B.O.D.

With all due respect to the defensive prowess of Lew Ford and Shannon Stewart, and the offensive boom boom of Jacque Jones, there's really no doubt:

Posted by: Donnalove at August 23, 2005 09:21 PM

Only through the wonders of El Presidente can we get one hit and still win.

Thank you, Santa Santana. Thank you.

*bursts into tears* I am overwraught!

We are now 2 games back of NYY and CLE for the Wild Card.

Posted by: Torhu at August 23, 2005 09:23 PM

God, that was incredible. INCREDIBLE.
Any BOD choice would have been the right one. This one, sublime.

Hallelujah, I think that your prayer is working overtime Bat-Girl! See, I got tickets to see Weezer today as a present, and I am very excited, except I don't really like that Beverly Hills song. . . but whatever! Go Twins! Go El Presidente, and Little Sweetcheeks 'cause I think he's got his boom boom stick back again!

THe lead is now into single digits! 4 down, 9 to go. Lets keep this roll going!

Great game El Presidente! Way to win the pitcher's deul of the year. And nice shot JJ!

Get well soon Stewie!

VIVA TONY GWYNN!!!

Biggest contract in team history.

Worth every penny.

Posted by: neutrino boi at August 23, 2005 09:37 PM

Some were talking about wanting a copy of the game.

For those with fast internet connection (read: do not do this if you are on dial-up) the site you go to by clicking on my name will offer you the chance to download the entire game tomorrow for $3.95.

Not a bad deal, and something I will be doing.

Posted by: Eric at August 23, 2005 09:38 PM

Sorry, Torhu, but the racist toons and damned Yankees also won, so the Twins are still 2.5 games back. Oakland has moved very quickly from first to third place in the hunt, but the Twins are still in 4th.

We need the toons to lose a few.

Posted by: Kurtis at August 23, 2005 09:49 PM

I recited Tony Gwynn's prayer aloud during the ninth inning tonight.

Tony Gwynn is with us.

Posted by: CarrieICL at August 23, 2005 09:52 PM

Kurtis:
None of the teams ahead of us really worry me right now. We get our crack at both the Indians and A's, The A's seem to be fading, and the Yankees will hit a roadblock playing against the Red Sox and D-Rays. As long as we can keep this up through the end of the year, which is extremely possible since it doesnt seem like the Twins are on fire so to say, theyre just playing the way they should, getting a few hits scoring 3-4 runs and relying on the pitching that has been unbelievable the last couple months. They just need to keep having fun and play some baseball.

We're Gonna Win Twins!

I apologize if this has already been posted...but if you haven't had a listen to The Hawk's new hit, "Strap It Down," you're really missing out.

For those downloading the game, what do you use to play it?

Posted by: Torhu at August 23, 2005 10:06 PM

Again, it will be available tomorrow.

RealOnePlayer or Windows Media Player 9 will play the file. Both are free to download if you need to update.

Posted by: Eric at August 23, 2005 10:08 PM

Sounds good.

And that site was great. I love the "STOCKPHOTO.COM" slapped across some of those pics.

Posted by: Torhu at August 23, 2005 10:09 PM

Dear Batgirl,
I have to say, that was the most exciting game I have been to!! I was screaming the entire 9th inning!! Wow!! Torii was there in the form of Lew and Stew tonight, and El Presidente was SUPERNATURAL tonight!!! Congrats JJ on finding his boom-boom stick!! (sidenote) I'm new to posting, but I have followed this blog for a long time, best one I have seen yet!!!

Posted by: mas at August 23, 2005 10:43 PM

We yelled Siddown beotch! at one of the batters, and the lady in front of us sat down.

Apologies and explanations were made.

Posted by: aurora at August 23, 2005 10:49 PM

I was there tonight with my 8-year-old son. Told him he saw the second-best game I'd ever seen, and he's only 8. Best game I ever saw was Game 7, 1991 Series.

Dear Mr. Karl,

BG refuses to even acknowlege those who would use the word "gay" as a some kind of putdown. Idiots and homophobes do not need to spoil our day. Come back to the light.

Sincerely,
BG

VIVA EL PRESIDENTE!!!!

