Dear Batgirl,
As a loyal reader of your site these past few years I would like to ask for your assistance in letting your Batlings know about our upcoming event. Our group of ball fans will be hosting its 24th Annual Ballpark Tours Hot Stove League Banquet and Charity Auction on Fri., 1/27, 6 to 9 pm at the Bandana Square Center, 1021 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul. As with past years, all funds from our auction goes to the Dunning Field Little League that is in the Summit Universty neighbrhood of St. Paul. We have raised over $30,000 for these kids since 1982! This year our lineup includes our host and MC Brad Zeller of The Rake magazine, Twins great and Hall of Fame member Rod Carew, St. Paul Saints manager George Tamis, former Twins executive and co-owner Clark Griffith plus a special tribute to Negro League great Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe. Tickets are an affordable $25 and can be purchased at Anodyne Coffee, 43rd & Nicollet, Mpls, Golden Thyme Coffee, 921 Selby, St. Paul and Old Man River Cafe, Annapolis & Smith in West St. Paul or by calling 651-227-3437. If available, they are $30 at the door. Our banquet is not your "father's hot stove get-together". It is a fun, irreverent and raucous time where young, middle age and elder fans join with each other to disect the previous year and celebrate the upcoming baseball season.
Yours, twinsfansam
I really need to move closer to the Twin Cities.
Posted by: JimCrikket at January 16, 2006 11:25 PMI'm a former organizer of this thing, and all I can say is a) it fits the BG zen like a glove (to massacre a metaphor) and b) if you've never been, you should go at least once to ge the full flavor. The fans are in charge here, not the suits. Carew is quite a nice get, but the undercard usually produces the most unexpected fun.
Posted by: sillyson at January 17, 2006 08:59 AMI think I am going again this year.. trying to see if I can get a couple more friends to go with me this time.

Yeah me too--but not sure I can take winters colder than DC metro area...

Posted by: DAM-DC Twins Fan at January 17, 2006 02:47 PMNot sure if anyone saw: Over at Twinkietown a kind South Dakota fan attended the Aberdeen Twins Caravan and gave a nice play-by-play. Looks like fun stuff. Click my name for the link.
Posted by: Neil at January 17, 2006 04:37 PMwell it's not exactly warm in Iowa either DAM... and since I'm flying to DC tomorrow, I just checked the forecast there and it's not exactly balmy either.
Posted by: JimCrikket at January 17, 2006 07:35 PMI happened to catch the Twins Caravan when it came through Fargo last night. I've never posted on bg before but I felt like sharing a few of the highlights. Not only did I get to meet my NSMC Lew Ford and Kent Hrbek, but Gardy definitely provided the highlight. A question was asked from a fan about the bullpen this year to Rick Anderson and he replies, "it'll be different this year with the loss of Mulholland and Romero" when he was abruptly interrupted by an uproar of applause by Gardy himself! Anderson cont'd by saying the coach got an early Christmas present!
