Chacarron.
Posted by: Hannah (the second) at September 17, 2005 09:46 PMOh sure, the game I couldn't go to. Trucking spit!
Posted by: Mr. Juche at September 17, 2005 10:04 PMand why was this game not TELEVISED????? There have been too many day games that don't get on t.v. WHY?
Many have Supernatural pitching. It makes me bitching mad that I can only hear about the sitting down of the bitches. Ya, I could have attended the game but we were hosting a neighborhood thing, sigh.
The comic was mucho bueno.
Oh, I was at the Friday night game. One run wonder night. sigh.
But today--excellent!
cheers, kal
Posted by: kal at September 17, 2005 10:24 PMAhhh the wonders of comic recaps. Just trying to do my part to bring the magic of non-televised games to the rest of Twins Territory :D.
More to come this year yet. I've found my spark again :)
Posted by: DhruvK at September 17, 2005 11:25 PMKal, I think you're shooting for 'muy bueno'. Normally not a big deal, but us Batling are probably gonna have to lead the international diplomatic efforts since our Presidente has such a hardline stance on negotiating.
Posted by: Will at September 17, 2005 11:39 PMTo: Will
Si. And mucho gracias (sheeesh I hope i got this one right!). That one year of Espanol leaves me on thin Spanish ice.
Are you referring to Mr. I-like-vacations-best Bush?
or El Presidente pitcher perfecto?
I assume the twit from Texas, yes?
Sincerely,
ENGLISH major kal
I was talking about El Presidente. While my comments may have also been applicable to the Presidente, I would never introduce politics into such an amiable place such as here. The comment about his hardline stance on negotiating was in reference to his stubborn-headedness in regards to the "Sit down, bitch" party line.
Anyway, that's enough political analogies.
Any, by the way, it's muchas gracias. My four years of Spanish did me too much good. I once managed to find my way around a little Italian town by speaking to a nice old lady in Spanish, while she picked up bits and pieces of what I said and relayed her message in Italian, where I'd pick up the bits and pieces similar enough to Spanish. That's about as useful as my Spanish has been for me in my life so far.
Posted by: Will at September 18, 2005 12:40 AMgreat work, DhruvK!
Posted by: kafumbly at September 18, 2005 01:26 AMis it just me or is anyone else watching the white sox shrinking lead as the Indians chase them down with a wry smile? Best record in the AL still but looking very vulnerable.
Posted by: Dan in London at September 18, 2005 03:51 AMDan in London - Yes, the White Sox cannot afford to rest on their laurels just yet. They still have six games left with the Indians.
As for our Twins, I can only try to enjoy the rest of the season and hope that they find a way to completely exorcise the ass-bats away during the few remaining games. Yesterday's game is a potent reminder of how easily they can win if they just get a little offense going.
Posted by: BadAndy48 at September 18, 2005 07:51 AMoh so cool DruhvK.
And as a side note, the blue blob in the nathan picture is so me.
Posted by: aurora at September 18, 2005 09:27 AMthey just don't stop bitching! yep, Gardy invented Johan's blister and split fingernail. I've linked in my name a Chicago Sun-Times article:
Santana... apparently was giving a blister on his left hand time to heal.
...
It wouldn't be surprising to hear there wasn't a blister problem after all. The way Santana has handled the Sox lately, the prudent thing to do would have been to put the left-hander on hold for a few days.
Posted by: kafumbly at September 18, 2005 09:30 AMkal, blame the lack of television on (a) the Gophers or (b) the unwillingness of Minnesota statesmen and stateswomen to help get new stadiums built. Since they needed time to convert from baseball to football for the Gopher game last night, gametime was 11am... which dropped the game smack in to the middle of the time frame that FOX has "exclusive" television rights to show MLB games on the tube. Nobody gets on television opposite FOX Saturday games.
Posted by: JimCrikket at September 18, 2005 11:01 AMComic recap better than none, but I remain a true fan of Lego-vision reinactments.
Posted by: Sandee at September 18, 2005 11:35 AMJohan's previous start clearly showed that he was having physical issues. Heck, if they wanted to move him back just to face the Bitches, Gardy should've just said, "We're going to rest Johan a few extra days because we love watching him sit down one Bitch after another."
Posted by: Nick at September 18, 2005 11:51 AMAnother 2-1 loss.
At least the Twins players can take some solace in the fact that they aren't Vikings.
Posted by: JimCrikket at September 18, 2005 05:13 PMTwins had a very good chance of scoring more then the Vikes today by scoring just 1. That is sad.
Posted by: Nora at September 18, 2005 05:46 PMNewsbit for Sunday's game:
Pierzynski, a regular in Minnesota's lineup for three seasons through 2003, forgot for a moment which team he plays for after getting hit in the third. He flipped his bat toward the home dugout before realizing his mistake and advancing to first with a slight smirk. "Something that would only happen to me," Pierzynski said.
Posted by: Pander at September 18, 2005 09:36 PMHmmm...I've missed the last five days of baseball, but it sounds like I missed a beauty of a game. And my boyfriend went and hit a home run, and I wasn't there to cheer. I hope he'll forgive me and hit a few more now that I'm back.
Excellent comic, DhruvK!
Posted by: Just Beth at September 18, 2005 09:46 PMOh, yeah, AJ's mistake was rather priceless, especially because the home plate ump seemed to be a bit steamed at him for a second before it was explained. He was holding AJ back from retrieving it, almost as if he was expecting a brawl (seeing as it was just after he'd been hit with a pitch). Hilarious. Not to mention very smooth.
Posted by: FordHoiberg at September 18, 2005 09:54 PMThis game was mysteriously not broadcast in Chicago, either, much to my frustration. It was my birthday! It was nice of Johan to pitch a shut-out in honor, but could I at least get to see it?
I mean, was the previous night's Canadian Football League game really more compelling?
I suspect a Chicago conspiracy to cover up how badly the Sox can't hit El Presidente.
