Detroit at Twins. Weekend Round-Up.
Friday. Twins 7, Tigers 3.
Saturday. Twins 3, Tigers Zilch.
Sunday. Twins 6, Tigers 4.
This weekend, Batgirl was watching the Twins dispose of the Tigers in fine fashion along with the Lego guys. The Legos were really quite emotional the entire series, saying good-bye to all their friends and counterparts. They don't know who's going to be back next year, and also the Legos don't have a lot to do in the off-season, they play some Lego Scrabble and catch up on their Lego reading and sometimes do some impromptu Lego Shakespeare—but really baseball is what gives their Lego lives meaning.
Well, anyway, on Friday night when the Twins Fan Appreciation Days commercial went on, I don't mind telling you that things got pretty teary eyed. And it wasn't long before the Legos had jumped up as one and demanded to reenact it for themselves. So without further ado, the Lego Twins thank you for all you have done in '05.
Fan Appreciation Commercial: A Reenactment:
Lego Lew Fordwalker:

Twins fans……YOU'RE something special!
Lego Chairman Mauer:

And for that…

…we tip our caps.
Lego Bradke:

Our way of saying thanks to everyone…

…across Twins Territory.

Lego Dr. Morneau:

You, who drive for hours to get here.
Lego Li'l Sweetcheeks:

You with your sign…

… and lucky jersey.
Lego Boo:

You..

…with your family in the upper deck.
Lego Nathannator:

You, who stay and cheer…

…until the final out.
Lego Stewie:

The Minnesota Twins salute each and every one of you.
Lego Gardy:

Thank you Twins fans.

*smiles* I love that ad.
Not to sound too cheesy or anything, but thanks to Team Batgirl for making even the sucky bits of the '05 season fun. I just wish I had found this place sooner!
Posted by: FordHoiberg at October 2, 2005 11:20 PMThis is what real fandom is...to the very last day.
Thanks for a great season Batgirl and Batgang.
Okay, so I got a bit teary eyed reading that....and I giggled. :)
Thank you Batgirl (and Jeb and Sooz and Goober and BatMom and BatDad) for everything you've done. These last two years...I've enjoyed coming to your site every day after a Twins win or a Twins loss. When we win, it's fun to see what you have to say. And when we lose, coming here is what cheers me up.
So, thank you :)
Posted by: Candace at October 2, 2005 11:32 PMThank you, Batgirl and Team Batgirl, for all the sass. 140 days until pitchers and catchers...
Posted by: ndtf at October 2, 2005 11:37 PMWe'll get 'em next year, boys...
Posted by: Ryan at October 3, 2005 12:16 AMAnd to think, they set their minds to something and got it accomplished. Congratulations Twins, you may not have made the playoffs but you can still hold your heads high knowing that you finished with a winning record.
You can reclaim your true place next year. It will not be easy, the AL central is looking to become some sort of three headed beast that may accidentally eat itself alive, but I believe that it can be done. The pitching staff barely needs touching other than the promotion of Liriano and Baker into the rotation. The lineup is of a different concern, though we will have a healthy Torii and Shannon which should help a lot. Maybe we can add a solid bat or two (Righties please) to help the m&m boys see some better pitches to swat all over the field.
The balance of power in the MLB is slowly shifting to the heartland and we must keep up with this shift. If we can do this, there will be a lot more fun in the years to come and hopefully some rings and a couple more flag-studded trophies to adorn the front office.
Posted by: TwinsInBoston at October 3, 2005 01:01 AMNo...Thank you Team Batgirl!! From the '05 DVD to all the great Legovision!!! Thanks for being a huge bright spot this season!!
Posted by: Rah at October 3, 2005 01:10 AMMy comment got erased.
I forgot what I said, but I think it had something to do with how much lego doctor looks like real doctor. hehe.
Thanks Team BG for all the laughs you bring!
Posted by: Stacy at October 3, 2005 01:27 AMBG, you're the absolute best.
Posted by: CarrieICL at October 3, 2005 06:16 AMThank you, Team Batgirl! You've been there for the sucking time, and the good times. Yes, there were even some of the latter this year. There was the beginning of the year; there was the sweep of the Bitch Sox; there was this weekend. But Team Batgirl is writing top-notch sass regardless.
Posted by: Nick at October 3, 2005 06:48 AMI want to thank Team Batgirl for keeping me coming back and especially her worshipfulness, the SHC herself for making me stop hating the Twins for 1991 (especially game 7... rrrrRRRRRrrrr! ok, breathe... ).
And thanks to the Batlings for allowing an interleague interloper to join in all your reindeer games ;-)
I'll almost definitely still be in Florida come spring training so if you guys organize any kind of group sojourn to any games, I'd love to join you!
rrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrr! Chuck you, Knoblick, I'm glad playing for the Yankess destroyed your ability to make a simple throw to first... or play outfield... ok, breathe...
ok, I gotta admit, the guy could be pretty clutch sometimes.
Anyway... be well.
Posted by: let's go mets at October 3, 2005 07:13 AMAw. Thanks to Team Batgirl, all you Batlings, and the Twins. Can't wait for next year and enjoyed this season (with this site's help) even with all the trucking buck-ness.
Did you see this in the Strib article about the game by La Velle Neal? "Jones opted not to play Sunday, worried that it might be too emotional." Aw man, I'm really gonna miss Jacque if he's not back next season. That's the rough part of the offseason.
And then there was the news that El Presidente has pitched his last few outings with "with soreness in his right rib cage/hip area." Is it okay if I give Johan a (gentle) hug? (He always looks so worried while in the dugout during the games he pitches, I always want to say "there, there Johan" and give him a big hug).
(From this article: http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/5647076.html )
Where to even start. Emotions are high at the end of the season, no matter what! Even though it wasn't the season we all wanted, it is still Twins baseball, and I will miss it dearly. Now what to do till Spring?
Thanks for a great summer BG, and thanks for the laughs!
Until Next year!!!

