hello?
is anybody there?
if you can't hear me, say something!
something
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 05:49 PM...is it safe?
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 05:51 PMshhhh... I think there's a cougar in the corner.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 05:53 PMoh, crap. i'm scared of huge cats.
(ever since that little incident by my neighbors)
Then by all means surround it with all the catnip that you can find. 'Cause there's nothing safer than a stoned cougar, I always say.
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 05:57 PMCatnip? Someone needs catnip? My catnip plant is out of control. Free, fresh, organic catnip! Come and get it!
Posted by: infield at May 27, 2005 05:58 PMOnce again mlb.tv refuses to work. Thankfully I didn't pay for the whole season...
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 05:58 PMyou know, everybody on this website has a cat, used to have a cat, or is obsessed with cats?
doesn't anybody like dogs anymore?
hee I feel like I'm always the one who drags things off topic...
dogs are Satan's pets. Haven't you ever heard the phrase hounds of hell?
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 06:00 PMi'm so sorry.
i didn't mean to add a question mark on the end of that sentence.
please forgive me. i don't want to stir up another grammar discussion again.
kierra,
I like dogs. But I'm not going out at the crack of dawn in the depths of a Minnesota winter to walk one! Hence, I have only cats. :)
WHAT?!?!
i love my little bundle of energy.
he's so cute, and he never chokes on chicken bones.
Mark -- you may be able to get some money back for MLB.tv, i did the same thing last year (bought a month) and it was crapping out on me so they gave me my money back.
I currently have MLB radio and I like it a lot
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:02 PMmy cousin used to have this cat, and it was the grumpiest thing i've ever known.
compared to that, i'll take an everloving dog.
dogs and cats are both great to me, both have very different but admirable qualities
whats the saying....
For anyone to understand their true worth they must have a dog that adores them and a cat that ignores them....
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:04 PMtwinsfanCA- you should be a diplomat.
Posted by: kierra at May 27, 2005 06:05 PMTonight's lineup:
Stewart LF
Punto 2B
Ford DH
Morneau 1B
Hunter CF
Jones RF
Tiffee 3B
Redmond C
Castro SS
ALL RIGHT!! this is going absolutely great so far! keep it going, guys!
LNP, Stewie, you deserve a pat on the bat.
Another Vote for dogs, I have a weimaraner. Of course the virginia winters are not so bad :)
Posted by: NoVaNick at May 27, 2005 06:13 PMwow... another game for Redmond - which I assume means that Mauer isn't quite 100% yet. I have to give kudos to Redmond for his stamina. I think this is his 4th game in a row - all of them extra innings...
I would like to see some early runs - I agree with Bert.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at May 27, 2005 06:13 PMin the pregame gardy said he could pinch hit but isnt ready to run the bases, so he better just hit homeruns
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:14 PMI like just about all animals.. but my work schedule would just be cruel for a dog. My two cats can keep each other company since I am never home but a dog, well, it would need more attention.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at May 27, 2005 06:14 PMRATS!
Posted by: NoVaNick at May 27, 2005 06:17 PMOh dear. Bad K for Torii, and now it's up to JJ.
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:18 PMDYNOMITE! time for JJ. Cmon buddy we need something.
Posted by: NoVaNick at May 27, 2005 06:19 PMIn the interest of 'it could be worse', and noting that BG's motto is 'less stats' not 'no stats', I'll point out that Twins opponents are actually hitting worse with the bases loaded than the Twins are - in 25 tries, they've got three singles, one double, and two walks.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:20 PMthis futility with the bases loaded has gone way beyond rediculous
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:20 PMyipes! tuning in to *another* bases loaded situation! be still my beating heart!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:21 PMyes, Sir, Mr. Jones!!!
and no bases-loaded jinx either... That feels good at least for a start.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at May 27, 2005 06:21 PMhe he...reverse jinks there
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:21 PMwow... so that's the deal, the twins can't hit until there's TWO outs with RISP... ;-)
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:22 PMWell, yeah, that's the 'clutch' situation, right?
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:22 PMread something today in the twins' usenet group about the jays claiming that santana is tipping his pitches. the jays have hit santana HARD in all three of his last three starts against them... thoughts?
