Guapito Sampler Sighting. Excellent.
Posted by: TD at May 12, 2006 10:50 PMI said last time...it looked like the godly ability of El Presidente was back and it definitely is now due to how well he made those bitch soxs sit down tonight. It was so dreamy that performance. Bojee will sleep well tonight knowing how well Mr. Santana pitched tonight
Posted by: Bojee at May 12, 2006 11:19 PMOut of your mind batgirl. El Presidente is the hands down BOD!
Posted by: Dan at May 12, 2006 11:21 PMI'll just jinx it right now: The doctor is on pace for 50 home runs.
Posted by: Mark at May 12, 2006 11:31 PMJohan was *hotness* tonight. But congrats to Chairman (although I think Don Luis de Castillo, as my brother-in-law dubbed him, may become my hitting boyfriend, due to his extreme awesomeness -- was he not *always* a Twin?)
Posted by: CarrieICL at May 12, 2006 11:38 PMThere needs to be like a "Runner-Up" nod to the Cuddyer/Castillo team.
Not only for the hitting, but that SWEET assist nailing Ozuna on the first "hit" of the game. That was the momentum right there.
Posted by: Torhu at May 13, 2006 12:38 AMGood call BG. I'm sure Johan will be content with his honorable mention, as his lovable catcher was well overdue. Besides, we can't have TR winning team batgirl's BOD contest; BG might be accused of collusion and that would be no fun.
Posted by: Bob at May 13, 2006 12:51 AMI missed it all because of my bachelor's party, and it's a heroic effort to type right now... Yay Twins!
Posted by: Kurtis at May 13, 2006 01:15 AMWhat a great night! The only blemish was the NBA game knocking Baseball Tonight off the ESPN lineup when we had so many highlights deserving national attention -- from the game-opening Cuddyer to Castillo to Batista put-out at third to another 10 K's from Johan to LNP's extreme game-ending web gem (nifty short-hop scoop there by the Doctor, too) and, mercy sakes, so many round-trippers by the good-un's in one game I was nearly overcome by the vapors. On another note, with the Jackal pitching Sunday does anyone else expect to see the pixie vests return? They might actually look rather fetching when properly accessorized with pink bats and ribbons.
Posted by: twayn at May 13, 2006 01:48 AMGreat game tonight. Glad I decided to leave work on time for once to get to a game! Everyone at the game seemed in good spirits (well except for the scuffle that broke out in section 127).
The game ending play was phenominal. When Widger hit it back to Denny "Moon-Over-My-Hammy" Reyes my first thought was that he was going to be injured. Then suddenly LNP did the tiny superhero thing. Then my brain exploded all over the guy sitting next to me.
First thing I did when I got home was to satisfy myself the ball hit Reyes in way he didn't get injured. Then I replayed LNP to the Dr about two dozen times.
Usually going to a ball game is like getting a four day weekend for me. Tonight felt like a two week vacation!
Posted by: TwinsFoghorn at May 13, 2006 02:52 AMFord, Bert's just taking the weekend off to spend at home, since they were already not broadcasting Sat/Sun. We get Jack Morris on Monday and Bert's back in Detroit on Tuesday.
Fortunately I already have other plans for tonight. Good luck to those of you watching on WGN.
Posted by: timprov at May 13, 2006 07:07 AMAnybody see yesterday's Bitch Tribune article? I thought it was very entertaining. Especially after handing their Bitch-asses to them. I'll try to find the link.

Posted by: Twinsboy at May 13, 2006 08:39 AMThat Punto play was lovely, but the lousy channel i saw the game didn't play the replay.
Posted by: Jose Hernandez at May 13, 2006 09:15 AMMark, actually, the M.D. has 9 hrs in 35 games which translates to 36 in 140 or 41 in 162, not that there is anything wrong with that, but it sure ain't 50.
Posted by: al at May 13, 2006 11:57 AM
Was that DonnaLove I saw on the Jumbotron during the game last night? It sure did look like her to ME...
Twinsboy, the Gods have a way of punishing the type of hubris Mr. Cowley displayed in his column... like making one a writer for the Sun Times rather than the Tribune. And like handing one's annointed team a 10-1 mauling in a series opener after prematurely predicting their opponent's demise. I did nearly spit Dr. Pepper through my nose, though, when he characterized the Twins as divisional bullies during their recent titular reign. It was akin to a cat turning up its nose at the aroma of its own litterbox.
I just want to officially thank Gardy for changing the pitching rotation in time for me to see Santana destroy the Bitch Sox for my 40th birthday! I can't think of a better way to start the next phase of my life than sitting at the game surrounded by my friends, screaming "Sit down, bitch!" over and over and over again... bless you, Gardy!
Posted by: smaki at May 13, 2006 08:15 PMYay, The Joe finally got one! Good choice B-G!