Posted by: Tamile at October 3, 2005 08:09 AMI woke up this morning, and it seemed like a million years since last Friday when I woke up for work. The difference is that last Friday, I was looking forward to a weekend of baseball, and now that is done.
Thank you Batgirl and Jeb and Sooz and Goober and BatMom and BatDad and BatKitties three. Without you, the season would've seemed a little less bright.
We finished with a winning record! We ended knowing that we won the last game we played!

Posted by: Just Beth at October 3, 2005 08:11 AMThree cheers to Team Batgirl!!! Without your hard and brilliant efforts I never would have made it through the season. Thanks to you I've enjoyed this season more than any other since '91. War Dr. Morneau in '06, the Bitch Sox getting put down quickly in the ALDCS, and Pohlad opening his checkbook at Christmas time for a RH slugger!
Posted by: JaerBesan at October 3, 2005 08:49 AMI agree with your comment JustBeth! I was so excited Friday morning because of all THREE games that I still had left. Now today it seems like the world is different ~ What to do until spring?? 139 days 'til Pitchers and Catchers, 91 'til Twins Fest...it won't seem too long I hope!
Thank you BatGirl for a great season, even though it wasn't all we had hoped for. Your site always seems to make everything better :)
Way to go Shan for BOY!
Ah I tip my cap to you team batgirl - just what I needed on a bad Monday!
Muchas Gracias for a fabulous season of batling fun and sassiness
See you soon =)