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:23 PMallright, lets go johan
in the pregame there was some talk that johan was tipping his pitches to the Jays. Gardy brushed it off saying they pay close attention to that stuff. He did say if they knock Johan around he will just have him pitch right handed...
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:24 PMUmmmmm is this the place to talk about Yankees/Red Sox series???
Posted by: ESPN at May 27, 2005 06:24 PMwhat?? I have crap announcers...
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 06:25 PMYou know, brink, I'm starting to wonder...
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:27 PMOops...
Maybe time for Mr. Santana to change gloves...
*gulp*
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:27 PMhmmm maybe time to turn santana around
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:27 PMBut why would you make it known that an opponent was tipping his pithces? That doesn't make any sense...
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:28 PMfudge! it's deja vu in the worst way!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:28 PMyeah it really doesnt. It may just be to get in his head. other times players have been known to tell opposing players as a courtesy...kind of weird though
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:29 PMthose of you who don't know me (which would be most everyone) i'm from so. cal, but glad to say i'm sitting here in good ol rochester, mn watching the twins play right now.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:31 PMI suspect we will end up talking about the O's and Mets before the night is out, but I don't mind that - the Yanks and Red Sox will get plenty of attention without us.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:32 PMGood point, CA. I could see it as being an effective way to get in a guy's head.
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:32 PMstopped by the spam museum today in austin. ;-)
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:32 PMYeah, isn't it nice to see that a series between teams that are fourth and tied for second in their division is the Biggest Series Ever?
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:34 PMdang! long fly ball... thought we were REALLY in for some deja vu there... phew!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:34 PMBrink -- heading down to so.cal in about an hour (san diego)
They also have a Spam Festival in austin, not sure when
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:35 PMbrink,
I'd say that I'm jealous, but my annual pilgrimage to Roch is next weekend, and I think I can be patient for a few more days.
...
Right?
MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 06:36 PMtwinsfanCA--are you in the LA area? i live out in moreno valley...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:36 PMalright guys, I am headed off to a birthday dinner. I leave things in your good hands and confidant in our boys and Johan K Santana.
I will try to catch up with you later.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at May 27, 2005 06:37 PMBrink -- no i am in nocal (San Jose to be exact)
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 06:37 PMI don't know if anybody has heard this one already, but Redmond was on KS95 Moon and Stacy this afternoon. And they got talking about American Idol.
Apparently LNP and Cuddy TIVOed it and were showing up at the Stadium early to watch the tapes later on.
It sounds like the guy who does the filming for Twins games would pick up the American Idol feed and let Punto and Cuddyer watch it the next day.
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 06:38 PMbye babs!
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 06:39 PMshannon rocks.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:39 PMHave fun, Babs - with any luck the game will actually be over by the time you get back!
Ding! Shannon! Woo-hoo!
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:39 PMROCKIN
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 06:39 PMI see Stewie's putting his plans into action much earlier than usual.
"Victory Is Mine!"
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 06:40 PMVictory really is Stewie's, it seems!
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:40 PMTorhu - I caught that, I also found it amusing that someone though LeCroy models for Wal-Mart???
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 06:40 PMGood to see LNP back too.
But wow, the park is DEAD. Completely absent of Twins fans apparently.
Was it this quite when they scored their run? I just tuned it on now...
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 06:41 PMtwinsfanCA--i love a lot of the south bay area. gilroy, san jose, and then of course down the coast, santa cruz (and up north, mendocino). the drive up 101 is a favorite.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:42 PMWow. Great day for the top of the order already.
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 06:43 PMman, more 2 out hitting. keep it up!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:43 PMWell, things are looking good so far. And DMW, me and Carrie might talk about the Orioles and Mets but we ARE Twins fans... we're not obnoxious (don't need to name names) fans who just show up everywhere to be disruptive and taunt other teams' fans. Cut us some slack, willya?! :-)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:43 PMCue the conga line music...
Posted by: NoVaNick at May 27, 2005 06:44 PMCool, got my mlb.tv working again. After having heard several of the other team's announcers now, I have much more appreciation for Dick and Bert...
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 06:44 PMand some for Carrie...
