Jason Bartlett has been optioned to Rochester.

So I was babysitting and got done and turned on the car radio just in time to hear "Joe Mays is on the verge of a shutout win." I thought I must have been hearing things, what with a baby screaming all afternoon and all. Then Mays gave up a double, and I thought I was hearing correctly again. Regardless, once the game was over, I realized that JOE MAYS had, in fact, pitched a CG shutout. My next thought was, "I bet he's going to be BOD."

Bartlett being sent down almost completely killed my buzz from the game. When Cuddy hit his double, I think my grin was probably about as big as his was.

Koskie broke his thumb sliding into 2nd. Bummer.

Bartlett's comments in yesterdays Strib made it seem as if he was asking to be sent down. We can use Doug M logic with Castro, every hit he takes away should be credited to him and then he'll be a .300. hitter.

Sure we have El Presidente, Bradke, Boo and The Nathanest as classic favorites, but ever since Joe came back from the TJ surgery, I've rooted for him, hoped, prayed, crossed my fingers and wished on shooting stars that he'd come back strong, healthy and most of all, he'd come back as a great pitcher. Deep down, I've had a special little place in my heart for him (not in the boyfriend way, so don't panic Doc, your safe, but you best get to hittin' again!). Anyway, I think he's made tremendous strides after being sidelined for so long and this superb outing is just what he needed. Thank you Batgirl for making him Boyfriend of the Day.

My boyfriend always ends up in second place...poor kid. But it was, without a double, Mays' Day.

I'm hoping against hope that Jason was sent down to bring up someone because Little Nicky Punto has been eaten, and has not been recovered yet. That's my hope, anyway. And that the minors stint is what his bat needs.

Did anyone read the article about Cuddy being deaf in his left ear? I had no idea, bless his heart for not letting it get him down.

As for Young Master Bartlett getting sent down, I think it's going to be the best thing for him. He needs to play more consistently to get his groove back. Yes, he'll be missed for the time being, but it's best for him. I'm actually suprised Gardy didn't do it sooner.

I laughed at the Cuddy article. I have hearing loss in my right ear, so I was like, "hey, I do that! and I do that, too!"

I think Bart will be back this season. he's just got a few things to work on, and then he'll be back.

I was following on Gamecast at work this afternoon. It was all I could do to keep from laughing aloud every time Mikey fouled of another pitch—and with the bases loaded no less! Could our three-guys-on troubles be coming to an end? As long as the pitchers keep throwing like that, I don't really care.

I was standing at the top of Section 119 during that 14 pitch at bat - holding hot dogs for the "co-workers" - the dogs were cold and the beer was warm by the time I got to my seat!

You have to love half-days at work when you work in downtown Minneapolis and there's a 12:10 Twins game. I got to the game just as the bottom of the first was starting, so I saw almost all of Joe's masterpiece. During the middle innings, especially, he seemed to be throwing amazingly well, getting ground out after ground out, and putting together some VERY fast innings. I couldn't believe Cuddy's AB. He was right on a ton of those pitches, and barely missed a grand slam foul.

I don't know if this plays into the BOD award consideration, but Mays really needed the award most, so I can't complain, despite the fact that D.J. most certainly contributed most to the Twins victory in my humble opinion...Actually, I guess according to the rules I wouldn't be able to complain anyway, so it's just as well. Congrats, Joe, you pitched a gem today. Hopefully the President was watching and taking notes.