Thank you batgirl for another great season! I am going to miss your BODs and legos. Thanks for the laughs last month. They really meant a lot. Have a great winter!
Posted by: sheenie at October 3, 2005 09:53 AMEven though the Twins didn't make it to the playoffs, I still had a great time this season -- thanks in large part to Batgirl. Posted by: k-bro at October 3, 2005 09:55 AMDear Team Batgirl:
Thank you for a wonderful season of laughs, tears and plenty of sass (and ass, too much of the latter, at least in regards to the bats).
Here's my formula for success:
1) Sign Konerko and Belliard.
2) win the division.
I'll be checking in periodically from my winter home in Havana.
From your emotionally distraught fellow fan,
Tony Boliva.
Thanks Team BG!
Posted by: MGB at October 3, 2005 10:05 AMthank you, Batgirl! this season's been fun.
I'm both sad and excited to see all the changes in the offense for next season.
I'm just glad that the final game this year contained a wonderful Lew moment: 2nd inning, Lew on first, Rivas hit one to center that looked like it could drop... but it didn't, and Lew had to scramble back... and in the process of twisting and turning to race back to first, he ran right out of his shoe! LEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!
Posted by: kafumbly at October 3, 2005 10:09 AMDear BatGirl,
Does a larger/higher-resolution version of the "This is Legovision Territory" postcard exist? I think it would make a great desktop wallpaper.
Thanks,

Batgirl,
You and the BatFamily are something special.
To Jeb... who became Dr. J this year
And Goober... who came out from under the table from time to time.
For BatMom... with her wisdom about things that had nothing to do with baseball.
And BatDad... who attended all of those volleyball matches that helped shape Batgirl.
To the BatKitties... who made me care about cats other than my own.
And the Posters... who embraced and encouraged Batgirl and allowed RD to be RD when help was needed from the BatPen.
And to Batgirl herself... for creating a community and friendships, both virtual and real life, that have gone beyond anything that could have been imagined on that spring day in 2004 when she e-mailed me with these 4 magic words: "I started a blog..."
Thank you, Team Batgirl
Posted by: RonDavis at October 3, 2005 11:27 AMYay Team BG! and kafumbly, i saw that too, it was so funny! and then rivas wiped out a couple innings later... oh twins, i will miss these moments
Posted by: Hannah! at October 3, 2005 11:34 AMThank you, Batgirl and Team. What a beautiful and wondrous parallel universe you've created here, which has often been far superior to the real and actual one.
Posted by: kw at October 3, 2005 11:53 AMBefore I'm completely overcome by baseball deprivation I want to take this opportunity to say thanks Batgirl. Your sassy posts took some of the sting out of the year of the assbats. Stay safe and well.

BTW, I looked in the TC Marathon section of today's paper under the Gs and didn't see Goober's name, but there was some guy in a suit who finished at 4:47:39. Was that Goober by chance? If so, congratulations - not bad for an old guy.

The Strib reports that Goober finished 12th among all runners whose names begin with U.
Thank you for a great season, Batgirl!
Thank you SOOOO very much for something to get excited about in the baseball world.
As an Mariner's Fan in the Seattle area, it has been wonderful to share in your troubles and imagination of your oh-so-similar team.
Batgirl you are a good and funny writter and your recaps have been just wonderful. Thank you very much.
See you next year!
Mark
Thanks for asking about the marathon. It went very well! I had no real physical problems throughout, and (except for the humidity) it couldn't have been a nicer day. It is really one of the best events in the Twin Cities -- makes me happy to be a Minnesotan to see so many friendly and helpful people along the route. Now that it's done, the biggest drawback is that I can't eat so many Blizzards anymore (starting next week). Thanks to everyone for the good vibes!
Posted by: Goober at October 3, 2005 04:14 PMBatgirl / Team Batgirl -
Thanks for a great season.
You never gave up or just went through the motions.
You never failed to live up to expectations.
You showed up every day (except for weekends and your humanitarian trips - but your team was there to pick you up - they didn't leave you stranded).
You made a disappointing season entertaining.
I look forward to 2006 - the season as well as the musical.
Much love and mad props to you, as usual, BG.
Thanks for keeping us laughing when we really, REALLY wanted to cry.

Have had a great time reading you every chance I get. Didn't think I could enjoy Twins baseball more than I already did but you guys have changed that. Can't wait til next year!
And despite the rivalry with the BiSox, I hope they win it all. AL Central deserves some respect. Besides, BoSox won it last year, LAA is as boring a team as you can find, can't possibly root for the Evil Empire or anyone on the Senior Circuit (ok, maybe the Astros) so that leaves AJ and Co.