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:45 PMok, I'm going to check out for a bit. back later I"m sure.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 06:45 PMMark, I looked at my VERY PRICEY MLB Extra Innings sked last night and after the next few games, I don't get Dick and Bert again until June 14th. :-(
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:46 PMThe Doctor is slumping. :(
If it must be, let it be brief!
Posted by: infield at May 27, 2005 06:47 PMLaurie,
Didn't mean to sound snide or anything - it really doesn't bother me at all to talk about other clubs, especially if there are ex-Twins to root for.
If there's any game in the big leagues tonight I'm not interested in following, though, it's gotta be Yankees/Red Sox.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:47 PM... and tonight is my first visit with Dick and Bert since May 20th. This really bites.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:48 PMmorneau's slumping. he's heading for the boggs line!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:48 PMLaurie, wow. I don't know if there is a way to tell which station we're getting day to day with mlb.tv. I pay for audio for the NFL to listen to the Vikings, and you can usually choose either team's feed.
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 06:48 PMToo bad. I'm hoping that the Doctor hits a monster shot in his Home and Native Land. There's still time, though...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 06:48 PMhey laurie,
where do you find who the announcers will be? the link i use just shows date, time, channel.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:48 PMand the thing that ticks me the most about extra innings--the games that are inexplicably not televised! i mean, i know that they're locally carried, but EI? nada!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:49 PMI'm back, after 4 days of listening to the Twins on a static-ridden AM 610 out of Duluth while vacationing in Grand Marais. Or maybe that static was the surf of Lake Superior? Anyway, it was a lovely vacation, but it's nice to be back!
Posted by: Kurtis at May 27, 2005 06:49 PMDMW, I'm interested in following it, for the same reason I follow the BI**H-SOX ;-)
But not here.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:50 PMWOW. castro's a lot of fun to watch in the field.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:50 PMThat was an awesome play.
Did you get rained on alot Kurtis? Regardless, I love that area. I need to get up there sometime this summer.
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:51 PManother thing i've noticed laurie--in nearly every "away" telecast, bert gets some facetime. the other announcers seem to geniuniely like him...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:51 PManyone going to the game on tuesday (CLE @ MIN)? it'll be my first twins game at the dome in 2 years...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:52 PMBrink:
try this:
http://www.indemand.com/sports/mlb2005/schedule/schedule.jsp?prodId=30175&titleFilter=Minnesota
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:52 PMtorii's continuing to pick it up...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:53 PMshout out to laurie! thanks homegirl.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:54 PMBert just said that we must have picked up our hitting shoes in customs. Or maybe that's where the real bats were being stored??
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:54 PMBrink, you'll get Dick and Bert for at least some of the Yankees series. I won't. I'll be blacked out and have to watch it on the Yankee channel (the Yeccccccchh Network). I can get the WCCO audio feed on XM Radio, but there's a 30-sec. delay. Tough to follow the game that way.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:54 PMWhat is the opposite of "assbats"?
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 06:55 PMAfter last night, I'm not getting too cocky.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:56 PMthat was really cool how tiffee saw that the pitch would be hard to handle to he purposely waved his bat toward the ball to distract the catcher so torii could score on the PB. i've always thought terry was a heady player!
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 06:56 PMMark,
Probably even less printable on a family website...
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 06:56 PMI don't like him tonight.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 06:57 PMI thought the opposite of "assbats" was just "bats" or, to be more specific, "real bats".
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 06:59 PMuh oh, tifee is below the rivas-line
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:00 PMredmond is no slouch. the guy continues to get it done! not saying i don't miss mauer but can't say i'm pining for the days of blanco...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:00 PMcool... twins are putting the wood to the jays. great way to start the weekend.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:01 PMaaaaand the Twins blow it open.
Posted by: Mark at May 27, 2005 07:01 PMyeah i am REALLY happy blanco got all greedy on us
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:02 PMHoly...
I remember reading in the Strib that the guys were looking forward to getting out of Cleveland, but I had no idea they'd celebrate like this.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 07:02 PMSo we've settled on Comrade? Has the Crain Train now become the Vulture or are both acceptable?
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:02 PMif punto hits for the cycle, do we start looking for the four horsemen?
