Gardy kind of over-reacted about the whole deal, but I still love him. The ump was wrong on the chairman's hight, he's six foot four not three, but I won't be picky here. I'm glad Gardy apologized, now we can get back to the game we know and love.

It is important to note that Gardy has a long history with Wendelstedt. He made some horrid calls in an early September Bitch Sox series in '03, the taste of which is still in Batgirl's mouth.

Wow....this is seriously entertaining. The way Gardy went about it wasn't right, but I can totally totally understand why he went off like that. I don't care for Wendelstedt either. I groan and throw my hands up in frustration whenever he's the ump for our games.

I'd like to add that it was quite amusing listening to Nick curse Wendelstedt through the whole game on Monday. [just listened to the clip] heh... wow. Nick wasn't quite as bad as Gardy, though. you go, Gardy!

Nick's comments in 214 about Wendelstedt were amusing. Gardy topped that. The way Gardy went about his complaining was wrong, but in the heat of the moment, we don't all always think the wisest. At least he recognized it was wrong and apologized. Wendelstedt's never going to like us, but it would be nice if he could play fair.

I have more love for Gardy after finally hearing the tirade, and I have a whole new respect for Gardy's wife. I can only imagine the steam still coming out of his ears when he got home.

I can't help but giggle though. . .Poor Gardy, he's done nothing but battle the Umps and he gets so worked up. I bet he's got Bob Watson's number on speed dial.

I don't know what I love Gardy more for - the well deserved tirade or his willingness to take one for the team by making an apology he clearly was doing only out of pragmatic concern for the team.

Hunter Wendlestad. Remember that name folks. Treat him with all possible derision the next time he comes to the dome.

What can be done by fans to an umpire that is legal, not going to cause a forfeit and yet obnoxious, unnerving and even a little mean?

It's true, Gardy has made the tirade an art form. He's not quite up to the level of Bobby Knight, but if Wendelsteldt sticks around he may get there.

I didn't see any on TV, but the "Walks will haunt" guys were hilarious.

Unfortunately that would probably be unnerving to everyone, not just the umpire in question.

I sent the file to my dad at his work and he and all his co-workers gathered around to listen. He said he laughed his ass off the entire time. Nothing like a little rant to start off the workday...

Yes, HG... there was a guy wearing Bunny Ears about 5 rows in front of Kristie and I at the game last night. I figured that it was commentary on the Gardy/Ump commotion. *GRIN* And I enjoyed it immensely.

i think Gardy hit the nail on the head (although he could have left out a few swear words). the call was garbage, he baited him from the dugout, Gardy kept fairly cool (by his standards), and then got tossed. the ump baiting him and saying Gardy wanted showtime (im assuming that's true, considering how peeved Gardy is) is pretty unprofessional, so i dont blame him for being upset.

Batgirl, will you be starting a "trade rumors" comment section? we had one on a good roll yesterday. just wondering if you were going to start an official Batgirl one. unless you already have and i've missed it?

Well, it looks as if the Bitch Sox and the Twins share an undying enmity towards Hunter Wendelstedt. He just can't help but meddle in our division race by blowing calls for both our teams.

Maybe Ozzie and Gardy should get together on this?

How does he tick everyone off so? How many expletive filled rants can be directed towards Mr. Wendelstedt in one season? Ok. Maybe Oakland likes him, but that's about it.

I remember during the Yankees playoff series last fall, Gardenhire mentioned that he really liked one of the songs played over the PA system. I think it was "I Like the Way You Move" by Outkast.

Gardy has a little soul. He likes the nightlife. He loves to boogie. I think he would love the groovy dance beat.

I love the song...Gardy is great I love when managers get soo fired up...T.K. was never much for that, that is why I love Gardy!!