Posted by: BadAndy48 at October 3, 2005 07:08 PMBG and Team, great work this year. Your writings and the community they've engendered have made my life a better (and wackier - see in the BatCave) one, and for that I am sincerely grateful.
Posted by: AT at October 3, 2005 07:10 PMThanks so much batgirl and fam...I just found this site this year and will for sure chaeck back next year for more.... Just wanted to remind anyone of a few of my favorite highlights from this year...
-Joe Mauer biffing it when running full speed(rounding first)
-Jacque Jones Touchdown throw that I believe went into the stands
-AJ throwing his bat towards the twins dugout when he got hit
-LEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW's cool shirt (one cool Daddy-O), I swear he wore it to every appearance
-Being on TV with my circle me bert signs like 5 times, and being in the winner's circle once(we got 72 dollars)
-meeting stelz at the autograph party...ok I also enjoyed meeting mauer, nathan, rincon, punto, and silva, but stelz was wearing a hawaiian shirt:)
-sitting on the bullpen and watching my favorite players warm up.
....ok ok there were so many...I also enjoyed Lew losing his shoe yesterday, it was awesom to see Santana one last time in person...
Boyz, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, for one awesome season, please rest up over the offseason, and come back full speed next year. I will be a Twins fan for life, but it is awesome to beat the bitch sox!!! They are sore losers!!!
I will miss team batgirl as much as Johan Santana this offseason. Thanks for keeping my head up when the twins were down! I know next year will be lots of fun, no matter what happens.
Posted by: Bob at October 3, 2005 07:53 PMThe Twins may have been 83-79, but BG was 162-0.

Posted by: BD at October 3, 2005 08:05 PMTeam Batgirl,
Thanks for making the 2005 season so awesome. I still watch Oh Five! on a weekly basis. With that in mind, will there be another musical? I loves me some musicals.
Lots of Love,
Hannah
Does anyone happen to have access to the "Highlight Reel" I know they showed sometime during this weekend? I wasn't able to see any of the games ( =( ) this weekend due to having to attend a funeral way outside of "Twins Territory." I love the reel because it makes me smile, cry, and laugh all at once. Just wondering if any of you great Twins fans happened to have it somewhere. Thanks so much!!

Posted by: goesboom at October 3, 2005 10:26 PMWhat more can be said? This season was disappointing in the end, but it was so much better because of you, Team Batgirl. Or, in the words of Lew Fordwalker, "BatGirl.com was totally like +8 potion all season long."
I have never been so excited for spring training, all because of BG, Team Batgirl, and all you Batlings. Thank you all!

Posted by: jesseh at October 4, 2005 01:06 PMJesseH-
Actually, just east of Moorhead on I-94, there is a huge "Twins Territory" billboard. I smiled every time I drove past it this summer. Besides, Twins Territory expands beyond the Minnesota borders.
I just saw the Lego tip your hat-about the funniest thing I have seen. Thanks for cheering my gray day. Found this site only recently-will be back. Good job.
Posted by: LindaT at October 4, 2005 04:10 PMDear BG-
So many wonderful thank yous. I will add mine, A new reader at the beginning of this year. Your site enhanced my enjoyment of baseball so very much--humor and sass blend well with the game. And we needed some humor in '05. Oh we had our moments (sweeping the Bitch Sox on their field, for example). And then we had moments, oy vey (ass bats a plenty).
Well we all have our hopes for '06 including looking forward to a new musical, perhaps, to get us ready for April 4th.
So a quick wish list:
-2 quick and talented hitters (someone said we need right handed ones--ok, sure)
-Healthy and happy pitchers
-Torii
-Most of our bullpen back
-a well-rested Gardy
-A DH who doesn't know about ass-bats
new untainted bats
-All of you ready to do the season together again
cheers,
kal