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:03 PMwow already ten hits, i dont think we got that many in the whole cleveland series...
wait make that 11 hits
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:03 PMLaurie, I think both are acceptable for Crain. I personally prefer the Crain Train, just because the Vulture is... recycled. :)
I personally have settled on Comrade for now, but if something better comes along, I'm not too attached.
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 07:03 PMNo, first Dougie has to go 4-4.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:04 PMi was thinking the same thing Brink...
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:04 PMWe were getting a bit silly last week here and came up with GTX (Castrol) for Castro. Yeah. I know. I take full blame for that one.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:06 PMDMW,
Tell us about it! I was wondering where all this offense was in Cleveland. Turns out it was shipped north a few days early...
MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 07:06 PMSome Twins fans up in the hotel just got circled. Go, Kafumbly & Co.!
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 07:07 PMNick - not much. I was glad to have a little storm because I love it when the lake turns mean. We stayed inside that day and did a jigsaw puzzle.
Posted by: Kurtis at May 27, 2005 07:07 PMI think they'll be behind 3rd base on Sunday. Watch for a white Lewwwwww shirt and that will be our little Kafumbly.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:08 PMI loved how Dick just read the Yankees-Red Sox promo. When he read it the first time, I thought he sounded annoyed. Then he revised it to say it was a battle for second place in the AL East.
Kurtis, I'm glad to hear you had good weather. I agree, mean lakes can be fun, but you don't want too many days like that. :)
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 07:09 PMthat strikeout pitch had some GIDDYUP on it... i think it left a vapor trail...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:10 PMBTW Brink -- the drive on 101 is about as good as it gets...the drive on the 5 however comes somewhere between watching grass grow and paint dry
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:10 PMlol @ dick... classic...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:10 PMMan, I've missed Bert.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:11 PMyeah, twinsfanCA, 5 is expedient while 101 is elegant. if you're in a hurry, take 5. if you want to enjoy yourself, it's the 101...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:12 PMMy man Torii is getting H-O-T.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:19 PMSo, we finally get the nice, quiet blowout that Kafumbly always asks for and where is she? On the road...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 07:19 PMLaurie, I'm ready to give you full credit for Torii's recovery now.
Posted by: edge at May 27, 2005 07:20 PMNo she's watching the game at some bar with heraldguy. In Brooklyn something (I only know one Brooklyn, and it ain't in Minnesota!)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:21 PMI think Kafumbly is actually at a bar right now, not on the road.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:21 PMmlb.com's photo of Josh Towers makes him look like doofus.
I wish the DR. would smash a hit.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:22 PMlol Brooklyn Center.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:22 PMI also find it apt that Josh Towers' Gameday mugshot looks a little like he was kicked in the groin 3 seconds before the picture was shot.
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 07:22 PM(Bowing) Thank you, Edge!!! :-)
(singing) "That's the powwwwwwwwwer of looooooove..."
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:22 PMI would've liked to go watch the game with the other Batlings, but I figured the traffic going out there would be utterly horrid today. But on another day, I'd surely go.
Posted by: Nick at May 27, 2005 07:23 PMWell, she's got booze and no a**bats. She's probably having a SPLENDID time!! LOL
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:24 PMoff to san diego...everyone have a great holiday weekend...go twins
Posted by: twinsfanCA at May 27, 2005 07:24 PMTravel safe! :-)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:25 PMSee ya twinsfanCA - good luck with the travel!
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 07:25 PMTowers had a lower ERA than Santana heading into the game . . . not anymore . . .
I am listening to the Toronto announcers on XM and they are giving the DR. some major props for being from B.C.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:25 PMThe twins have a big lead....johan on the mound...time to relax...When's the last time the twins won big?
Popa Chubby If The Diesel Don't Get You
Nick same here. IF it had been on my end of town I'd have been there.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:27 PMYeah, it was a bit of a trek for me, too... ;-)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:27 PMlol, you can come to town and stay on my couch just so you can go to the bars with us.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:28 PMAlex, I hear you . . .
These last few games with the Indians have been a stress festival. It makes you think . . . why do I care so much? What else could I be doing with my life than obsessing over every AB?
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:28 PMMK, it's still early. Wow, that place is empty!
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:29 PMWell, Aurora, my trusty pocket schedule tells me that June 23rd is Michael Cuddyer Poster Day...
