Thank god almighty! Man, it's about freakin' time. BG knows there are many lucky Batlings heading down to the Nirvana of Spring Training this year--she expects stories, pictures, and of course lots of swag.

HAPPY 1ST OFFICIAL DAY OF 2006 TWINS BASEBALL!!!!!

Posted by: aurora at February 19, 2006 08:09 PMIs there a bat girl 06 musical scheduled for release this year, or should I not get my hopes up.
Posted by: vince at February 19, 2006 08:23 PMHey...doesn't Joe live in Florida? Why is he lookin so pale?? (Musta been that few weeks in MN for Twins Caravan.) But I'm not complaining--I'm totally looking forward to Spring Training. Pale legs and all...
Posted by: ForMorneau at February 19, 2006 08:36 PMYAY!! Now, didn't all our lives just get a little bit better today? I thought so. :)
Posted by: AT at February 19, 2006 08:40 PMWhee! We made it!
Posted by: CarrieICL at February 19, 2006 08:45 PMHooray for spring training! I went to Fort Meyers and saw the first three or four games back in '03. It was a great week.
I saw David Ortiz in his first game as RedSock (against the twins), trading hugs with AJ and Doug. I shouted "Hey David, wrong uniform!" He glared at me and I walked very quickly back to my seat. In person, David Ortiz is one big scary guy. He would have tossed me right over the outfield wall of City of Palms Park, I know it.
Posted by: Kurtis at February 19, 2006 08:51 PMFor various reasons Bella and I won't be going down this year, and it's so sad. Really, you have to do spring training at least once in your life. And be sure to go to at least one Red Sox game, because City of Palms Park rocks. Last year we saw Schilling's one spring training start and it was all magical. The best part: the Twins beat him!

One of the cutest freakin' pictures in the entire world!!!
Someday I will make it down there for Spring Training, but for now, I will bask in the joy and glory of the fact that we all made it through another offseason and I will hope for a glorious year of Twins baseball!
Posted by: Candace at February 19, 2006 09:23 PMIf anyone does get down this way, tap me on the shoulder and say hey!
Things get alot more formal here now, so alot of my fun has ended, but, it's all fun.
Posted by: insider at February 19, 2006 10:03 PMI can't remember the last time I was so excited for baseball season. I wish like hell I was basking in the sun and Twins baseball. Just knowing it's happening makes the sunshine warmer.
That and Barry Bonds is retiring after this season. Life is goooood.

Posted by: sacky at February 19, 2006 11:39 PMSpeaking of Nirvana today would have been Kurt Cobain's 39th birthday (RIP)!!!!!
To Kurtis
It's Sox not Sock (Red Sox's are my second fav. team).

50 DAYS TO HOME OPENER!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Mel at February 20, 2006 01:01 AMDear Mr. Vince,
Alas, no musical this year--last year's seemed to curse the team. Batgirl will not have that on her shoulders again.
Sincerely,
BG

Spring is on its way!
and my long day of school just got a little better knowing that baseball is back!
Posted by: sheenie at February 20, 2006 08:59 AMThe SUN ... The SUN!!! Warmth returning ... blood circulating ... must break in ... baseball glove.
Posted by: Twinsboy at February 20, 2006 09:00 AMForget groundhogs and shadows and equinoxes and all that nonsense. The true signs of spring are pitchers and catchers reporting.
Posted by: Katharriet at February 20, 2006 09:38 AMTHIS is the most wonderful time of the year.
Posted by: Twinsboy at February 20, 2006 09:50 AMahh.... baseball!!! there is baseball news!!! I can't wait to get actual GAMES underway again but given my partiality for pitchers, this was a wonderful weekend - MUST SEE MORE PICTURES!!!
*sighs happily*
Posted by: CapitalBabs at February 20, 2006 09:57 AMI was bumming on a sofa last night playing NHL 2006, and I looked over at my buddy, also a former season tix holder and ginormous baseball fan, and I said "why did we not take today & tomorrow off?" He said "what for" to which I replied "Pitchers & Catchers report, & first day of practice." I then declared these two days, henceforth, shall be a national holiday for... us two... weeee!
Posted by: ThyTwinsArtTheMan at February 20, 2006 10:19 AMI just spent the morning trying to get my sister season tickets next to mine (my new Twins rep is working on it. It seems my old Twins rep traded me in the off season).
Anyhow, I am not going to Spring Training but my husband and I are going to the WBC semi-finals in San Diego. We are hoping to see some Twins in action.
My cat Emerson actually carried (well more like dragged) my foam finger from the closet to his secret hiding space under the stairs. I never knew he was such a fan. I guess the Bat Kitties have a friend!

My fav:
Apparently Joe received some candy and cards in the mail on Valentines Day - but no marriage proposals - it made him a little lonley - lol =)
And tho he respects Torii -I quote - 'I don't know about Torii being better looking then me'

Time to check my mlb.tv subscription to make sure its active. Winter is (somewhat) over.
I agree w/ CapitalBabs, PITCHERS ARE HOTTTT!!!! I have my long list of pitchers that I drool over everytime I see. I told my dad that we're going to start to play catch in the backyard, so I'm prepared next time when some hot pitcher throws me his wram up ball (THANKS LOHSE!!!). As to the Mauer artical I enjoy Snoop Dogg too, even though I'm more of a Punk fan myself. I know I'm going to Europe for sure, but @ the same time I wish I was going to Spring Training. I feel so lost w/o baseball. We're soooo close!
Posted by: Mel at February 20, 2006 03:41 PMThe Twins sure have some hot players like Mauer, Santana and even Lohse. I'd love to see Lohse in a lockerroom picture [faints]
Posted by: Toni at February 20, 2006 06:10 PMWOW! I would have to agree w/ you on that one Toni. That would probably be the most HOTTEST thing ever (besides mohawks)!!!
Posted by: Mel at February 20, 2006 08:03 PMI'm singing the Anthem at the March 15th game- I've been to the stadium but never during spring training so I'm excited. Come say hi if you see me :-)
