Coolness! It makes me almost feel like defrosting.
Posted by: Twinsboy at February 21, 2006 08:33 PMThey all look so happy! Heck, I'm happy too!
Posted by: Hannah (the second) at February 21, 2006 08:48 PMI still find it hilarious that the baseball teams all have custom-made basketball shorts.
Posted by: Annun at February 21, 2006 09:27 PMYay!!!!!! they are getting into baseball mode! *bounces in chair*
Posted by: CapitalBabs at February 21, 2006 09:56 PM*SIGH* I wish I was going, but alas I choose Europe. I'll probably be thinking about Spring Training the whole time I'm in Europe (esp. if it's cold) though. Well, there's always next year. 49 DAYS TO HOME OPENER!!!!! I love that number (49).
Posted by: Mel at February 21, 2006 10:47 PMThanks Insider -
Those are some sexy white legs =)
Much Love
WW
I see Lew Ford and that makes me happy! At least I think that's Lew I see....
Posted by: Candace at February 21, 2006 11:45 PMBeautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
First pics of Spring training. First baseball practice tomorrow. The Baseball Prospectus comes out on Tuesday.
I love baseball. I'm so glad it's back!
Posted by: TBird41 at February 22, 2006 12:07 AMMel, don't think of the Twins if you're in EUROPE! I think I'd place Europe over Spring Training anyday... It doesn't help that I have a friend there, but still, it's EUROPE! Where are you going while you're there or where did you go? JW
Spring Training is my friend. And Twins Notes in the paper everyday make me smile. =)
Posted by: Laura at February 22, 2006 07:58 AMThank you, insider and Batgirl! Spring is coming!
Posted by: JustBeth at February 22, 2006 07:59 AMCaptions:
1) "OK guys, Gardy dropped his watch somewhere in the outfield and we've got to help him find it."
2) "Guys! Don't run, you're not going to see it if you're running!
3) "Good, just like that! First one to find it gets a snow cone."
4) Lew: "Yay! Snow cones!"
5) Sorry, I got nothing.
Posted by: CubsTwinsSeries at February 22, 2006 10:06 AMHigh socks with shorts!?!?!?!?
Posted by: caluofmn at February 22, 2006 11:04 AMBlack socks and black shoes with shorts!?!?!?
Posted by: caluofmn at February 22, 2006 11:05 AMThey're in Florida, they're trying to blend in with the rest of the tourists . . . and my grandpa.
Posted by: Me at February 22, 2006 11:39 AMI have waited a long winter for this feeling!
I know what you mean Mic.
It doesn't matter those moves the team made or didn't make. The fact that soon I can see the Twins play and root for them is a great feeling.
GO TWINS
Posted by: caluofmn at February 22, 2006 12:40 PMAt this point, I'm so desperate for baseball, that I will forgive any number of socks-related faux pas.
Posted by: Katharriet at February 22, 2006 12:53 PMFrom the Strib:
"Former Twin Kent Hrbek visited camp on Tuesday, grabbed a glove and walked into right field to shag balls. Problem was, Hrbek, at one point, flipped open his cell phone and started talking while shagging. Gardenhire couldn't believe it and began ribbing him."
Please tell me that's not shagging in the Austin Powers sense...
Posted by: heraldguy at February 22, 2006 12:54 PMI hope not herald but you never know what those autograph hounds are willing to do...
I hope the good doctor doesn't have his Bluetooth on when he plays the field now.
Posted by: caluofmn at February 22, 2006 01:22 PMBaseball America has the bottom half of thier top 100 prospects list our So far 4 Twins have made it.
Posted by: Paul at February 22, 2006 01:36 PMLaura, I'll be going to Rome (5 days) and Paris (2 days) while in Europe, for my Sr. class trip. It's just I've been so deprived of baseball, but you are completly right. My friend said the same thing. 48 DAYS TILL HOME OPENER!!!!!!
Posted by: Mel at February 22, 2006 08:23 PMThose ain't big leaguers, like, say, the New York Yankees. I know a softball team when I see one. The only reason why they are "running" is probably because someone opened up the beer cooler.
Posted by: Eric Holt at February 22, 2006 11:44 PMSpeaking of Spring Training, the new issue of USA Today's Sports Weekly has a small photo of Dr. Morneau on the cover -- and he's ID'd as one 10 major leaguers "on the spot" in 2006. His pix is the "I" in "Spring Training" on the cover. Twins MLB power ranking is 12 overall and 3rd in the AL Central.
Nothing we didn't know, but Dr. Morneau is saying all the right things. We can hope all we want with White and Batista -- but we need Dr. Morneau to be our Big Papi this year.
Posted by: funoka at February 23, 2006 07:30 AMBlack socks? Come on, guys - those socks are navy blue! Ummm...you know...the TEAM COLORS??!! And the shoes are black because, well, that's the color of shoes they wear with their unis. Come on, now - they are baseball players, after all. You can tell by the below-knee-length, shiny shorts.
Who cares about the socks anyway??? The season is almost here!!! Let the revelry begin! (Oh, and if you haven't seen the 2006 TV commercials yet, go to the Twins site and check them out; pretty funny stuff featuring Torii and the Chairman. If Torii hits the baseball anywhere near as well as he hits the pinata, it's going to be a very good year...)
Posted by: adidasman at February 23, 2006 09:02 AMSorry if I'm late to the game on this, but has anyone seen the new Twins commercials?

The one with Sweetcheeks is great stuff. I laughed out loud.
Posted by: Chris at February 23, 2006 09:06 AMAdidasman: Jinx.
Posted by: Chris at February 23, 2006 09:06 AMThe commercial with the Chairman had me laughing harder than the Torii one.
Posted by: Saajak at February 23, 2006 09:18 AMRight back atcha, Chris. As for the spots, Joe just isn't quite as comfy with the camera as our boy Torii is - he'll get there, but he's still a bit stiff. The look on Sweetcheeks' face when he hits the pinata, though, is perfection, not to mention the way the kids are staring at him - "Hey, you wrecked our party, you mean ol' man!!!"
Posted by: adidasman at February 23, 2006 09:23 AMYeah, as an actor Joe's a pretty good catcher.
The kid's expression when he got the sideburns was priceless, though.
Posted by: heraldguy at February 23, 2006 09:37 AMyeah i can't wait for the first spring training game...too bad i can't go with my parents to florida
Posted by: From the middle of nowhere at February 23, 2006 11:00 PMThe commercial with the Chairman had me laughing harder than the Torii one.
True dat. Do you think Coke might sue?
Posted by: Robert at February 25, 2006 06:17 PMJust got into Fort Myers (from our home in Miami) last evening! All set for the opener at Hammond tomorrow evening! :) :) :) :) :)