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:30 PMLaurie - I'll put your reservation down. It's a very comfy couch. My first big girl purchase.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:31 PMoh Nicky. oh well.
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:34 PMSince Stewart was a stud when he played in Toronto, the home team announcers are giving him the big build-up . . .work ethic, etc.
They are right of course. I would hate to see where we would be without him.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:34 PMgood to see practically the whole team using towers for BP. meanwhile the white sox wunderkind is getting paddled in arlington...
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:34 PMwell, (knocking on wood) looks like the twins have this game well in hand. gotta run! been fun, see you next week, same time same bat-channel. i'm off to the bustling "town" of dover, mn.
Posted by: brink at May 27, 2005 07:36 PMPoor Towers. What a horrible night he's had.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:37 PMThe Texans have a good team. Let's hope they bring the damn Bitch Sox back to earth.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:37 PMwell funoka...there's something about baseball..everybody in my house knows they can ask me at anytime about the score, the standings, whatever, and I can update them...we've all given up questioning it...just accept and enjoy...
sure like to see more strikes from johan and a hit for tiffee...
Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers Drive To Survive
Have fun, Brink! :-)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:37 PMWow, it's been so long since I've had Dick and Bert that I haven't heard the new "MORE-no" before tonight!!
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:39 PMSo far it's:
JJJJJJ
"I don't try to strike everybody out, they just swing and miss." J. Santana.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:40 PMMr. Towers needs to go to the showers.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:42 PMHow true, Alex. Yeah, I could be out doing God knows what else tonight (and every night!) But in reality there's nothing I enjoy more than baseball. I'd certainly rather be watching baseball than overpaying for food or a movie, or listening to some loud band. So I just accept and enjoy, too. I'm doing this by choice... not because I'm a loser.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:43 PMI am seeing a loud band TOMORROW night.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:44 PMLOL, funoka!
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:45 PMI watch baseball because I love baseball. But don't get me wrong, I'm still kind of losery. :)
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 07:46 PMWith each passing baserunner, Towers' mugshot becomes that much more apropos. I'm starting to feel bad for him...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 07:46 PMHey, why is Mauer sitting again? What are the locals saying about this sore groin. I got lost in the euphoria to notice NPB is in the lineup.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:47 PMI definitely feel bad for him.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:47 PMGosh, Dougie is just breaking my heart. Don't know how much more of this I can take.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:48 PMthe jays must have some bullpen problems to leave towers in so long..he's hanging on though..and we didn't get our Tiffee hit
Todd Snider Easy Money
Posted by: alex at May 27, 2005 07:49 PMWell, the more innings he goes, the less damage to his ERA... poor thing.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:50 PMMan..Johan seems all over the place tonight...but no hits since the first two batters...

Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 07:53 PMThe Sporting News I got in the mail today said the Twins are a WILD CARD Contender. Yuck!
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 07:55 PMTowers is a good pitcher, he just had the misfortune to catch our boys on a 'makeup' day.
What's the deal with Speier being in? I thought he was the closer?
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 07:56 PMWhat did Bert mean by that? "I'm not even getting into that..." about kids having to learn Spanish?
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 07:59 PMAlex,
You get the feeling that Johan hunted Koskie in order to get his mojo back ("Happy Birthday!" indeed...), only to find that it had been diluted a tiny bit...
MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:00 PMBatista is the closer now. Speier is now the mop-up man.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:00 PMLaurie,
Bert was born in Scand-whoovia somewhere and had to learn English, so maybe he thinks everyone should. Just a guess, cause I am listening to Toronto annoucers.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:02 PMA big "mock cheer" from the Toronto fans for that double by Shea.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:04 PMGotta be honest, Funoka. Made me a bit uncomfortable. Went a little like this:
Dick: "It's gotten to the point now where Spanish should be a required class for kids. Especially in California..."
Bert" "I'm not even getting into that."
Shea Hillebrand will someday play for the Mets.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:06 PMFunoka, he almost did!
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:07 PMLaurie, I think these blow out games get announcers into areas they should not go.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:07 PMYeah, well that comment gave me goosebumps, frankly.
