B.O.D.

My dear readers,

While Matthew LeCroy has proved himself a worthy BOD candidate the last two days, Batgirl has discovered that he hits more homers when he's trying to be BOD, and she fears that if she gives it to him, he'll only become complacent and stop hitting homers. And frankly, BG likes it when he hits homers--it's so, well, so DH of him. Anyway, while Matty's dinger was all well and good, it's not like he went 4 for 5 and delivered the death blow or something. Mmmm....death blow. Stewie's been battling a long slump, but today he showed his bat is back, making Batgirl very happy and giving Stewie the highly coveted Boyfriend of the Day.

Sincerely,
BG

Field/Readers 17, Sooz/Stewie 13, Jeb/Lewwww 11, Batgirl/ Joe 9, Goober/Dr. Morneau 7.

Yeah, 4-5 with a run and 2 RBIs is a pretty good case no matter how you slice it. I admit I was pulling for Matty, but Stewie totally deserves props. *rummages through bag*. Here, Stewie, your props.

You can't argue results :)

No argument. Great game for Stew and many others. When we get a good performance on the mound out of Mssr Mays, it's cool to put up some crooked numbers on the board and pick up another W!

Good job Stewie. Great job Twins. Let's keep it up!

Congratulations, Stewie and Sooz. It was a beautiful performance tonight.

That Abernathy fella keeps hitting like he has been, he's going to have to get some BOD attention too.

Posted by: JimCrikket at August 18, 2005 10:10 PM

after the early innings, I thought Gary Darling might earn unofficial B.O.D. status... but then, I was looking at it from the Seattle POV :)

Posted by: msb at August 18, 2005 10:37 PM

beautiful work, Stewie! I thoroughly enjoyed your performance tonight. keep up the good work.

(Abernathy got #1 star on 'CCO. he's sure been kickin' some ass! gosh, if I didn't already have a hundred boyfriends, I might have to add him to my list...)

LOL. I wonder how many others get the reference.

Just saw SportsCenter and they showed Beltre attacking Franklin, the Seattle pitcher, in the dugout between innings. I didn't see the game on TV tonight... anyone know what the story was?

Posted by: JimCrikket at August 18, 2005 11:10 PM

According to the Seattle papers, Franklin was in the dugout venting his frustrations. First, the M's had failed to score with the bases loaded in the top of the 1st; then in the bottom of the inning he felt his infielders had missed a chance to turn a double play on Morneau; then Franklin gave up the homer to LeCroy. So he was upset, but it got to the point where his pitching coach, Bryan Price, told him, enough is enough. That sparked an argument between those two, and somehow Beltre got in the middle of it. (Maybe words were said about Beltre popping out with the bases loaded, I don't know.) That's the official story, and they're sticking to it.

Btw, the mystery of what exactly Lew did to piss off Gardy last week has been revealed by my good friend Sid:

"When Ford reached the bench, he asked Gardenhire why he was bunting with the slow-footed Matthew LeCroy on second base. Gardy blew his top, ordered Ford off the field and benched him the next day.

"I'm managing this team, not you," Gardenhire said he told Ford. "I will decide what we do.""

Ice: I know it, can you name the episode where it's "Victory is ours!"?

Ah, Lew Ford... what would we do without you or LNP? You two add so much character to the team.

Is there a nickname for Abernathy yet? He's gotta be close to earning a full time starting position.

Congrats Stewie. Anyone notice that the Twins resurgance seemed to be timed with Stewie coming out of his slump?

I have to say good call on that Batgirl. Keep em coming Matty! Welcome back Stewie!

T.I.B.
I've been calling Abernathy "Abby". It's just easier...

Posted by: ForMorneau at August 19, 2005 08:22 AM

I've got it!! It's roid rage! Franklin has roid rage!

Posted by: ForMorneau at August 19, 2005 08:24 AM

Stewie was most deserving as BOD.

I've been calling Abernathy "Lil Abner"

I think it is roid rage coming from Franklin. I was lucky enough to be bestowed the company seats last night and sat on top of the Seattle dugout and man alive everytime he came off the field it looked like he was going to hurt someone.

wig, I read that article this morning as well... and I couldn't help but think "He was only asking you the same question EVERYONE watching the game wanted to ask!" Ah well.. bygones.

As for Abernathy, I'm going to show my age again but when I hear his name, all I think of is to call him "Ralph".

Posted by: JimCrikket at August 19, 2005 09:43 AM

When I'm watching Abernathy play, somehow I don't immediately think of a black minister. :)

I like Li'l Abner. Little Nicky Punto has been needing a Li'l Friend. I also like that when L-Rod pinch hit for Abernathy last night, Li'l Abner was on his feet, smiling and clapping, after L-Rod slid into 1st base to hustle out an infield single. Good teammate, and he's been swinging a hot bat. I think we might like to bring this guy back next year.
