For those out of town, the Kirby memorial will be broadcast live on twinsbaseball.com. KFAN will be playing it on the radio and they have a live stream on their site http://www.kfan.com . Also, apparently WCCOradio.com will have the audio available on their site as well. In the cities, the local UPN channel and KSTC will be carrying it.

Posted by: talldrinkowater at March 10, 2006 10:58 PMExcellent. I know where I'll be then.
Posted by: mk at March 10, 2006 11:52 PMThere's an article on the Strib's site that says Hunter won't be able to talk. He'll be there, but he says he'll be too choked up to talk. :(
Posted by: Candace at March 11, 2006 09:00 AMKFAN Radio, AM1130, will carry it live too.
It should be a beautiful memorial tribute. I think I'll be crying too hard to see much of it, though.
Posted by: Annie Savoy at March 11, 2006 09:35 AMI really I wish I could be there. But then I get the feeling a lot of people here do too.
The day after it happened I felt like going out and buying a new Twins cap to wear. I went to four stores in Scottsdale and they were all sold out. Seems like even halfway accross the country there are a lot of people feeling the same way.
Posted by: Gendo at March 11, 2006 10:00 AMI'll be there on Sunday with my husband and possibly my parents.
I'm supposed to be on the Kevyn & Colleen show sometime on Monday to report on my impressions of it (9am - Noon, fm107.fm, FM 107.1 in the Twin Cities). Usually I'm just on to talk TV on Thursdays around 11:45am, but this past Thursday all we talked about was Kirby and they want me to check in with a special report.
Sunday will be emotional, that's for sure.
Nice to see your Kirby piece in the Pioneer Press today BG! I'm glad they printed that so all the non-Batgirl readers (there might still be few out there, I suppose) were able to read your wonderful column!
It's a tough time for all of us and I know you are dealing with the pain like the rest of us but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing your posts start back up! We miss Kirby and we also miss Batgirl.
PS...my 4 year old and I love your new book!
Posted by: SDave at March 11, 2006 01:09 PMDear Mr. Dave,
Kirby piece in the PiPress?
Huh.
Who knew.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Batgirl
Seriously wish there was a way I could get up there for the memorial. *sigh* Stupid obligations. You can bet I will be watching it though, as much as possible anyway, through the certain tears.
It still amazes me, nearly a week later how any innocent tribute/article/soundbite can make me well up. I was like 10 when he was in his heyday and living 4 hours away, I didn't get to nearly as many games as I do now. Yet, there is something about KP that I associate with my childhood.
Posted by: Say Rah! at March 11, 2006 01:55 PMI'd like to watch on the net, but 7pm translates to 2am for me. Hopefully they will post at least bits of it somewhere.
Or maybe I'll set my alarm, put my rally cap on, and watch a few minutes on twinsbaseball.com in my PJ's.
Win Twins.
Posted by: gopher38 at March 12, 2006 10:01 AMThis is my first comment on this website, so ... well, I'm a huge White Sox fan, my favorite player in baseball is Mark Buehrle, and nearly all of my clothes are a mixture of white and black. And yet still, I'm suddenly obsessed this website. Weird, huh?
Anyway, my thoughts are with Kirby Puckett.
Win Twins. (and White Sox :P)
Posted by: JJC at March 12, 2006 06:17 PMI think my roommate and I wanna write a letter to Torii--to tell him he needs to be the next Kirby. Anyone know who I address it to?
Posted by: ForMorneau at March 12, 2006 08:51 PMWhat a beautiful service. Kirby will no doubt be a recipient of many Boyfriend of the Day awards in the hereafter.
Godspeed.
Posted by: CarrieICL at March 12, 2006 08:52 PM First Class Service, done by a First Class Organization. My Twins hat is off to all those Kirby fans that braved the weather to honor him. Remember Kirby is just a dream away.
Bless Kirby, his family, friends, fans and teammates.