We need another J here.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:08 PMActually Bert was born in Zeist, Holland - he is The Dutchman.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:12 PMRight on D! I'll remember next time!
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:14 PMI'm going to hope I misinterpreted it and enjoy the rest of the game. :-)
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:14 PMYep, aurora.
Does baseball have 'garbage time' like basketball does? 'Cause hearing Dazzle talk about his garden would be one sign we've reached it, I'm thinking.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:17 PMThe SF Giants announcers are the funniest in garbage time and extra innings. Sometimes I'd swear they were drinking.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:18 PMHey, everybody get to see the online Rake story about BG?
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:19 PMI see Shaggy...why do I see Shaggy?
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:20 PMDMW,
Yes. We were all either congratulatory that she got to meet her biggest fans, jealous that she was in the clubhouse, or both.
MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:20 PMhehe, makes sense, mk, makes sense
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:20 PMI'm wish Bert on this soapbox.
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:21 PMI think he's dishy.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:22 PMOK, Matt, close this one out. No walks, no screwing around.
Posted by: edge at May 27, 2005 08:22 PMHey y'all. The game's in good hands, and Tinger's mom's gala 50th birthday party is tonight, so I don't get to stay around and chat all evening. How about offense instead of suspense, eh?
Posted by: AT at May 27, 2005 08:23 PMWay to go Shaggy in Garbage Time!
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:24 PMAT, but Bo Bice is being interviewed live on CNN for an hour... your family is bypassing that?
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:24 PMHAPPY BIRTHDAY, TINGER'S MOM!
I am liking this game...a lot.
Lose, Bitch Sox, Lose!
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:25 PMHey, everybody get to see the online Rake story about BG?
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:19 PM

what is this 'Rake' ?
AT . .. some hits, an HR, and we love those first inning errors, too!!
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:25 PMExcellent! 3 more, Shaggy.
Texas 4, Bitches zip in the 5th. All on dingers.
Posted by: edge at May 27, 2005 08:25 PMVERY off topic and I apologize, but this is funny.
Speaking of Bo Bice though...if you go to bobice.com, it's for some old real estate dude, BOB ICE!
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:27 PMHAHHA. is anyone listening to the radio?
Dazzle is all upset that that was scored a single.
I like it when Dazzle gets on his rants
Posted by: James at May 27, 2005 08:27 PMLaurie - DON'T TELL TINGER'S MOM.
She actually parties pretty hard, and she's already at the place, so I'm not too concerned.
btw, my cousin is here, and he wants to talk about Aaron F'ing. Oh, he doesn't even know...
Posted by: AT at May 27, 2005 08:27 PMStacy, that's hilarious. LOL
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:27 PMJames,

MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:27 PMAT, we can handle your cousin...
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:28 PMLaurie,
The things my mother and her co-workers discover during the day amaze me sometimes...lol.
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:28 PMWow, now it's Texas 6, Bitches zip, all on dingers.
Bitches, objects in your rear-view mirror are closer than they appear.
Bob Ice could make himself a few bucks selling that domain name. It's probably already in the works.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:30 PMDougie watch... he's up again. 0-2 so far tonight.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:30 PMAnd... a K.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:31 PMCome on, Dougie!
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:31 PMthank you MK
Posted by: James at May 27, 2005 08:31 PMErr...nevermind...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:32 PM(And a woot for the Twins victory. Woot!)
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:38 PMShaggy Guerreir is on the radio
Posted by: James at May 27, 2005 08:38 PMWow, that was fast.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:38 PMEspecially after the last few nights.
Posted by: LaurieNY at May 27, 2005 08:39 PMOK, Twins win, off to the party. Have good nights, people!
Posted by: AT at May 27, 2005 08:39 PMShag's probably on so everyone else can scurry back to the locker room in case Hurricane Koskos blew through SkyDome...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:39 PMWow, man. Shaggy has a good ERA now.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 08:39 PMI do feel bad for the Doctor, not getting a hit on his native soil. At least he drew a walk so did didn't feel completely left out.
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:41 PMDang, quick game indeed.
Good seeing everybody - remember, tomorrow's game is earlier than this.
