Awwww...how truckin' sweet is that??

Congrats to Goober and Sooz!!

Congrats also to Auntie Batgirl, Uncle Jeb, and the Batgrandparents!!

I hope he or she is a happy and healthy little Goober.

Looks to me like he/she has got a catcher's mitt in there. But I guess that wouldn't preclude him or her from DH-ing.

Congrats! In a year or two, s/he can try out for my all-toddler fantasy team. I've got a pitcher and a shortstop already.

hooray for Goober and Sooz and the entire Bat Family! that's so great!

if I ever have kids, though, I hope s/he isn't born with a hat on, cuz that can't feel good. just sayin'.

"I love these little people (children); and it is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us." -Charles Dickens,The Old Curiosity Shop

Congrats all around BatProcreators...are we talkin' names yet?...'cause you know...a certain someone's Boyfriend of the Year has a name that rocks both the pink and the blue.

Yay, Goober and Sooz! Please, please, please get that baby a bat as soon as he/she develops gross motor control. We're not asking a lot. Just a good OBP, maybe a few extra base hits every now and then.

Congrats guys.

Congratulations Sooz and Goober!
There are some really good baseball themed children's books out there (and some really bad ones)that you can start reading to the baby as soon as the little slugger is born--or before if you are so inclined. My future hall of famers really liked the book "Frank and Ernest Play Ball" by Alexandra Day. I think the Twin's wives put together an ABC book too. We have the Kirby Pucket book, but the kids never seemed to like it all that much.

Congratulations, BatFamily!!

Well done. I'm training my kids to be umpires.

Funny story on A.J. this morning in the NYT. A.J., give us back our attitude!

"Known for barking at opposing hitters in the middle of plate appearances, elbowing them on their way up the first-base line and stepping on their bats instead of picking them up, Pierzynski has done little to change."

This is wonderful news!!! Congratulations!!!

Thanks to everyone SO MUCH!!! We will save this for little Anthony John (or Anthonita Joanne) along with the tools of ignorance.

Posted by: Goober at October 11, 2005 12:10 PM

A.J???? You're going to name the child A.J.??? What, you want him/her to annoy and infuriate those around him/her? I must say, however, that I wish I'd known where to get one of those in utero Twins caps a few months ago; our little Cameron would have looked even more smashing coming out of the chute with a "TC" adorning his little head. But he's making up for it now - he's seven months old and just got done posing for father-and-son photos with Dad, both sporting Twins outifts and matching caps. He'll be the opening day third baseman in 2026, I promise - he'll have a great glove, and he'll NEVER leave men in scoring position. Never. I promise.

Whew. Go ahead and name the kid AJ.

However, I am laying claim to the name Johan for Jlubby and I's eventual offspring. Dibs!

Posted by: CarrieICL at October 11, 2005 01:56 PM

Congratulations to Goober and Sooz! Be sure to keep him/her away from Batkitty 2, too much controversy follows that cat. The next thing you know Batkitty 2 will be trying to pin his catnip-abuse positive tests on Enfamil shots given to him by the Goober baby.

Posted by: Skorch at October 11, 2005 04:23 PM

For years I wanted to name a child "Kirby," so I'm all to aware of the risks of naming a child after sports figures (especially a hothead like AJ).

Posted by: Goober at October 11, 2005 04:39 PM

I have an "AJ" its for Alexander Justinian but noone who knows me believes me when I say its not after our hated/loved? former Twin.

What's worse out here so close to Giants land AJ is name that is not uttered in proper company. I guess Giants fan still bears a grudge.

I've already had a "hope he can stay outta double plays when he gets to little league"

I really miss Minnesota.

Congrats again.

Posted by: caluofmn at October 11, 2005 06:53 PM

Congrats again and again.

Congratulations you guys!! That's awesome! And I love how he/she is already wearing the cap of the proper team :)
