Good choice. Because Joe M caught (checking scorecard) Millar stealing -- that was when I knew the Twins would win. Also because he was 1-4 but got the 1 with the bases loaded. If you're going to get one hit in a game, that's when you oughta get it.

So two wins. Does that mean we have broken the slump? *knocks on wood*

Wow a cmeback from 3 down and winning a 1 run game. amazing. Good job guys, esp big Joe. I'm glad we have you and not prior

huh. thought it would be Lew... but yay Chairman!

Posted by: kafumbly at August 6, 2005 11:33 PM

I don't know. He bunted with a guy on second and one out. Every coach I ever had said this is beyond stupid.

Posted by: Mr. Juche at August 6, 2005 11:35 PM

That was a fun game to listen to. And BG, I'll be sure to bring some peach pie for you next time I'm in the neighborhood.

We speculated at the bar after the game that it would be Lew, but I had forgotten that Chairman's hit was with the bases loaded. Good choice, as always!

Mr. Juche, he was bunting for a base hit. And he HAD that hit, only to have it taken away by the ump. And in case anyone was concerned, I did my very best to express my feelings toward said ump.

We all thought it would be Lew. huh.

Posted by: aurora at August 7, 2005 12:58 AM

Mauer shook off the Curse of the Loaded Bases to start the Twins comeback, and thus had a greater impact on the outcome of the game than Lew. I say, good choice.

I don't understand, however, why he is giving hitting instruction to a milk bottle. Is that an inside joke?

Posted by: frightwig at August 7, 2005 04:28 AM

I might not be big now but I'm drinking my milk and someday....

ya know, I was just thinking and I realized that if the yankees' manager's daughter married a certain injured centerfielder, Mrs. Torii Hunter would be Mrs. Torre-Hunter.

Tell that to Torii's mechanic friend and his freaking head might explode... but he'd give you good advice ;-)

Lew made some more great defensive plays last night. snagged a few balls to keep guys from getting extra bases. I was pleased! plus, he went 2-for-4, stole a base, and scored a run.

but yes, bases loaded hits are HOT. thank you, Chairman.

Posted by: kafumbly at August 7, 2005 09:03 AM

yeah for Joe!! Last night really was a tough call for BOD. Our boys ALL played with their hearts and work to advance on the moral highground again.

Hats off to BG for providing a little clarity in what is really a jumbled "oh man, I love my Twins!" mind...

Um........

Why, may I ask, is Joe M. humping a Grip 'n' Go?

Posted by: CarrieICL at August 7, 2005 10:36 AM

Dear Mr Wig and Ms ICL,

Mr. Mauer frequently advertises the Grip n' Go on 'CCO.

Helpfully,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at August 7, 2005 11:12 AM

And he advertises it so enthusiastically, as well! He doesn't sound AT ALL bored, embarrassed or forced... "'Make Land o'Lakes milk your hometown favorite...' Why are you making me do this. WHY?? I thought you liked me! Is this some sort of hazing thing? My friends are listening, for crying out loud! I'll never live this down!!"

Posted by: LaurieNY at August 7, 2005 11:28 AM

Yes, but why does his advertising of Grab 'n' Go necessitate molestation of the bottle, I'm wondering?

Posted by: CarrieICL at August 7, 2005 12:56 PM

Dear Ms. ICL,

He's teaching it to BAT!

Sincerely,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at August 7, 2005 01:08 PM

Whatever you say, BG. Whatever you say.

Posted by: CarrieICL at August 7, 2005 01:23 PM

well, if Joe doesn't teach the Grip'n'Go to bat, then who will?!

Posted by: kafumbly at August 7, 2005 07:18 PM

Just be glad it wasn't Mike Redmond helping that thing with batting practice, a'ight?

Posted by: let's go mets at August 8, 2005 07:16 AM

(because then it might have been called Grope-n-Go)

Posted by: let's go mets at August 8, 2005 07:18 AM