Posted by: David Michael Wintheiser at May 27, 2005 08:41 PMon a complete side note
did anyone see Mark Prior go down today
OUCH
but as of now, it looks like nothing broken, just a deep bruise
Posted by: James at May 27, 2005 08:43 PMI don't know why I find it so entertaining that the Doc is Canadian.
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:44 PMwell now what do I do... It so early...
Posted by: aurora at May 27, 2005 08:45 PMAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!:
"A sparse crowd at Toronto's Rogers Centre didn't pay much attention when Morneau batted in the first inning, but one fan in particular was cheering; Morneau's mother, who celebrated her birthday by flying across the country to watch her son on native soil for the weekend. Mother and son were planning to go out for birthday dessert after Friday's game."
Posted by: Stacy at May 27, 2005 08:47 PMAnyone notice how the boys did after the third inning? Anyone notice how frequently this happens? Morneau now has as many h.r.s as Shannon. However 4 out sounds better than 6 out. Al.
Posted by: al at May 27, 2005 08:48 PMStacy, that's great!
There's nothing better to take the sting out of a 0-for-4 night than to go out for ice cream.
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:50 PMAl,
I will gladly take three innings of strong offense, since the boys generally have 9 innings of strong defense and pitching.
MK
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 08:52 PMAnd since nobody else wants to do it, I'll nominate Stewart as BOD. But please don't add his Hottest Chick photo. That was *scarring* yesterday...
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 09:00 PMOk.. I had a GREAT evening. Had steak & Lobster for dinner with a great glass of wine - and they had the game on in the bar so I could catch the score. What's fun is that I actually watched all the Twins scores while we were waiting to be seated. After that, apparently nothing much happened!!
I must say guys - todays thread was extremely weak on game details, and then I realized that there just weren't that many game details. And only 9 innings!?!?
now we are back at my house for a piece of cheesecake and a cup of coffee.. What a GREAT birthday baseball game and dinner. Of course, since tomorrow is my ACTUAL bday - they have to win for me then too.
Posted by: CapitalBabs at May 27, 2005 09:15 PMYeah, Babs, this was the shortest game thread I've seen in a while. This must be what happens when the team plays only nine innings like they're supposed to. At least the Twins were nice enough to score all their runs while you were watching.
Since I'm likely going to be away from the computer tomorrow, I'll have to wish you a Happy Birthday today.
Happy Birthday!
Posted by: mk at May 27, 2005 09:19 PMHappiest of Happy Birthday's Babs.
Good night, Bitch Sox.
Posted by: funoka at May 27, 2005 09:25 PMThis is the kinda game we needed after that Cleveland series. Little drama (cept for JJ's bat in the 1st) and an excellent performance (for the most part) by all aspects of the team.
Shoutout to my man Castro for that suprise 2-run shot, which to me was the knockout punch for the BJs.
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 09:47 PMIt's great to see McCarthy for the Sox getting wasted out there. There was some Sox fan who was talking a big game about this rookie they had that was blowing guys away, and how Minnesota was the "maven" of Minor League talent anymore.
I'm so glad he got lit up for four dingers in 5 innings. YEEE-HAW!
Posted by: Torhu at May 27, 2005 10:00 PMha! you guys are funny... heraldguy and I will be on the road tomorrow, bright and early at 6am! we hope to be within radioshot of a Jays affiliate by at least the end of tomorrow's game. so take good notes, because we'll be able to check in from Oakville, and we'll want to know what we missed! :)
and I promise to take good notes FROM the game on Sunday! woohoo! I'm getting so excited!
but I must say, this game today really was exactly what I've been needing. get it done in the third inning, and coast in to the end. just for today, though... a coaster game was simply called for after this rough week. they'll have to get back to some excitement by Sunday. I want a close game so I can see my boyfriend Joe Nathan. and an appearance by my boyfriend The Vulture would be nice, too, since I'm sure he wants to pitch a Major League game in his native Canada, also. Justin can't hog the whole country!
okay, well I have to head to bed now. early mornin' tomorrow.
have a great weekend, everybody!
Posted by: kafumbly at May 27, 2005 10:08 PMoh, and Happy Birthday, Babs!
Posted by: kafumbly at May 27, 2005 10:09 PMKafumbly and heraldguy, I wish you all the best. May you have safe travels and fun times this weekend, and Go Twins!