I like the way you think, TwinsInBoston. In any case, this late season surge has at least made the season fun again.

I also like the way you think, Batgirl.

Posted by: Kurtis at August 23, 2005 11:12 PM

Dear all-

most has been said already but it is such a delight to gush on the bat-girl site:

I love this game, the Twins, Johan Johan Johan, JJ, Stewie, Joe of Nathan, LLEEEWWW, and the entire team Twins. What a terrific night of pitching and one great hit. It's been uttered before, "I don't smoke but I think I need a cigarette after that one!"

Love to all,

kal

p.s. to "Donnalove:" Don't go to stupid school!
(I know, cheap joke)

Posted by: kal at August 23, 2005 11:38 PM

This was an historic moment in baseball and we are all truly blessed for having witnessed it. Stewy, Lewy, Johan and Jaque are all to be commended. This was a great effort.

I am so happy that I was there in the Dome, immersed in the shining beacon of hotness that is Johan Santana. Also, he told me in my dream last night that he'd be sitting bitches down. That dream rocked.

Posted by: aussie at August 24, 2005 12:43 AM

ESPN says that this is just the fourth time a pitcher has given up just one hit and lost the game. I feel very privledged having been to the game. I gotta thank Bert Blyleven and Dick Bremer; in the post-game show Sunday, they said that this would be a great game, and that everyone should come down to the Dome to see it in person. I listened, and I have no regrets. Possibly the greatest game I've ever been to. There was just a different feel in the Dome tonight than I've ever felt there before. Excellent.

Posted by: FPM2K at August 24, 2005 12:49 AM

This was an obvious BOD. When a master shows off his skills like that, he deserves all honors that come to him.

Posted by: Just Beth at August 24, 2005 08:14 AM

See, when I read about the game, I thought that Mr. Jones and Me would surely be the BOD but yeah, I can definitely see a case for El Presidente but I'm not allowed to argue with the BODSHC.

Even so, I'll bet that jabroney Freddy Garcia was able to smell what the Jacque was cooking... heh, sorry, I stopped liking wrestling when I was like 13 (and back then the Rock himself was only 16) but I couldn't pass that one up. Anyway, yeah, JJ sure knows a thing or two about doing things in style! I mean it doesn't get scripted any better as far as high-quality baseball entertainment goes (at least for Twins fans)... The Bitch Sox are in town and their ace is on the bump. He takes a no-no bid all the way into the eighth inning when hometown homeboy busts it up by capitalizing on the one craptastic pitch the guy makes all game. Had it been just a base hit, it would have been satisfying enough that the no-hitter had become undone- you know, "not in MY house you don't". But this was a home run, which also negated the possibility of a shutout and would also be pretty satisfying. But baseball being the poetic art it truly is, even that wasn't enough, for The Twins also had their ace out there, behaving as aces do and that solo shot wound up being the only run scored in the entire game.

As Twins fans, you're obviously thrilled with the game as it turned out but give me your opinions- was it perfect the way it went down or would it have been more delicious to have done it in Chicago so that all those Bitch Sox fans would be wailing, tearing their robes and gnashing their teeth in the aisles of Comiskey?

Heh... I love that... "Sit down, bitch". Both BG's as well as aurora's versions.

And sillyson- while I fart in the general direction of the outcome of Game 7, 1991 WS, I will give you the fact that yes, that was a ridiculously amazing game. Plus, if it had to be anyone beating the Braves that year, I'm glad it was the Twins, that *other* worst-to-first team appearing in said contest ;-)

Best of luck down the stretch to your boys and I pray that my boys meet you at the finish line!

Chacaron.

Indeed it was like watching fine art last night. I bow down to the greatness that is Johan K.K.K.K.K.K.K. Santana, you could bring Mozart or Monet to tears with what you did out there.

Bravo! Bravo!

Posted by: HooliganKat at August 24, 2005 08:33 AM

Santana... that was so fabulous! i'm so glad i went to that game instead of going today. and jacque, thank you so much for (a) actually getting a hit and (b) not getting hurt as an outfielder. you are my runner up BOD!
