This is a tough one. Protocol Droid Shannon Stewart, who is fluent in over six million forms of communication, had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while Luke Fordwalker had three hits, three runs, and one RBI. A nice performance by both, but I'm going to give it to Shannon, who smacked his ninth inning home run like he was bullseyeing womprats in his T-16 back home.
Field/Readers 8, Jeb/Lewwww 6, Sooz/ Stewie 5, Goober/Dr. Morneau 4, Batgirl/Joe 2.

Posted by: Luis Rodriguez at May 23, 2005 03:58 AMI was watching the game while running on the treadmill at the gym. I am pretty sure people thought I was crazy as I almost flew off the back jumping with excitement! Another big one from Stewie!
Posted by: Mic at May 23, 2005 07:38 AMThe scene: My parents' basement, with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th. Shannon Stewart comes up to bat, and I can't explain it, but I knew something good was going to happen. I could hear Gordo go nuts on the radio upstairs, and then after the 5-second delay on the satellite, Dick started shouting. I was jumping up and down and screaming, going completely nuts, knowing my parents were both doing the same thing in the tractors. After the game was over, I went out to the field to talk to them and they both started pumping their fists in the air when they saw me. My only problem with the game was that Lew did not get so much as a mention from Dazzle for Star of the Game.
Posted by: ndtf at May 23, 2005 08:21 AMTough call on the B.O.D. I'm glad I don't have to decide. Good job, Stewiw and Sooz!
ndtf-I noticed that Lewww was by-passed, too, by Dan and John for Star of the Game. I was irritated. And I thought Johan's performance should've counted for more than they gave it credit for.
Posted by: Just Beth at May 23, 2005 08:35 AMI don't know what Dazzle was watching, but I was there in Section 227 and even kept score, so I feel qualified to make my own judgment on the Stars of the Game.
Let me tell you, when the Brewers went up 4-1 in the 8th, people started for the exits; and it turned into a good stream when Morneau and Hunter struck out to kill the Twins rally in the bottom of the inning. I was pretty close to giving up myself when Nathan had the bases loaded & one out in the 9th. One more Brewers hit, and I was probably heading out. (It didn't help that Rincon and Nathan seemed to bring the pace of the game to a grinding halt, too.)
By the time the Twins batted in the bottom of the 9th, the crowd had thinned out to Brewers fans and the die-hard faithful supporters of the home team. Jacque's single and Lew's double to lead off were a nice little reward for those of us who stuck around, but we were still down by 2 runs with 2 outs when Stewart came to bat, and staring at the end of a really frustrating loss. Stewart singlehandedly changed everything there. So he's the #1 Star.
The #2 Star has to be Lewwwww! He hit a double and scored the first run of the game in the 3rd. He hit an RBI double and scored in the rally in the 9th. And he hit a triple to lead off the 11th and scored the winning run. How could Dazzle not even mention him?
The #3 Star is Johan. He had a no-hitter going for 5.2 innings (striking out 10 of the 17 outs, and all but one on swinging third strikes), and finished with a solid 7: 2 runs on 5 hits, 1 walk, 11 strikeouts. If it had been Radke, Dazzle and Bert would still be kissing his ass and crying about poor run support, halfway into his next start. For most of his outing, he was awesome. Around the 5th, I even let myself get a little excited thinking about seeing a no-hitter in progress. He looked like he could do it, right up to the abrupt shock of Brady Clark's homer.
