"A hit, a very palpable hit!"
(And two RBIs.)

I think we'll get to like this guy eventually. a 20-game hitting streak would help.

Never, ever had even a shred of doubt. Rondell White will stop hitting when they pry the bat from his cold, dead hands. Any break in the action is purely temporary.

before you know it, RonDL will be passing Torii's BA...

Posted by: dlarso01 at April 20, 2006 01:09 PM

I was always on Rondell's side. I have a soft spot for him.

Posted by: aurora at April 20, 2006 01:11 PM

So is it MORneau or morNEAU? I thought the man hisself corrected it to the former last year, but they're saying the latter on the radio again.

Posted by: edge at April 20, 2006 01:34 PM

Congrats Mr. White
I really think before this season is over we are going to see his smile alot as he helps the Twins many games.

Posted by: caluofmn at April 20, 2006 01:57 PM

Yay!

And boy is it good to hear Herb on the radio today.

I think it's "MorNOOOOOOOOOO" after he strikes out in a clutch situation.

Fair game to Rondell, blind squirrels, nuts, you know how it goes.

Funny that dlarso mentioned Torii's once-again plummeting BA; am I the only one thinking that we may finally have to acknowledge that Mr. Cheeks, while a fine defensive outfielder and a swell guy, may have reached the end of the line as a Twin? For all his bluster, he never seems as good in reality as he could be, or, more importantly, as he NEEDS to be on this team. On the Yankees, they can afford a light-hitting defensive star who makes $12 million a year - can the Twins justify that with their $63 million payroll? Maybe not.

its definitely MORneau, our announcers aren't the brightest...

also, i love the hamlet reference!

Posted by: Hannah! at April 20, 2006 03:21 PM

A palpable hit indeed...
Now if only we had found a few more.

Either way, it was a fun series.

I am always glad to see the flights of Angels leave the Dome.
Yes, 'twas a not so subtle segue into my kudos to you Jeb.

A beautiful Hamlet reference.

Is it any wonder the fair Batgirl loves you so?
Methinks it is not.

adidasman-

Are you sure we aren't long lost brothers? Because time and time again I find myself in complete agreement with your takes. Be it the stadium debate or Hunter's lack of consistent offensive production. Spot on my good man!

RonDL's average has soared to .127 with his two blasts today (and 2 ribbies from the 7 spot). Keep it up RonDL, I'm rootin' for ya.

I was working late with the game on gameday from mlb.com. RW came up, bases loaded, first inning, two out, score tied and I thought...

if I was the manager I'd think about pinch hitting for him here.

and then he drives in two WHOLE runs.

"I am always glad to see the flights of Angels leave the Dome."
That's from the same scene.
Ha!

Not another "it's time to get rid of Torii" April conversation. Please. I beg of you. TORII WILL BE FINE!!!

And there's nothing NOT to like about Rondell White, personally or professionally! A total class act. I'm glad he's here. :-)

Posted by: LaurieNY at April 20, 2006 08:12 PM

one hit yesterday, two hits today... Rondell White is going to be fine. it takes time to get used to the DH role. I really like him so far, and I have faith that he'll be a huge asset to the Twins.

Twins fans may be interested to know that former RF Jones is off to a terrible start with the Cubs. He has spend the season thus far batting under .200, with several hits being the bleeding infield variety. He leads the Cubs in stranding runners and probably would be benched except that his backup Angel Pagan went on the DL with injury. His fielding has actually been worse than his hitting. The Cub fans consider him a real liability and his only saving grace to this point is the Cubs have been on the road. General Managing Partner Andy MacFailure has a real facination with former Twins but has a terrible record of success with them.

Hey there, Laurie - Here's my point regarding Torii. He's a very good player, a great guy, and a good representative for the team. But he has never, in my memory, been dependable in the clutch with the bat, and that's what a guy who makes the kind of money he makes needs to be. Especially on a team like this one. Yes, he hits in patches every year, and gets everyone (including me) thinking he's going to get rolling. But it never happens. Never. He strikes out way too much, he fails to do the proverbial little things way too much, he never seems to grow as a hitter. Torii now is basically the same as Torii five years ago. Do I love watching him play? Absolutely. But do I also think that $12 million could be better spent elsewhere? Sadly, after fighting it for a long time, I do.

So...how did I do, Speedy? Did I represent us both well, my long-lost brother?
